This place is a small factory tucked away. Upon entering, you're in a very small lobby, but you'll be greeted by friendly staff! You can also find their piroshkis at Safeway. I believe the owner came down from the stairs to give us a sample of their beef and cheese piroshki and it was so good! The people here are fantastic and so are the piroshkis. The only downside is that you have to buy in bulk, but don't worry, you'll want to! The beef and cheese is their best seller, so I recommend trying that first. This a wonderful family owned business and I've been going here for about 20 years. My daughter was turning 13 and she said "Daddy, can you get me some Piroshki's from that place I love for my birthday?". Sooo....I bought her a case and she was ecstatic. What an awesome place. My friend and I went there together. By the time we had gotten there they were already closed. We decided to take our chances and we rang the doorbell, and THANK GOD we did because shortly after the owner whom is the nicest man ever opened the door, welcomed us in warmed up two pirashki's for us we talked, are, and laughed. This is my first time trying a Piroshki or even hearing of them. Let me say- this gem is WONDERFUL!!!!! I ordered the Beef and Cheese and also the Chicken and Rice. Len was EXTREMELY helpful, and I could hear the passion in his voice as he serviced me and explained the history of their family business. I tried the beef and cheese Piroshki and it is a flavor explosion. The outside puts you in the mind of a Beignet, and the inside is a savory, well seasoned meat and cheese combo. I specifically signed up for a yelp account to review these guys. I'm a long time fan of piroshkis and these are definitely my favorite in the bay area. As another reviewer mentioned already, this is not a store location but you can still buy piroshkis from them directly. Due to the factory setting, a minimum dozen is required for purchase at their new San Leandro location. If you do go, keep your eyes peeled for the address, it's easy to miss as there is no large sign. Also, be sure to ring the doorbell and allow some time for someone to answer the door. You'll be rewarded for your efforts as these are delicious. I started out buying a single dozen my first time here and ended up getting 8 dozen recently for family and coworkers after reintroducing them to a forgotten food love. I live almost 50 miles away but still make the trek to pick these up. If you're in my situation, I'd suggest checking with friends, family and other associates for interest since there aren't many opportunities to buy these outside of here or SF and many people like these but don't have an opportunity to experience them. Nothing but 5 stars from every legit review here on yelp, what else can I say? Go get these piroshkis! read more

So I was in the area and needed to find a quick bite . So Yelped away, and told my pops- we are having Piroshkis ! Mind you, I just trolled the delicious looking piroshki pics and the high star rating, so needless I was surprised when we arrived at the location. My Pops, " um , it looks closed . Oh use other door! Um, it looks closed, is this even a bakery? Where are the window cases showing the piroshkis? ". So it felt odd, but i went and rang the doorbell, and a guy comes out answers the door, let's me in and locks it right after. "Oh, my dad is outside too!" He let's him in. I explained my yelp excitement about wanting to try their stuff, so he leaves, and says he'll be right back. My dad is laughing now and still saying " I thought this was a bakery?" So the nice guy comes back and hands us 2 warm piroshkis on the house!! Wow! So nice, right? He explains this is the factory where everything is made. Not a retail, but can order by the case. JOSH!! I heard about this place from a friend. First time I went there I thought it was closed. So I ended up leaving. Second time I came back and rang the doorbell. They answered the door right away. They were really helpful. Love the chicken/rice piroshki and pizza one. They let me try a sample freshly made. I'm excited to try the puff pasty in chicken and spinach/feta which are baked fresh. Not bad. It's great that their food is available. I purchased the Beef and Cheese Piroshkis and the dough/filling balance isn't right for me. The turkey dogs in the Turkey Bagel Dogs aren't that tasty. I'll try the Beef Bagel Dogs next time. Been raiding them for piroshkis for almost 20 years now, since they were San Francisco. They are, simply put, da bomb.

I didn't realize it, but they are not a "traditional" bakery, even though they are listed under "bakeries." I was going there to pick up some treats for my work, but ended up taking away a dozen frozen piroshkis in a box to bake for another day. Super nice staff and delicious piroshkis.
