The Parx Grill restaurant has left the best impressions! Hospitable hosts, delicious dishes, beautiful presentation, a wide wine list, and wonderful dessert. I recommend it to everyone! My Wife and I like to visit Parx Grill on Wednesday to enjoy a few drinks and share a Chicken Parmesan Dinner at the Bar. The bartender Amanda is always pleasant and attentive, and the food is very good. They give you a nice sized portion and the bread basket is also a nice addition. I highly recommend the Grill, especially on Wednesday, when it is not too crowded and Amanda is working. The other staff are always nice and are very good at their jobs. read more

If you're not one to go out to diner much, or if you haven't been to any of the exceptional restaurants Philly has to offer, then this place might just be something you like; but then again, you could definitely get a better meal at any one of the numerous chain eateries located just outside the Parx complex, and save yourself significant $$$ in the process. One of thee WORST meals my wife and I have ever had, hands down. At that's coming from someone who eats out at least three times a week. The ribeye was absolutely tasteless, tough, and chewy. I had to salt it just to get some flavor. The baked potato was old, cold and under-cooked. The butter wouldn't even melt on it. My wife ordered the roast chicken and it was delicious -- until she got to the middle and found it was not cooked through-and-through. It was actually pink in the middle. Her side spinach was as flavorless as my ribeye. Naturally, we said something to the waiter, and we received a heartfelt, "I'm sorry." That's it. While we asked for the manager, he was so occupied we could not wait for his attention because we had a show to get to in the casino. read more

I must say that they have taken it up a notch or two, both with their menu selections and the quality of the food! I started with a very delicious dirty martini, is there anything else? The escargot, burgundy style were cooked to perfection with shallots, garlic, butter, herbs and finished off with a good red wine, so yummy and I lapped up every drop of the sauce with the grilled crustini! The mushroom bisque was to die for, I haven't had such a wonderful mushroom bisque since dining at the Terrace Restaurant at Longwood Gardens! In fact, I will go so far as to say this was quite memorable and probably the best I will ever have. How they were able to chop those mushrooms into the size of a speck, I will never know. The bisque was so very flavorful and topped with crème fraiche, truffles and white truffle oil. Remarkable indeed! Listen to this! 14 ounces of broiled rare Australian lamb chops, that melted in my mouth with each bite. They were served as two triple cut chops and I was humming while I was gathering each tender morsel of these flavorful chops. The chops were huge, so meaty and not one bit of fat, so much better than the fingernail sized Colorado lamb chops, so much better that I did not even offer hubby a bite. Speaking of hubby, he did share in some of my escargot and mushroom bisque, surprisingly, as he will normally eat neither and really did enjoy both. Michael then had the wedge and I really appreciated how they served it, all was on one long rectangular plate, with the wedge in the center, red onions in one corner, diced ripe tomatoes in another, sliced boiled eggs, and a side of bleu cheese dressing, heavily loaded with bleu cheese crumbles. He also had an 18 ounce porterhouse, which he ordered rare and devoured it, saying that it was not the best he has ever had, but he enjoyed it. With our entrees you have a choice of baked potato, truffled mashed, stuffed baked potato, sea salted shoestring potatoes or sticky rice. I chose the frites and hubby had the loaded baked potato, both were very good. They also have plenty of premium sides that you can order. The atmosphere is relaxing, beautiful decor, the servers all work together and this time I left quite impressed. The prices were surprising low compared to other upscale steak houses. Parxgrill has several qualities of a good steakhouse down but it is lacking the overall package. My husband and I recently visited for dinner having both won a voucher for $50 a piece in food. Since we were dining on a Sunday night, it was pretty easy to make an Opentable.com reservation. Upon checking in, we were immediately seated at a booth in the front of the restaurant. The dining room was large and bright, which is something I don't typically associate with a steakhouse. Our booth was very spacious and there was also a decent amount of space between the nearby booth and other tables. From our table we were able to see the casino and weren't isolated from the sounds either. In my personal opinion, I'd want some separation between the two. There's something about penny slots that I don't want to associate with my fine dining experience. The menu was everything one would expect of a steakhouse. There was a decent amount of variety of meats, seafood and fish entrees. The pricing was also what one would expect of a steakhouse and felt it was pretty in-line with other steakhouses within the market. They had Lobster Bisque as a soup offering so I immediately knew what my appetizer would be. I received a fairly large bowl of a rich, sherry based soup with many small pieces of lobster. The bowl cost $14 but I felt that the sizing and proportionality made it worth it. My husband ordered that caprese salad which was one of the most extensive caprese salads I've ever seen. In addition to mozzarella and tomato, it also included crostini and basil drizzled with a vinaigrette. For our entrees, I went with the Filet Oscar and my husband went with the 10 ounce filet. Both entrees came cooked perfectly to our liking, medium rare. The meat was juicy and tender, and clearly a decent cut of meat. My Filet Oscar also came with asparagus and cheddar au gratin potatoes. I asked for the hollandaise on the side since I had already started with a rich, cream based soup. Perhaps I shouldn't have had the hollandaise on the side, because I felt my steak was slightly lacking in seasoning and flavor. We've both had some really good steak in our lives and I could tell this was a quality piece of meat, however just not the best out there. One of the biggest things lacking in the evening was service. The staff just went through the motions and wasn't concerned with giving us an overall experience. They didn't even know we were using a gift card until we asked for the check, which made it a little more discouraging to think that's the standard treatment. We had several people taking care of us, none of whom even bothered to introduce themselves. I would have liked more personal experience and a little bit of a woo factor. It also took a very long time for our appetizers to come out. I understand fine dining, but it got to that uncomfortable point. Unless they were catching the lobster from the ocean and growing the tomato from a seed, the lag time was unacceptable. Overall, Parxgrill wasn't bad but I've had better (although not bad for a pretty much free dinner). Unless I'm getting another comped meal, there's a good chance I won't be back. read more

We won a gift certificate for Parxgrill and it was a pretty good treat. We started out with fried calamari which was very good. Then we got soup; New England clam chowder (one of the best I've ever had) and lobster bisque (it was ok). Then came out Caesar salads. Each had a crispy Parmesan piece and toasted bread. It was good, but not the best. We both ordered a New York strip steak, lobster mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, regular mashed potatoes and mushrooms. One side is enough to feed two people, so we had to many sides, but our hefty gift card covered that! We were disappointed in the steaks. They weren't bad, but for $45 they were not good. Tried the lobster bisque it seemed up to par. The assortment of bread was very good as well. Fried onion rings were good. Well, it would seem that my wife and I have again inadvertently bypassed and/or missed one of the best dining opportunities in Bucks County. As a avid participant in various games of chance since 1978, I've had the opportunity to experience casino fine dining for 40 Years. Being somewhat of a connoisseur of both good gambling and fine eating opportunities I must stress that the meal we had last night at the parks grill was one of the finest meals I've ever had in a casino, or for that matter any restaurant. Upon entering the ParxGrill. We were graciously met by the receptionist who quickly seated us in a very comfortable and oversize booth. We were quickly served bread and butter, a quick mention with regard to the bread, a marvelous selection of cheesebreads flatbreads Ryebread, etc. The menu had a wide selection of fabulous and creative appetizers, salads, soups and entrées. I was unusually overcome by the choices (typically there's one or two items in the appetizer and entrée selection which I will find adequate for my culinary pallet). There were nearly a dozen items across the menu that I was anxious to sample. My situation was more complicated by the specials which would brilliantly described and presented to us by Rock, our waiter. Before I go further, I think it's prudent that I spend a moment discussing the lost art of fine service. It is been sometime since my wife and I had both a matched marvelous meal, and professional wait service. Both Rock and Jeff, proved to have excellent grasps on the nuances involved in fine dining and fine service. Rock in particular was a consummate professional knowing when to appear, when to check on us and when to leave us and our meal to enjoy each other. Too often waitstaff seem to think that they are the center of the experience and draw away from the meal. Both Jeff and Rock understood the importance of making recommendations when needed, personal comments when appropriate, and when to glide by-causally checking on our progress. Back to the food, with menu in hand, I was almost convinced that I would spend the evening enjoying the chicken Parmesan and an appetizer of stuffed meatballs. Unfortunately for me, Jeff strongly recommended the seafood risotto. I was now faced with the challenge of convincing my wife to graciously split the risotto and the chicken Parm between us. Allowing us both the opportunity to taste the risotto and the chicken Parmesan. As a avid purveyor of fine Italian food I was pleasantly surprised by the the thoughtfulness and quality the chef applied to both of the entrées. Specifically the seafood risotto, in which the shrimp were firm, well cooked, the scallops were tender and evenly cooked, the fish fell apart and the rice of the risotto was masterfully prepared. I could continue for quite a while describing the quality of the soups I had the seafood chowder my wife at the French onion soup. Both were some of the best we've ever experienced. However, I will leave the readers with a challenge- checkout the ParxGrill, if I have misrepresented any element of the dining experience- call me out as a ding fraud! Do not let the name fool you. This is not a simple grill but a casually elegant restaurant inside the casino. I would go here again even if I wasn't playing the slots. The food was amazing! Decided to try our luck at Parx on Saturday night. After a nice run at the tables, we rolled into Parx Grill about 15 minutes after our reservation. Didn't make a difference. There were surprisingly many open tables for a Saturday night. The very attentive host quickly escorted us to a nice quiet table per our request. He advised that we'd be served this evening by a team of 3 (server, assistant and runner). Server arrived and listed a host of interesting specials. She seemed rushed but knew the dishes cold. We had to ask her to take drink orders. The flow was awkward. Cocktails and apps arrived at exactly the same time. Cocktails were fine. My shrimp cocktail app was presented beautifully. 3 rather large shrimp over a bed of ice. It's a shame the shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. My wife ordered the lobster bisque. It was generous in portion, well seasoned but clearly had been cooking much of the day. Mains also arrived too quickly for a restaurant 1/4 full. My ribeye was thin and overcooked. Not what you'd expect for a $40 cut. Server clearly understood and instantly refired another. My wife's salmon dish was prepared nicely. Perfect temp and garnished nicely. The shared side of au gratin potatoes was very tasty. My refired steak came out at perfect temp but again skinny. We opted to pass on dessert. At the end of the day, it was pricy for an OK meal. There was also confusion with the check (assistant dropped wrong check at our table). I suppose one should expect high prices and ok results at a casino restaurant but when comparing to marquis restaurants at other gaming venues, the grill has a hard time competing. read more

Came in this evening and looked at the menu. Honestly, not much in way of appetizers or soup if you don't eat seafood so I ordered Caesar salad and husband Calamari. For $12 it is the worst Caesar I have ever had. It tastes like water. Calamari has more peppers in it than it does Calamari. Wait staff, and yes there are 2 people, have been over one time to refill water. It took 15 minutes for the waiter to come over and Manager was great. Entree took another 15 minutes . Prime rib good but very fatty. Didn't want to complain again and have to wait 20 minutes for food. Won't be back again any time soon. Update! Didn't get seated right away because the host wasn't around for a few minutes, but it was the perfect opportunity to check out the decor, which is pretty cool. Not tacky, just visually interesting. The food was pretty good here. Tuna tartar was tasty, they make it here with avocado. I also got the sea bass, and wow it was really good. Tender, juicy and warm. MMM. For dessert they had a pretty big menu; I had the pear sorbet which was also really good. Overall, the food was delicious. The story with the drinks was a little different. I asked for a pretty standard drink, and when the waitress came back she asked me if it's what I wanted because the bartender had to look it up on her phone. Hearing that was a disappointment, and I think I would have been better off not knowing that. Whatever though, the drink was fine, the food was great, the interior really cool. read more

Stopped here before attending The Flaming Lips concert at the Xcite Center. We really enjoyed the place. It was little on the pricey side but the food was delicious! Our wait service was awesome. The waiters really helped make our dining experience feel like a special one. The Lobster Bisque is a must try! So good! The only setback is that you have to walk through the smoke filled casino to get inside. It kind of kills some of the romance of a signature restaurant experience. Jeff had waited on us before and he always made sure we were happy with our meal and drinks. He graciously answered our questions about our selections and would offer recommendations. Dined here on Saturday March 7th at 6pm. Was seated in the back (away from the smoky casino floors) and served promptly. Excellent blue cheese herb crusted filet! Fire shrimp app was tasty, just the right spice, and bacon Mac and cheese was great too. Above all, the service was outstanding. My husband asked Scott, our excellent waiter for siracha and he said they didn't have it, but he would go next door to the other restaurant to get him some. Boyfriend and I had a lovely date night at Parxgrill. I've been going to Parx since it opened and never knew this was here, so perhaps better signage is in order. For an app we ordered the oysters which were very fresh and delicious. The lobster ravioli didn't really do anything for me as they were a little dry. For the main course I got the sirloin in peppercorn sauce. The steak was done perfectly and the peppercorn sauce was perfection. Our dessert was pretty great too. I believe it was called the Vesuvius cake. Highly recommended! The best part of our experience was the waiter. I fidget his name but he's the fellow with the badass mustache. He was so attentive and personable. He was able to give good recommendations to this steak novice too. This restaurant is definitely pricey (this ran about $200 with tip) but it is a nice treat for a date night or special event. read more

Last night was our first visit. Our reservation was for 75 minutes before the show. The restaurant was not full. We were seated immediately and our waiter was attentive - the only 2 positives. Our meal took 50 minutes to arrive. We waived the waiter over to remind him we had a show and he said he would tell the chef. The manager came by when our food was served ( 20 minutes to showtime) and said don't worry you have plenty of time. We ate quickly, not the relaxed meal we planned. 2 people had chicken Parmesan - it was pink on the inside, crispy on the outside. One person had salmon, it was ok. We had good service with drinks and appetizers. However, we got there at 7pm and it was 8:11pm and we still hadn't been served out entrees. Tables behind and in front of us were served and those people came after us. We asked for the manager and told him to charge us for our drinks and apps so we could leave. He then told us that or entrees were ready and he would only charge us half price. It was another 10 minutes and then a different server brought them out and we just told him to pack them up to go. The manager came back with the entrees packed in a bag and said they were on the house. He then informed us that because my husband ordered a bone-in chicken dish, it takes 26 minutes to make the meal. That is still the longest 26 minutes I have ever experienced. Went here for dinner this past Saturday during a visit to Parx Casino. Tip #1: MAKE A RESERVATION! We actually tried to get into Chickie's and Pete's first-- their wait was over two hours long. The sans-reservation wait at Parx Grill was only an hour and fifteen minutes at 7:30pm on a Saturday. So we put our names in for 8:45pm. Luckily, as I said, the restaurant's IN a casino, so we weren't really at a loss for how to kill that hour and fifteen. When we returned, despite them expecting us and despite there being three hostesses at the stand chatting with each other, our table was not set up. One of them had to go over to the table and put out place settings before another seated us several minutes later. It wasn't a long wait, but based on the circumstances I thought it was certainly an avoidable inconvenience. So, we're seated, brought water and bread (really delicious bread, as another reviewer noted), and our drink orders are taken. Overall, the decor is very nice, but the restaurant isn't actually closed off from the casino at all, so the noise and smoke still wafts in. They might want to consider creating an actual open-and-close doorway for the restaurant in the future. Our waiter returns with our drinks, and we place our orders. Fairly quickly, our salads arrive. I had the caesar, and my two dining companions both had the wedge. All were satisfactory-- nothing special, really. For our main courses, I had the halibut, and my dining companions had the lobster tail and the steak (I don't recall which cut). Again, satisfactory, but we'd all had better for comparable (or, actually, lower prices). Sides were a la carte, but weren't as large as a la carte sides I've had at other fine dining establishments-- definitely big enough for two, but I'd say some weren't big enough for three or more (specifically the asparagus and the baked potato). General consensus: I'd compare Parx Grill to a little girl playing dress-up in her mother's gown and heels. They'd really love to be this fancy, classy place, and they've got the look down alright, but the nuts and bolts of it all, the food and service, is just not up to par with what fine dining should be. After a long and stressful day, my wife and I made a last minute reservation last Friday evening. It was 9:50PM and their last spot was open (10:00PM). We made the reservation via Open Table while in route and arrived 5 minutes late. We were afraid that the staff would be irritated by the last minute addition but in fact the servers and host were fantastic. Very accommodating evening though we were one of only 2 tables occupied from 10:00-11:15 when we finished. Scott and John were our waiters It helped that we were aware we had come in last minute and didn't wait 30 minutes to order but none-the-less, the staff made sure to make us feel relaxed and welcome. We noticed some changes in the menu and the staffing. When we asked, it turned out that the management had made some changes and it became obvious that they have made a big difference. We both had a bowl of their fantastic Lobster Bisque (it had been snowing that evening so this really hit the spot). My wife had a few glasses Malbec while we enjoyed a perfectly cooked Rib-eye, potatoes au-gratin and a wonderful Caesar salad. We finished off the meal with a very nice, in house prepared cheesecake. To be honest, in the past we had been left feeling that the ParxGrill was a mixed bag. mediocre at best but their recent changes have really paid off. It will likely become our "go to" for a nice meal near home. read more
