When my Mom passed, my sister and I made an appointment to select a headstone. I was impressed when I had called to make an appointment as I spoke to Chris Lee and he was friendly and informative. We met with him on 3/25/18. He was very helpful in giving us information on the type of headstone that was required for the area where my mother's grave site was, the catalogs as well as the sample headstones that was in his office to choose from. With his help, we chose a headstone we were really pleased with that was regal and epitomized my mother's classiness. In the year of the pandemic, my granny passed in June, 2020. Since we had a good experience prior, we decided to come back to this business to get a headstone for her grave site. We met with Steven Bloom on 8/1/20. He was friendly, took time to show us our options and we selected a different headstone that reminded us of her personal style. We paid for the headstone in full (you have the option to make a partial payment) and waited to hear updates on our order. More than two and a half months passed by and I hadn't heard anything regarding our fully paid order so I reached out to Mr. Bloom for an update. I talked to him via phone in October and he remembered me and the order and told me he would call me back that day to provide update details. I didn't get a call back so I called the next day and left him a voicemail as he was out of the office. I still did not hear from him after a few days. It was then that I called again and asked to speak to a manager. I was transferred to a vice president and explained the situation. He looked into it and was honest about what happened which I appreciated. Our order unintentionally got lost in the shuffle. With the pandemic and tons of orders, an error occurred. Sir V.P. apologized for the non-communication of who we dealt with concerning this order and the error. He got right on getting our order processed immediately. He communicated with me by email and by phone as to the developments. I appreciated his willingness to be empathetic to my family on how important getting this headstone done and done right. He was professional at the same time. By the time the headstone was finished, unfortunately it was too late in the year for it to be placed so Sir V.P. said that he would follow up with me in March to see if Glen Oaks Cemetery had placed the headstone. He kept his word and called me on March 1 - the headstone hadn't been placed yet but he would check again and get back to me. My granny's b-day was March 6 so I decided to go out to the cemetery to visit her. I was happy to see that it had looked like they had just placed the headstone either that day or the day before. I personally reached out and thanked Sir V.P. for all of his help and assistance in getting this headstone completed because it was really important to our family. I highly recommend this business. Their monument selection is HUGE! Thank you Peter Troost, appreciate your establishment.

There are levels of ineptitude and greed on the part of their successor. This made my most recent experience very disappointing in comparison to how the original couple ran this business. We could barely get anyone to take our calls and seemingly had to do a cat and mouse chase with Rorry the director. Then we were overcharged in fees and surcharges that were not outlined until AFTER my mother's remains were transported to their facility. They were not clear as to when the flowers would be displayed. Lastly, we were delayed at the burial site because no one on staff took the time to tell the cemetery that we were on our way. At one point during the burial, I noticed the driver looking at his watch as if he had somewhere else to be. Who does that? Again, any delay was their fault. I wouldn't take a dead goldfish to Wallace's in the future, let alone a loved one. This business is riding on the reputation of its founders who are now deceased, but they apparently took professionalism and compassion with them. In its place is a director who is still wet behind the ears and his wife whose side hustle is printing the programs and providing the flowers. It's no longer about compassion and care but getting the most money for each related service. This is a disservice to the people who still go to them thinking that the personal touches of the late Vernon and Gladys are still evident in their present-day operations. If my disappointment is not a wake-up call to the owner, then hopefully it encourages would be patrons to reconsider.

Great levels of hospitality and it is a warm, inviting environment. What I do recommend that I think is the major issue here is that if you know that the person has a large family please carpool over here because parking is limited and I had to see people park half a mile away or across the street to make their way into the funeral home.

Losing someone you love is never easy, but the way they guided us through every step brought comfort when we needed it most. From the very first conversation, Bogdan Gal treated us not just as clients, but as family. His kindness, patience, and genuine empathy meant more than words can express. He handled every detail of the arrangements for Joanna Bednarz's funeral with the utmost dignity and respect. The service was truly beautiful -- thoughtful, elegant, and perfectly reflective of Joanna's life and spirit. Bogdan's steady guidance helped us feel supported and reassured through every decision. We are also deeply thankful to Renia, whose warmth and understanding comforted us from the moment we walked through the doors. She was incredibly organized, responsive, and gentle in every interaction, making a painful process feel a little less overwhelming. A heartfelt thank you as well to Donna and the entire staff. Every single person we encountered showed compassion, professionalism, and sincere care. Their attention to detail and quiet support during the service did not go unnoticed. They created an atmosphere of peace and respect that allowed our family to grieve, remember, and honor Joanna in the most meaningful way. In a time filled with sorrow, Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium provided light, comfort, and dignity. We will never forget the beautiful service they created for Joanna or the compassion they showed our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for helping us say goodbye with love and grace. May God Bless you all, Bednarz Family
