This is a fantastic local spot to get your home-cooked Filipino food fix. The store is broken up into a supermarket with plenty of Asian goods, but most people I saw here were crowding the hot food line. I stopped by on a Sunday morning and there were quite a number of families here grabbing entree lunch plates. Everyone seemed pretty local and knew what they wanted and the staff was efficient, so the line moved pretty quickly. I ordered a bento chop steak with pancit, and it was a surprising amount of food. Even though it was just a bento portion (their smallest size), the box was stuffed full with pancit noodles and chop steak. Everything was savory and delicious and very reasonably priced at $7. I also rounded out my order with an ahi sinigang, which had two generous portions of ahi and salmon in it. The depth from the fish really helped to round out the gentle sour tamarind flavors in the broth. Only minor complaints are that everything tended to be a bit on the greasier side, and the occasional piece of steak was a little overcooked. Even still, definitely recommend checking out for Filipino comfort food at a very reasonable price!

Hands down the BEST banana lumpia I have ever had in my life! Every time I go to Maui, I HAVE to get their banana lumpia. It is so delicious and fresh and warm and BIG. The outside glaze is sweet and crunchy while the inside is soft and chewy. AMAZING!

This is based only on the delicious halo halo I had here, and not about the store in general. I was turned on to halo halo and apparently these people know how to do it right, with fresh ingredients in the bottom that included sweet potatoes, coconut jelly, and avocado! It was a real treat - and healthy too! Parking was easy in their private lot right off Wakea. I'll be back for another one.

    Can't deny it.

My cousin and I were running some errands in this neck of the woods. He said they had good fresh fish here and Filipino eats as well. AMBIANCE: Parking: A small parking plaza but it's not that packed so you shouldn't have an issue. Seating: All inside for group seatings for about 24 people and 6-8 groups. Feels: It's not in your touristy time so it can be a little hard to find. The inside itself is a simple hybrid of a store and casual restaurant. Not a high end spot, just your every day Filipino ma and pa spot. You'll hear the chatter of hardworkers with the pleasant scents of food. Great spot if you're looking for some hearty food without the superfluous flashiness. FOOD: 3 Plate Combo (Recommend This may be a hole in the wall spot and nothing fancy bu my good comfort was lechon, adobo, and sun fish w/ a hybrid of rice and noodles. All savory with that oily comfortness. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great. Titas and titos there were awesome. TL; DR OVERALL: 4 stars. Price was reasonable, food was delicious, and my experience was pleasant. If I wanted to avoid the tourist stuff then this is the spot. I wouldn't mind coming back here especially if I'm in need for that good Filipino comfort. #FilipinoFoodMovement Tips: * For some old fashion turo turo selections. This is your spot.

Pork and peas, pork and pumpkin, pancit and rice

Still my favorite spot for Filipino food on Maui after all these years. I liked Vidad's, but they moved to a food truck in Kihei now which is out of my way. Bistro Manila is good for sit down meals. Golden Coin I was not really impressed with, the few times I've been....I could name a few other establishments, but overall for value and quality - dine in or take out, or even catering, Paradise is the place to go. I had stopped going for a few months as I had run into some problems with too much fat or gristle in the meats there, but they seem to be back on track. The food can still be greasy at times, but if you've got plenty of rice (not just pancit) it helps. The food has always been well portioned and flavorful. And I've never gotten sick from their hot line, most importantly. My favorites include the pork and peas, pork and pumpkin, and chicken papaya. Tried their beef lauya (soup with beef and cabbage) for the first time. Extremely greasy but very tender and seasoned well. Reminded me of corned beef and cabbage in a soup but with stew meat. I enjoyed it though. They're always pretty busy around dinner time, but the line moves quickly. Reasonably priced and centrally located. Easy for take out or to eat in at the few tables they have. I'll continue to frequent them for my Filipino food cravings and recommend them to anyone looking to try some authentic dishes in a comfortable, unassuming atmosphere.

3.5* for me, but not quite 4. Paradise is one of the bigger Filipino stores on the island and I come here every so often throughout the year. The one thing that I think they really have going for them is their hot food section. This is the main reason that I come to the store, especially if I am craving Filipino food. I think the same goes for most of the patrons of the store. My mom is weird and unlike most Filipino mothers, has stopped cooking for me since I went away to college (unless I request for something very specific of course) so I have to find it somewhere else. Lol. I've tried a variety of their dishes from the lumpia, pork adobo, chicken adobo, longanisa, to their pork & peas. Everything is usually pretty good! The one dish that I always have to get though is their chopped steak. Flavors, seasoning, everything is always consistently good. I highly recommend getting the chopped steak! They serve their hot foods in plate lunches (choice of rice, noodles, or 1/2 and 1/2 + # entree choices), containers (1 entree in S, M, or L container), or pans for large parties. The ladies behind the counter usually give generous portions and a 2 entree plate can usually get me through a few meals. Enjoy your food to go or inside where they have tables and chairs. Throughout the rest of the store you will find pretty standard Filipino goods - shampoos, soaps, & conditions, chichiria (snacks), various noodles for pancit, bagoong, tocino (my fav), baked goods (pianono, bibingka, bread). There's meat, frozen goods (fishball, meatballs, lumpia, etc), fresh caught fish, & produce. It's definitely worth checking out if you're in need of some Asian ingredients!

Love the variety! Great for a break between classes! Always fresh pork rinds to - go!

Chopped Steak & Chicken Papaya (2 item combo) - VN

While there's no change in rating, I did try another dish due to one of my favorites, mungo beans, not being available. FOOD: Chicken Papaya The first couple of sips lit up my tastebuds but it ended up being too vinegary. What was vinegar doing in this dish in the first place? Anyway, the slices of green papaya were firm, and they use chicken wingettes as opposed to boneless breasts which was a positive for me. Axe the vinegar please! Roast Pork - $7.95 (medium container) The slices of pork had both dry and tender pieces, drowning in gravy, just how I like it. It was tasty but just a tad bit too salty. TIPS: The hot line of foods are ready and waiting at 7am! Thankfully the fly situation has been fixed.

    Barbie S.

I've eaten here several times. The lechon and roast pork are my personal favorites. I've tried other dishes and they were excellent but I make sure the pork dishes are part of my 3 item plate. If you are looking for home cooked Filipino food made with pride and love - eat here! I'm not crazy about the supermarket but the buffet of food is amazing. One less star because the vegetable and meat section in the supermarket could look and be better.

It was a short 5 min hop over from the airport to Da Tambayan Corner and parking in the adjacent lot was easy. Their food style is Filipino with a Hawaiian twist if you hadn't discerned it from their name. They have a build-your-own-combo grindz menu that you can pick a couple of proteins with rice options or check out the picture menu if you really don't know what to get. My wife went for the combo of Pork Adobo & Garlic Butter Shrimp with Mac & Green Salad, both very flavorful choices. Her friend went double pork action with Chinese Roast Pork Belly & Calamansi Grilled Pork Belly and Pancit Bihon Noodles as her side. The Chinese roast pork belly was as crispy good as any I've seen in any Chinatown. My Seafood Trio had a Miso Glazed Salmon Fillet, 3 Baked Mussels, 2 Shrimp Tempura and topped with Kaboyaki sauce & Thai Chili Aioli. The Shrimp were not the typical panko coated but battered and tasted good drizzled with the 2 sauces. The mussels are topped with a heavy cheesy mayo sauce and baked. Of course, it wouldn't be a Hawaiian plate lunch without a scoop of white rice and a scoop of mac salad. All this wasn't enough and our friend went back to chat with the chef and came back with a double serving of banana lumpia in crunchy spring roll wrap and drenched in heavy syrup. This was an excellent dessert and wrap up to a great lunch. We were so stuffed, we had to skip dinner!

I went here right after getting off the airport to get some quick comfort food before checking in to my stay in Kīhei and Tagpuan happened to be on the way. I ordered the chicken Inasal and pork lumpia and from those two simple dishes I could tell that this place was legit. IMO that inasal's definitely better than Mang Inasal back in PI and much better than the Inasal I've had in the Bay Area so hopefully that hypes it up enough. Kept coming back almost every single day till I left to go back to the mainland. In that time I also had the grilled liempo (pork belly), crispy pork belly, and longanisa sliders - all excellent dishes. Really love the sauce selections they use for their dishes too - pretty good balance of acid to cut the fat making the dishes feel not too heavy. The food truck is currently nestled in what seems to be an auto shop lot. There's a nice clean bathroom access via the auto shop near the food truck itself. Lots of parking, a few benches to eat at, and of course, really good food. The couple that run Tagpuan are incredibly kind and hard working people. Would highly recommend - not only to support a local business owner (who's from Lāhainā) but because they serve genuinely good and authentic Filipino food.

Plus they play some nice music on a small speaker at the truck. We ordered the Ahi Poke Nachos and this dethroned our previous favorite from another spot down the road. It is a bit spicy so just be aware. So worth it. Lots of flavor and plenty poke to chip ratio. We also ordered the chicken Inasal since our kid would eat it. She's picky but ate plenty chicken. It has a very nice charred smoky flavor and still super tender and moist. We need to try the other items for sure so we will 100% be back. We got to meet the owners Rocky and Maine?
