I thought Pars was an excellent restaurant for Persian food. Having married a Persian, we eat Persian food all the time in the Bay Area. We have the luxury of many restaurants as well as my mother-in-law's home cooked delights. When visiting Alb, my sister-in-law recommended we try it out. We went there with a party of 9 (including 3 kids) and they accommodated us with ease. They were a bit slow on getting us our drinks and appetizers, but they were also slammed. The food was excellent. I got my favorite Fesenjan while most everyone else either got kebabs or the veggie plate. Note that the veggie plate is basically the same as the veggie sampler platter they offer for an appetizer. All in all, I'd recommend this place to anyone wanting good Persian food. I will definitely be going back there when visiting my family in Albuquerque. read more

This place is so delicious. We came on a Thursday night and it was almost closing time so there was not many people. We were attended very quickly. Our server answered all our questions about the different menu options and he did not make me feel embarrassed to ask. The food came out quickly and it was so delicious. Good Food- A tad pricey My Fiancée and I went Saturday evening after unsuccessfully trying to eat a Saffron (Out of food). We went hear after hearing great things about the restaurant. The food did not disappoint. It was fresh and flavorful. We both ordered the gyro (beef/lamb) plate. With you gyro comes a generous side of Greek salad. The gyro meat was tender and wonderfully spiced. Although it could have been warmer, it was still one of the better gyros if eaten. The salad was my favorite part. The greens were cool and crisp and the dressing with feta chunks was great! Lastly, we order both the Persian and the traditional baklava. The Persian, a more cake-y version is made with rose water and almonds. The flavor is good, not my favorite but still good. Its very parfum-y in taste. The traditional baklava was great. Definitely in the top 3 I've ever had. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals and will be back. However, I do think it is a little pricey. The gyro plates were $16.00 each. Owner is a nice and professional guy. He didn't hesitate to make things right after a slight miscommunication with our waitress. The kubideh kabob was great and the portions were generous. I also tried the Persian ice cream which was delicious as well. The atmosphere is the reason I added a 5th star because my family really enjoyed the dancer. Overall this is a great restaurant to enjoy Persian cuisine which can be complicated and delicate to make at home. TOO EXPENSIVE, NOT WORTH IT, BETTER PLACES THEN THIS!!!! I have had authentic Persian food from many other honest, clean, fairly priced establishments. The owner is not honest with his pricing. He charges too much for what is offered. The meat is so thinly cooked and charged double the price for what is given. the must-o-musir portion (and other Appetizesr kaske-badumjoon) that was provided was half as much the amount that is given at any other persian establishment. He charges $5 for something that is only worth $2.50. He states that it was 5oz. When Confronting the Owner every excuse is given except an appology. He had stated that most of his clients are american and waste the food, so he does not pour too much for his customers.its almost as though you have to be qualified as a persian to get large quantiy of food. The portions should match the dollar amount. Let the Customer decide what to do with the remaining amount of food (doggie bag). He stated that we should have stated that we are persian to get the fair amount that we are paying for. If I had known I would have gone to a high end resturant instead. A resturant has to posses the Quality, Quantiy, and Honesty. Quality: Food was ok but I have have had 10 time better. Quanity: for the amount that I had paid - NOT WORTH IT Honestly: The Owner of this establishment is not honest and is ripping off his AMERICAN (as he put it) customers. You may see one price for your food on the menu, then be charge a higher amount on your check. When confronted He stated that We raised our prices 6 months ago but have changed the prices on the menu yet. (Any resturarnt that i have been to that has changed the prices would alter the price with correction tape). Example: Soltani menu price was $22.00 and charged $23.00. for barely any meat. He may also be lying about the beef being Organic. I have sooooooo Much More that I can say but It Not Worth Much More of My Time. The cuisine was flavorful and delicious! They dealt well with our 17-month old daughter - we had a high chair at our table quickly and the belly dancer and the owner both took special note of her and were kind when speaking to her. The waiter, Danny, was very friendly and honest. His recommendations were all delicious and helped us to enjoy everything we ate! The meals are large, so be prepared to take a box home. They also have family-style meals for large groups and a kids menu. The restaurant felt very Persian with lots of lovely hanging fabrics and printed tapestries. It's not a modern look, but the old-world style blends seamlessly with the cuisine for a unique dining experience. On weekends, a belly dancer performs, only adding to the overall authentic feel. Clearly, the owner is not well versed in customer relations and is extremely petty. I usually go in once a month but ordered over the phone this time for pick-up. I ordered a 'Chicken Shish Kabab' on a Friday at 12pm. It is their Friday daily special, and shows on their site as $15. I go to pick it up, and it was rung up as $16. I ask why and was told by the hostess that they go off the in-store menu pricing. But, I got the price off their online menu on their legitimate website. I ask to speak to a manager and the owner comes out a few minutes later, guns blazing refusing to correct the price. He tells me that the site cannot be "trusted" and that they always go off the physical in-restaurant menu. How am I supposed to know the physical menu pricing if I'm ordering off the phone from home for pick-up? He continued to argue with me for 5 minutes over A DOLLAR. He refused to correct the price, even when I showed him the menu off my phone. Now, I will be able to sleep tonight losing a dollar, but it's the principle and ethics of the situation that compelled me to keep fighting. How can he and his restaurant be trusted when they're up-charging people and there are discrepancies between the site and restaurant menu that they refuse to acknowledge? He then said if I don't like it, that he'd just cancel the whole order of $60 (there were other people's orders from work on it). Because I didn't want to cancel an order of other people's food, I gave in and paid the price. I informed him though, that I would never be coming back and he had lost a customer for life. He didn't seem to care in the slightest. Over a dollar, he has now lost the hundreds of dollars I would have continued to spend in the coming years. I would rather not give my business to a restaurant that has shady rules and unethical principles. Impressive place. Decor is very traditional and majestic. I met a friend for lunch here as we were wanting to try something different. I had the gyro and a cup of soup. Both were very tasty. However the restaurant was relatively empty. I want to go back at night because they're supposed to have belly dancing on the weekend. I would expect a fun date night on a weekend night. Tonight was my first time at Pars and I was very pleasantly surprised. The whole restaurant is majestic Persian themed. It is classy and decorated beautifully. You can have an option of sitting at a regular table or a low table a couple inches to the floor. I ordered the vegetarian Fesinjoon with walnuts and pomegranate sauce. It comes in a hummus like paste and is paired with a plate of rice to eat together. The Fesinjoon was good, but perhaps more of an acquired taste kind of thing. I liked eating it with the complimentary Naan. I drank the pomegranate white tea and it was one of the best tea I have ever had. For the end of the meal, I ordered the zoulbia which is a deep fried rose water wheat and honey. It tasted similar to what a funnel cake would taste like soaked in honey. It was good but very sweet. I couldn't have eaten it all myself. Another cool thing about this restaurant is that you can order hookah for outside. read more

We found this place completely by accident and I am so glad we did. The outside is an unassuming space on a strip mall. Inside, the main dining hall looks like a sultans tent. The food is delicious. Try the pomegranate wine. The service is quick and very friendly. They have a belly dancer, on weekends I believe only. I really enjoyed her show as did my daughter and her friend to whom she taught a few moves. Definitely a place I will go back to when I'm in Albuquerque. read more

I've been eating at Pars since I was in high school and they were just a gyro place in Montgomery Plaza. An Albuquerque institution, Pars has grown into a nice place to have a great meal. One of the absolute worst Persian restaurants I have ever eaten at; even though the atmosphere and menu were professional and pleasant, the food was not. The Kabob Koobideh was overcooked along with the Kabob Barg. The mast'o'kear wasn't too bad but bareable, the kashkebodemjoon was a bland blended concoction of unpleasant ingredients. The doogh that was available, both bottled and house variants were bad. The Ghormeh Sabzi was horrendous, too watery, and remnants of meat instead of good sized chunks. Normally I would brush this off but I brought guests and it was not a pleasant experience whatsoever. We brought up our opinions to the manager and were met with heavy defense, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone if they are looking for authentic Persian food. read more

I have lived in the area for a while and Pars has never really interested me. But as of late, I had heard of people enjoying this place, especially for their gyro. That was what I was in the mood for, so finally we decide to give it a try. The interior is very unique. It might be a good time to sit in the main room with the "short chairs" & a belly dancer, but we were just here for dinner on a Sunday. To make this short, we spend a lot of money on the same items I would have had at Olympia Cafe, only not as good. Really more like 4.5 stars but I felt sorry for their lower than deserved rating because of the idiot who rated it one star while admitting they haven't actually eaten there yet. Anyway, I found this place and asked a Palestinian friend in ABQ if he liked it. Hell yes! was the answer. I took him there and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. The place is quiet and nicely appointed. Would be a great choice for a date night. The waitress I got was very attentive and helpful. I didn't know how I'd like the doogh (as I'd never tried it before) so she brought me a small sampler to try free of charge. I didn't as it turns out and so I was glad she did. I got the lamb shish kebob and the stew sampler. Way too much for one sitting, but I had it boxed and enjoyed it again for lunch the following day. The cuts of meat, vegetables and Basmati rice are all fresh with clean flavors. According to my friend it is very authentic and for my money matches the best quality Persian food I've had on the West Coast. The prices are more than decent for the quality and the lunch menu is even better value. I'll certainly be going back each time I'm back in ABQ. The menu is extensive, so I'll have plenty of visits before I start to get bored. read more

The manager is a total jerkwad. He wouldn't honor the Gift card specifically purchased for a family dinner on Valentines. He kept trying to rush us out the door even though it took 30 minutes for them to take our order, 30 minutes to get our food out and 30 minutes to get our dessert order. Had never been to this restaurant before and had heard so many good reviews about the whole Persian experience... Needless to say they basically ruined my Valentine's Day. We were told over the phone to book 2 weeks in advance, that there would be belly dancers (which we thought would be AMAZING) and that we were get a package deal for $80 per couple that booked in advance! We show up 10 mins early to our time slot... The place was EMPTY! We literally could have just walked in instead of getting reservations! The food was amazing which is why they are even getting 3 stars only but the experience was not noteworthy! We were there for a total of an hour and 30 minutes and not one belly dancer in sight. We asked the server why there was no entertainment, and he stated they were not coming till the next time slot which was an hour away. Also looking at the regular menu, the food range from $12-$20... So for two people it would cost around $60 at the highest (including an appetizer) but yet we spent around $92! I feel like there was false advertisement and I was really looking forward to the experience of this place which I did not receive. read more

My husband and I just ate here and it was amazing. The atmosphere was perfect! Super cozy and romantic on the floor seats! The belly dancer was fun too! The food was great and the portions were huge! The owners wife makes the deserts! They were delicious looking, and the pecan cheesecake was one of the best I've ever had! The wine list is a little small but had some great selections. I went to Pars on New Year's Eve with a friend. The owner greeted us with, "Everybody comes at once," which seemed odd since we had reservations and no one else seemed to be waiting. We were seated within a couple of minutes at a table for two. We ordered a sample appetizer platter which had dolmas, falafel, humus, babaganoush and kalamata olives. Everything was fresh and tasty - off to a good start. Our server wanted us to order our entrees at the same time we ordered the appetizer but I wanted to wait a few minutes so all our food wouldn't arrive at the same time. He assured us it wouldn't and to his word the entrees arrived about 10 minutes after the appetizer. My friend got the lamb kebabs. We were expecting two skewers with lamb and grilled vegetables in between. What she got was a plate of 8 date-sized lamb pieces on a bed of rice. No skewers, no vegetables just the lamb pieces on rice. There was one grilled tomato plopped down by itself on the opposite side of the plate. Nothing but lamb and rice which made for the bleakest presentation I have seen in any dish. The lamb was tender and flavorful. I ordered the beef and lamb gyros with a side salad. There was one gyro on the plate and the salad was a nice mix of green leaf lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers. The vinaigrette was not mixed in but instead came in a ramekin and tasted like a bottled dressing. I believe a proper salad should be tossed with a dressing not just puddled on top. The meat was flavorful but I would not order it again especially given the $18 price tag. It really seemed more like a light lunch plate. For desert we had a key lime pie with was delicious, the lime was fragrant and the whip cream, which made up most of the pie, was freshly made. When we ordered, we were told that we had to spend a minimum of $50. Halfway through the meal, the server came by to ask my friend if she wanted a to-go box for the mound of rice on her plate (she had finished the lamb pieces). I told him that we were still eating. At the end of the meal, our server informed us that if we spent a penny less than $50 we wouldn't only be charged the $50 minimum, but would be charged an additional $10. He said he would bring us some Turkish Delight to make the check over $50. The Turkish Delight was two small candies with a hard, gelatinous substance with some nuts in between covered in powdered sugar. We each tried it but it was inedible so we left it on the plate - but at least we hit the $50 minimum without paying the $10 penalty. The service was friendly but inattentive as our empty water glasses. I was fine leaving a 20% tip (I've waited tables in many restaurants) but again I was surprised to learn that a gratuity of 20% was automatically applied for a party of two "because it's the holidays." At least he told us! I'm sure there are other dishes at Pars that are better but we won't be going back. read more
