Really enjoyed our dinner here! They accept reservations which I love. We were a party of four and started with the bruschetta which was very rich in flavor and fresh. I got the pepe and the pesto mussel. Pepe was so bland, i needed to add salt. I had to recook it myself with garlic, oregano, salt, and more pepper for it to taste good. For the mussel with pistachio pesto, it was good but the mussels were uncleaned. There were stones I kept biting into and seaweed looking stuff on the mussels that were not pulled off. Not sure if they were even cooked all the way. Overall, a bad experience that I don't think I'll give another chance. read more

Never again!!! This was my favourite place until Saturday 9th July evening ! I loved the restaurant because of amazing food and service! But when I decided to show my mom NYC and bring her to my favourite place I have faced with an extremely RUDE and disrespectful stuff! Me and my mom wanted to sit outside at the patio they had available table with good lighting, because inside was extremely dark for her ! Because of her age she can't see anything in that lightning! We asked one server about table outside she was very nice! She told us the table was not ready and we must wait 10-15 minutes, we were ok to wait because they were busy and were not in hurry , But right after guy bartender or server approached us he was extremely stressed out ! He asked us if we need help, I told him we are waiting for table outside and he showed us table near the stairs without good light and I asked him if we can sit at patio and we ok to wait , and he get so upset rolled his eyes and yelled to my mom "MOVE! " she doesn't speak English and she can't see in dark places so she get very scared! That was her first impression about this place! And we just decided to leave ! NEVER order to-go here. I had passed this place before and was excited to try the food but I was screamed at by a man who refused to admit that he made a mistake and gave my order away. I went in to pick up my order and was told that it had already been picked up. When I explained that it must be a mistake, instead of offering to remake the food and send me with the order I paid for, I was verbally berated and told I didn't know the difference between pick up and delivery. He claimed "pickup is when someone picks up the food and delivers it" which is incorrect, that is the definition of delivery. I asked if I could still receive the food I paid for and was again yelled at repeatedly for not ordering correctly even though I had my receipt and proof of ordering open on my phone. I ended up leaving as this man was making a scene over a single bowl of pasta and everyone in the restaurant, including me, was visibly uncomfortable. I'm disappointed because I live within a block of this restaurant and was looking forward to bringing friends/colleagues but I will never be returning to a place run by someone so angry and unwilling to work with their paying customers. read more

I came here with my partner to unwind before going home for the evening. Our waiter was really polite, the food was delicious, and the runners were consistently on top of refilling our waters on top of being very polite as well. However, a different waiter came to give us the bill- and his unprofessionalism is the sole reason for the rating in this review. He came up to us with a card-reader, and after I ran the card, I selected "no tip" as we were going to leave a cash tip instead before leaving. I'm assuming the waiter thought we were not going to tip at all and became visibly irritated, throwing my debit card back at me with such force that it made noise and nearly fell off the table. While my partner and I sat there in shock trying to process what just happened, the same waiter came back and abrasively demanded a tip. Neither my partner nor I had the energy to argue as we had both had a long day, so after she put down some cash, we decided to leave immediately. While we understand leaving a tip is always courteous, it was disappointing to see him resort to such unprofessionalism that quick. He ran to the bathroom, retrieved the bug, showed the staff who then called the owner who explained "oh well. that's what happens there's nothing we can do". Refused to comp our bill despite our obvious dissatisfaction with our experience. My daughter was beside herself, as was I, and the lack of accountability and professionalism was so very upsetting. Will start by saying the food was good but seriously don't let social media fool you there's plenty more capable Italian restaurants to go to. The chefs deserve more stars but saying the service could be better is an absolute understatement. We made a 7:45 reservation for 6 on a Wednesday night and were running late so we got there at 8, we called ahead of time and they held the table so no problems there. We get seated right away and this is where the problems begin. I will say it was unusually busy for a Wednesday but that's no excuse. We don't get menus so we order our drinks within 5 mins of sitting down, after 20 minutes we get food menus. 30 mins go by and no drinks or waiter to order food. Finally we order and we decide to go family style to make everyones life easier... at 9pm we get our first app, before we got our drinks. We were told they ran out of the calamari which is fine but gave us tuna tartare instead of asking for a replacement and half the party doesn't eat raw fish. It took 15-20 mins between apps and finally we get our food and I will say social media brought us here for the cheese wheel pasta and it wasn't the best dish by any means. Our waiter never came by to see how the food was or ask us if we needed anything at any point. We get the check within 2 mins of asking of course and they don't run it, we had to ask them to close us out after 10 mins and at this point it's 10pm and we're one of the last 3 tables , 20% gratuity was added on so maybe that's why he didn't give a fuck but I genuinely don't think I'd go back. read more

I ate pasta at Pasta Eater and I really liked it. A lot of good stuff to choose from here but what really stood out to me was the zucchini caponata -- soft zucchini smothered in a sweet tomato sauce with caramelized onions. This contrasted nicely with the red sauce for the meatballs, which was sharp and savory from the pecorino cheese. For main courses we had the squid ink pasta with cod (quadrotti al nero) which was lemony and al dente, and the lasagna, which was hearty and meaty. All the dishes were delicious, and despite all being tomato sauce based, they all tasted distinct and balanced each other out. I saw some other tables with cheese wheel pastas and seafood dishes, and those looked yummy as well. All in all a tasty meal, with friendly service to boot. Don't let the name fool you! We ordered a mixed seafood grill of polpo, calamari and gamberi. It was awesome! The portion was generous and the texture and temperature of the seafood were perfect! This place was amazing!! We got 3 pasta dishes for dinner here after seeing some of their posts on Instagram. The Gigli Al Pesto was one of my favorite things I've ever eaten and most definitely the best pesto I've had. The pasta Giusto was the main reason we came and it did not disappoint, so creamy and cheesy. At first i thought the serving size might be small, based on the pictures, but 2 pastas would've left us more than full and 3 definitely did, plus left overs. The restaurant was cozy and cute, great ambiance and the staff was very friendly. Definitely will be returning when I'm back in NYC. read more

So I was messaged by the owner and asked to update my review once I tried the lunch special, which I appreciate. Always a good sign to see an owner who's invested in how their restaurant is doing with diners. Unfortunately, things were even worse this time. First though: the service was MUCH better, basically perfect, so lots of improvement there, and the lunch deal is awesome. Huge plate of pasta, totally filling for just $11, not a bad price at all given other lunch options in the area. But that's where the good times end. I got the Gigli Pesto, and as a huge pesto fan I was pretty excited to see what they had on offer. The pasta came out, once again, perfectly cooked. No complaints on the level of doneness, literal perfection. But it was horribly underseasoned. I don't even think they put salt in their pasta water. The pesto was super bland, tasteless, and like...creamy? Somehow? I had a salt shaker next to me and had to use, not kidding, half the bottle just to get the dish up to a point where it was even reasonably well-salted. While the service has improved and the lunch deal is a great value, once again it seems the kitchen still has a long ways to go before it's nailing flavors. The technique is clearly there (as evidenced by the great pasta texture), but the overall balance of flavors is seriously lacking. Want to like this place, but they need to get their seasoning in order! read more

We had a reservation for 8 people to celebrate my sister's birthday. Small selection of wines but so many cocktail options and greatly executed so we were not disappointed there. Here's a review of everything that was worth it and what wasn't: For apps: We tried the bruschetta, caprese, grilled shrimp and the grilled calamari. The bruschetta was perfect- the bread perfectly toasted and not soggy and everything well seasoned. The grilled calamari was my favorite thing on the menu. So tender, fresh and well executed. The grilled shrimp was such a huge portion so it was great for our big group so we could each try a piece, though I loved ths calamari more. Can't say I loved the caprese. It was more on the bland side and lacked salt, maybe balsamic or something else for flavor. Food: The whole reason my sister chose this place is because of the cacio e pepe. We saw a video online of it being served in a wheel AND it's written on the menu that it will be served in a wheel. Imagine her disappointment to see it come out in a regular plate. Very misleading and disappointing, and should honestly just be omitted from the menu or clarified to diners. We tried the ravioli and it was lackluster as well- maybe needed a little salt or spice. My boyfriend had the carbonara which was wayyy tooo salty and almost inedible- not worth it at all. I had the chocolate fettucine which was absolutely perfect! The server recommended it and that dish did not disappoint. It's savory though the chocolate leds that toasty nutty flavor, and it was perfectly seasoned with lemon, mint and the tomato sauce. Also worth trying was the chicken breast dish, the branzino and the mac and cheese. They were the star of the entree portion. Desserts: They were out of the creme brulee and the panna cotta which was disappointing but we tried everything else. The chocolate cake was so moist and rich in flavor. The cheese and pear cake was my personal favorite- very creamy and well made. They also gave us cannolis for the birthday girl so that we could all sing and try dessert with her but nothing else was really worth trying. Got the carbonara and ragu. The pasta were perfectly al dente and very flavorful. However, the carbonara was way over salted. Pecorino and guanciale already carries very high salt content. I decided to go with the Carbonara dinner pasta as it was recommended to me by the waiter. I asked him to please cook the pasta on the softer side and he said since it's all fresh it's already soft. The dish arrived very dry and pasta was undercooked. There was barely any sauce of covering in this dish. I could have boiled pasta at home and put olive oil myself and saved the $19 that they wanted for this dish. It had low flavor, the pa betta was extremely fatty, it's like they saved the better meaty pieces in the kitchen, and it was literally hard to eat this very dry dish.
