One of the worst lunches I've ever had. We were seated well over an hour before they closed the lunch buffet, but clearly we should not have been seated at all. Most of the lunch buffet was not stocked and many big vats of dishes, all of them classics like masala, white rice and butter chicken, were left out of stock and never refilled even when asked. The service was also poor, dare I say almost nonexistent. They were more consumed with cleaning up and getting people out than serving the guests currently seated. We witnessed guests having to get up to make requests for drinks. We also observed the manager review all the empty vats, stir the nonexistent food, then retreat back into the kitchen never to be seen again. They even sat people as we were leaving- and I almost wanted to warn them to turn away unless they wanted to eat naan bread and some dry wings with a few sauces- basically all they had out for us to eat. The prices were also absurd - we paid almost $50 for a terrible lunch for two. Heed my warning: do not visit Persis Indian Grill if you're interested in a delicious Indian buffet. Because this is not that. Viceroy in Durham is a much better option, and honestly would have been the same price with way more food available and way better service. I will never return and I urge anyone else considering this restaurant to consider otherwise. read more

I did it again. Overeat at the buffet that is. Never learn. Weekend lunch buffet, but a la carte menu available also. I usually avoid Indian buffets because of a nut allergy, but servers were able to confirm that chef doesn't use nuts in the buffet and that only one of the desserts had cashews. I enjoyed the three buffet platters I greedily dished up for myself, although wish there was more spice and/or heat to some of the food, but mild level is expected to cater to general population pallets at a buffet. This is generally one of the downsides to a buffet though. Some Indian buffets can be as predictable as guessing that Chef Gordon Ramsey is ordering the crew at an episode of Hell's Kitchen to make beef Wellington. But here we have a Good mix of classics and non-classic dishes. Some examples at the buffet; Chicken Tikka Masala, Goat Biryani, Goat Curry, Chicken fry, Fish Tawa, Uttapam, Idli, Sambar, naan, Curd rice, Veg Biryani, BBQ corn, Black eye pea masala, Mushroom masala, Paneer masala, veg sabzi, dry potato dish, papdi chat, mango moose, double ke meta (?). Lemon juice drink and masala chai included. Don't think I have seen chai as part of buffet before, so this was a nice added touch. There is a sign dividing non-veg and veg dishes, but chicken fry was on the veg side. This is a completely unrelated anecdote, but I remember a while back in NJ there was a group of vegetarian patrons that accidently ate meat at an Indian buffet and sued the owner to pay for round trip tickets to the holy Ganges river for spiritual cleansing. Oh lawd! Anyway back to Persis restaurant; The interior is pleasant and looks new, I didn't expect much more than a simple Indian diner vibe. You get your own water jug at the table. The bowls for Sambar are super small, more like a condiment bowl for pickle that fits about three spoonfuls of Sambar. Nothing tasted bad, Nothing too oily or salty. But on the other hand I can't point out any dish that stood out to me. The Uttapam was pretty good for being buffet. I don't think I saw raita on the menu, which I always like to have with my meal. Masala chai was quite good, not being that thick kind. Outdoor seating available. 91 sanitation score, which is on the concerning side and the sign was strategically placed in the bar corner facing away from the dining room. read more

Amazing food! The butter chicken is absolutely delicious. This is now my go to spot for Indian food

Went for lunch; had no idea they do a weekend buffet, we had just come in to order off the menu, but it was impressive looking, so that's what we did. They had a guy making fresh dosa!! How awesome is that? They were so good. On the large buffet we weally enjoyed a spicy shrimp dish they had, the potato and pea dish had just the right spice level. Lots of different dishes. I couldn't quite handle the bones in the goat curry, but the sauce was tasty. There was a tomato and yellow lentil dish that was great. Naan, all the usual favorites, and some actually impressive desserts. A little expensive? Sure. Can't do it every weekend, but it was so worth it! read more

Strange experience on a Sunday buffet. Whenever I say the food is good, the owner are the staff thank me and ask keep referring and it means a lot for us. Yesterday when I mentioned that the food is not at all good and not worth the Sunday buffet. None of the owners/staff behaved as if they knew the food is not good. They didn't even try to say that, will provide some discount during next visit not even for courtesy. And one of them said, let me check with Manager and get back to you and just vanished and never returned. Such a painful lunch where we ended up eating curd rice and poori bhaaji instead of a Sunday non- veg lunch ! Hope it does not matter for them due to the prime location. Decided to stick to our roots today and tried out Persis in Cary. It definitely satisfied my craving for Indian food, and overall I was impressed. The service was quick and the staff was very willing to accommodate your needs. The menu was concise with staples and for the price it was well worth it (we had enough to have lunch the next day). I asked for our dish to be spicy, and they weren't kidding around (be careful what you wish for)! The patio seating and even the indoor seating is high end. Pretty authentic Indian food. Paneer manchurian appetizer reminded me of the delicious Indian street food. It was well spiced and cooked very well. The lamb curry was very well flavored, the lamb was so tender!! The south Indian flavors were spot on with blend of coconut and beautiful aroma of curry leaves. We ordered mild and it was spot on flavorful for us and like in a lot other restaurants, the flavors and blend of spices werent mellowed down by adding more liquid or more rice in case of biryanis to make it mild!! It was a good experience and I will be back again to try out their South Indian fare like idli, dosa and biryanis. :) read more

Hi I ordered Chicken noodles and Chicken fried rice takeout. So disappointed with my order . Asked for spicy noodles which were with no salt n spice. The noodles were longer vermicelli type not suitable for making Chinese style noodles. Fried rice was so spicy n tasted more like indian rice. I can be found here almost every Saturday Point to note is most of their food is inclined towards South Indian recipes. Love the tea at the end of the sumptuous meal and count it my lucky day when there's watermelon juice. I've also used their catering service but that needs a lot of improvement. I went on a date there for Valentine's Day and literally two minutes after I paid the bill, am employee approached us and asked us to leave because they had a lot of people waiting and needed the table.
