I use to go here for years and started having bad experiences so I decided to change optometrists. The receptionists were always so rude and didn't care, all they wanted to do was up-charge for anything. My mom started going there and they were so rude to her, she told them that the glasses they prescribed to her didn't fit her vision, they didn't care and proceeded to tell her that she would have to buy new ones and wanted to charge her more money instead of fixing the problem from there end. They screamed at her and told her they couldn't help her, they only wanted to charge her more when she already had spent a great amount of money! Don't go here! read more

I just left Family Optimetry! Do not go here! The customer service is terrible! I brought glasses here last year and the lenses kept popping out, the glasses falling off of my face smh. So, today I brought my own glasses in trying to get my prescription filled, the lady at the front said i couldn't get them refilled until I get seen by the Doctor. Dr. Merino was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient, and his office is well-managed, clean and COVID safe, and is modern, using the latest technology. He thoroughly answered all of my questions, explained everything well, was reassuring and professional. And the visit was great. I staff ( receptionist is rude) I been calling for few days and she keeps hanging up pretends can not hear anything.. Prior to this incident few months back (again rude Unprofessional Receptionist) give an appointment for my son and I when I arrived she said my appointment was for the following week which was not true I had wrote down on my calendar and requested the day off from my work.. I tried explaining to her my situation and to please take me in since I was already there she didn't even care to listen I requested to speak with her manager said she was not in than her next response was "so do I cancel your upcoming appointment".. at the moment I was very upset and cancelled my appointment.. imfew days later called again to speak with a manager and again she was not in according to the receptionist.. Dr. Lim, the optometrist and owner of this establishment is a great person to work with and has a great sense of humor. He recommends his best medical opinion and genuinely cares about your eyesight. He's very smart and definitely knows what he's doing. After my contacts fitting, he had me follow up twice before he can confirm which contacts worked best for me. -$65 for a contact fitting w/ prescription - follow ups are free *purchasing contacts w/ them are optional* Those who wear contacts know that you can't obtain a contact prescription without the glasses one. This eye location accepts glasses prescription from a different optometrist which is a huge plus because many offices don't. I had a Kaiser one but chose to come here for the contact exam because Kaiser charged $100+ for that alone. I will say the customer service/front desk can use some improvement but Dr. Lim 's work and energy is enough to keep me around. Finding an affordable and good optometrist is difficult! read more

In 2015 I had come​ in during their on hour of walk-ins (1pm ) because I woke up with severe pink eye symptoms. I'm not from the area and live up north Monterey Bay County. It didn't take long to get seen. As soon as I was called in, Dr. Lim asked questions if my cheeks are bright pink at any given season and I said yes and continued with the exam. He said I had Ocular Rocsea. He recommended me to get gel drops for eye hydration because regular dry eye drops won't work and routine eye care instructions. Very thankful for this doctor. My own eye doctor didn't care of my symptoms and never treated. I had asked my primary doctor for a dermatologist referral for a 'suspicious mole' (it's very difficult or impossible to get referrals). Once I had a dermatologist (Dr. Friend of Monterey) I also mentioned about my rocsea and my visit to Dr. Lim. She agreed and has been prescribing me Minocycline 100mg 2x a day along with eye care routine. I felt like it saved me. My vision was so blurry I couldn't read the license​ plates from drivers in front of me while my own eye doctor said i have perfect vision. read more

It's hard to find a REAL optometrist that can do it all. Glasses, yearly exams, contacts, HARD contacts and make you feel relaxed. You never just go to the eye doctor to find good news. Eyes can sometimes just get worse. But that's where Dr Lim's relaxed attitude comes in. A doctor that will make any situation have solutions and recommendations. I've been going to Dr Lim since I was 8 years old (now 28yrs old). Though the location, and workers have changed, his practice and character has not. His interests are seen all over the office,...from the water tanks filled with fishes, to the immense variety of displays for Oakley and frame brands alike. That is a personable office. Not once have I seen the staff stressed or in a hurry. It starts from the top. From what I've seen, he does not rush patients, and has a passion for the practice. My first time going here, doctor's order was to have anti-reflection on my lenses and I added a few things to the lenses, after receiving my glasses I noticed that the lenses did not have anti-reflection on them, I called in to tell them about it and the doctor's assistant told me I didn't added to the lenses in another words telling me it was my fault and that if I want it anti-reflection that I need it to pay for new lenses, why do I need to pay again if I did not make the mistake not only that but she tried to make me responsible for it when it was the OD's prescription, she was very unproffesional abd very rude but I will not keep my hands crossed I will report it to the consumers affairs office, the bbb departmantment and the ftc department, and if I have to I will take this matter to court. read more

My first time here was a good experience. I found them by searching within my insurance's website. I called and easily set up an appointment for a Saturday. Unfortunately I had arrived 30min past my appt but they still took me in which I dearly appreciated since I was on my last pair of contact lenses. The girls were really friendly. I waited for about 20 min and I was seen. Dr Lim was great. Very knowledgable funny man. He assessed my needs and, since I am super blind,( literally! legally blind) he billed my lenses as medically necessary so that my insurance could cover the cost fully. So, besides the lenses I wanted frames too. I looked around and I saw a couple pairs I liked but I felt it was too pricey. So I decided to purchase frames elsewhere and bring them in for the actual lens placement. I have yet to drop them off so I'll be updating this review soon. read more

Called to confirm appointment before I headed there. I had an appointment at 2:30pm and arrived at 2:10 filled out paperwork and waited. One hour went by I was ok with that because I know things happens.. 1 hour and a half went by okay this is ridiculous. Two hours went by and yeah I about lost all the patience I had for the day. Receptionists kept saying I was next.. I was next but was not next. I was finally called in at 4:30pm! If they would have told me when I called to confirm my appointment that they were overbooked with appointments and I won't be seen until about two hours later I would have came later. They need to work on scheduling because that was crazy. I spent about 15 minutes with the doctor he was friendly and had good bedside manners. I made an appointment for 10:15 and was told it would take about 20 minutes for the examination. Well, it's 11am now and all I've done was fill 3 pieces of paper out with my name and address. His wife who is also an optometrist there is extremely rude and disrespectful. My son kept having problems with a particular brand frame she recommended a frame just like it but a different brand I was concerned that I would keep having the same issue with it. She told me if I did we will deal with it if it happened. Well it happened and she did not stick by her work she was very rude she yelled at me and she also insinuated that I'm not a good mother. My family and I had been coming here for about 10 years and Dr. Lim is great! but I recently visited again for my annual eye exam and there is absolutely terrible terrible customer service! The receptionists are all very rude and not helpful whatsoever, they seem to not understand the directions given by Dr. Lim and do not care to understand them. Selection of frames is also very slim.
