We truly enjoy coming here a few times a year. We particularly love how the beach is set up... very quiet, mostly tranquil and clear waters. The whole area is very family oriented and relaxing. A great perk is the walk to the beach... the water is quite possibly the shortest distance from your car (if you park nearby) than any other beach in the area. Good beach - uncrowded and lovely. The sand really was as soft as they say, a fact I initially discounted but quickly saw was important upon going to some of the other beaches closer to IRB. Its also very wide, so folks aren't crunched in a small space. Finding places like this is exactly why I LOVE the yelp app when i'm travelling - its definitely a local hangout and was very un-touristy. The only thing is that I was unable to find a public restroom - could be that I wasn't looking hard enough, but I wasn't there long enough for it to be an issue. For the time of day I arrived on a saturday (before 11), there was plenty of parking available but it did look more filled up when I left a few hours later. Worth checking out and a lovely place to walk/splash in the ocean! read more

This is my favorite beach in St. Pete! Pass-a-grille is a residential town and the beach is very quiet and it is not a commercial beach which is great. Parking is $2.25 per hour, which is kind of steep, but is well worth it; you can use the pay stations or the Park Mobile app. If you decide to go on the weekends, go early (before 9am) or after 3pm to find parking easily. There is a beach house on 9th street if you are looking for food and bathrooms. This will forever be my go to beach! read more

It's a beautiful white sand beach, what is there not to love?! But really...the beach was beautiful. Well groomed, not a lot of people (we went at the beginning of November), and dreamy blue waters. I was told to come here my a local who said this is where you can typically see dolphins too. Unfortunately we did not see dolphins but the walk on the beach of just fine. There were also a decent amount of small groups just chilling with 'beverages' in hand, my time of activity. Note: There are A LOT of shells on this beach which is a) great for for collecting but b) a little rough on the feet. None the less, I walked in the water and did not slice my foot open. Hopefully I will be back here during the summer so I can lay out and enjoy the whole day. read more

Excellent beach for a relaxing Saturday afternoon. It was pretty quiet and not too crowded. Parking was also not too complicated. It was a meter machine for about $2 per hour with easy access to the beach. It was clean and relaxing and I did see one security personnel overseeing the area. I like that this beach has no park fee to enter and is easy to get to from St. Pete. read more

Pass-A-Grille beach is my absolute favorite beach! Whenever my friends and I plan a beach day, this beach is always on my mind and I always volunteer to drive (from Orlando) so that they agree to go so far. I love all the beaches that I have been to on the Gulf side, but Pass-A-Grill always seems to be less crowded than Clearwater. There is parking along the beach (you must pay to park) and every time I've gone, parking wasn't too hard to find. The sand is so white and smooth, and the calm warm waters are perfect for taking a dip to cool off. I love that the beautiful pink Don Cesar is in the back drop as well. There are also tons of restaurants and bars in the area to choose from. If you're looking for a nice beach in St. Pete, I highly recommend Pass-A-Grille. read more

It's a great beach that deserves 5 stars! Although it is not as wide and as vast as Sandkey or Clearwater it has its own unique vibe. It feels like you are on vacation even if you are local and just talking a walk there on the weekend. Not as touristy as Clearwater but you will not be alone either. If you've never been there, try it at least once: you will not be disappointed, then decide if it's worth your time driving here more often. I've been living in Florida for almost a year now, and Pass-a-Grille is by far the best beach I have found to date. The sand is white and usually free of litter and garbage, and the water is clear and warm (however all of it is here compared to the California water I'm used to). Moreover, this is my go-to beach because its never overly crowded and overrun by tourists, even on the weekends. It is a laid back, relaxing get away not too far from decent restaurants and shops. I love this beach. It lacks all the things I hate about touristy beaches. It's water, sand, shells, dunes, and a few happy people hanging out with those they love. No high-rises, no tourist traps selling crappy made-in-China souvenirs, no chain restaurants. Beautiful sunsets, a rather clean beach, a few places to grab a bite or play cornhole, some benches and sun shelters. wide open, calm atmosphere, and ample parking makes this beach a top pick for family looking for an alternative to the overpopulated beaches towards clearwater. visited on a weekday morning in early April with family while on vacation. overall, this beach is a good choice for family! parking: ample parking is available on the west side of the street. payment for parking is processed using a kiosk located just west of the parking spots. the rate is $1.50/hour, with a 12 hour maximum. credit card IS accepted, and preferred. sand: the sand here is soft and white, but contains many sea shells. these seashells make for a great way to pass the day, as searching for unique shells can easily fill hours. compared to clearwater beach, near pier 60, this sand is just a soft and white, but the added seashells are a MINOR nuisance on bare feet. you can still go barefoot, just be sure to check where you walk so you don't step on a sharp edge of a fractured sea shell. water: the water here is clear and greenish blue. a convenient depth of 5 or 6ft is widely available at least several hundred feet into the gulf. the temperature of the water is cooler than clearwater beach, near pier 60, but no uncomfortable cool. activities/amenities: the is a bring your own adventure beach for the most part. if you need a seat or share, plan on bringing it with you. there are no vendors on the beach offering cabanas/chairs/umbrellas. watersports and water toy rental is not available either. food: there are plenty of restaurants and fooderies nearby, but very few are actually beachside. most of the establishments are located on the east side of the parking area. many places are 2 or 3 stories, making it perfect to lounge on a roof/patio and enjoy a delightful libation **NOTE** if you are in for a truly relaxing hidden gen, walk down (south) the beach until you see the rock formation forming a small pier (10-20 feet long). just on the other side of the small pier is an amazing cove that offers sparkling water, loads of sea shells, and hardly anyone to bother you! read more

When a beach has a solid 5-star rating you know it has to be good. Recently revisited Pass-a-Grille for the first time in years while trying to expand the beach repertoire in greater Tampa Bay. It is pretty much the perfect beach. The crowds are really limited, the sand is great (only better at Siesta Key, but it's way crowded there), the water is beautiful, there's bathrooms right across the street if you park properly, and you don't have to walk far to get to the water. Probably shouldn't say this for fear of getting the beach crowded, but if you're in Pinellas County and want a great beach, make sure you check out Pass-a-Grille. read more

I am an island girl from Hawaii so I am pretty hard to please when it comes to beaches. I do have to say this is the nicest beach I have been to, this side of the Pacific. The water is warm, the beach is clean, and there is a plethora of metered parking. Tons of shells for picking, which Hawaii does not have. I was enthralled like a 3 year old. I had no shame and went home with a fistful of tiny seashells to grace my bathroom counter. It was a wonderful memento of an afternoon spent by the sea. It was crowded which was the only drawback. No the place for a romantic afternoon but it was nice nonetheless. I highly recommend it! read more

The beach is perfect, the sand is white, the water is crystal clear, there is plenty of parking (metered). There are plenty of local restaurants, shops, and art galleries to keep you busy if you need to take a break from the sun. The pace is different here, it's slower, more relaxed, more Old Florida. I have lived on Pass-A-Grille for 12 years and know just about everyone. I absolutely love this area and wild horses couldn't drag me away! I have a home office here so I get to see all of the moods of the ocean every day. The sunsets I have experienced are breathtaking. TIP: the best kept quite beach secret - I shouldn't be saying this...is the north end of the beach, from north beach PAG to the Don CeSar Hotel no matter how packed the beach may be on a Holiday, that area is never crowded with kids screaming. Been there now a few times and always want to go right back. The water is perfect, the sand is really nice. While there this week a manatee was playing close to the shore so that was special for me and my wife. The thing we like the most is it's not crowded at all and all the people are nice.
