I've been a faithful customer to Passion Nail Spa since they first opened. At first they had such great service; employees had a great attitude and were friendly, including the owner. But as the years have gone by that important factor, customer friendliness has gone down the drain. It's obvious that as women we can paint our own nails and tweeze our own eyebrows but once and a while we'd like to treat ourselves to some perks like the lotion massage included in the manicure/pedicure at passions. It's really disappointing to see such a beautiful salon ruined by one factor which I think should be included in the service since it is pretty expensive anyways. The employees all speak Vietnamese constantly, whether or not they are speaking about the customers, it is VERY rude. So is the need to check to be glued to their cell phones. I don't understand the owners problem either. Every time I see her she has this 'moody attitude' towards me and other customers. Maybe her attitude is the reason why employees have become so oblivious to the fact of their rudeness and unsatisfactory customer service. All the other reviews are correct when speaking of cleanliness. That is not an issue. *Warnings* -Be EXTREMELY careful who does your eyebrows. I learned the hard way. NEVER ever get your eyebrows done by one of the male technicians. They will butcher your eyebrows. I believe the male that butchered my eyebrows name started with an A. He took half of my eyebrow off when I specifically told him NOT to go thin and to follow the shape I already had, just a basic clean up. Noelle, a new technician has the amazing art of shaping eyebrows to perfection to fit your face. She did not disappoint me. She is also awesome for mani and pedis. Another technician who does an excellent job is Thai (sp?, but pronounced that way) and Kim. -Bring CASH for tips. They do not let you pay for service worth $10 or less with Credit/Debit Cards. -Technicians can get pretty annoying speaking Vietnamese loudly the whole time you are there, making your experience less enjoyable. Bring your ipod! -They get very busy on weekends so if you need any service done on the weekend make sure you schedule an appointment and are on-time. read more

HORRIBLE PLACE, WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I purchased a coupon on Living Social for a Gel Nail deal. I called in to make an appointment asking if I could make it later in the week because I was really sick with a cold that day. They told me if I didn't make it that day the coupon would be expired and they wouldn't honor it past that date. So I made an appointment for 4:00 pm that day. When I arrived they asked me to pick out a color and they'd be right with me. 45 min later after watching people walk in and be seen quicker then me I said something to the owner. I mentioned I was really sick and really didn't want to wait much longer. She said If i couldn't wait then I can just go home! When I mentioned she tole me I had to come in today to use my coupon she said she didn't make me come in and got a huge attitude with me. I was FINALLY see by a nice lady however the owner was so rude and nasty talking loudly in her language and complaining about me with other customers! it made the women doing my nails really nervous. She repeatedly apologized for the owner. I asked if I could pay more and get my toes done. She said the owner for what ever reason said not to do anything more with me and refused to provide the extra service. I received a crappy gel manicure and had to repeatedly ask her to clean the polish off my finger tips. I was treated so poorly I was ready to cry. When I went to check out I asked the owner what her deal was and why I wasn't allowed to get a pedi. She started yelling at me to leave her spa saying they fulfilled my coupon and didn't have to allow me to get any additional services. She went on a rant about how she had to honor over 100 people with living social coupons that day and it wasn't her fault I waited until the last min to do mine. I was so shocked and outraged by this women I stormed out. I was immediately followed out by the technician who begged me to come back in to show my coupon number. I told her Over my dead body would I ever step foot in that place again. I showed a man my coupon code upon my arrival. She started crying saying the owner told her if she didn't get the code and my full name she would't pay her for the work she did with me. I wrote the code down and said I wouldn't be going in and left. After the fact I looked them up on here and saw several people has the same experience with that women. She put a deal on Living Social then got pissed off when people used their coupon. If this was meant to attract new business she FAILED. She's a horrible woman with zero customer service skills and business sense and she shouldn't have any interaction with the general public. Not only did this women not get any new business she lost a long time customer. I hope she looses her business and they get someone in their who knows how to act. I moved to Gaithersburg less than a year ago from Bethesda and I have been looking for a local nail salon. I tried a pricier one in the Kentlands (Pro Nails) but I wasn't blown away by the services. I do recommend Aveda in RTC for special occasions. I was looking for a weekly nail salon and found this one. I am definitely going here from now on. I took a friend with me and we were happy with the spa pedicure for $27. The accept Visa/MC but bring cash for tip. They have an ATM but the machine charges a service fee and so does your bank. read more

After moving to Germantown I was on the search for a dependable nail salon in the area. I've tried many and have been happy with this salon so I made it my main salon and have also recommended several of my friends. Much to my dismay it seems that the customer service is really going down hill. They do a good job on your nails but my last few experiences have not been completely satisfying and it's simply because of the lack of customer service. Just expect nice nails... Attitude, attitude, attitude at a very high price! $65 for acrylic with gel polish and it looks like crap! First of all they didn't start the gel at my cuticle so the second I left the salon they looked a week old. The yellow part was rippled and looked bad so the tech - because it was close to the end of the day "fixed" one but not the rest. She was just rushing me out and when I confronted them about charging me too much 4 people came over and stood over me like I was in an interrogation- insisting that I pay $65 of what is clearly stated on the menu as $25 with a $5 up charge. I have to agree with a lot of what other people have said (negatively) about this place. I've been here 3-4 times and have never had what I would call I great experience. Problems: 1 - the techs try to upsell you on things. "No, you want the deluxe pedicure. Your eyebrows need waxing. You sure you don't want a gel set?" None of your business. Don't insult my eyebrows and giggle when I don't want to give you extra money to do them yourself. 2 - the owner/manager lady is frightening. It is clear that she rules this place with an iron fist. She does do a decent job on nails though... 3 - I know I can't understand your language, but I can tell if you are talking about me or not. Not nice. I so happened to look up and the guy (wish I got his name) was spitting mucus into the empty packaging that contains the pedicure supplies. We made eye contact and he looked at me as if there was nothing wrong. He then got up and threw it away and went about the pedicure. I was in shock and wasnt really sure what to do next. Ughhhhh. I was in this shopping center and had some time to kill so I stopped in to get a gel manicure. They did a good job, had a wide variety of new gel colors since the last time I had gone in. You want to make an appointment before just walking in as they will tell you its 10-15 minute wait but really ends up being 20-30 minute wait. My nails lasted a week :/ They did upgrade the salon itself which looks nice but the technicians are always talking and yelling in their language and even on the phone while doing nails. I personally don't like that. I think when you go to get your nails done it should be an enjoyable experience rather than watching the people there rant back and forth. read more

They have a great selection of colors and the staff is very knowledgeable of the latest trends. They do an excellent job with the mani and pedis. They have lasted for at least 3 weeks. Meh.. The nail technician (male) talked me into getting a full set with my old acrylic overlay nails taken off.. I was okay with that because they were breaking anyway. So I got a whole new gel set put on. I asked for an American manicure because it looks more natural than a French manicure with the extra white tip. No problems there. I was getting a gel overlay as well. It was all dried and as soon as I got outside and was driving on 270 (too far to turn around), the manicure began to bump up and get bubbles in it!!! It looked terrible, so I decided to buy own cream colored polish and fix my own manicure!! The price ($40) was okay for nail take off and new set, but the nails shouldn't have messed up that badly. I won't go there again, even if I really need my nails done. The only upside, is that he was a nice technician and complemented me on my outfit I had on that day. read more

I got a full set acrylic done by page on a Wednesday and she was very nice, followed all my request (wanted my nails thin and not bubbly and for them to look real) it is now Thursday of the following week so it has been a week and 3 of my nails are already on the verge of falling off. The guy said it us up to the customer to wear a mask, but places an unmasked person next to a person with a mask then tells the person with the mask to move if they are not comfortable even though they were there before. I am not sure why there are such bad reviews for Passion Nail Spa. I have never experienced bad service when I go to get my mani/pedi. Christina and all the staff are polite and professional. I am now a hugh fan of the gel manicure and get one about every two weeks. Christina has even started picking out my color for me (since I usually go for pink and she thinks I need to be more adventurous). I would recommend making an appointment and still arrive early as they are always busy with walk in's. read more

I actually like the services provided by this salon and its clean.. However, I was in the salon on Friday, Jan 18, 2019 and there was a customer who was describing how she was involved in a job fair helping people who have been impacted by the government shut down. It was awesome and then they were actually reporting about it on the news. Well the ignorate technician working on her said "well at least it will teach those people how to save" She is so stupid and ignorate that I feel like i can no longer support this salon. There are people in a multiude of situations most of which have nothing to do with their inablity to save and its ignorate comments like this that do not allow us to understand suffering. I know a women who lost her husband to cancer and is now raising three children on her own and is working two job to keep bills paid and food on the table. She has no interest in a lesson on how to save. There are people all over the world in horrific situation and need their pay checks..I have family members who go to work everyday and are not getting paid..This is modern day slavery. Its degrading insulting and humiliating. They have been given no choice outside of quitting jobs which they have dedicated over 25 years of service. Hey Technician you know you refer to yourself as having short term memory, you are living in a insensitive and unrealistic bubble and you have no idea what you are talking..You dont know anything about peoples situations about ... close your mouth. read more

I keeeeeeeep trying to like this place but i keep getting disappointed with my experiences. My most recent visit, i called ahead and asked if my sister could get a gel mani and regular pedi and i wanted a gel mani. The woman said yes on the phone, but did not take down my name. So when we went in, there was some confusion, but we were eventually seenwhich was nice because it did seem like they were very busy. I finally sat down and the woman wrapped my nails to remove my old gel mani. My manicurist finally sat down to do my nails but 5 minutes after, manicure was interrupted by another client. So my manicurist went to the other client and left me to another woman who was very sweet and accommodating. It may have been because it was the end of the day, but it felt like she rushed through my gel mani, there werent enough coats so the same day my nails chipped and i couldnt go back in to get them fixed because they closed right after i left. By the second day, 5 of the nails' polish popped off. I did not want to go back in and have them fix it because this is now my 3rd bad experience and i will not be returning. I did not think my gel manicure was worth $40. Despite my bad experiences though. The facility is very clean and relaxing. The staff is nice and offered me wine which was nice. But again i have had too many bad experiences. read more

Not satisfied at all. The first person that started doing my nails was very aggressive and used entirely too much nail glue and ended up more on my fingers than my nails. I mentioned it to the guy and he continued to work on my gel full set. After he started using the powder and it too got all over my fingers, I asked him to stop and requested someone else finish since the shellac (?) was digging into my thumb. He said he needed to file it down and that it wasn't his fault. At no point did he apologize or offer to fix it. The next woman who started working on my nails finished applying the shellac and asked what shape I wanted them. I said straight square and ended up with a square-oval shape even though she confirmed it twice that I wanted them squared. She polished and I commented that she was missing the edges and she made an excuse saying that if she got it on my fingers it would peel off. At no point did she bother to get any of the other nail polish off of my skin on my fingers. Everyone was sloppy and careless. My cuticles bled on a few of my fingers and again - no one acknowledged it or bothered to apologize. I'm very understanding and never review anyone but their complete and total apathy needed to be addressed. Update: was given the total for two gel full sets and it was $126. The justification was that it was $38 to simply put on the full set of nails and then an additional $20 to have gel polish. Plus, $10 to do French tips. If getting terrible service wasn't already an issue, pricing certainly didn't help. read more

Came to salon three times in one week. My gel polish over acrylic nails chipped twice. The first time I came in and they repaired the chipped nail. Three days later, same nail chips again. I assume the polish is bad. Come back to shop for tech to see my nails and explain the polish must be bad because the same polish is chipping again and I request another polish. Charged me $27 for bad polish. I have never chipped gel polish EVER! Manager told me it's a "courtesy"'to repair my nails. I have been coming to this salon for months and they would rather lose a loyal customer for chipped polish. Go somewhere else! read more

Worst Customer Service EVER! I walked in to get my eyebrows done and was told that it would take a few minutes. After I waited a lady came to get me to do my eyebrows and turns out the last time I came in she waxed off half of my left eyebrow by "accident". When I told them that I do not want her to do them im guessing the one in charge comes to me and says "Well if she does eyebrows , then she does eyebrows" in a very rude manor! Very nice location and very clean and bright inside. Came as a walk-in and was taken right away. Huge selection of colors that are neatly organized in a professional looking case. Massage chairs were uncomfortable with the massage running, so kept it off for the rest of my pedi. Great smelling products and loved the callous remover. They offer wine, which I did not partake this time. Nail technician was friendly and did a great job. Will come back again next time I am in the area. read more

I genuinely hate to write a bad review because I don't want to be tagged as a troll, but I gave this place three strikes and I am not going back. Strike one: I asked before beginning for the nail tech to skip the sugar scrub because it irritates my skin. When she began applying the scrub I asked her to stop, and she continued to apply it while seeking translation. Only then did she stop after hesitation, and only after I reiterate "Please stop". The rest of the pedicure went fine, with a good massage. For the manicure, I only like a single coat of pink and gloss for a natural look. I guess she didn't see that I still had paint from a previous manicure (and I wasn't paying attention, but instead was day dreaming about the rest of my day) so she painted over what was there. It was only later in the day that I noticed the blotchy remains of the old stuff under my new coats. I had to take it off, chalked it up to bad communication and thought nothing more of it until.... Strike two: I went back two weeks a later willing to give the place another try, because the price is amazing for such a pleasant space, and I was generally happy with my pedicure. I mentioned the previous snafu, expecting nothing more than an apology (not seeking a freebie) and got nothing. Not even an acknowledgment from the receptionist, Just "pick out a color". Still, I went on and everything went seemingly fine until the next day. For reasons I can't explain, my manicure peeled. In huge chunks. I finished cleaning the rest of it off, not sure what happened or what step was skipped. Still, my pedicure looked particularly great so I went back one more time. Strike three: Went in JUST for a pedicure. That had gone fine and I had been happy with the price and the results. Not only was this one done rather sloppily, but the nail tech sliced a nearly dime-sized piece of my big toe off during callous removal. She apologized profusely, but I had to insist she go get a bandaid while blood dribbled down my foot. I'll be honest, I expected some sort of more formal apology and perhaps an offer of a discount but I was sent on my way. The only upside is she didn't charge the $2 callous removal fee. This is an absoutely beautiful nail salon, clean, and modern which is a super plus for me. However, the owner by the name of Christina really needs to work on customer service, and being a little more friendlier to ALL customers. I'm big on picking up the "vibes" of a place and the "vibe" was unwelcoming and I picked up lots of arrogance. I understand "business is business" but at the same time in order to "keep" all customers no matter what background they come from-- ALL should feel welcome--critical in customer service. I really try to like this place (been several times but always pick up the same vibes) because of the modern vibe but probably will once again take my business elsewhere. Attitude is KEY for me. Christina, please consider taking some type of leadership training/communication class for yourself, and for your team. If you have done this already please consider a refresher course. Leadership starts with "you" as the leader otherwise poor attitude, and pride trickles down to your staff. Sure, you won't hurt because of a few customers who don't return but if this continues you may jeopardize loosing even more customers. Be careful with this place. Mimi, my nail tech, is very dishonest with her service. She up charged me for something that I didn't want. I clearly told her that I didn't want gel polish. She sent me to go wash my hands and I came back and it looked like my nail polish was changed. I asked her if she changed the polish and she said no. Then went ahead and charged me $50 for gel polish. Something I clearly stated I didn't want. The color isn't even what I picked. I wanted to try a new place that as closer to my home. I normally get the dip powder with a tip on it. Even though I told the nail technician that my middle nail was crooked. First she said it was "my nail bed" but the tip was crooked not my actual nail. Then said she would fix it after the powder was on.....it was still crooked. When my nail popped of the literal next day I called and asked if I could come back in. They couldn't fit me in until Monday. Called back Monday to see if they had an early morning because i had to work later. Didn't have availability until later on the afternoon. Came in today to show her that pretty much 90% of my nails had came off and she told me it's a 3day policy and I would have to pay full price since my nails were "wear and tear". I've always gonna my nails done and have had them last for 2-3wks. Not 2-3days. Again she wanted to blame it on my nail bed. As a cosmetologist myself I would know if my nails were in bad shape and wouldn't get them done. Will not be back since that was money wasted for only 3day nails read more

I typically get my nails done by Paige. She's extremely consistent. I can count on her to do a great job. I do however look for great customer service when I spend my money and I would say that management is not always consistent with client customer service. The prices are also astronomical. read more
