Second time going here for morning coffee on the way to dawn patrol and definitely the last time. Watched the woman who was at the window be extremely rude to every customer in line ahead of us and then it was our turn. She did the same as the first time got every part of the order wrong and was hostile when we explained what we got was not what we ordered. Terrible customer service, who needs it there are plenty of coffee places close bye with polite non hostile staff. The coffee and pastry were not that good anyway after putting up with the rude hostile staff member. read more

We eat here often but ordered takeout this time. When I picked up the food, the front staff looked at the signed check, saw no tip, and said "No tip?" out loud. Then a cook in the open kitchen also said "No tip?" to me.I kept walking. Confronting a customer over a tip for a takeout order is completely unprofessional. Won't be back. read more

Great brunch spot next to Stinson beach! We parked in the Stinson beach parking and walked over. The service was a bit slow but they were very kind. The food is definitely an elevated step above your typical brunch. This beautiful coastal cafe had yummy caffeine options and we left very happy and full. Wonderful meal outside on their patio on an early Sunday morning before heading to Stinson Beach. Patio is dog friendly! For food we had: * Hash ($20) - pesto chicken was yummy! The cast iron they serve it in was just small, so portion wise my husband felt hungry still. * Granola with oatmeal ($12) - berries and honey were a nice touch. Really tasty! My son loved it. * Parkside ($17) plus bacon ($5) - classic eggs with toast and nice roasted veggies (potatoe, onion, carrots). I feel like the bacon made it feel like a complete dish. For drinks we did freshly squeezedJ, latte, and coffee. Note: we had a one year old and they only have 1 high chair for the restaurant, so it made the meal a little harder to enjoy since we had to hold our child. Felt a little bit slow with service, but all staff were nice. They have a little grab and go bakery attached with really delicious looking pastries and coffee as well as a snack bar (assuming more fast food for beach goers). Overall really cute place/vibe! It is a bit pricey for what you get/portions but highly recommend stopping here for breakfast or a coffee+pastry! read more

My wife and I ate here on a lazy day driving along the coast. We both started with the clam chowder which was excellent. My wife had the calamari as her entree and thought it too was excellent. I ordered the fish and chips and the fish was very good but the batter, while golden brown, was a tad undercooked below the surface. It was not enough that I was tempted to send it back and overall I give it high marks. We ate outside in the courtyard and it was an amazing setting. Sort of an interesting experience with some great things and some room for improvement. The food was knockout. No questions there, the vibe is nice, it's clean, it feels homey. I thought the pricing was reasonable for what came out of the kitchen. My main issue lies in the restrictive "you're overstaying your welcome" vibe. They have their WiFi password listed on the menu, so I popped open my computer and did some work. I ordered, ate my meal while I worked, and then wrapped up the food. Before I was finished, the check hit the table. Within about 5 minutes of my plate being cleared, I had the wait staff approach me 2 more times, and she was super polite, but made it clear that the "owners" are looking to make this a restaurant, not a café, and that they would be watching on the cameras to make sure I didn't stay too long. It's a Monday afternoon at 3pm. Maybe 3 of the 10 tables had anyone sat. My presence and patronage here should not be a concern for anyone. Mind you, I was there no longer than 45 minutes. Not even an hour in the joint and I was given a deadline to hit the road. It just felt unnecessary. I understand this wouldn't be normal behavior at a fine dining restaurant or something, but this is a beach cafe, not a Del friscos. Come on. I am very disappointed with the service during our visit. While the hostess who seated us outside was kind, we felt profiled by one of the staff members inside. When we asked where the restroom was, a staff member in a chef uniform repeatedly questioned whether we had a table--even after I confirmed we did. He then spoke to another employee in a different language and directed us to a nonexistent restroom outside. We later found out (thanks to the hostess) that the restroom was actually inside all along. When I confronted him, he gave a vague excuse that someone told him we didn't have a table, even though I clearly stated we did. It felt dismissive and dishonest. The food, ambiance, and cleanliness were solid normally I'd rate this place 4 stars. We spent $400 and enjoyed rounds of mimosa, clam chowder, fries, fish tacos , seafood (muscles & clams) and calamari. But due to the uncomfortable experience and how we were treated, I can't recommend this place without warning others that they may be profiled. read more

I genuinely cannot remember a more unwelcoming, petty, and absurd customer experience in my life. I spent $60 on pizza and left a $12 tip for take-out, only to be told I was not allowed to use the restroom. Let that sink in. A paying customer, standing there with hot food in hand, treated as if I were asking for access to a VIP lounge instead of a basic human necessity. This place has sit-down tables but operates under one of the most nonsensical rule systems I have ever encountered. If you sit down, you are not allowed to order pizza. If you order pizza to go, you are not allowed to use the bathroom. That is not an exaggeration. That is their actual policy. The waiter awkwardly explained that it was "his boss's rule" and that he "couldn't bend it." The justification was that they have one small bathroom that is "reserved for dine-in customers." Meanwhile, the restaurant had maybe two tables occupied out of roughly fifteen. So instead of exercising even the slightest bit of judgment or basic human decency, they chose rigid, nonsensical rules. This policy should clearly be situational. If the place were packed, I would have understood. It was not. The nearby older woman manager was shockingly rude, would not make eye contact, and did not offer even the most basic apology. She spoke with cold indifference and made it very clear that customer experience is not a priority here. She simply doubled down, stating that her manager made the rules and there was "nothing they could do." No empathy. No accountability. No professionalism. I simply wanted to wash my hands before eating the $60 pizza I had just purchased. Their solution was to suggest either a disgusting portable toilet or a public beach bathroom nearby. Neither had soap. So yes, I was forced to eat expensive food with dirty hands because this restaurant decided that basic hygiene and basic respect for paying customers were optional. This was not just bad service. It was egregious. This rule ridiculous, the management is unapologetic and rude, and the overall attitude is "we already got your money, now get lost." I would never recommend this place to anyone and strongly suggest you spend your money literally anywhere else. If this is how they treat paying customers, it genuinely makes me wonder what goes on behind the scenes. Decided to stop by the Parkside Cafe, a nice. sit down indoor restaurant with a full menu to eat at 1:45pm. I had driven by many times but never visited. Very cute place with decent menu. I ordered a $24 item from the menu which came quickly. As did the bill. I had been seated for less than 20 minutes, when to my surprise, the waitress pushed her handheld register towards me asking me to pay. Um, ok (?) So I paid and included tip. I asked her if I could stay a little longer since I had only been seated for 20 minutes. She said no. Once you pay you need to leave right away because her manager wants to turn tables as there are people waiting. This I could understand if I had been there an unreasonable amount of time; but it hadn't even been half an hour for a sit-down lunch! I make a point of not writing negative reviews without talking to the manager first in case there was a special circumstance or a misunderstanding and we can resolve it. I then returned to the cafe with my $33.72 receipt presented it to the host who was filling in for Hitlers wife and said I paid and I would now like to wash my hands as I am now a paying patron, He replied now after just 10 minutes that the restroom was now out of order, laughing and smirking as I exited. What a joke of a place. Over-priced rude associates and poor customer service for a company that relies on tourists, I have been to Stinson 10 times a year and will never give this establishment 1 penny of my money, nor with any of the guest I bring to visit. Smoothie tasted fresh and well-made with good ingredients. $10 for a pint glass wasn't too bad as I've definitely paid for smoothies elsewhere that tasted like 3 blueberries for color and some almond milk. My smoothie tasted like it was made with full ingredients. Caesar salad was unique with that it wasn't just romaine lettuce and had just the right amount of dressing. Probably my second favorite Caesar salad behind Pizza Antica. Fish and chips were honestly some of the best I've had! Battered with IPA beer the fillers were thick and tasted like real fish instead of a tiny chunk with a lot of breading. The crispy outside was perfect! Fries: amazing! Bread pudding was truly incredible and big enough to share between 2 people. It had some custard, chocolate, raspberries and wasn't too overly sweet. I would 100% order it again. Service: The older male waiter we had were very attentive, smiley and knowledgable, seemed to love his job. The young host gentleman seemed like he was forced to be there... Price: definitely high but it's in a touristy area, everything around here is pricey. Taste was worth it for the convenience and setting in my opinion. Best clam chowder ever! Very surprising - chockfull of clams! With a big crouton on top - so tasty! Pizza was huge - I ordered two of them thinking this would be one of those personal pizzas for one but ended up lasting us 3 days! And got better each day! This used to be my favorite café on the coast. I would always stop by whenever I was traveling along the coast, bring my friends, and recommend it to everyone. But at some point, everything changed. The food became inconsistent -- sometimes too salty, sometimes dry, and often with other issues. Some of the staff are also quite rude. One time we tried to buy some pastries and a couple of slices of pizza, and the employee said something along the lines of everything being cold and that he didn't want to sell it. We then asked for non-alcoholic drinks and were told there were none. It honestly felt like he just didn't want to sell us anything. We ended up going inside and, without any problem, bought a whole pizza. What really surprised me today, though, is that they changed the tip options on the payment terminal from the usual 15-18-20% to 20-25%. A customer who isn't paying attention could end up tipping almost a third of the cost of a takeout pizza, even without any table service. read more

Coming to Stinson beach at least once per month, last was at this "restaurant" few months ago. But today's experiences was one to remember The server was okey, nothing to say. The restroom was dirty and smelly. Prices are insane! $20 for a cup of Pinot noir wine, not a glass a cup, for that price they didn't bother to pour it into wine glass? A cup of Black coffee $5? Had mussels and clams, which were okey, nothing extraordinary. And flat bread with humus, usually I like it, not at this place . One thing was really good is bread pudding. The check came out to $94+ Then had options of 18%-20%-25% tips We waited for waiter to come back for the credit card for 7 min+ and we end up going to pay inside. Once we scan the card, it gave options for 20%-25%-30% So they are talking chances to have people choose more if you don't pay attention. Coming back home, we both were feeling sick and nauseated. End up taking medicine... Not coming back. Sad, that they abuse the fact that they have nice location and people know about them, and having such a bad service, food and prices Most of the customers coming from SF or Marin, and tend to come back. I had a group of five, and after ordering just one burger and one fry, he abruptly asked "anything else" in a dismissive tone, multiple times, while I was still trying to order for everyone. After a morning of playing along the beach, this was a fine place for a meal with my family. There's a choice between indoors and patio, and we chose the patio. Service was friendly, and the server was able to answer our questions about ingredients and allergies, which is important to us. They had several options for vegetarians, and a few for vegans, and those avoiding gluten. Between the 4 of us we had the seafood sampler (quite good, but portioned with 3 of each item), a few Niman burgers, the seafood stew, and a pesto chicken sandwich. Everything was very good, and the fries were just the way I like them (substantial, crispy, not too salty, not too greasy). The iced tea was different, maybe it was jasmine tea? It was nice, if more flowery than what I had expected. The prices were about what you'd expect for a coastal mid-range place. When we pass through again, we'll be back. read more

Parkside Cafe is a cozy indoor cafe in Stinson that has a fairly extensive outdoor cafe area with picnic table seating. It has other offerings as well: a bakery and expresso window for takeaway, a fast food stand for beach goers, and a tiny spendy boutique with gourmet foods and fresh baked Parkside breads. Parkside offers a sit down casual breakfast with homemade granola and steel oats, a simple vegetable omelette, and root vegetable hash in a small iron pan with eggs made to order. Some of my favorite PM orders include clam chowder, fresh baked bread, a big order of fried calamari with a charred lemon, and a microbrew or a glass of wine. Their vanilla soft serve with fresh berries is another simple but good order. After a meal here, we generally grab a couple of their pastries to-go, or a chai for the road, along with some bread or canned fish from their gourmet boutique. The only pain points are that service can be overwhelmed and inattentive at times, and they are oddly overprotective of their single bathroom. A fun stop in Stinson. read more

After enjoying a day at the beach and ordering food from the Parkside snack bar, we immediately knew we wanted to come back to the Parkside Café for dinner. Service was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so attentive. We had our two little boys with us and they had convenient kids cups and high chairs. The staff was so friendly to the boys, even catering to the fact that we ordered a kids meal that they could split and got a side of fruit along with it. They have a little market store so we enjoyed taking a look at that while we waited for food. My husband and I ordered the fish and chips, the au gratin oysters, and the bowl of clams and mussels. The food was out of this world, especially the homemade bread that they kept bringing to the table. We thoroughly enjoyed this experience. I have no idea why this place does not have five stars. Again, the staff is extremely friendly and knows what they are doing. The place is clean, the bathroom was clean, the food was top-tier excellent. Especially being so close to the beach where you could enjoy a five star meal. read more
