I haven't had Filipino food in over 20 years and this place really hit the spot! My husband was a first timer and he absolutely loved the food. We had the chicken adobo, kare kare, sari sari and the halo halo. We shared a 3 entree course and it was a generous portion, and very reasonably priced. We would definitely go back! read more

Since the owner wanted some clarification. Here ya go: - The lady that handles the cash register and the money from my dirty shorts (lol) is ALSO THE SAME LADY THAT HANDLES THE FOOD. No gloves, no hand washing, no antibacterial. dohhhh! Paradise Supermart is one of the better filipino stores on Maui. This store is a family-owned business that has been around for awhile so it's really popular among the local community. Just like the name implies, it's a supermarket, but not a big supermarketing like Safeway. It has the necessary things like juice, vegetables (filipino vegetables of course), snacks, etc. Their grocery goods are however on the pricier side, but what this place is good for is their wide variety of fresh seafood, awesome filipino vegetables/food/goods, and their filipino hot food line! This is a good place to grab a quick plate lunch if you're on the go, or have lunch/dinner with family and friends because they do have a seating area for those who decide to stay. There is no wait service, so you just choose what you want in your plate (normally 2 choices and rice), pay, and enjoy your food. They also do catering for parties. They deliver to where your party is located. You can also order pans if you want to pick-up for a potluck. A private parking lot in available, right in front of the store, but it does get busy during peak time hours (4pm, 5pm), then there's additional parking about two lots away. read more

Found this little gem via Yelp while in Maui. A totally non-descript supermarket in a random strip, about a mile from the airport. Supermarket part is nothing special. But they also serve hot filipino food - some of the best I've had. Pancit was off the hook, chicharron and lechon were tasty, even this pumpkin dish was amazing. Portions are very generous and prices are cheap. It's definitely a little dingy inside....but honestly, I wasn't grocery shopping. Went there to try the food and left happy! read more

The Pancit was spoiled! I came by around 12 noon, I was looking forward to eating my lunch, drove home and when I opened my plate the pancit smelled like it was spoiled! Used the fork to move it around and it was clumping together, and it smelled bad. Because I live far from there I just threw it away, probably won't go back, if ever, not for a long time. Great turo turo (prepared) food. Fresh and flavorful. Authentic--like my Lolo's cooking --goodness. Good selection of sticky/sweet Filipino desserts too. I'd stay away from the grocery area though. It's a bit dirty, stuff on the shelves are old...and overpriced. Really about 3.5 stars We were in Maui for 10 days and on Day 9 the family all wanted filipino food. We went to this place for lunch.They have a large selection of hot food. I ordered the munga beans and chicken adobo that came with two scoops of rice, my wife had pinakbet and a kind of tinola(chicken with bitter melon). We ordered pacit for the kids and shared everything. It was goo to ok. The abobo was chicken wings so more sauce and less chicken. The munga beans were ok, my mother-in-law makes alot better... My wife said the same about her dishes. We did enjoy it though and we were stoked that it only cost $21 including bottled water. It was a delight to be pointed by at least 4 different people to this place during my Maui vacation. It was my last day and in a way it worked out for my health, because otherwise I'll be here a lot! First, I've never seen such a wide variety of Filipino food on display. It must be at least 25 different dishes! It was overwhelming. I chose the string bean with squash, pancit canton and lechon with Mang Tomas sauce and ate on the spot. I wanted to order them all, but the portions were large, I could only eat half of what they already gave. I probably ate too much too fast, or had too much grease (the lechon) because I felt sick afterwards. The food was very authentic and made no excuses for the amount of fat and salt. I go here sometime if I ran out of Asian items for my kitchen . The last time I was here happened to buy a plate lunch when I was craving for cooked Filipino dishes, I ordered pinakbet and when I was eating it I noticed that some of the strings beans were freshly cooked and some were old cooked , how I wish the owner of this place know and supervise the staffs at the counter and should not put together the left overs from the old pan to the newly cooked pan , I know that they are saving and don't want to waste food but locals who come eat once in a while are very particular to food they eat , It would be better to keep freshly cooked food in a pan separate from the old cooked food . read more

I love Filipino food and like to stop in here however I don't come as often as I'd like. Two reasons why I stay away, I am not Filipino and look like I may not understand. Sometimes I notice that I am given a smaller amt (by far, sometimes even the container used is a smaller size than I'm paying for) and other times I hear rude comments about me. I never really ventured into this place since it opened a few years back. It wasn't until the start of this year that I went to get the full experience. I always passed it while traveling on Wakea Avenue and always saw their parking lot full of cars but just didn't go in. Then one evening, with the coaxing of my sister, we went to get some dinner. The first thing that greets you is their hot food section. To the right is their eating area and to the left is their market. I'm going to concentrate on their food. With at least 20+ entree choices this place pretty much offers everything you could be hungry for in Filipino food. Rice or noodles, then your choice of entree(s). You can also get single servings of your favorites. They do take-out or you can enjoy your meal at their eating area. Heck, they even cater! I always get the pork adobo, pancit and pulehu meat. Everything looks so good but I'm a creature of habit, so this satisfies me anytime! There is also a variety of Filipino desserts which they place in front of the hot food, and by the registers (good marketing plan). We've been back for lunch (and of course dinner). This place can get busy but the line usually goes fast. It is very simple local grocery store but their lunch buffet is a great deal and very tasty. Sometimes, they had hard time understand customer orders, but are very nice. This was a great find in Kahului near the airport. THe super market is a bit hole in the wall, but there is a great casual restaurant on the side that had really yummy prepared dishes. Great selection of prepared food. We had their garlic rice spam musubi (I've only seen it here). the garlic rice is a nice touch, and we also had their pancit with shrimp paste. Many choices for traditional dishes like lumpia, pancit, sinegang, barbecue, lechon kiwali, dinuguan, pakbet, fried fish, etc. They give nice big helpings, and you can have double scoop rice or half pancit/chow fun, and half-rice. They also had yummy fried banana fritters, warm and sweet and perfect dessert! They are not on the steam table but to the side, wrapped in styrofoam trays, easy to miss. My only disappointment was no hot pandesal. Being vegan, there were no choices for me which I expected. But, if you like traditional homecooked Filipino meal, lots of meat and grease, you will definitely enjoy like my husband and kids did. My first time eating Filipino food (except for one dish my aunt makes called adobo). I was very excited and a bit hesitant because I really did not know what the other dishes would look like. In the end, I think I like my aunts adobo better, BUT, the other 2 meats I tried and the stir fried noodles were awesome. And now I know what Filipino food really tastes like. It was all very good.
