I'm newly gluten free and struggling - during a visit with some friends who needed to eat a lot of carbs we came here knowing that they had GF pasta. They said any of the pastas could be modified and offered a few noodle variations which made me really happy, the noodles tasted so good I thought I maybe got gluten'd hahaha but felt fine. Their gluten free noodles are made with rice and corn so it balances out and doesn't feel mushy. Between our group we ordered risotto, pappardelle, and a shrimp pasta which we were all ecstatic with. A bit pricey, but delicious pasta! One of my favorite things to do is go to Italian restaurants in New Haven and this one is one of the best! Their pasta is made from scratch and tastes so fresh. Amazing service, super friendly and very attentive. Decent wine list for bottles but not much Italian wine by the glass. The place is small but quaint. The food was super fresh and delicious. Went to pasta EATaliana on a Friday at 6 PM. The restaurant is very cute, they have a projector playing clips from the New Haven area (and maybe Italy)? But it was quite innocuous and the vibes were good. Not a ton of people from 6-7:30. We ordered two appetizers to go with our bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, the scallops and arancini. The scallops were quite lemon heavy, but overall not bad. I ordered one of the specials, which was the scallops and shrimp pasta. And it was delicious! We ended up getting dessert, which I was blown away by. We all got a separate slice of cake. The limoncello cake was super light and had a great flavor, a good end to the meal. While the name of the restaurant doesn't sound old school, the food is definitely a cut above old school. The restaurant is elegant, crisp and inviting. The pasta perfectly al dente. The service and attention from the staff is the right level between attentive but not hovering. I loved the mix between well known pastas and a few not so well known regional dishes. I had a specialty from Amalfi. A Spaghetti with the most tenter octopus and succulent clams. We enjoyed an exceptional late lunch, unhurried and left to savor each bite. Despite having eaten pizzas at Zuppardi and Frank Pepe earlier in the day, we sat on street side table in the cool air and enjoyed our meal. Zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozz were crispy, light, not greasy. Fresh marinara was nice dipping sauce. Arugula salad very fresh, huge portion that we couldn't finish despite sharing. Finally, the papardelle with porcini and sausage was great: properly al dente homemade pasta, silky cream sauce that was full of mushroom earthiness, and plenty of crumbled sausage. ( almost too decadent? Nah....) We were caught by surprise by $25 corkage fee; miscommunication between our initial server (not main guy) and me. For that fee, I'd have ordered theirs, but didn't see any mention of wine/beer on their online menu ( ummm, Yelp- fix this!). I came here for a quick dinner while visiting New Haven for the first time. I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the michelin level service my friend and I received. We ordered the short rib ziti pasta and the fig spread burrata appetizer. Both were delicious and hit the spot. We loved our visit to Pasta Eataliana! This was our first time visiting the city to attend a concert, and we tried this spot as our pre-concert meal. It's in little Italy and it seems family owned and authentic. The servers were nice, although it seemed there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. The servers maybe could've been a bit more attentive, but they did not take away from our experience. Our sausage and pepper appetizer was great - nice portion size. The lamb chops were amazing. They were cooked to perfection, plenty of chops for the price and plenty of meat. The chicken and risotto were both flavorful and the chicken was cooked perfectly. ABSOLUTELY AWFUL DINING EXPERIENCE. Probably the worse dining experience I have ever have and my boyfriend and I go out to eat A LOT. We went to Pasta Eataliana as a celebration for my sister which was unfortunately soured by the awful service at this restaurant. Even though I made a reservation we were seated at the back of the restaurant by the restrooms and service table (group of Asian people). We put our drinks, appetizers, and entrees all at the same time probably 10 -15 minutes after being sat. 30 minutes past after appetizers are finished and I ask our server to check on our entrees, another 30 minutes has past and I have watched a 6 top and 4 top that were seated AFTER us get their food. This is when I get feed up and ask for a manager who promptly swings by and very quickly apologizes and says he will discount our food. Around an hour and 20 minutes after ordering we finally get our food and dessert. We get pretty much ignored by the manager after he apologized so I ask for the bill from a random server only to find out that he only discounted 10% off the 4 entree items and not the final bill so a measly $10 off a few hundred dollar bill. Ruined our entire evening and will never go or recommend this restaurant again read more

Dollar for dollar, this was the worst dining experience I've ever had. The food was mediocre-to-bad. They brought out everyone's entrees one by one at an excruciatingly slow pace. They completely forgot about my entree until everyone in my party had already finished, and then insisted on bringing it in a to-go box after I told them I no longer wanted it, AND THEN didn't event comp it. I haven't had Italian food this good since I was in Italy! My favorite part is that it came out piping hot. Everything on the menu sounded delicious. The burrata was fresh. The bread was good. The limoncello mascarpone cake is one of the best desserts I've ever had. But the ambiance is...bizarre. We went through the main entrance, which had a nice dining area. Upon checking in with the host, we were led outside to a bizarre building that looked like it was a converted old garage. The walls were covered in fake clovers and it had blaring Spanish(?) music. This odd facility had a sliding glass door and everyone struggled with it, from the servers carrying plates to the puzzled patrons. The food was ok, but nothing on par with Federal Hill in Providence or the North End in Boston. We had the cavatelli with pork ragu (fresh pasta but bland sauce) and veal scallopini (not tender and kinda bland). Not sure if other dishes or restaurants in this area are more promising , but I'd stay on the highway and keep driving read more

Shortly after our food arrived- 1 dinner was totally cold, 1 was lukewarm and the other two were steaming hot. Never saw our waiter again. Asked the runner for the manager because the food was cold and she only brought the food back lukewarm. No manager! Will never return and will not recommend to any of my friends. read more

I purchased a spaghetti carbonara to go. I arrived at the restaurant and waited almost 10 minutes before someone helped me. Afterwards, I waited an additional 10-15 minutes for my order to be brought me. When I got home, I found the carbonara was mostly scrambled eggs with bucatini pasta that was poorly separated. Furthermore, I had to use a fair amount of salt and pepper for the dish to have any flavor. Very disappointed with the whole experience. read more

Super cozy italian restaurant on the corner of Chestnut and Wooster. Parking can be difficult to find on Wooster street, especially on Friday evening/weekends but can be found easily on side streets. First off, the food is amazing! Bread was brought out very promptly after we were seated, and it was fragrant, warm and toasted - delicious with the olive oil and balsamic. We started with the fried zucchini flowers, which were very mozz stick-like with an excellent cheese pull. The pasta was fantastic as well. I ordered the paccheri with fried eggplant and my partner ordered the tagliatelle with ragu. Both were perfectly al dente and the portions were very large. We were able to snag seats without a reservation even though it was a Friday night, with the caveat that we needed to finish dining within an hour to accommodate later reservations. My only issue is that the acoustics are not great. The restaurant was packed and it was extremely loud - I could hear other parties' conversations from across the restaurant but had a hard time hearing my partner right across the table. All in all, impressed by the delicious pasta! I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu, but probably on a quieter weeknight. read more

At 127 Wooster Street in New Haven there is a spectacular, Italian restaurant called Pasta Eataliana Trattoria Napoletana which opened in 2020. It is the perfect place to celebrate your birthday or any other special occasion. The restaurant is intimate, very clean and remodeled in an impressive and stunning way. Jewels our waitress, was the consummate professional. She was warm, welcoming, observant and very attentive. She treats you as if your happiness is her primary goal and you were a special guest in her own home . Today we ordered the Zuppa Di Pesce with, scallops, calamari, mussels, shrimp and clams over linguini. Aside from serving two mussels that obviously did not open, the meal was delicious. We also had the Pappardelle Con Aragosta topped with fresh lobster meat. Unfortunately, my friend said the lobster was overcooked and was not impressed overall with her dish. For an irresistible appetizer, we ordered the Fiori Di Zucca which are fried zucchini flowers stuffed with fresh mozzarella and topped with ricotta cheese. The phenomenal appetizer was absolutely delicious. Omg what a great find . We stopped in Connecticut for some pizza but driving around it was impossible to get anything . The lines were out door , being from NY we couldn't understand that , you want pizza you walk in ask for a couple of slices and walk out but for some odd reason here pizza is a hot commodity.
