We came here bc it was recommended by several moms. They claimed it was like Hawaii without the flight. It's not. There are a lot of extra tax & fees on the final bill as well. Tidal was good not great. Oysters were fresh, flat bread was okay. Our golf cart forgot to pick us up for dinner, Barefoot was decent breakfast, decent service, the pools didn't feel 85° at all, the pool area ground was dirty, sticky - wear shoes, my son cut his foot from something by the pool, they do not clean rooms daily, we ran out of towels but didn't realize it till we took showers, they could use better quality toiletries, grounds were nice but definitely not Hawaii. We'd rather stay in downtown, next time. read more

The grounds are pretty and the food is decent. Overall visit would have been better if staff communication was consistent and policies clearer. I booked two day passes on two separate days while attending a conference at the resort. My first day they were helpful at check in and showed me all the locations I had access to on a map. My second day back the manager, Angela, refused me entry with the same photo id used previously and demanded government issued id, which wasn't listed in their instructions for check-in. I was not provided any proof of this policy and was only offered a refund. The pools are nice but the lounges look stained/dirty. Five pool options around the property. The parking is public and so is the beach so I would not pay for their pool pass in the future- better options out there. All in all 3 of 5 stars. read more

What a bad experience. We checked in yesterday due to the Pacific Palisades fires. We ended up booking one of their 2 queen beds regular rooms (D438) and 1. Closet was dusty and dirty. 2. Bedsheets were discoloration and not replaced with new ones. They had piling and felt like sandpaper. We ended up buying new ones to us. 3. The room doesn't even have a desk you can work on. Just 1 chair. Then at night we opened the fridge to put our food/Meds and I realized that it was hot and not working. I called front desk and the guy stated the engineer will be over shortly. 30 minutes later, I called back and was told they can't tell me what time they will come as it's a different department but that they will dispatch them now so they go over. An hour later, I call and ask they need to send someone asap as it's been one hour and my 4 yr old ID all ready asleep. He put me on hold and said the engineers have left for the day. Then this morning, I called frank desk and asked for room service. I told them that we will be out until late at night and I have removed the do not disturb sign. I just got back (7pm) and no one touched the room. We won't be staying here again read more

This is such a dump. I've heard about it forever and it disappointed in so many ways. Room was $1,100 per night. Look at the photos I shared. The sheets and pillow covers were pilled so badly. The walls were so thin I could clearly hear conversations next doors. The mattress was bumpy like cheap springy type with barely any material coverage and I felt the bumps and every move made in that bed. I felt grossed out and didn't want to touch anything. I can't believe I was talked into going here. Four Seasons at Park Aviara would have been cheaper and I would have felt like it was worth it. This was definitely NOT 4 stars. More like a motel. The positive things are the staff and the food was lovely at Barefoot restaurant. Slooow, but once ya girl eats, she's happy. The staff also was chef's kiss. I had great interactions with them and they were kind and eager to help. So, it's giving, great training, but greedy management. Not really investing in the quality of the product, because they can get away with location and past reputation. Leaning on hard working staff can only get you so far. Disappointing From Start to Finish !! We arrived with 4 other couples for a weekend stay. While everyone else got their rooms right away, ours "wasn't ready." Check-in is already late at 4 PM, but we still had to wait and were sent to the restaurant without any voucher, paying out of pocket. After 45 minutes after the room still wasn't ready and we complained, they offered us an "upgrade" to a bigger room, but it was old, poorly maintained, and had a strong, unpleasant mold smell. We even bought an air freshener ourselves, but it didn't help. Our friends' rooms were cleaner and didn't smell, so clearly this wasn't the standard for all guests. When we complained, the front desk staff showed no concern or willingness to fix the problem. We ended up staying because of our plans, but the mold smell made it hard to sleep, and overall the conditions were far below what you'd expect for the price. Definitely not worth it. read more

Booked through Hotels.com, prepaid in full -- expecting a relaxing stay with my 14-year-old daughter. What we got was a disaster from the start. Walk into reception -- bad smell hits you immediately. The front desk girl talks like she's half asleep and hits me with a $46/day parking fee. I asked if there was an alternative and she says, with a straight face, "You can leave it in the public lot if you want it towed." Not even a fake smile. I politely asked if we could get a nice room -- same deadpan vibe. No welcome, no "let us know if you need anything," nothing. You're running a resort, not a prison intake desk. Next day, we tried the water activities -- the staff acted like we were bothering them just by asking basic questions. Cold, rude, unhelpful. Then my daughter wanted to get her nails done at the spa. They refused because she's "under 16." I told them she's almost 15, smiled politely, and said, "Come on, it's just nails..." Still got a hard "no" with a look like we were asking for a kidney. The attitude was unreal. The cherry on top? The manager texts me after check-in as part of their routine "is everything okay?" follow-up. I explain everything -- bad reception, rude staff, poor service. She acts shocked... and then vanishes. No solution, no apology, no follow-up. Just silence. This is a tired, outdated resort that relies on nice photos and a waterfront location to distract you from the fact that they don't care. Absolutely not worth the money. read more

We stayed for two nights- three rooms (Friday- Sunday) check in was under last night Holbrook in case they claim this review is fact 1) our bad for leaving the keys in the car unlock 2) my keys have an Apple air tag on them 3) my keys have a "wallet" attached to them We woke to check out on Sunday around 9am ish maybe 10am. My husband notice the keys were missing to our truck but not only just the truck. The truck key and Camry keys were missing (mind you there $300 cash was sitting in the center console). Whoever "broke " into the truck only took the keys and not the cash. We were awake until 11;30pm having a fire and were awake by 9am, very short window. The second my husband could not locate my keys I pulled the AirTag location. The location took to directly to a housekeepers cart. When I approached her she was nice but kind laughed at me a bit. When I asked her to call Secuirty she wouldn't. I started to walk back to my room (7rooms over) she followed me. The AirTag also followed with her movement. I went back to show her and she would not acknowledge it. Billy from security showed up (amazing person). I was showing him the location of the Apple tag and what was going. He agreed it was odd and something was up. He went above and beyond to help us. The housekeepers staff, including their "manager", made it out to be they were the victim and I was wrong. There was zero help from them. I had clear evidence that a staff member was involved with the act.... Zero help. While the front desk manager was nice there was no assistance from her. From 9am-2:30 we worked with multiple tow truck companies to get my $80k truck towed from their property. The only person who cared was Billy!!! We spent $2,000 to be treated like trash read more

Stayed here for a night while I was on business in San Diego. I really loved this place! It doesn't even feel like you are in SD - it felt more like a tropical paradise away from the bustling city. It's along the water with so many ponds and very lush landscaping. We saw many different types of birds and sea life (small sharks, big fish, stingray, etc.) Room: Stayed in a Bungalow suite with a huge bed, jack n jill bathrooms, and a large living room with patio overlooking the way. Small kitchenette with microwave and mini fridge and Keurig. The room was one of the cleanest rooms I have ever stayed in, and I appreciated they had bluetooth speakers and wireless charges (It's 2023.... don't know why hotels still have these old ones that aren't even compatible!) Service: we ate at the Barefoot bar. I got a plate of nacho and was shocked by how big the plate was. Definitely had leftovers. Service was great. Every single interaction I had with the staff was excellent from the front desk, to the spa, to the golf cart driver, and the little market staff they have on site for snacks or coffee. 100% recommend this place and will stay there again. read more

Booked rom via Expedia - I booked a was a "non" standard room. When we arrived was given a standard room - was told all rooms were booked due to a conference being held. We made the best of our stay the best way we could. I texted for service as the bathtub did not work and was told that an engineer would come out to service. Checked back in the afternoon as it still was not working. I reached out again and appeared as if it was a new request -I forwarded all the texts on the communication and after several hours it was fixed. This facility is WONDERFUL. I was pleasantly surprised that ear room is sort of its own little bungalow. Mine had a living room area with kitchenette separate from the bedroom and bathroom. Along with a small walk in closet. This exceeded my expectations. However, there are some updates needed in the rooms as you can see the wear over the years. Nice hotel with a great property! We spent a week here and the kids loved waking up with ducks in the pond off the back patio. Room was big enough for two adults and two young kids. The swimming pools were great and we spent a few days in them. Just a short walk to a beach with fire pits and watching boats in the bay. Restaurants were ok and convenient. The little market/coffee shop had just about everything we randomly needed, especially beer. Overall good experience and will be the first place we check when returning to San Diego read more

Sooooo when we were younger, this was our family's go-to vacation spot when we wanted a close getaway from LA. It's insane how familiar it all felt 20 years later. I remember everything from the ducks, to the tower, to the bike rentals. It was so nostalgic to be back there with my entire family, including my 2 younger nephews. We were a party of 10 (plus a small doggie) for the weekend and had 4 bungalows next to one another. This was definitely convenient, and nice that we all connected via the "backyard" areas. All of our rooms were great, very clean and had quality items. It was a plus that this is a dog-friendly resort as well. Considering that, I have some dander allergies and I was fine all weekend, indicating that the rooms and common areas were likely cleaned regularly, because I would otherwise be sneezing and sniffly. We had a blast doing jet skiing and boating for a few hours on one of the mornings, and then got the 10 person tandem bike that was just hilarious and fun (we didn't last very long lol). My nephews had fun doing the mini golfing, and LOVED feeding the ducks. We also did a smores night by the first come first serve bonfire area, which was fun. I'd say there's no need for that pricey "bonfire experience" that's advertised, it was easy to find an open spot on a Friday night around 830pm. Everything is decently priced, considering you're at a resort but some stuff if you can bring yourself, you're better off, especially if you're driving (e.g., s'mores things, drinks). Main complaint- the food at Tidal and barefoot cafe were very disappointing. I would have rather made reservations elsewhere off the resort and spend that money on better food but it is what it is. The views at tidal were beautiful. Barefoot cafe was a little annoying with their system in the morning, first come first serve even if you're a large party. Otherwise, we had a lovely time and are so grateful that this place still exists. We'll be back for sure :) read more

I was here as a two day one night work meeting. My perspective for large groups is that it was really perfect, everything was walkable even though sometimes it was a long walk, and we definitely got lost at night after we had a couple cocktails and we are headed back to our room but all the meal options and the area for dining was lovely. The meeting space was lovely with large windows, it was a really inclusive experience and nothing was needed from the outside. We even had a early morning walk which most people went on even though we didn't want to beautiful area! read more

As many times as I've passed this resort, I had never been on the grounds, but was fortunate to stay here when i recently attended a conference here. My experience at the resort was a pleasant one, the thing that most impressed me were the grounds and the planning of the resort. It felt like you stepped into a tropical jungle paradise with so many different flora and fauna and water features. I think I saw about 10 different bird species that each made their own unique noise. Interesting indeed but was a little loud in the early mornings while still trying to sleep. Another note about the creatures, there were quite a few spiders that were in our room and I know it's to be expected in some respect since each bungalow is ground level amidst the jungle. However as someone who has slight arachnophobia, it was a little off-putting. The bungalows themselves were well-kept and clean and loved that each unit had a patio with a table and chairs. I think I had a great location that was right in between 2 of the 5 pools and one of them was adults-only, close to the lobby and a nice lake in front. Parking was also amazing since you park right in front of your unit. Other activities that were enjoyed included Mini golf (lovely little course), beach time & paddleboarding in the cove and eating at barefoot bar & grill (cute outdoor bar area overlooking the water). I did want to eat at Tidal, the other restaurant but it was closed on Sunday nights, Monday & Tuesday. It would have been nice to have it open for more variety and a little more upscale than barefoot bar. As for the conference, the room was well-kept and all AV equipment worked. I was also impressed with the catered food, all above my usual expectations for hotels. I would like to come back during the off-season and possibly stay in a bungalow facing the cove. read more

I was there for a conference. It's huge and has some nice features and the food was much better than I expected. But, it needs updating. Like a 40-year upgrade! The bungalows are cute but we overlooked a murky pond which was far from quaint. There was only one small garbage pail in the room -- none in the bathroom -- and there was no maid service. We were there 3 nights. Who had time to empty their own garbage? It piled up. As I mentioned the conference food was decent but the room service food was not. Hard eggs. DON'T HAVE YOUR WEDDING AT PARADISE POINT In short: we were lied to, our credit card was charged without notifying us, they didn't let our guests get seconds for food, we didn't get to have any of our own wedding cake, and there was a fundamental lack of accountability from Paradise Point. After our wedding we were sent an unexpected invoice stating we had an additional balance due. We found multiple errors in the final invoice, resulting in overcharges which we had to point out in order to get refunded. Even beyond these refunds, we still supposedly owed a sizable balance. Sydney Herd (Event Sales Manager) claimed that the extra balance was due to keeping the open bar running longer than we paid for - however this was their fault because during our wedding we explicitly told the bar staff NOT to extend the open bar beyond our prepaid tab. After I called out her inaccurate statement, she pivoted to a new argument that other miscellaneous charges explain the balance. But the numbers she was giving us didn't add up. While combing through the final invoice we found a 27% venue service fee, however prior documents did not clearly outline this fee. Not only is the contradictory language misleading, it was something we had to bring to Paradise Point's attention. After we pointed out this service fee, Sydney shifted her argument once again -- now claiming that this fee explained the final balance due. Not once did Paradise Point acknowledge that their previous explanations for the final balance were wrong. We were basically playing whack-a-mole in trying to nail down a straight answer from them. To add insult to injury, after we caught Paradise Point in their misleading statements they just stopped responding and charged our credit card on file without even notifying us. Charging our card in the middle of a dispute is wrong on its own, but it is extra underhanded because in their initial email they requested we pay the balance ourselves via a website link. Plates from the buffet table were prematurely removed, preventing our guests from getting seconds! It seems like they kept the food sitting out just for appearances. When our guests asked for more plates, they were given the run around until the food was eventually taken away. It seems Paradise Point was trying to get away with doing the least amount of work possible. There's nothing worse than being hungry at a wedding. One slice of our wedding cake was promised to be boxed up for us to eat in our honeymoon suite. Instead, it was tossed. We didn't even get to have our own wedding cake. Lastly, there is a serious lack of accountability. Three months prior to the event, Sydney told us a local magazine was interested in covering our wedding. However, she never followed up with us about it. When we asked her about it on the night of our wedding she looked surprised, then claimed that the magazine never followed up with her. It really seems like she simply forgot, and made up a lie on the spot to save face. Not only were we disappointed, we were embarrassed because we had informed our guests and major vendors of the magazine's interest. If you have your wedding at Paradise Point, they will cut corners at the expense of your wedding and you will feel lied to. read more

The location is great. Let's start there. The rest? Not so much. The bed was so broke down in the middle it was like a hammock. The barefoot grill is mediocre AF plus the charge you an extra 6% for the states minimum wage. The pool is nice but when you order a drink you not only get the aforementioned 6% surcharge but they tack on an even larger service charge. Oh and the cove is shut down due to bacteria. 2 nights here for a 1 bedroom suite was over $2k. I think this will be the last time I go here. Oh and don't forget to bring anything. I paid $90 for a pair of Reef flip flops that were $56 on Amazon. Why didn't I give it a 1 star? The staff. Everyone here has been great and I feel for them because I'm sure these surcharges are resulting in smaller tips for them. read more

This is a beautiful resort (soon to be a Margaritaville resort). The facilities were beautiful, the pools were well maintained and the food and beverage services were above par (for the most part). The service from the bell station to the bar staff was always above par. They have a few restaurants on property - they are a bit pricey (given the resort nature) - but the food is of a decent quality. With a $30 resort fee - you'd hope they wouldn't inflate the prices of everything else quite as much - but it was what it was. Huge Kudos for the AC actually being on and cool in my room after I checked in - a rarity! I had two minor complaints. When I got there my room wasn't ready yet (I was early) so I went to the pool bar and ordered a drink and some Chicken Nachos. The Nachos were PRICEY and when they came out - everything was cold - from the cheese to the chicken. I was a bit hangry - so apologies (again) that I was a bit grumpy with the bartender - but I was just disappointed, but hungry. It all tasted fine - but the temps were just slightly off (not in a "concerned about my health" way). The beds/pillows are also fairly miserable. I had a standard queen room, and the bed was fairly hard for my liking and the metal base was creaky. The pillows were Little Rock's of cotton - not very comfortable. I had to build a pillow fort to get some comfort. I'd recommend updating the bedding once Margaritaville takes over. If you come before then - and you drove, toss an extra pillow into your car! I'd 100% stay here again. read more

Where do I begin!!!!! Let me start off by saying, stay away... 1 they sold out the room I originally booked, they said I would be upgrading. Walked in to not a room but a disaster. Windows had no screens frames of the widows have probably been here since the 70s.. bed room window jammed and couldn't open the we're so old. room likes nothing like the pictures 2. Our room smelled like it had been cleaned with a few bottles of fabuloso. We have literally been sitting out side with the door open trying to air out the smell for a few hours. (Mind u I have a migraine from the smell) 3. Don't be deceived by the pictures they are either photoshopped or taken years ago. 4. I have kayaks right in front of our window where every morning we will be waken up to people and instructors. 5. Food at their restaurant Tidal was way over priced for mediocre food. (My soup arrived cold and it was so bad even hot I couldn't eat it) I could go on and on but I'll stop here. We booked the stay for 3 days but I Can't wait to pack my stuff and leave first thing tomorrow morning. read more

My husband and I just had the best Anniversary/Honeymoon trip from the time we were greeted until we checked out. The staff went over and above for us and made our trip even more special and we're so grateful for the hospitality shown to us. Checked in 08/06/24 and Checked out 08/09/24- I was about to book 5 nights but was skeptical due to mixed reviews of Paradise Point! So I only booked for 3 nights (just in case, there's a problem and don't wanna get stucked for the whole trip). I only did 3 nights as a trial (but can't extend it due to Paradise is fully booked for the weekend). That's when I chose to spend my two nights at Bahia (which aparently did not go well- you can check out my review for Bahia). These are the two resort hotels that are comparable and have close ratings but Bahia is nothing compared to Paradise. I can go over the differences and help you decide if ever you are having second thoughts on where to spend your money. After all, prices per night varies. It ranges from 350$ and up per night depending on the days of the week or holidays. This is just based on my personal experience and comparison as to why choose Paradise over Bahia. I am not affiliated with any of the hotels and just giving my honest opinion. 1. Customer Service- Paradise welcomed me as I walk thru the lobby. Greeted and check in as well as check out went smoothly. Bahia? Feeling of being unwelcome and Asst Manager arguing with me as a customer, forcing me for the so called upgrade even though it's the same price of my original booking that I want. Wanted to place me at the very creepy 4 story in the back that has cramped parking. 2. Parking- with Paradise, you have your own designated parking right in front of your bungalow. Lighted number at night for parking. Grab your stuff anytime and go anywhere is so easy! Bahia? Well, goodluck parking your car at any place with closed gates and dead end at the back of the hotel. They don't care where you can find your parking- after all, they got your $ already! 3. Feeling of Paradise- the way Paradise is designed with Palm trees, cleanliness, landscaping, set up of the bungalows. No upper part that makes you feel like you are in a solo house. Observation tower, feeding ducks which you can get in the lobby for free. Lighted post in fire like Paradise! Bahia- cramped up, 4 story on the sides and another 4 story in the back. Then up and down on the rest as you drive in their narrow road! Keep in mind, you want a peaceful vacation and not to stay in like an apartment, whether up or down! 4. Pools- Paradise has 5 pools including one for adults only. Pool is clean and well lit. Kids loved it, heated as well. Bahia? One pool with yellow ambience. That's no fun right there especially for the kids! 5. Furnishings- Paradise has a solemn, light colors, paradise feeling. Hoping that it's soundproof but not a big deal, just be wary of your neighbors. Bahia? Has old brown, boring Victorian looks that feels creepy and carpet smells as you walk in their stairs. One on top of another then of another. Not a good design. 6. Cleanliness- Paradise, of course! Even the smell of the rooms. 7. Amenities- for the same charges a night, I would go with Paradise as they have more to offer and will treat you right. Wifi is not bad, too. More activities and much more family oriented! They have an island Market for all your needs and reservations are organized to use the amenities. 8. Restaurants- Barefoot Bar and Grill and Tidal. As well as refreshments by the Pool. Bahia? I don't know what restaurants they have and what can they offer. 9. Price of stay- Paradise have slight higher price of difference of about 50$ but it's all worth it. I'd rather spend an extra 50bucks for all the convenience they offer and great service! 10. House number for each unit- Paradise, youcan clearly see at night, incase you get lost or trying to find your bungalow. They all look alike so being lost in the area is quite common. Bahia- numbers are too small. I had a hard time to find the room numbers as it's so small and dark alley way. Use led folks, it's 2024! It ain't no 1950s. 11. Staff that cleans are very respectful and attends to your needs right away! Any requests, they give it to you like towels, trash change, etc: They are happy workers at Paradise! Not sure where to start. I used to come here for regular staycations around 2010 for a few years, and we loved it with little kids! I recently had the opportunity to return for a work conference (October 2025) and was BEYOND DISAPPOINTED. The room AC was outdated, loud and kicked on and off constantly. The bed was terribly uncomfortable and the "comforter" was as thin as a sheet, I hardly slept. On the day of checkout, I went to the car to find it had been broken into and items were stolen (my Niece's carseat carrier and a pair of costly sunglasses). When I reported it to the front the desk they had fill out a report and basically said, "sorry, nothing we can do." I was told they would follow up with me. When I asked, "Is there a plan to to respond to what has happened with intention and demonstrate the care and consideration you expressed wanting to communicate?" The reply was, "While we deeply regret the impact this incident has had on your stay, we must respectfully inform you that the hotel will not be offering any compensation or concessions, as the property is not liable for damages related to this criminal act." From a simple customer service perspective, this response is unacceptable, not to mention the lack of security and safety on a resort property charging resort prices. You can decide for yourself, but I will never stay here again or recommend this place to anyone. I could have let the lack of comfort updates slide with quality customer service. People remember how you make them feel and this place made me feel like I was just another payment they could care less about. read more

For the ridiculous high prices they charge at this Resort, this place is very old and run down. It needs a lot of TLC. The groundskeepers are not doing a very good job. The pools need a major upgrade and so does the entire facility. We ate at one of the restaurants at the resort and the food was okay, but the drinks and service were horrible and we will never go back. The only real positive thing we could say about this place is the location of our Cabana which was right on the beach so we could watch the sunsets. read more

We came here for Mom's birthday, a "staycation" since we all live nearby. Rented three rooms, all listed as "deluxe". When I arrived at about 9pm, there was one woman staffing the front desk, and she was so swamped with calls from rooms asking for towels or whatever that it took her a while to find my reservation. Please - staff someone else to take calls - the person standing right there is always more important. All three of our rooms were near each other, which was nice. The buildings are old concrete block pillboxes that have had floor and furnishing upgrades. For the price, and the location, and the amenities, the rooms were adequate. In the past we've gotten one bay front suite as a family meeting place, we probably would have done that this time. I believe your choices are better/easier if you call the resort directly rather than booking online with an agency. Beds were very hard, and my wife would have preferred a suite since I snore even more than usual when I'm on a hard bed. The location can't be beat, it's right in the middle of Mission Bay. I brought bicycles, but I wouldn't next time - easier to just rent them there, and there's LOTS of boardwalk to pedal around the bay on. Dad didn't like the "feel" of the Barefoot Bar, and we had reservations elsewhere for dinner. We did go to the main pool and let my son play there - the rough "beach" is nice for little ones. We also climbed the tower (some of us several times!) and we rented a boat at the marina - probably the highlight of our visit. If we'd had more time we would have gone to the spa, and I would have tended to go to the on-site restaurants, though San Diego has MANY restaurant options. We didn't make the most of the on-site. Probably the best thing about the resort is all the landscaping - lots and lots of trees, ponds (that are all sort of green and brown with aeration fountains) lots of local birds including ducks near the lobby that you can feed. There were several wedding parties there on Saturday afternoon, and a uniform convention of some sort. I understand that this property has been bought by Jimmy Buffett - no, not his cousin Warren Buffett - and is due to be remodeled. I hope they will tear down all the hotel bunkers and rebuild, but it would be a shame to lose so much nice foliage. If they don't upgrade the rooms, I owe my Dad a margarita. read more

Staying at Paradise Point and having a wedding here was highly disappointing, to say the least. The rooms are in desperate need of renovation and are definitely not worth the high rates they charge. Most, if not all, of my guests complained about the poor customer service, uncleanliness of the rooms, and the foul odor in the area. My husband and I stayed in a bungalow on the beach side. One may argue that you are paying for the location but you're surrounded by filthy, smelly marine water and the surrounding walkways are covered in seagull poop. The bungalows are tiny rooms that cannot accommodate a bridal/groom party. Due to the rooms' outdated state, taking pictures inside the suite was not an option. Paradise Point did not offer to show us any of the rooms until after we signed the contract and after I made a request. Additionally, there is no security at the beaches so there are teens and young adults partying on the beaches late at night. Our Paradise Point representative Sydney even told us that we are free to be out on the beaches as late as we want since it is unpatrolled. It was strange that the staff were aware of this issue and even promoted it. My husband and I were unable to sleep the night before and the night of our wedding due to all the noise. I would not recommend families bring their young children for safety reasons, the likely contaminated waters, and the endless bird droppings. On the night of our wedding the ballroom was unbearably hot. We requested staff multiple times to turn up the AC, which they never did. Most of my guests were outside because they were sweating and uncomfortable. The hotel is also extremely wasteful with food. Beforehand they informed me the time at which all food would need to be taken away, but reassured me that there would be ample time for my guests to get seconds. However, in reality the staff were extremely aggressive at clearing plates from the tables even when my guests were still working on their meals. The staff did not provide extra plates at the buffet tables so there was no possible way for guests to get seconds. This resulted in excessive food waste. To think of how much food was thrown away, how much they charged for food, and how hungry my guests still were leaves me disgusted. They also got rid of our wedding cake even though we requested to have just one slice reserved for my husband and I. On that note, don't trust Paradise Point to prepare a decent meal for your guests. The cuisine was subpar even after I provided numerous notes/changes following a tasting. In regards to the open bar, we prepaid an amount that allowed our guests to drink abundantly. We had a signed agreement that we were to be notified when the bar limit was reached so we could make a decision whether to pay for a longer open bar or convert service to a cash bar. We were notified within the last hour of the wedding that we exceeded our limit and told multiple employees to close out our tab yet we were slammed with an additional bill following our wedding. We went back and forth for a month with staff contesting the bar and other charges that we were never made aware of before the wedding or at the time of the wedding. The incompetent staff at Paradise Point provided us with an unclear document with charges which did not match up with previous invoices.They gave us the run around for weeks while my husband and I tried to dissect the mismatching estimates/banquet event order/final invoice because the staff made no effort in delineating where the final balance was coming from. They argued that a substantial charge came from the bar alone which we proved to be erroneous as above. When we finally figured out that the large charge was a hidden service charge applied to the venue rental fee (which was not included in the final BEO), our representative, Sydney, acknowledged that she and her team did not outline this service charge in all previous documents but stated it is something she will implement in the future. Instead of them simply waiving this fee, they tried to offer us a complimentary 2-night stay which, btw, costs hundreds more than the disputed venue service charge-- which points to how egregiously they overprice their rooms. On top of that, although they originally sent us a link to make the final payment, Paradise Point charged our credit card DURING the back and forth dispute without informing us. There are still so many details of how Paradise Point failed us and our guests as a hotel and wedding venue but this review would be endless. In the end we are frustrated, angry, and saddened that we dealt with this. I strongly urge you to AVOID this tourist trap at all costs. I've stayed at multiple SD hotels and now am a local who can attest to much more favorable alternatives. Don't make the same mistake we did. Hope this helps. This is a beautiful resort in a fantastic location. I stayed here for a long weekend in November 2021, and I booked a king garden room through hotels.com (which worked out to be cheaper than reserving through the hotel directly. My room was gigantic (I mean huge!) but there were some things lacking. For example, I had a microwave, sink, fridge, and coffee maker, but no napkins or stir sticks, etc. You really can't beat the property. It is eye candy in every direction but the staff and the general setup of the place leaves a few things to be desired. For example, the entire resort is "cash-free," which I understand, but it was kind of annoying. For example, I just wanted to get some small bills so I could tip the bellhop and housekeeping, but somehow even the bar (which accepted cash?) was "cash-free"? I get the movement toward being cash-free, but then leave a venmo option or something for your staff. On the day of my check out, I stopped by the front desk and asked about arranging a golf cart to pick up my luggage around 11 am, figuring it would be busy at check-out time. The desk clerk said, "Sure, just call when you're ready." Well, of course, I called and it just rang and rang and rang for forever. The resort has an app, which seems like a cool thing, but it doesn't work or do anything... you can't even order the golf cart from the app! And, you need a map to navigate the large resort, and the app has a "map" tab, but it's totally useless because nothing is marked on it! I will say that I never heard my neighbors (other reviews mention paper-thin walls), but I have no idea if that room was rented or what. Overall, the natural beauty here earns the resort a good review. I read online that the Jimmy Buffett Margaritaville group bought out this resort, I hope they capitalize on the picturesque scenery and improve the service! read more
