I have been coming to ParkGrounds for years, long before the coffee shop got its slushie machines. The shop has plenty of tables and outlets to do work without feeling like you're elbow to elbow with other customers, and you can have a working breakfast or lunch since there are always pastries and more substantial sandwiches and breakfast plates made in the kitchen. My only gripe would be that breakfast isn't served all day, but that's just because I like the Kirkwood plate so much. ParkGrounds is also good for working because it's just so dang homey inside, with cushions lining some of the wooden tables and a couple of couches inside as well. I feel like a lot of the newer cafes in Atlanta go for that modern and minimal vibe, which is attractive to look at, don't get me wrong! But when I'm working for hours on end, my bony asian ass really just needs something more comfortable. The same baristas have been working here for years and there are a lot of neighborhood regulars, which speaks volumes about ParkGrounds. Although I come here to work on my laptop, there are plenty of other customers coming in for a beer while they watch their dogs play. Sure, the coffee drinks can be a little inconsistent now and then, but I overlook this because everything else outweighs the bad. read more

PROS: Great concept, with tons of potential. The iced coffee is strong and smooth. The other dog owners (and their pet companions) are nice, as is the staff. Good location, nice amount of space for dogs to play. It's nicely shaded. The leaves rustle in the breeze. They not only have coffee but they also have beer and food so it's convenient when you want a drink and let your babies play around in the dirt. Although, not sure how the food would work given that the dogs are likely to jump on your table and jack your fixins' plus why would anyone want to eat on the dirty a** oxidized tables. CONS: Dirty a** oxidized tables, smelly, old, rusted. The wifi doesn't reach the backyard. It's all dirt- no grass (and the dirt is dirrrrty)! The place is all around kinda dirty and not very well maintained. There's about as many cigarette butts lying around as there is dog crap. I think the metro passes right underneath because every 2-3 minutes you can hear the echoes of a passing train. OVERALL: I came to use the wifi while my dogs played and I was unable to do this because the wifi didn't reach me. My dogs were totally over this place in like 5 minutes, ready to go home. I love grungy hole in the walls with lots to offer, hype sucks and so do pretentious places, but as much as I wanted to love Parkgrounds, this just wasn't that great. 5 stars for the idea, 2 stars for the execution. read more

I took my puppy here for her first dog park experience and had a really nice time relaxing with my fiance and chatting with other dog lovers while my dog ran and played. Dogs are not allowed inside the cafe so it's easier to come as a group if you aren't confident leaving your dog alone. All of the dogs that we saw were playful and well behaved. The only cons when we visited is the lack of wood chips created muddy corners but, it has been raining a lot lately. Also, not every owner cleans up after their pet so beware of rogue dook. Finally stopped by to check out this place because of the dog park. My iced dirty chai and breakfast sandwich was really good. I like the idea of the dog area, and it is a good size....but it is ALL dirt. Not just flat ground with no grass, but actively like one to two inches thick of dirt on the ground mixed with a small amount of wood chips. You probably should avoid flip flops or any shoes you like if you'll be back there. And be prepared to clean your dog off when you get home! read more

One of my favorite things about my neighborhood is Parkgrounds. Besides the fact that I love supporting local businesses, this place is truly unique. It's part coffee shop, part café, part dog park....AND they just started serving beer and wine! Here's the rundown: Coffee: Ok, I don't drink caffeine, but they have an amazing decaf soy latte that hits the spot. I've heard from my regular coffee-drinking friends that the coffee is excellent quality with lots of options to jazz it up if you want to. Food: Really good mix of breakfast and lunch stuff and lots of veggie options. The vegan burrito is my favorite! Wine and Beer: A NEW addition here! They offer several beer options in bottles and cans and also a really unique wine selection that's priced reasonably. It's not just your average cheap Merlot & Chardonnay offering...instead you've got Pinot Noir, Chenin Blanc, Tempranillo...no yellow tail here! I recently enjoyed a few glasses of red with a friend while we sat in the dog park watching our pups. It was delightful! Dog Park: The dog area is a good-sized yard that's attached to the building, but separated by a high fence from the patio, so dogs can't jump on you while you are eating. It's also fenced in on all sides. I always sit inside the dog area since I bring my dogs here to play (there's plenty of chairs and some tables). This is probably obvious, but if you are inside the dog area, know that you will be jumped on, slobbered on, licked etc by dogs, so don't be stupid and wear nice clothes that you don't want to get dirty. I've read some of the reviews that talk about how the dogs area is not maintained, dogs left unattended, dogs that don't play nice etc. Yes, it's true that some dog OWNERS that come here need to be trained...here are some tips: 1. Pick up your dog's poop. Parkgrounds makes it easy with three bag stations - they provide the bags too, so there's no excuse. In addition, the employees clean the yard on a regular basis. 2. Don't leave your dog unattended. It's not ok to drop your dog off inside the dog area, then sit inside for hours. If you're not there someone else has to take the responsibility and jump in if a dangerous situation happens with your pet. Not cool! 3. Know if your dog shouldn't be here. Be honest with yourself...if your dog is aggressive towards other dogs or people, don't bring him here. AND you don't have to have a dog to come here...just come up, sip some coffee (or some wine), enjoy some food and relax in the sun! read more

5 big whopping stars for the concept. A place where I can work while Tikka gets exercized and socialized? Yes, please! 4 stars, sadly, in actuality. As Todd noted, the place is kinda dingy and dirty. Typically not a problem for me, but it should be made obvious for those of y'all who may not like it. The barista was quite friendly, and I ordered up a diet coke (yay for 8 oz glass bottles) and a lemon coconut muffin. I was seriously intrigued by the muffin, and despite it apparently being the barista's favorite, it was a hearty "alright." I'll definitely return to try out more of the food offerings, as they had a much more complete menu than most coffee shops around town. I loooooved the dog park. Loved that they had tables both within the play area and slighty set aside, perfect for me and my neurotic separation-anxious pup. While most of the dog owners were very attentive, there were, of course, a few bad seeds who allowed their pups to growl and shit all over the place, without looking up from their books. Worse still, there were people who chose to be inside while their pups played, despite the gorgeous weather. To those people I say booooooooo. I had heard great things about this place, so my husband and I were excited to sip some coffee and watch our Frenchie mix dog play with other dogs. Unfortunately, the experience sucked so bad. No one followed park rules, no one was keeping an eye on their dogs so there was shit everywhere, mere feet from where people were eating. Small dog fights broke out and no one supervised, our small dog was ganged up on by a German shepherd and we couldn't even figure out who the owner was, the customers were completely ignoring us at their tables while their dogs ran wild. There was also no water out for the dogs, so I went to refill it and practically every dog came running for water like their life depended on it. It's 95 degrees outside, but no one checked the bowl! The dog fights continued with our little Frenchie, so we opted to leave. On our way out I lost my glasses, or possibly someone took them when I put them down. NO ONE helped me when I asked around, everyone seemed inconvenienced. It was really horrible. I ordered coffee and beer, service was fine but indifferent. Maybe this is a neighborhood joint where new people are barely tolerated, ignored, and possibly robbed? I definitely won't be back, and it's a shame because the concept seemed awesome. If you want an alternative to Piedmont Park's dog park, this may be a solution for you- Park Grounds is a new place that opened in Reynoldstown where you can let your pooch run a big, fenced-in yard, while you enjoy a day out with your dog. They serve coffee, tea, soda, desserts, and fruit, amongst other things, and they also have wireless if you want to bring your laptop and surf the net while your dog interacts with other pups. But what the dogs really loved is their doggie ice cream! We went there for my friend's dog's birthday and they all got their own ice cream and my chihuahuas got brain freeze and started shaking in 85 degree weather! I do have a concern about this place- when I went there, there were people who came, dropped their dog off in the yard, then went and sat inside for the rest of the time they were there. That is not cool, folks. When your giant dog is trying to rough house with my chihuahua it makes me mad. I was there with friends who also had small dogs and they couldn't even play- our dogs had to sit on our laps while we tried to get these two rambunctious dogs off of them. So I think they need a rule about people supervising their dogs. Sure, go inside and get a Coke, but come back outside and keep your dog in line please! Also, in the future, I think they should fence off a corner for little dogs that can easily be trampled by an overzealous St. Bernard (yes, there was an unsupervised one in the yard that day) so that the little ones can all play with each other. But otherwise, it was very nice to sit outside on that sunny Sunday afternoon with my friends and celebrate Mick's birthday. read more

This is the only coffee shop I've found in Atlanta that has couches! I LOVE coffee shops with couches! They have a few vegan food options that are actually really good! So basically this is my favorite coffee shop in Atlanta, hands down. Couches + Coffee + Liquor + Vegan food = WIN! If you're lucky enough to have a nice dog (as opposed to a totally insane dog, like I have) then you can eat delicious vegan food, drink a beer, and let your dog run around leash free outdoors. Parkgrounds wins. Maybe there are other coffee shops out there with dogparks attached, but in my somewhat short yet geographically extensive survey of The Cafés of Hamerica, I haven't found another yet. I don't even own a dog, but I love this place. Hidden deep in the middle of a residential neighbourhood called Reynoldstown, there isn't much else out here to do or see. It would be a bit of a trek to Little Five Points or downtown, or even the next closest retail presence. However, the staff is great, the coffee is good, parking is easy, wifi is fast and proper free, and the snacks were decent as far as I can recall. There's a lending library in the corner, and obviously a place outside that you can go to take a phone call and step in some poop. I didn't do that, just suggesting in case that's your thing. I talked with some of the other customers, as well as the owner. Places like this are what makes neighbourhoods great, and I wish I lived near here. I drove in from Ponce and Piedmont for a week, and liked the area so much I moved to Inman Park for the next week so I could be closer. I still drove to Parkgrounds though, can't get proper road-trip blobby if you walk places. Thanks for the good times. read more

The perfect balance! Friendly staff, tasty coffee, fun dogs, decent music played at a reasonable level, free wifi and plenty of power outlets, so feel free to bring your friends and your friends' laptops. Oh, and ALMOND milk! This may be the only coffee house in the country to offer almond milk, perfect for those of us allergic to dairy AND soy. Which is more of us than you think. And there's plenty of parking right there on the street just outside the front door, and on all sides of the dog park. I never have to walk more than thirty paces from car door to coffee house, so I'm not sure why people complain about parking. Also there's a full bar, food, board games, Mexican cokes, orange Fanta in the bottle, Counter Culture coffee by the bag, local art, reading material. Why go anywhere else, ever? read more

I first visited Park Grounds for the Atlanta Craft Mafia meet & greet. I was so excited to find this awesome treasure tucked back into Reynoldstown. I went to graduate school in Seattle. While there I perfected the art of evaluating a coffee shop based on all the features that it needs to really keep me coming back.....it's way more than just coffee. Good coffee is kind of a given, if you don't have that you're in the wrong business. Park Grounds has all the features of my favorite Seattle spots such as: - A nice selection of non-coffee drinks. Sometimes I like to switch it up, so having a nice variety of teas is key for me. - Reliable, free wifi. I'm a coffee shop studier, I needs my internets. - Tasty food! I've been known to park it at a coffee shop for many hours of studying. Nothing is worse than having to stop the study flow once you're in the zone to change locations just so you can eat. - A variety of comfy seating. Sometimes you need to spread out at a table other times you want to curl up on the couch. - Walking or bike riding distance from my house. In Seattle this was easy, but not quite so much in Atlanta. I live in East Atlanta so this is just a short bike ride away. And of course the best bonus of all, Park Grounds has a dog park! I don't actually have a dog. Sometimes I feel like a dog pedophile when I'm at dog parks, longing to pet them all and take them home with me. Having a dog park at my coffee shop is the perfect way for me to get my fix of sweet puppy attention, without the guilt of not having the time to spend with one of my own. read more

Park Grounds is good for two things: letting your dogs run around and enjoying conversation with a human pal. Other than that, there's not much to rave about. My girlfriend and I (plus our super pups) decided to venture down to Flat Shoals Ave on a weekend afternoon. It was hotter than blazes outside so we didn't stay long. Upon showing up, she accidentally made the mistake of walking into the coffee shop with her dog. A staff member screamed "Get that dog out of here!" which was loud enough to be heard from the street. Granted, her pup shouldn't have tried to walk in the restaurant but I thought the rudeness was unnecessary. We got our dogs settled in the yard then popped inside for cool beverages. The menu selection is scanty and overpriced. We each got a bottle of water and sipped slowly while chatting and watching the dogs play. It was nice to catch up while our pups ran around; but as Kathleen and Todd said, this place is kinda dingy and dirty. I normally do not take "Francis" on business trips with me because he is a very high strung breed of dog and strange locations, smells and stimuli can really do a number on him. Since I have a very accommodating upstairs neighbor who loves to brush his long coat in exchange for taking him out regularly, I usually leave him at home. I made an exception when I needed to come to Atlanta to teach a 3 day seminar that was scheduled with very little lead time. Reluctantly I packed Francis into the car with his favorite toy, an old plastic colander, and drove down to Atlanta. After a very stressful night in the hotel room, pacing and panting and growling at imaginary intruders I decided to skip the first day of the seminar and treat Francis to some quality time. I found ParkGrounds on Yelp and drove straight there. I'm glad I did. A number of people have commented on the coffee and it really is as good as everyone says. I had both an Iced Americano and a traditional Cappucino. Both amazing. They also have vegan pastries and vegan pancakes. I don't see what is wrong with regular pancakes but I ordered some and they were delicious if somewhat mealy. My only complaint is that this place is both dog friendly and child friendly and honestly I think that is a mistake. It is hard enough to keep track of your own animal, breaking up constant dog fights and cleaning up after it (which many of the pet owners at ParkGrounds are negligent about) without having to monitor the behavior of groups of children that parents have left free in the dog enclosure. While I understand it probably seems like a nice idea to let your 7 year old make friends and chase around puppies for the afternoon, it seems like a disaster in the making. While I was there I witnessed tails and ears being pulled and one toddler was pushed down in the mud by a large Chow mix. Maybe they could fence off an area just for kids and "small" dogs. "Francis" was not raised around children and tends to nip at them, so I had to be extra vigilant. Thank god the coffee is strong LOL. That being said, this place is wonderful. There is free wifi, the coffee is super good and the crowd is nice. A day well spent. read more

I wanted to like this place so much. I love my pup, take him everywhere, so this place caught my attention. We visited last Sunday afternoon, it was warm and sunny, a perfect afternoon for a trip to the dog park and to get a cup of coffee. I took my sue bee latte (amazing! the drink deserves 5 stars) out into the park area to have a closer eye on the pup. My pup is socialized and I trust him around other people and dogs. Unfortunately, I don't trust other dog owners. The park area was dirty. The chairs were filthy and everything was covered with a film of dirt. Okay, it's outside, but have something to wipe the chairs off, so clothes aren't filthy. The chairs are really uncomfortable, most are those cheap, molded plastic Adirondack chairs. If I hadn't just driven from Emory and spent $7 on coffee and a bottle of water, I would have left. Yes, I could have taken my coffee to the patio and watched my dog from afar, but I'm glad I didn't as right away I could see there was an aggressive dog in the pack and his "oh-that's-just-how-he-plays" owners. I sat toward the back of the park area and watched this dog become increasingly aggressive with every dog. My pup avoided him and played with a couple of dogs toward the back, wrestling, chasing a tennis ball, etc. Then came the folks in a Fiat with a pack of dogs, who literally, let all of their dogs out into the park, watched them all go to the bathroom, didn't clean it up, and loaded them back into the Fiat. In the middle of this, the aggressive dog went wild on a little dog and someone snapped and said something to the owner of the aggressive dog. I love the idea of this place, but unfortunately, I feel like this set up just leads people to ignore their dogs and not take responsibility for them. My pup is on the smaller side, but very scrappy, and maybe I am "overprotective" of him. Yes, I want to go for a cup of coffee, and chitchat with friends, but if I'm going to bring my dog, then I know that I'm responsible for him AT ALL TIMES. Bottom line on why I give it 3 stars: the outside area needs to be cleaned and better maintained, and management needs to have some strict policies in place in regards to owner's responsibilities for their dogs as well as permitting aggressive dogs in the park. read more

I remember just 2 years ago when my husband and I were looking at houses, we saw this empty forlorn little corner shop in Reynoldstown and thought how sad it all looked, and kinda scary. Fast forward to last October, when some friends suggested we meet at a little coffeeshop in Reynoldstown to discuss our latest crafting venture. It took going there 3 or 4 times before the lightbulb went off and I realized it was the same forlorn little shop... but forlorn was the LAST word I would use to describe it now. The new owners have turned a neighborhood eyesore into an incredibly vibrant neighborhood hangout. This place is like a little home away from home, where my friends and I meet for semi-regular craft nights. The coffee and chai are spectacular, the owners and employees are amazingly friendly, the cupcakes are to die for, and they even have a breakfast cereal bar!!! Our group consists of some "normal" eaters, a few vegetarians, and even a couple strict vegans. Between us, we've tried most of the menu, and no one has ever had anything but raves about the food. There's also a whole area fenced in the back for a dog park, something sorely needed in this city. They do movies outside in good weather on a big screen, and host several music events. In short, they almost make me wish we'd moved to Reynoldstown, so they would be within walking distance! read more

My dog Nelly is a greyhound who spent the first two years of her life stacked in a kennel only allowed to leave to do her business and race every few days. The dogs of Park Grounds have really made Nelly feel more comfortable. She is the equivalent of Ferdinand the Bull who just liked to smell the flowers, and generally stands on the sidelines while the other dogs play. Over time, however, she has come out of her shell thanks to the welcoming nature of the people and hounds and Park Grounds. We walk there a couple of times a week to play and have my favorite drink (the Dorian Green). More businesses like this need to come around and make the Edgewood/Reynoldstown area a more positive place. read more

Im from Orlando and went up to Cloud canyon state park with my fiancé and my doggies. I stopped here for them on my way back and it was a good park ishhh. Lets be real im not from the area I don't know the area and I did feel safe but it looked a bit eh like (just the area tho) it was a little bit hard to find the dogpark because it was a bit small and parking is wherever you can find a spot so don't drive too far off looking for parking I just parked on the side of the road. As the other reviews also said the service is weird. don't ask me 4 times if im gunna order I just told you give me a second ive never been there I want to read your menu so the book you were reading before I walked up can just wait 30 seconds lol the dog park area could use some TLC, no grass just dirt so do not go if it has rained. it had enough seating and my dogs got their car jitters out before we headed home. Great great concept! need some more care. From gossip I overheard just the hour I was there the owner is over dogs(just hearsay), but all around I had a good time alright coffee and my dogs were happy. This place is tucked away far enough that nobody who wasn't looking for it would ever find it. thats good for the locals and people " in the know", but probably not so great for business. anyhow Me and the wife went there fro some ATLcraft-swap group meetup. It was pretty neat, and they serve up breakfast cereals, including the diabetics worst nightmare CINNAMON TOAST CRUNCH!!! i was going to go get a bowl, but i opted for the PBJ plus, which included raspberry JAM, bananas, and strawberries. Man it was great. and it probably made you vegan hipsters out there sigh in relief that i finally ate sandwich that no animals died to produce, which is rare for my carnivorous behavior. i didnt try the coffee, as i do not do "bean water". read more

Park Grounds is a genius idea, and being just steps away from our crib it could easily be an everyday destination for myself, my wife, and our dog. However, there are a couple things that keep us from making it our second home. The coffee is OK, especially in the French Press. We don't eat there much, but the times we have, the food has been fine. There always seems to be a bottle of Sriracha to kick things up a notch, and the orange slices ensure that we will never gets scurvy. Here's what I don't like. As a customer it's pretty irritating to whip out a check card and have the owner ask if you have cash instead, complaining about the 40 cent fee he's charged every time he swipes a card - and he does this EVERY TIME. Why take cards at all then? I estimate he's lost at least $20 in business just from us every month because we'd rather brew coffee at home than hear him whine about his first-world problems at the point-of-sale. Otherwise, the staff are reasonably friendly and attentive, aside from the one time where the owner mocked my wife's voice to her face at the counter when she was ordering. My bulldog loves the dog park side of things. I do too in theory, but I wish the other dog owners would be a little more vigilant as to picking up their dog's feces. There are piles of turds seemingly everywhere and dog owners conveniently look the other way when their dog pinches one off. Or else they're in the patio area ignoring their pup while trying to get on the internet that barely, if ever works. read more

Since I'm a student, I leave my puppy alone during the weekdays, and I feel awful! So when I found out about this cafe that has off-leash park facility, I knew I had to take my puppy here. So here I am, in ParkGrounds, writing this review as I'm borrowing their Wi-Fi. They offer a variety of food for humans and dogs. For dogs, there is the "pupcakes," doggie ice cream, and biscuits. My puppy had the "pupcakes" before and he loved it. For humans, there are coffe, tea, ice cream, cupcakes, cereal, and some breakfast-like things. I've had their Banana Pudding ice cream which was amazing! If you like bananas, you should give it a try. The cafe itself has very relaxing interior. Comfortable couches around the cafe, some tables, outdoor seating, and breakfast tables as well! Nice and relaxing music is playing in the background. Overall, this is a nice place to get your work done - which reminds me, I should go back to studying! read more

I like the place since it's convenient to my home. The owner/staff are laid back and the menu includes more than just the coffees and breakfast rolls. I had a grilled chicken sandwich for lunch once and it was delicious. Don't order food if you're in a rush to go because it takes more time than the usual. This is a great place to socialize your dog. It's quiet in the mornings with only 2-3 dogs in the park if you need to get your dog acclimated. The afternoons can get busy, so you'll find it easy to start a conversation with others. The place serves beer and liquor, so that may help. :-) It's best to wear clothes that you don't mind getting dirty since the dog area does not have much grass and can get dusty. The dogs' water trough turns into a mud hole, so you may have to deal with your dog getting muddy. I would give this place a higher score if I didn't have to deal some annoyances. There are owners that leave their dog in the fenced area and then go inside to talk or work on their laptop the entire time. Their dog tends to 'poop' with no cleanup or whines the entire time wanting their owner. No one wants to smell or hear these offenses. read more

The small triangular parking lot is so small, it will only squeeze in two average size cars, 3 if you have a Fiat, etc. I parked on the street, which still had limited space, but it made me realize that coming here early or being lucky to find an open spot closer to the establishment is gonna be your best bet! I was the only one here when I entered in the early morning, but very soon after, people started flowing in and a continuous small line formed. They have a wonderful, open seating area with two long seat back wooden booths lining one entire corner of the coffee shop, in addition to fabric and leather sofas in another corner. You pick up your coffee at the little bar, and your food is personally served to you (always, always a plus for me). I ordered the café au lait and the breakfast burrito. My coffee was decent, and I'd order it again in the future. The burrito is automatically vegetarian, but you can make it vegan by switching out the eggs for tofu. It wasn't explosion-in-your-mouth fantastic, but it was still good, clean, and fresh. As soon as I ordered my food, I heard the frying pan and spatula moving. Anything made-to-order is always a positive. You can leave your plates, etc. on your table and the staff will make a routine sweep to pick them up. They play awesome indie/chill music (i.e. the XX, Band of Horses), so I didn't have to put my headphones on. Even the vibe from the locals is different here--everyone is polite and aware of the noise level. Seriously, the loudest noises came from the espresso machine. The staff were super friendly, and I also love the fact that they serve plenty of fresh pastries and are very vegan and vegetarian friendly. Definitely a peaceful place to gather with friends, study, and let your dog be a dog and roam free in the fenced-in play pen! Due to the misty/cloudy weather outside, the soggy mulch probably prevented a lot of the canines from coming out. I only ever stop by PG with friends who have dogs, seeing as I don't have one, and I feel weird about hanging out at a dog run without a dog the way middle-aged men feel weird about hanging out at a playground without a kid. But really, it's a coffee shop/cafe, so I think I need to get over myself... Anyway, I digress. I met my friend at PG for breakfast this morning so his pup could run around before my pal took off for a work trip. I realized two things when I got there: I'd only ever had plain coffee at PG, and I didn't really realize that they had a full-blown breakfast/lunch menu. So, of course, I had to have something non-plain to drink and test out the nosh. I immediately ordered a soy capp when I saw "Cappuccino - 6oz" clearly labeled on the menu board. Nothing wins me over faster than a coffee shop that refuses to make a 20oz capp. I had scoped out somebody eating what looked like a sausage-egg-n-cheese bagel, but I couldn't quite pinpoint that combo on the menu, and I don't eat veggie-sausage, so I ordered the R-town on a bagel: egg-cheese-n-tomatoes. I saw that they had tofu options on some of the other breakfast things, but I didn't feel like a length "add this, minus this" order. I was just really freakin hungry and wanted to get the order in ASAP. The cappuccino was great - good crema on the foam, nice and hot, just the way I like it. The bagel was good too - I recommend the everything bagel to bring a little excitement. It's hard to make a mind-blowing breakfast bagel, so I'll just leave it at yup, good. Hit the spot. The patio is good for watching the dogs run around, and I'm glad to see they built up the fence and railings a bit to keep the rascals from invading your humans-only space. There were, however, an awful lot of flys, even though the doggie garbage bins were no where near the patio. Maybe it's just the heat... My other (small) beef with PG visitors (not the establishment itself) is that it seems like some folks aren't very attentive of their dogs. Time and again, I've seen dogs do their business and no one comes to pick it up. I've watched people put their dogs in the run and then sit inside the coffee shop for an hour. It's kind of disheartening, and my canine-owning friends have voiced that they sometimes feel like babysitters for the pups with flakey owners. From what friends have told me, the new owners of PG have made huge strides to remind doggie parents to be responsible, and my friends have definitely seen improvement. I hadn't been over there in a while and yard looked like it was in a lot better shape than this time a year ago. Good work, new-PG-owners! Overall, it's great to have a super-dog-friendly place in an often anti-dog town. Definitely recommend the espresso drinks, need to try out more of the menu, and woud love to see a little better etiquette on the part of the dog owners. read more

Really enjoyed my first visit at park grounds with my six month old puppy, Lucy. I love the design of the cafe with an outside area that you can sit with the dogs or without dogs. The Nutella latte I bought was wonderful! They have local beers, coffee, cocktails, and even food. read more

Wife and I were visiting town recently and had heard good things about this place. While we did not have our dog with us we did enjoy watching the dogs run around and have a good time. The coffee was great as was the food. If/when we move back to Atlanta this will be our go to breakfast spot for sure. great service and the owner was super helpful and had some great stories. read more

This lil joint is a very lowbrow, chill ,neighborhoody spot. The yard is full of frolicking pooches. The interior is cozy and rarely crowded. The service is friendly without being forced.The selection is decent. They have great coffee, fantastic breakfast sammies, kick ass hashbrowns, salads, cupcakes, dog biscuits, etc. I'd classify it somewhere between crunchy and grungy. My kinda place for sure. I personally love the ham scram sandwich with hashbrowns and a glass bottled coke. Good, filling, reasonable priced comestible,in an atmosphere that doesn't grate on my nerves. I'm a fan. read more

Having this place within walking distance is one of my favorite things about my neighborhood. We're here at least a couple of times a week. ParkGrounds is the happiest place on Earth. The well-attended dog park is the highlight here - there are almost always plenty of dogs for mine to run around with - but the coffee and snacks are great too. This tucked-away coffeehouse is all about the neighborhood solidarity and has become willing host to organizations and events of all types. My only complaint is the mulch in the dog park, which is patchy at times. My dog, of course, makes a beeline for the nearest dust pit so she can roll around and get completely filthy. We're keeping Kirkwood Feed & Seed's dog wash in business. I'm sure grass would be near-impossible to grow, but it would be a great improvement! read more

The success of a dog park really hinges on the intelligence and attentiveness of its patrons, and Park Grounds gets five stars on both fronts. I honestly have nothing bad to say about this place--the park is well maintained, the people are awesome, and the food is excellent. The food is probably the most surprising aspect of this place--it is REALLY good. Try one of the bagel sandwiches. PG is one of my favorite weekend chill spots in Atlanta. read more

I took my little Chihuahua here twice last weekend, for the first time. The first day, there were mostly big dogs in the run, so he couldn't hang out there, but on Sunday, he found a tiny MinPin to hang with, and had a great time. Mom ate delicious cupcakes, Oliver played his heart out with someone his own size. Everyone was happy! I've tried to take him to Big City Dog Park, but even though they have a small dog area, I much prefer ParkGrounds. Love taking the dog and my boy here after school for a late lunch/snack. There's smoking on the back patio but it didn't really bother me much. It's a bit muddy in the yard and the yard is pretty well used so make sure you're not in a car you don't want getting dirty. The patio in general is kind of grimy but it is a dog park/ cafe so I didn't expect it to be pristine. Tasty reasonably priced food- good craft beer selection- Mexican coke and great wifi that works in the yard. read more

PG is my go-to coffee shop to do freelance work several times a week, and my pup loves me all the more for it. The Counter Culture coffee is great and the place as a whole has a great feeling of community. These aspects would make it my favorite coffee spot already, but that's not even taking into account the people who work here. And they are awesome. Every person who works here has a great attitude and is very friendly, without having that whole over-the-top pep squad thing going on. They're also dog lovers themselves, and I often see them pop outside to play with the pups on their breaks. Aside from working from here during the week, I love to bring the pup here on the weekends. There are a lot more dogs and owners hanging out outside on the weekend, and it's impossible not to smile after a few minutes of watching a herd of dogs that range from dachshunds to great danes. read more

I am obsessed with ParkGrounds. No, seriously. My husband and I adopted a German Shepherd mix a little over a month ago. Since then, we've brought her to ParkGrounds almost every day. She knows when we're getting close and whines in excitement. Girlfriend loves her some dog park. I love the size of ParkGrounds. Big enough for lots of dogs to run around but not so big that you lose your dog. It's nice that it's dirt, too. One teeny tiny suggestion - maybe getting a shovel to scoop dog poop instead of the rake. Trying to rake dog poop up is totally gross - but doable! For the most part, the dog owners are responsible (there are boogers occasionally, but for the most part, the dog owners are great). We haven't been able to break our dog of her urge to jump on everyone, but 99% of the people there have not only been cool with it (they agree that it's a dog park, and that is expected to happen) but have offered us some really great advice on how to control the jumping. The staff is THE JAM. Seriously. Nicest bunch of folks anywhere. They're always friendly - always. The coffee? Yum. I'm addicted. The food? SO tasty. (I recommend the BLT. Have mercy, it is delicious.) We are on a tight budget and lots of times, I just get a small coffee. There's never any judgement - just a friendly smile and a delicious cup of coffee. In conclusion... ParkGrounds is where it's at. We will continue to be there every day we can. Thanks to the owner and the staff for making it a great place to be! read more
