    Potato pancakes with mushroom

Great Ukrainian cuisine in this small BYOB restaurant. The borscht was great. Stroganoff was on the point. Potato pancakes were really good though probably not the healthiest thing in the world, though that's no fault of the restaurant. Highly recommend.

Very friendly atmosphere! Small family oriented restaurant! Always freshly made and cooked every day! Love coming here! Definitely recommended to everyone!

I've been here a few times now and while the menu reflects to same fare as most of the Russian restaurants in the area they are actually more successful at a majority of the dishes. Know first a foremost that like all the other restaurants in this category food is served family style on the tables. The cold appetizers and salads are good with a wide variety so you are pretty assured that there is something for everyone. Same goes for the hot appetizers. You can tweak and adjust the menu to include or exclude items as you need. With that said if you want good shish kabobs this is not the best option as they are the weakest of their menu items. The waitstaff and quick, polite and attentive to the point that they will flow one course of food seamlessly into the next. On the weekends there is a live singer playing & singing mostly Ukrainian songs so you can have a lively dance floor but also make the place very loud. So if you are looking for a place to have a nice conversation over dinner this is not the time/spot. For a quieter meal I recommend coming midweek or during lunch times.

Potato latke w/caviar and sour cream, mixed Japanese salads, assorted fish dish w/sea bass skewers, shrimp, and sea bass filets

Friends 30th birthday party at Passage Restaurant in NE Philly. If anyone is familiar with the Russian restaurant scene in Philly you know all the available options. This is the first time we were there since the new owners bought it and changed the name from 1001 Nights. It's a smaller place for to hold 60 people at the most. The one man band for the music was just ok, typical Russian and American songs. The food however was very good. Pictured we have a small potato latke with red caviar and sour cream on top. It's always a fan favorite and did not disappoint. Also pictured is an assortment of Japanese style salads such as Kani and seaweed salad. Typical taste as all the Russian restaurants and same quality you can purchase at any Russian supermarket. The bottom picture is an assortment of fish. Grilled sea bass skewers, shrimp and sea bass filets all covered in a creamy and subtly spicy sauce. I thought it was very good compared to other Russian joints. My wife disagreed but whatever. I'm drunk on vodka and everything tasted good. Basically, overall, it was a cozy atmosphere with solid food. Nothing extraordinary and nothing terrible. I would recommend it for a smaller party and would definitely return.

Absolutely amazing! My fiance and I came here for Brunch and from the very first bite I was BLOWN AWAY. We had the Borch and it was sooo good! I then got the Beef Stragonof (HIGHLY RECOMMEND IF YOU LIKE BEEF AND MUSHROOMS) And I had a FOODGASM for a good 5 Minutes. I knew this place was good but OMG it really exceeded my expectations! Will definitely be back!!! Thank you guys for the amazing meal!

The presentation of the dishes is gorgeous, served in very elegant and beautiful tableware, which makes the whole experience feel even more special. The service is just as impressive. The chef is very friendly and often comes out to check on guests, ask how everything is, and recommend dishes, which adds such a personal touch. The waitstaff are also very kind, attentive, and welcoming. As a lovely bonus, they serve complimentary warm mini rolls with a unique butter that tastes like a creamy, seasoned spread, almost like a flavored cream cheese or infused butter. It makes the rolls absolutely irresistible. Unfortunately I don't have pictures of the food but I have a video where we are celebrating our friend's birthday. Look how friendly is staff and chef! And all people who were in the restaurant. Highly recommend this place for both the food and the overall experience.

Imagine our surprise, that while in town for business, and with time to kill before an art exhibition, we discovered an Uzbeki restaurant. Immediately upon entering, we were greeted and led to a large comfortable booth in the back of the restaurant. The lighting was warm, the walls were adorned with beautiful rugs, and the customers' spirits were high. Each table had been pre-set with the resutarant's lovely plates and crystal drinkware. Given that this was our first time at an Uzbeki eatery, we asked our server for some suggestions. Upon doing so, she then asked us if we prefer meat or fish. After perusing the menu a bit more and taking her suggestions into consideration, we had decided to order a wide array of sorts, opting for the pickled herring and potato appetizer, some Tandoori Samsas, a bowl of the Kharcho soup, and an order of the Guyru Dumplings. Our dishes were brought out promptly and our server made sure to check on us periodically throughout our meal, at one point even offering to allow the kitchen to split some of our dishes up for us to make it easier to share with one another. The pallet of flavors we were presented with was colored and wonderful; the pickled hairing playing a perfect duet with the hearty roasted potatoes, pairing well balanced acidity and perfectly crisp potatoey goodness, the kharcho simultaneously lightly spicy and fully refershing with that dill coming throough alongside juiicy chunks of lamb, and the the delectable dumplings, swimming in a flavorful bath of broth and sour cream. As we were nearing fullness, we realized we had forgotten to add one more piece to this meal...the dessert! After this realization, we decided to share a piece of wonderfully sticky Phaklava, adorned with and generously filled with walnuts and golden raisans. Suzani Restaurant is not to be missed. It is a dining experience that makes me feel like you've been invited into someone's home, but also that you are sitting down for a royal banquet. Be sure to check it out if you ever find yourself in the area. 5/5 stars

Once inside, the feeling was a lot better. Not much in the way of art work on the walls, but still had a nice warm feeling. There were 3 of us and we did a lot of sharing. The Scallops in Shredded Filo was good but the Crab & Artichoke, with garlic aioli, parsley and capers was definitely "the winner". The Seafood Ceviche with scallops, halibut and shrimp was also delicious. While 2 of us were still enjoying our appetizers, our entrees were brought to the table and our plates moved to make room for them. I made the comment to no one in particular that I would try to eat faster as the seafood ceviche was pushed off to the side of the table. We had a 7 pm reservation and for the most part the restaurant was full by that time but we were not intentionally eating slowly. I could see if we might be taking up too much time eating and they had to move the tables but that was not the case as the restaurant was only half full by the time we left. For an establishment that is charging the prices that it is, Avg $18 for appetizers, high $30s for entrees, no one wants to feel rushed. The Halibut Almondine with Beurre Blank was good but not as good as we had hoped, with it being on the dry-side. The Dorado with Baby Vegetables was delicious as well as beautifully presented with "potato fish scales". A shared warm Pecan Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream completed our meal. Their menu is extensive making it an easy decision to return but I will mention that we would like a more leisurely experience this time around.

We got a few to try - the liver appetizer, eggplant salad, lagman and bread. - The Turkish liver was cooked and seasoned well. - The eggplant was warm and tossed in a cold salad. I liked it. The oil was surprisingly flavor ful. - The lagman portions were small for the price paid. It was also SO oily and could use a bit more salt. Flavors were not bad otherwise. - The bread was $3.50 for a small portion that I'm pretty sure I could get for much cheaper from the bakery next door. Upon entering the foyer, there were two doors. It was not immediately clear as to which one I should proceed thru, I chose the door that said "NO SMOKING" and it took me into a nicely decorated dining room. The waitress was a nice enough young lady with somewhat limited English skills. She could take our orders but it was difficult to have a more detailed conversation about the food. For example, I was concerned about the the Khachapuri (cheese filled bread) that I had preordered. Sometimes, this bread is served with a raw egg on top. I did not want this and spoke to the waitress about it. She seemed to understand what I was talking about. However when it was served, there was no raw or cooked egg on top to be worried about whatsoever. We specifically went to Oasis to try their Chicken Tabaka (small chicken fried in garlic). It was very good in that it was juicy, had a lot of flavor, and had a nice, crunchy sear. We had the Achuk-chuk (tomato and onion salad), delicious, Eel salad (basic spring mix salad with "sushi" eel and sauce on the side, ok/basic. We also ordered the Armeninan Eggplant salad but it never came out. We weren't charged for it either, so the order must have been lost in translation. If you like cheese, you'll like the Khachapuri as it was more cheese than bread. My group liked it a lot. We then had the rice pilaf with beef and lamb, chicken heart kabob, the ground lamb kabob, and samsa (baked "dumpling" w/ lamb and partially cooked onions). All were tasty. I'd like to go back and try their other dumplings/pierogies, soups, and more kabobs. The samsa, chicken tabaka, rice pilaf with beef and lamb, Khachapuri, and Achuk-chuk were our favorites. BYOB

The waiter was nice and pretty knowledgeable. Our seat and area had some rice from a previous party but the waiter cleaned it up quickly. We were recommended the bread and the samsa. The bread sounded pretty good, but flavor wise very mild with a tiny hint of sweetness. It certainly is delicious eaten warm though. Super crispy with a soft inside. It pairs very well with the Korean style short rib as it soaks up the sauce nicely. The samsa was pretty good. The crunchy crust with the pastry that encircles some meat and onions seems similar to the bread they serve. It comes with a sweet salsa. The flavor was nice, well seasoned but nothing too exciting. The beef short ribs were really good. There was about 6-7 pieces but they are not the skinny short ribs you see at Korean places. These were thick slices packed full of delicious fatty flavor with a kick of sweet and savory. No rice came with it but the bread you order is amazing with this as it helps cut the fattiness and grease of this dish. Lastly we had the kebabs. The sauce was the same sweet salsa with the samsa. It would be nice if they had other sauces that can be equally refreshing or something spicy could work too. The lamb nicely cooked and well seasoned. It was a solid dish that Lamb lovers would sit well with. All in all a great place with pretty reasonable prices. Excited to come back and try something else. You wouldn't regret trying it.

There were some lunch specials posted but we opted to try three things: mushroom cheese bread, potato pancakes and the blueberry pierogies. The pierogies were definitely handmade and on the larger side as soon as you cut it open, the blueberries rushed out. There was a sweet sugary sauce on the top. That was unexpected. They were served cold and not warm. They were sweet. There were two of us and we each were only able to eat one of the six that came in the order. The mushroom cheese bread was drizzled with ketchup, which was unexpected that cheese was melting and gooey. Our favorite item was definitely the potato pancakes.
