I've walked by this place for a few years and never went in but so glad I finally made it. The restaurant gets busy and I definitely see why. Good food that is not outrageously priced. The staff are all very nice even though they're busy running around. The owner checked in on my friend and I and we finally decided on the entrees to order and she threw in the hummus on the house for us to try. We loved the hummus and it's a perfect starter that isn't too heavy. We ordered the Lamb Koubideh ($18) and Beef Soltani ($21). Both were delicious but I enjoyed the lamb a bit more. It was softer and juicier than the beef in my opinion but both were still great. This is definitely a good spot to come for dinner or even get take out. I remember during Covid they had signs for takeout and I definitely recommend. Their entrees come with soup/salad, the protein, and rice. Perfect for a night in or out to dinner without breaking your bank.

Definitely not a busy restaurant, but I thoroughly enjoyed both the appetizers sampler & my chicken dish.

Food: I'd say the food are taste better with the experience, my fav is the appetizer sampler. A great start to enjoy a chill night. Service: we came to the area and check all the restaurants, this one is like a hidden gem, both the server and the owner came outside to invite us very friendly, I'm so grateful that we accept the invitation and enjoyed a unforgettable night with great food, drinks and ofc the rose. The owner Max was talking to us and introduce all the food in detail, Ambiance: again, it's a hidden gem, come visit sometime when you are not in a hurry, sink in the restaurant and smell the romantic vibe at each small corner. Price: $65/2 ppl with discount

The first Persian restaurant I've ever been to. I don't know much about their food, but after trying this I'd go back. It was near my sister's new apt and we were looking for somewhere new to take my parents. We got the appetizer sampler to start. Very good choice, had a wide range of items and you got to try several different foods. For my main dish, I got the lamb kofteh. I liked it, had a good amount of meat, and came with rice and veggies on the side. They also had several varieties of sangria to choose from, we went with one of the white ones, sweet and good. It's located on Diversey, in the heart of Lakeview/Lincoln Park, so there's a lot to do in the area. If you're interested in trying Persian food I'd recommend checking this out. It was all good and nothing too extreme or anything.

Forgot to take a picture before I started digging in

Just a great restaurant! Very homey and the food was so delicious and comforting! I have no idea why this cute, family owned Persian restaurant isn't popular. It would also be a great take out or lunch place too. The main comes with a lentil soup or salad - which was so yum! Service was amazing too. Highly recommend if you're missing some home cooked food!

Purchased a groupon for this establishment quite a while ago when planning my trip. Restaurant location is tricky (big signage out front but located in a basement). Pre-fix dinner included an appetizer sampler, pita bread, soup or salad, entree (up to 18.00), bottle of wine or pitcher of sangria, & dessert. Pita bread was warm and fresh, sampler platter was good and not overwhelming in size. Salad was an arugula mix with a very tasty house vinaigrette dressing. Ordered the chicken tenderloin (breast) kabob plate with rice and a small serving of salad. Dessert was pound cake with ice cream for 2. Chicken was very tender and pound cake was a tad dry. Overall food was good and portions were just right so you didn't leave stuffed and ready to roll out of there. Server and owner were very friendly, personable, and genuinely nice guys. Definitely support this local gem if you are a local or even visiting from out of town like I am!

The first time I came here was more than 15 years ago. I've told myself I'm going to come back over and over again every time I ate middle eastern food, and never did... until tonight. The lamb fesenjeh tasted exactly the same as it did back then. The hummus was so rich and flavorful, and the owner... still the same sweet old man I met 1.5 decades ago. Sometimes, I really don't like going back to places like this because I have a very personal connection to them. And it makes me very sad that father time is catching up to all of us, and memories popping up of past times that I'll never live thru again, with people that I will never see again. I will be back for sure and this time it won't be another 15 years. Also the lamb and chicken are halal for all my Muslim peeps.

I arrived 25 minutes later and they hadn't even made my order. From there, 3 different people told me it'll be another 5 minutes, 10 minutes, and 15 minutes. I ended up waiting 20 minutes and during that whole time there was no apology. One of the workers handed me a tea and later I saw they included dessert in the bag. It was a nice gesture but I was frustrated that it wasn't acknowledged by the staff at all and part of my order was still missing. I paid $2.25 for a Yogurt & Cucumber Sauce which I never received. The Caspian Mix Grill with Albaloo Polo was very good. The filet mignon & chicken breast were both juicy and well-seasoned. The Albaloo Polo is plain basmati rice mixed with saffron, caramelized onion and sauteed sweet & sour cherries. I liked the rice but it felt like they just threw the cherries on top rather than incorporate it into the rice. It was very filling, enough to share with 2 people, and good value. The Bamieh & Balava were also fresh, sweet, and a nice bite to end on. Ultimately, I would give the food a 4/5 and the service a 2/5, hence my 3/5 rating.

Also, for your reference, 5/10 is average to me. Service: Upon arriving, they took our coats which I liked! The hostesses were both very amiable, making small talk before seating us. In between courses, they cleaned the table and provided us with new utensils. Also, the server would explain the dish which is always a nice refresher of what unique combinations of ingredients were used to prepare your dish. Overall: 9/10. Ambiance: I liked the decorations & especially liked the dishes the food was presented on. There is only one dining room, so it felt a bit more intimate since you can usually spot your server in the room attending other guests, waiting to serve others, or assumedly in the kitchen. The one bad thing I will say is that the bathroom door lock is tricky- it's a small button that didn't make a sound when it clicked so the whole time I was using the restroom I was paranoid that someone was going to walk in on me. Overall: 5/10. Food: Kashk-e Bademjan (roasted eggplant dip): Out of the two appetizers offered this was the more flavorful choice. The eggplant was roasted to a smoky flavor, which I loved, and was also contrasted by the cool yogurt dressing. The texture was somewhat chunky. 7/10 Zeytoon Parvardeh (olive tapenade): The olive tapenade was great; flavorful and salty. The aesthetics of the dish were also pretty, but I think this stands in the shadow of the Kashk-e Bademjan. 6/10 Salad-E Shirazi (cucumber salad): I loved the presentation of this dish. They drizzle on the dressing in front of you, which I think really highlights how fresh this dish tasted. The aesthetics alongside with the taste was very bright and refreshing. 8/10 Ash-E Anar (split pea soup): This one really floored us. The umami of the dish was amazing; very earthy and savory and cut by the sweetness of the pomegranate. If I could have a whole pot of this, I would. 10/10 Ozonboron (sturgeon): I loved the aesthetics of this dish with the browned butter saffron cream being contrasted by splashes of green. The flavor of the cream was so delicious and subtly fragrant. The potato croissant was delicious but I barely tasted the impact of the caviar on the croissant, so a little bit more caviar could've sufficed. I will say that I thought the fish was missing a little bit of salt to enhance the flavors (which was supported by my partner too). 7/10. Shishlik (lamb chops): This tasted AMAZING! Grilled to a subtle char on the outside and incredibly juicy and tender on the inside. The pistachio herb sauce reminded me a bit of chimichurri enhancing the smoky flavor of the meat. The rice was nicely flavored too but the star of the show was definitely the lamb chops. 10/10. Tiramisu Zafaran Va Pesteh: I love tiramisu, but this one unfortunately missed the mark. Felt intensely sweet due to the syrup the ladyfingers were soaked in. I would've loved to see the sweetness cut with something bitter or rich, but it was overwhelmingly sweet for my taste. I liked the presentation and the flavor was unique. 4/10. Overall: 8.7/10. I really liked the aesthetics of the dishes and the flavors presented. Service was phenomenal. I would definitely come back here.

From the moment we arrived, the service stood out. We had an 8 PM reservation, but since we were in the area early, Chris B. kindly accommodated us for an earlier seating. We settled on the rooftop deck, which set the mood with a vibrant, buzzy vibe. The service was outstanding throughout. Our waiter greeted us promptly, with a trainee at the table. (My apologies for forgetting their names). Both were exceptionally pleasant. The trainee did a superb job walking us through the menu, explaining the concept of ordering. We decided on a variety of dishes, and Aba delivered: - Wild Mushroom Hummus: A smooth earthy dish with roasted mushrooms folded into a creamy hummus, finished with truffle oil and herbs. Yummy! - Tuna & Watermelon: A refreshing pairing of tender tuna balanced with juicy watermelon, cucumber, pomergrant seeds and mint. Loved it! - Green Chili Shrimp: Served in a metal dish used for escargo. The shrimp were covered by breadcrumbs and lots of butter with a slight kick to it. Great for dipping your bread in. It did not disappoint! - Pan Seared Halibut: A perfectly seared, delicate fillet, moist and flaky that highlighted the fish's clean, buttery profile. And from the cocktail menu, the Aloe? It's Me. It has a kick to it. Loved it too. Everything was excellent--the food was inventive and delicious, the service was great and the rooftop ambiance added a memorable layer to the evening. The salad tasted fresh but lacked flavor. I could hardly taste the acidity of lemon juice. The Tajine was really new to me. I only had chicken Tajine before and the ingredients were quite different from this one: the lamb shank was cooked with prunes, cinnamon, honey and caramelized onions, so that it had lots of sweetness (in fact, a bit too sweet for me). It was topped with some hard boiled eggs and almonds. Try blending the egg yolk with the sauce/broth and having it with the lamb. The almonds added some crisp ones to the fork-tender meat.
