We love this restaurant, and we had a really nice evening, but something happened with our entrees. We were having a 5 star evening, and it was getting late so I opted not to address it. We were not seated until after 8:00, and it felt like the staff was ready to leave. Our server wanted to rush our entree order in, then we waited..... I noticed that there was only one cook behind the line. Our entrees finally arrived and the Pappardelle and Linguine Puttanesca were not great. The lasagna was excellent, as always, but my pappardelle was not pappardelle. It was sheet pasta torn into squares, and seemed thrown together. No clams in the Puttanesca. We still love Pasta Moon, but if there's an error, just apologize and correct it, don't serve a poorly executed dish. We also ordered a pizza to go and it was. My boyfriend & I had the most amazing time at pasta moon for the first time!! Could not recommend this place enough! The food was delicious, generously portioned & reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. Overall, we left with lots of Togo boxes, full bellies & smiles on our faces. 10/10 We sat at the high top tables near the bar for dinner for my birthday. Aaron, the bartender, made an excellent martini (a sign of a great bartender) & was professional & easy to chat with. For dinner we started with the bone marrow agnolotti it was so delicious & savory. We also split the center cut pork chop stuffed with prosciutto, peaches & grilled onion. I could not recommend this dish enough & it's plenty to split between two people. The pork chop was moist & so flavor full. Aj, our lovely waiter, picked the perfect half bottle of wine to pair with the pork chop. The sides were wonderful also! This is our first visit to Pasta Moon post pandemic. The new place is much larger with an upscale casual atmosphere. The spacious dining room and the live piano playing in the background made our dining experience more pleasant. Our waitress, Maria, very friendly and helpful. We ordered House made sausages pizza, the thin crust pizza topped with just right amount sausage and mushrooms, it's so good we almost wanted to get one home. Grilled lamb chop bedded with fresh funnel, the meat was tender and tasty but the shredded funnel out shine everything, it was crisp and sweet like pears. Later, we were told it was from local farm. Salt spring mussels top with thin cut fries made us to order more bread to clean the sauce. Tagliatelle bolognese pasta tasted so good that my sister couldn't stopped, she claimed it was the best pasta she had for a long time. We asked for the family sharing style so the food all came at once, I think I'll ask to pace the serving speed next time. Overall, the dining experience was exceeds our expectations. We love this restaurant before and now even more. My wife and I agreed we need to make more trips to Half Moon Bay, forget about lobster rolls and go for pasta. read more

We waaay over ordered appetizers (sausage pizza, corn chowder, frito misto and house salad...the corn chowder was the best version of corn soup we have ever had. This is a Michelin recognized restaurant. I was planning a dinner for a bachelorette girls night while staying in Pacifica and wanted to make a drive out to Half Moon Bay. I called earlier in the week to see if outdoor dining was available since everything was just opened back up. To my luck they were and they allowed my reservation for 6 and I had to leave a card number to save it. The staff is very responsive and they're open towards the afternoon. It was Valentine's/Presidents' Day weekend so it was very busy. Even though it was cold, the outdoor dining was beautiful for our fancy dinner. We had no issues when getting seated and there were heaters but it was still a little chilly. They give you a choice of sparkling or still water. We started with the fritto misso (deep fried calamari and vegetables), fried Brussel sprout chips, and PEI mussels. It was all really good, and I got myself a sangria which was also good and pretty strong. As for the main course, we all had a variety of things to order. I asked the waiter what the most popular item is and he said it was the Pasta Moon Lasagna which consisted of layers of pasta, meat, and cheese. Boy it was thick but really good! I also nibbled from the other items, and I enjoyed the Eggplant Parmesan and Butternut & Marscapone Ravioli-- it was on the sweeter end of you're into that. We also got the spaghetti puttanesca (the person that ordered that completely finished their plate!) Other honorable mentions were the Taglietelle Bolognese, Pappardelle Pancetta, and Chicken Fettucine. For dessert we also got Mascarpone Cheesecake and it was REALLY good! All of the flavors and cream oh my it still makes my mouth water. The pastas were all really dense and filling, we had leftovers for days but really enjoyed our meal there. The pop up tent is in the parking lot so there's street parking and another lot across the street. I thought the service was great and the food came out in a timely manner. We picked up on Pasta Moon to supplement our Thanksgiving activities in the Half Moon Bay area. The interior has quite the charming old-school Italian look to it, but with some modern additions like an open kitchen and a bar to the side. Solid Italian with very delicious dishes and on-point service, though there were a few weak points in the meal. Private parking lot with plenty of room, so despite the limited downtown street parking you should be able to find a spot. The weather was remarkably pleasant, so we opted to go for an outdoor dining experience this time around. It was a bit makeshift as the tables were all on the dirt side-paths around the establishment, but a good amount of tables they were able to fit with heat lamps frequently dotted around. Service was extremely hospitable and the place seemed well staffed for the holiday meal. Nothing was amiss in service speed and servers were quite attentive. The premises was kept very clean and well decorated for the occasion to boot. For Thanksgiving the menu was pick-and-choose from a 3 course meal with plenty of drinks options. It did feel like an occasion for a drink, but since somebody had to drive (me) I opted for their Strawberry Nojito and my brother got their Huckleberry Hound cocktail. ==Bread [2.5/5]== It'd be remiss if there wasn't some bread (and olive-oil+vinegar) going around for an Italian restaurant. Unfortanely it was a bit hit/miss on this front. The olive oil / rosemary bread was quite divinely soft, but both it and the baguette were served cold. On top of this the baguette didn't taste all that fresh (being soft and rubbery on the outside a dry on the inside). The olive oil was good quality at least. I know it's a freebie, but it was a bit jarring that our first bite was honestly a bit subpar. ==Primi (soups) [4.5/5]== I opted for their Clam chowder and my brother got their Parsnip soup. All-in-all I was pretty impressed with them. Soups were very smooth and potently flavorsome, especially the parsnip. The clam chowder had quite a nice savory aroma, but not quite thick and chunky enough for New England style, not to mention a distinct lack of crackers for my soup. That all said, the parsnip soup was very well balanced. ==Secondi [4/5]== This was mostly pretty darn good as the thanksgiving sides were remarkably good and the short-rib was pretty much perfect. Moist as heck and falling off the bone in tenderness, perfectly glazed and further complemented by a full array of sides. The string beans were crispy and fresh, mashed potatoes wonderfully creamy and the stuffing delightfully savory with sausage and parmesan. The sweet-potato casserole almost fooled me into thinking they were carrots, but they were almost creamier and definitely more potent in flavor than the mashed taters. I'm not one for cranberry sauce, but the relish struck a nice balance with sour and sweet to complement the meats. Unfortunately the shortcoming is mostly the Turkey I was served (admittedly hard to get right); the carving was more of a skewering with mostly small broken chunks and the turkey was also dry. The gravy helped a bit, but it didn't stick too well and the dryness still remained. ==Dolce [3/5]== Dessert unfortunately left me a bit wanting. My brother opted for the Chocolate Hazelnut Truffle cake and I went with the Pumpkin Pie & Crostata duo. His was infinitely better than mine, and though the hazelnut wasn't quite present the rich and chocolately cake was a lovely finisher to the meal (not to mention a nice crunchy peanut brittle as a bottom). Bit hard to cut the bottom, but it was quite tasty. The pie and crostata were mixed and rather disappointing. The pie filling was pleasant, but not very strongly flavored and could have used a bit more oomph to it. The crostata was not too sweet and did let the natural fruity and nutty flavors shine, but was a bit on the dry side. But their crust fared pretty poorly; I ate the filling as it was nice enough, but I could not bring myself to finish the crusts. The pie's was pasty and the crostata's edge had a bitter taste to it. Overall the meal was still a fun experience, but certain parts of their menu I'm slightly more cautious about (like what their bakery situation is). I have a feeling their pasta would be wonderful though. read more

I have just returned to HMB after a year in Paris. Of course the huge variety of amazing food is a huge attraction....but as the year drew to a close I found myself dreaming of Pasta Moon, and specifically the out-of-this-world Lasagne. Yes, you can find good lasagne throughout Europe, but you can't find Pasta Moon's (at least I couldn't), just confirmed yesterday. The sauce is the best...so fresh and thick and a tiny bit peppery; the pasta itself just right; and the meat...well, If Pasta Moon could just send 30,000 helpings a day to Ukraine, the war would be over in a week...energized soldiers and defecting Russians, once they got a taste of it. Lasagne...sounds ordinary, but it isn't. You have to try it. read more

While main dining room is beautiful, we got stuck seated in their sunroom, with uncomfortable metal chairs, this room has zero ambience and seems to be just an ugly add-on to squeeze in more tables. I definitely filled up way too quickly on the bread alone. The pastas are fresh and have the perfect texture and the flavors are so rich and fulfilling. To our surprise it was open for lunch and just like old times, after making our reservation, we couldn't wait to go. Leonel, our server, was very friendly and attentive. He was right there when we needed anything. The wonderful & tasty Homemade Sausage Pizza and flavorful salads are favorites of ours. Not living too close by, we make a special trip to Pasta Moon whenever we can and then walk along Main Street before and after our meal. It never gets old. read more

After a day of tide pooling, we were hungry. We weren't sure if we were going to find a place to sit down. Yelp said Pasta Moon had dine-in options and they did. They had a lot of seating indoors but they also had a big tent set up out in the parking lot. It was cold out but the tent provided some warmth. Glad I brought a puffy jacket thought. It was still chilly and there was no heater. We were seated immediately but the service was a tad slow. It took a while for them to take our order but the bread came out timely, then the food came out soon after. The bill took a while, and although we said we weren't interested in dessert, another waiter came and handed us dessert menus. After a long wait, another waiter came with the bill but did not take our dessert order. It was confusing. They are known for their homemade pasta. It was cooked al dente. (And you can also request gluten-free pasta and bread.) Everything on the menu sounded delicious. It was difficult to decide. We settled on: Linguini Alaskan Dungeness Crab - looked amazing! My husband said it was delicious with just the right amount of crab, with good flavor. Not just crab meat dumped on top of pasta. I so wanted to try it but I'm allergic to shellfish. He said the carrots in the pasta was a nice touch. Only comment is that the pasta was thin like spaghetti and not thick like linguini. Pappardelle Pancetta - My daughter's order. It is basically a wild mushroom tomato based sauced with bits of pancetta and WIDE lasagna noodles. She doesn't like mushrooms and I have no idea why she ordered it but she said it was really good! She was right! Spaghetti Puttanesca - My son's order. Loaded with clams, mussels and 1 big scallop. Flavor was tangy. Interesting how they didn't provide a spoon especially for this dish, nor was there a bowl for his discarded shells. My son had to use his fingers to eat this. We would've asked for a spoon and a bowl, but by the time the waiter came to check on us, my son was almost done eating. Overall this dish was okay. Pasta Moon Eggplant Parmesan - this isn't your typical eggplant Parmesan. It's not breaded and fried. The waiter said it's a popular dish and delicious. Well... it was overly cheesy and the middle of my dish was not hot. Overall, sadly disappointing. I wish it came with a side of pasta because the richness of the dish needed something to cut with. Stopped by pasta moon while on a business trip and was just amazed. The ambiance is beautiful, the food delicious and the drinks inventive. Parking was very tight but we managed to grab a spot. Highly recommend stopping by the beach before or after dinner. It's less than a five minute drive and views were stunning I started with the bread service and really enjoyed the olive oil and balsamic to dip. Next up was bruschetta. I've had my fair share of bruschetta but this blew me away. Tomatoes were very fresh and the burrata was delicious. For dinner I got the butternut squash ravioli which was incredible. The pastas are house made and the butternut and mascarpone filling made me yearn for cool autumn nights. I dined here Sunday evening as a Father's Day celebration and had a to wait 15 minutes despite having a reservation. The restaurant had plenty of tables still available in the dining area that we had booked but I get that it was a busy night however the food was the worst part of the experience. I centered my search to find a restaurant that had lightly fried and battered squid - from the pictures, it seemed like I had found exactly what I was looking for but the Fritto Misto turned out to be 70% fried onions, a few fried lemon wedges, and maybe 15% each of baby shrimp and squid. For other starters, we ordered the roasted beet salad which wasn't roasted at all, and the portion size was enough for maybe 4 small bites. The sweet corn crab chowder was the best although it was definitely on the sweeter side, almost dessert level sweetness. The salt spring mussels for the apps was equally as disappointing because it had so much sand. Midway through our meal, someone we didn't recognize came to our table and informed us they were still cleaning up the wine and promptly left. We hadn't ordered any wine and was quite confused and later they showed us the cork was pushed through into the bottle. Turns out it was for the table next to us. When the pastas arrived, it just didn't look right. The lasagna sauce usually makes the lasagna and sadly it was quite flavorless. Large shrimp cream pasta was practically just cream, butter and salt. The Papparadelle Pancetta with mushrooms was salty and flavorless, and definitely did not have any pancetta. At this point, we just wanted to leave. Every pasta was disappointing. Then we tried the Puttanesca and turns out it was the worst of them all - each bite had sand in the mussels and clams and tasted off like it had bathed in chemicals. Definitely not fresh. The spaghetti texture was rubbery and and just looked off. All of this turned out to be nearly $300, and one memorable experience that we won't forget. read more

Came here on a weekend for dinner after a short hike around half moon bay coast. We received really nice service there, and got to sit at a table outside with heater too, so not cold. The pork belly with fruit was the most impressive (pasta and pizza were also delicious), and I'd highly recommend to everyone dining here! It had the right amount of crispiness and the fruity addition was so creative and paired really well, adding a bit of refreshingness. The dragon fruit drink had a nice visual too.
