I've been here before but forgot how everything was. The staff was friendly and attentive, food was amazing, and overall experience was very good. I got the lamb shank (spicy) which was literally fall apart amazing. It was extremely tender and came with two sides of rice. The lamb was a bit fatty in some areas but overall it was a great eat. My gf got chicken and it was great as well. We had hummus as an appetizer and we both thought it was tasty. I believe the owner was there and he gave me a rose to give to my gf. I hate writing reviews. When I do, I only write positive ones or I don't write them at all. Unfortunately, tonight's service did this to me. We sat on the patio for dinner service and there was a drunk couple behind us, I kid you not playing an acoustic guitar and singing terribly, smoking cigarettes, breaking classes, falling over, etc. When I say drunk, I'm talking over served, I hope they don't fall into the street drunk. My buddy and I couldn't even hear each-other they were that obnoxious. One of the servers was enabling them by literally smoking with them and hugging on the drunk girl (he was slick and got her number but came off as weird so no props given). I asked our server to get them to stop playing music which I didn't think was much to ask as I thought was at a restaurant but she just smiled and walked away. Not to mention the menu online doesn't match the menu in person. Like I said, I hate writing this but as an owner I would want to know what my employees are doing or not doing in this case. read more

I thoroughly enjoyed the winter lunch special that I got from Pars Cove yesterday. Delicious food made with fresh ingredients, and a great value. I've dined at the restaurant in the past and wasn't as impressed with the food while dining in person, but the lunch takeout was fantastic. I will be back soon for more takeout! We were very excited for this food, however, It is not real Persian food and not at all authentic. Quality is ok for the price I guess! We have ordered kask e bademjoon ( eggplant), Barg and sultani . Meat was not fresh and was marinated with too much spices ( I assume to cover the cheap quality of meat). Kabab Barg and kubide do not have originally any spices on them ( only salt and pepper). Rice was not fresh but complimentary grill vegetables were nice. 2.5 stars We came here on a rainy cold Chicago weekday per the suggestion of my dinner companion. The restaurant was absolutely empty, just us along with the owner and waitress. The food was not anything special. I prefer Noon O Kabab. Despite not being busy, it took them forever to get the food out to our table. We had a eggplant appetizer, the accompanying salad/soup, a chicken dish and a vegetarian dish. I thought that the inside decor and look was very outdated and the semi-upstairs semi-basement setup did not help. In my opinion it would have so much more potential if it were renovated inside. I was really excited about this place because the reviews were so fantastic! Sadly, I left this meal pretty unsatisfied and underwhelmed. Pars Cove is a very intimate and cozy restaurant - great ambiance for a romantic date or a low key night out with friends. My friend and I were searching for a place to have dinner Saturday night and we decided to try this place with a Groupon and the high reviews on Yelp. We came and were seated immediately in their front room section. The groupon gave us a great selection of food,- a pitcher of alcoholic drink, an appetizer sampler, 2 soups or salad, 2 entrees, and 2 desserts. It was a really great Groupon deal for all the food it gives you. We picked the Sangria which wasn't the best and also wasn't the worst - it was a red wine base which I wished had more fruit juice to help counteract the bitterness of the wine. The appetizer sampler came with a delicious hummus, fresh baked bread, tapenade, mixed cucumber and tomato salad with feta, potato salad, stuffed grape leave, and one other thing I couldn't identify but tasted of curry. This sampler was pretty delicious and the hummus was probably the highlight of my entire meal. Afterwards we both had the lentil soup which was good and standard. For entree's we chose the beef barg and lamb shank. Both dishes lacked salt and flavor. The beef barg was cooked incredibly well - a perfect medium rare (which they didn't ask us how they liked our beef cooked) and when it came out, it looked like it had a lot of seasoning. Upon first bite, we tasted tender beef but really nothing else. The lamb shank was very tender and fell apart but again, lacked anything to enhance the lamb flavor. I chose a tomato and garlic sauce to go on top and even that was a pretty mild flavor :( I've never salted a restaurant dish so much in my life. Both dishes came with lentil mixed with rice which was cooked well. The meal was topped off with a serving of ice cream with some fruit topping and honey. This was pretty delicious and probably was my second favorite course next to the hummus. At the end of the meal, they do give every lady a rose which is a really nice touch. This is the first restaurant that I've ever seen do that and for that, I give the owner kudos for making the guests feel special :) For food though, I think not. read more

My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful meal here during our October, 2022 visit to Chicago. This restaurant serves phenomenal Middle Eastern food in a quiet, understated atmosphere. We were served by a really helpful and low-key server who helped us select what to eat. The food is prepared by the owner who was extremely hospitable and really seemed dedicated to his work and to making sure we were happy with our meals. We chose a fixed price dinner for two consisting of an array of appetizers including baba ganoush, hummis, stuffed grape leaves, then a salad, and then the main course which had one phenomenal lamb chop each and kabobs of chicken, steak and a mix of ground lamb and beef accompanied by rice. All of this was perfectly cooked and delicious. We really enjoyed the authenticity of our experience. We will definitely come back the next time we come to Chicago. read more

This is a review that has less to do with the food served, but instead with what appeared to be an unethical treatment of us by the venue. tldr: got overcharged by 42% ($100) on the bill over the rate promised when the reservation was made. Four days prior to the eventual dinner, I called the restaurant to find out if I could combine groupons for a party of six. Max, the owner, told me that rather than buy the groupons he'd offer me same dinner and rate directly without involving groupon. He made it appear that he does this regularly for customers. He promised alcohol to be included in the promised rate (just like the groupon did). We settled on an exact figure for pretax bill. So when I arrived, I asked him if we are getting the agreed upon groupon rate and got an affirmative response. However when the bill was presented he charged us for alcohol (of which we had less than was agreed upon - two bottles of wine). Because the dinner was celebratory, I decided against spoiling the mood by trying to figure out the issue. I suspect that was the whole bait & switch sort of deal the owner was hoping to pull on us. I ordered the chicken medi and those tenderloins were the juiciest and most perfectly cooked pieces of chicken I ever had. You MUST order the appetizer sampler as well! He was very kind and hospitable. We even chatted a bit in Farsi. That was cool. Along with Max, the customer service was outstanding. I think this place is a hidden gem. I love trying new kinds of food and Persian is no different. My boyfriend and I went here to have a nice dinner and weren't disappointed. We saw online they had a good deal for dinner + app + bottle of wine. When we got there however, they said they weren't honoring that deal.... which is frustrating because then they should take it off the internet!!! They ended up giving us the same deal but for $10 more. We got the appetizer platter and we're really pleased with everything on it. We split the two entrees and each of those were great as well. The interesting thing about the menu is that most of the entree items are very similar but have different spices with them. So I think anything we chose would have been really good. They do have a patio outside, so I think that would be pretty enjoyable. We ate inside and it's kind of underground, but it still has a cozy feel to it. read more

I have been here multiple times because the food is really good - specifically the kebabs! Great juicy and tender meat, good flavor, never disappoints! The only gripe I have with this place is that it feels like the decor has not been updated since 1985. Things look and feel a bit old and musty and dingy, and it makes me not really want to sit in the restaurant. The place is great! Set somewhat underground, the dining area of this place is "cozy"; we had a party of around 20 and it was hard to find consecutive seating to accommodate such a large party. That being said though, the service was on-point and the staff were nice. They were aware of my tree-nut allergy and informed us of which dish had nut ingredients or not. We went family-style and had a plate of the following, per two-people: -- Pars Sampler: consisted of hummus (delish!!), Eggplant Kashk, Bulgarian Feta, Mozzarella,Tapenade, Shirazi Salad, & Dolmeh, which is a gradeleaf stuffed with fresh herbs, Legumes and rice -- Baked Lamb Fesenjan: I didn't eat this, because there was a walnut pomegranite sauce. But seemed like others really enjoyed it -- Lamb Koubedeh: Ground & well seasoned lamb & beef, skewered & Grilled with Tomato & Onion, srved with basmati rice. This was absolutely delicious -- Chilean Seabass: never had chilean seabass, but heard it was good, and I can agree!gies -- Dill Salmon: this was pretty good too, not as good as the chilean seabass, but the mix of salmon and seasonal veggies, it was a really good combo too. Washed all this down with some reds and enjoyed good company, this place is definitely something to check out, if you're in the mood for middle eastern-type food. BATHROOM REVIEW: Located all the way in the back (easy to miss, since there's no sign besides at "Exit" sign) the bathroom consisted of a urinal and stall. There was a sign that said "Flush twice", but the urinal handled things well with just one. Overall, decently clean. I couldn't evaluate the stall, as someone was in it. Sit or squat? Max (the owner) and all of the staff are so accommodating and sweet. The food is delicious too! I came with a party of 6 on a Saturday night. We got a few appetizer samplers to share. The hummus and tapenade was delicious, and others in my party really enjoyed the dolmeh and eggplant. The meals came with a salad or lentil soup, and sides of rice and some other grain. The salad greens were fresh, and the dressing was good. I heard the lentil soup was flavorful as well. Portions were pretty big for the salad/soup. Our party got a variety of kebabs and lamb shanks (lamb saffron), and the ground beef/lamb. The lamb shank was fall off the bone tender. It was a huge bonus that most of the meat (except the beef tenderloin) was halal since some people in our party had dietary restrictions. This mom & pop shop has been around for over 50+ years and I wish them more success to come! Please do yourself a favor and stop by for a meal and wonderful service by Max and team. The place is cute and a little romantic First glance at the menu i was like ooooooh this place is a bit pricey. But with so many good reviews we went with it. We ordered the hummus as an appetizer. There was a lot of hummus and not many thing to dip IN the hummus. Instead of bringing us more pita, the rest of hummus went to waste. I ordered the Saffron Vegetables, it came with the Cove Salad, which was nothing special. mainly lettuce, with a pretty good dressing. The actual meal was pretty small for the $18 price tag. There was about 3/4 cup veggies, 1/4 c rice and another 1/4 c of rice/lentil mix. The food tasted ok - sort of bland, but not good enough to make up for the small portion and high price tag.
