There were a group of us who went to Emporio for dinner. It is very popular, so a good idea to make reservations. The restaurant is dark and comfortable. We settled in and ordered some beers. We also got some appetizers, the croquettes and the burrata with prosciutto. Everyone loved them both. The risotto in the croquettes was spot on and the burrata was excellent. They have a variety of pizzas. I think they are about 14", enough for one person (I had my own) but also certainly could be split. I ordered the Diavola Bianca, which had spicy sausage and some honey on top. It was really delicious. I loved the thin crust, cooked just right. The sausage was really spicy, but well balanced with the honey. The mushroom and mortadella pizzas were very popular also. Absolutely worth a visit! read more

Emporio was a frustrating dinner, mostly because the service really derailed the night. We had an 8:45 reservation and weren't seated until around 9:00, which would have been manageable if things had improved from there. Instead, we felt forgotten once we sat down. We didn't get water at first, and we didn't put in our order until 9:31, only after we had to track down our waitress. We ordered the prosciutto and burrata appetizer, I got the branzino, and my friends ordered pastas. The appetizer took about 20 minutes to come out, and when it finally arrived, it was wrong, so it had to be sent back. That meant even more waiting, which felt pretty ridiculous at that point. The atmosphere also didn't help. It was very loud, to the point where it was difficult to hear people at the table. I can appreciate a lively restaurant, but this crossed into uncomfortable. Maybe it was an off night, but between the delayed seating, lack of attentiveness, missing water, incorrect appetizer, and noisy dining room, the experience was hard to enjoy. read more

We came to Emporio around 5 p.m., and it was pretty empty, so we were able to get a nice seat right away. Our waiter was attentive and quickly brought us water and menus. We started with the focaccia and croquettes. The focaccia was really good I think they use the same dough (or something very similar) for their pizza. It came with whipped ricotta and honey, which was my favorite part. The sweetness of the honey paired perfectly with the slight saltiness of the ricotta. The croquettes were also delicious. They were oval-shaped with a crispy, golden exterior, and the inside was filled with hot risotto and gooey melted mozzarella that stretched with every bite. Next, we had the Margherita pizza. It was a thin-crust pizza, but unfortunately the cheese kept sliding off every slice, which made it a little frustrating to eat. Some of the crust was also burnt, so I ended up eating around those parts and dipping the remaining crust into the whipped ricotta and honey, which made it much more enjoyable. Lastly, we ordered the Burrata Ravioli. This was probably my favorite entrée. The ravioli had a delicate, thin pasta that was cooked well, and the creamy cheese filling oozed out with each bite. The mushrooms served alongside it were especially flavorful and complemented the dish nicely. The total came to about $90, which felt reasonable for three people. The ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a cute spot for a mid-range dinner or casual date night. While the pizza was a bit disappointing, the appetizers and ravioli made up for it. read more

We finally made it to Emporio, and overall it was a solid night out. We did not have a reservation, so they let us know upfront we had about an hour and a half to eat. That was more than enough time. We were done with about 20 minutes to spare, and honestly we could have been out even sooner. The one thing that slowed us down was waiting on the check, but even with that we had time to breathe. Staff was friendly throughout. The space is cozy, and by cozy I mean they pack a lot of tables in there. It is tight. There were some noisy kids nearby but they were happy kids, so it was okay. Happy kids are tolerable kids. Now for the food. The pizza was good, but I have to be fair to myself here. I went in expecting that deep smoky char you get from a brick oven, and Emporio is actually a Roman style wood fired pizza. Two different things. That is on me for mixing them up. Once I checked their website and saw what it actually was, I had to recalibrate. For what it is, the pizza was good. A little on the softer side, but tasty. My expectations were just pointed in the wrong direction. The real star of the night was the rigatoni pasta. Wifey's choice, and she was right. Al dente, well seasoned, and honestly it outshined everything else on the table. That one is a must order. The octopus was also excellent. It had that smoky flavor we both love and it delivered. No complaints there at all. And the ginger beer? Potent. You have been warned. If I go back, and I think I will, I am going in with the right expectations this time. Fabuloso! This was our first stop for our Foods of NY Tour with Bert. We watched as they made pizza from scratch with fresh dough, basil, mozzarella, and prosciutto. The pizza was paired with a small glass of red wine and amazing new friends hailing from down under. We also learned that our tour guide has had a Leo (swoon) sighting here in the past. An underrated brunch spot in the heart of soho! Have been here many times and each time I've been greeted with the same amazing food, service and hospitality. Came here for a brunch with a couple of my gfs and it did not disappoint. The back room has a skylight that makes the restaurant light up and feel like you're not in NY (in a good way). Steak and eggs with chimichurri and waffles with blueberry sauce were standout brunch dishes. Their pizzas and pastas are just as amazing! You can't go wrong with anything here. Attended Emporio with a last minute reservation, and it wasn't anything special. I think I saw our server maybe twice, and that was to take our drink and food order. No check backs or smile. My friend and I ordered the prosciutto margarita pizza, mushroom and sausage rigatoni, and roasted squash. The food was great, however, our pasta arrived 10 minutes after the pizza and squash, with no one explaining, or apologizing, for the hold up. If I had to choose one though I would choose the branzino. I'm obsessed with the green and white sauce the chefs made for it. Both dishes were very balanced with the right amount of sauce, veggies, and seafood. The tiramisu espresso martini I had was very cute. But the alcohol was strong. Yes yes yes. The NY strip was the best I've had in the city. The onion glaze sauce and smashed potatoes side is perfection! I don't typically like onions but this is a hint of onion in a sauce over the steak and potatoes. I also enjoyed the tiramisu! It's a very generous portion that could be shared among 3 people! The atmosphere was nice and upscale. I wasn't particularly pleased with the fact the staff wouldn't seat us until our full party was there. However this is a common policy among restaurants. Emporio is consistently phenomenal. The pizzas and pasta are both top notch--everything is fresh, simple, and just really well done. A fantastic spot in SoHo! I went with a very large group, which we split into two parties of 8, but even a week in advance we had no problem getting two reservations for 6pm on a Friday night. They have plenty of space! The atmosphere was moody and sophisticated and the service was fast and efficient. The drinks were a hit - I got the Emporio Gin & Tonic, which was tasty and not too sweet. As for dinner, we split a bunch of pizzas which were excellent. The spicy sopressata was by far the best, so flavorful and not too spicy. This was followed closely by the classic pepperoni - Emporio makes a great pizza sauce! We also got the mushroom pizza and stracciatella de burrata, which were good but were slightly lacking in flavor. Food was delicious, and I could devour the focaccia & ricotta all day! I loved that it was thin crust focaccia. The pappardelle bolognese was delicious as well, great flavor and portion. The Bellini's were yummy and not too sweet and most importantly didn't give me a headache. Lastly, the affogato & gelato was so good! The front of the house was cozy and warm, however the back room had an enormous and gorgeous skylight windows! Overall, the 3 star grade was mostly for the service. Although the food itself was delicious and the wait for the food was short, service was slow. It was a bit slow to be able to place our orders. Unsure if our arrival was during a shift/menu change from brunch to dinner, however we had to mostly be proactive in getting attention of staff versus staff being attentive. I took my girlfriend out to Emporio on a cold Sunday night -- were initially impressed by the restaurant's charm. We ordered the radicchio salad, diavola bianca pizza, and the (recommended by the waitress) pork chop. We loved the salad: it was vibrant and offered a pleasant variety of textures and flavors. Unfortunately, the pizza was a bit unbalanced. The sausage was lacking in flavor; we were overwhelmed by the honey, which combined with the grease from the cheese. I would recommend going with something more classic. The pork chop was definitely disappointing, particularly given the price. It was bland, lacked seasoning and creativity, and the assortment of garnishings atop were unflattering--I sent it back. That said, the waitress and the service overall were exceptional. I would return to Emporio, but think that there are Italian restaurants in New York with comparable price points and better food. . read more

I've been living in Manhattan for the last 10 years and Emporio has become my ALL TIME FAVORITE restaurant in the city. My wife and I frequent this location 2-3 times per month, usually on our sole date night each week and no matter how many times we come, the food always hits, the service is consistently excellent and the experience is spectacular. By now we've tried pretty much everything on the menu and it's refreshing to see that they keep changing up the specials based on seasonal availability of ingredients. We've seen so many delicious additions like lamb loin carpaccio, seared diver scallops, lobster risotto, clam pasta (similar to vongole) and even boar chops. We also noticed certain menu items might get tweaked, for example the crab on the squid ink spaghetti may get switched with shrimp. Or the charred octopus once was switched for jumbo shrimp in garlic and chili. No matter what though, every dish is very well balanced, seasoned perfectly and made with high quality ingredients. I don't have a gluten intolerance, but it's worth noting that this restaurant also offers gluten free pizza and pasta. Appetizers: Our go-to here is the Tuscan Kale salad - now I don't even like kale, but this salad is shredded and dressed in a delicious blend of pistachio pesto you can barely tell it's made of kale and brussels. I taste some acid from either mustard or vinegar and it's finished with pecorino shavings. My wife is obsessed with this dish. We also always get the Charred Octopus which comes with an earthy eggplant puree, made like a hummus and paired with grilled peppers - incredible flavor. I would also recommend the Focaccia & Ricotta, it's simple but tastes super fresh with a nice drizzle of honey. Pasta: The Pappardelle Bolognese is second to none in the city. It is hands down my single favorite dish on the menu. The ragu is made with pork and veal and has a deep richness from the fat that complements the light tomato flavor of the sauce. The Spaghetti Squid Ink is probably my second favorite. It has a really pleasant seafood flavor that gets cut by the acidity of the cherry tomatoes and chili. We eat these two pastas often. Pizza: Emporio's pizzas are absolutely sublime. They have an open kitchen concept with the oven facing the dining room. I don't know how they do it, but you get this perfect light char on the outside of the crust and the bottom is crispy without drying out the toppings. Their dough is rolled out super thin, even thinner than your typical NY slice - and the toppings are generous with a narrow crust. This is a Roman-style pizza and is usually what I prefer vs thick doughy pizzas or even Neapolitans. I'm a sucker for sopressata, so the Spicy Sopressata is an obvious winner for me. They also use a very mild mozzarella that doesn't impart so much cheesiness that it overpowers the ingredients or the sauce. Mains: While not the same as what you would find at a NY steakhouse, the NY Strip Tagliata is a well-executed dish on its own. It comes with roasted garlic and caramelized onion and is sliced for sharing. I demolish this even after crushing apps, pizza and pasta, it's that good. The Branzino Fillet was also nice, but a smaller portion than the steak. Dessert: Finally, I always have room for dessert given my sweet tooth. The Nutella Calzone is a pastry of the gods, just decadent and chocolatey with a chewy dough covering. Meanwhile the Panna Cotta is also excellent if you want to lighter. And the Tiramisu is the best in the city. Generous portion with soaked lady fingers and mouthfuls of mascarpone and cocoa powder. Yes, I have a major sweet tooth. Honorable Mention: I almost exclusively drink Aperol Spritz's when I'm out for dinner (how basic I know). Emporio has a slightly different take on this classic drink. Instead of Aperol, they use Cappalletti, which is also an Italian aperitif but is slightly less sweet/drier, has more of an amber/orange color and an addictive citrus finish. It goes well with all the dishes mentioned above and I had to order my own bottles for home once I found out the name of it! All in all, Emporio is an 11 out of 10. It's the best of the best. I wake up on Mondays looking forward to eating there on the weekend and I dream about gorging on pizza and pasta from my favorite restaurant in NYC. Can't recommend this place enough!!! read more

So we wanted an off the beaten path local place that wasn't your traditional "little Italy" place. This was it! Do not plan on going here if you are looking for chicken parm, lasagna, etc. this is more of a modern twist on rustic Italian. It's dimly lit but each table gets these led light posts that are crazy bright (for seeing menu and eating) but dim enough to not ruin the night. I will say they do seem to run empty fast and you'll see bussers running around exchanging them out. We tried a bunch of apps, couple pastas and pizzas and of course 4 different desserts. As for apps our fav was the focaccia grilled flatbread with rosemary and side of whipped ricotta with honey. Just mix in the honey and it's heaven. Second fav were the croquettes which were simple and perfect. With mozz, tomato and basil. And sprinkle some parm on top. Only downside is you only get two. And they are small. So order two orders. Also had meatballs and the calamari. Meatballs are veal and pork so a little gamier than a traditional meatball. But very good with the sauce. The calamari/shrimp was good but lemon aioli was very good. Almost a little Smokey. They serve bottled tap but you need to ask for ice. They don't offer. I get it, trying to be more European but still, if it's 90 outside.. I don't want a glass of warm water. Just preference. The rigatoni alla norcina was good. Sauce was good. Homemade sausage was spot on. But my noodles were way under cooked. Which was a bummer. Especially with rigatoni...you can't under cooked them and get away with it. From a single, sample taste... the ravioli burrata was wayyyyy better. The forged mushrooms were perfect match. Pizzas were fine. Nothing over the top. When ur brick oven is gas, it's just not the same as wood fired. The shining star of the night, that pushed this place from a 3 to a 4 were the desserts. Affagato geltato was amazing. Comes with a shot of espresso on the side that you pour over it. All you need is a straw to drink up this yumminess. Which leads to the tiramisu. Which was very good and traditional. But we spooned the leftover espresso over it. Omg. The best. The most creative was the Nutella calzone. Thin crust slathered in Nutella , trifold and grilled. Last tried the gelato triple play- pistachio, salted caramel and mascarpone. I'd go back for some apps and dessert. Drink menu is limited. House, draft red wine was good. Slightly chilled and good. Overall, a fun place to try. But walk in not expecting your traditional Italian. read more

Honestly, one of my favorite places in the neighborhood. Not too hard to get a Rez and the ambiance and food is incredible. They also have delicious cocktails! The service can be a little unpredictable but really depends on the day, time& how busy they are. We all know everyone's short staffed so I don't care much either way. Great place to come with the fam, date, girlfriend or even a big group. I saw a few people celebrating their graduations here. Really great sun room vibes with the glass ceiling. We requested to sit in the back where an oven brick was lit up and was a nice equivalent to a fireplace on crisp autumn evening. Enjoyed every bit of the decor from the open glass skylight windows to the green tapestries- it felt warm and romantic. Would give it a 5 star but the dishes were a bit salty. So I stumbled upon this place meeting a couple friends for dinner. The food was pretty good, no complaints. We had the fried squid dish which was good. You can tell they used fresh oil. We had the mushroom pizza with the hen of the woods. Whoever decided to go with that type of mushroom is a genius, so delicious! We shared all of our mains which included the crab dish, branzino and the cacio pepe. Everything was 10/10. The branzino was seared perfectly. The zucchini pesto in the crab dish was a hit and the breadcrumbs was the icing on the cake for texture. The noodles in the cacio pepe were cooked to perfection. My friends love the nutella calzone. The tiramisu was delicious. Their service was 10/10. I'm only giving it 4 stars because there was a constant smell of cigarette smoke that was distracting.
