The first time I came to this place a few years ago, I thought the food was great, but the server was a bit snooty. That plus the prices meant I did not visit often. As of today, it would seem that they drop a star every time I come I ordered a chicken Alfredo for take-out today. They cooked it with practically no salt. I'm not a big salt person, but I also did not expect my Alfredo to be so "heart healthy". I doused parmesan all over for it to be SOMEWHAT edible Now the other thing that bug the h*ll out of me was that they told me the check was $17.48. After they swiped my credit card, the slip said $18.00. Is that even legal??? The manager said it was a credit card upcharge, which was not mentioned in writing or in person. WHAT-THE-WHAT? Always my family's go to for Italian food and Pizza! If you can try to make a reservation online or give them a call sometimes it can get a little busy, especially during dinner hours. The bar has excellent drinks. I have to say not one dish has ever disappointed. The seafood plates are always fresh. One of my favorites is the Angel hair with filet of salmon in in an excellent lemon dill sauce! The French bread is delicious and nice and warm. Other family members love the Linguine with shrimp, scallops, calamari, clams and mussels in a zesty fra-diavlo sauce! We love coming here for special occasions, like Mother's Day and Father's Day! Keeping in mind that it was xmas eve and it was busy, this is my review Pasta Primavera is a bit of a institution in Walnut Creek. Like most places in area, it's in a strip mall with parking be it limited. The interiors are nice, clean, if about 20 years old. On most popular evenings and weekends, you can expect a short wait even with a reservation. It was a busy night and we did feel taken care of but not excessively. The food is Italian. It's fine. I have been to italy and it's a few notches short of that. A few specific call outs -Calamari Appetizer is a calamari steak with a butter sauce. This was my favorite thing. -Cesar Salad. Another high feature among yelpers. This was a B. -Mussel appetizer was a main for my wife. It came with a red sauce and she finished it. B+ -Linguini with Clams White version was huge and very light. Very clam forward. B -Beef Ravioli. not very special -Dessert Adffogato, Tiramisu and Chocolate Mousse were all on the table. These were all adequate but not outstanding. The place also has a great full bar which is part of the attraction for many Pricing. The special mains are about $25 a pop with some less expensive options My advice is go and maybe split some things as they are huge and cover more ground. I've been going to Pasta Primavera for almost 20 years. While the quality isn't quite as great as I remember, they still make the best Chicken Saltimbocca I've had anywhere. I used to devour their red sauce--it's not as good as it used to be, but still pretty tasty. One thing that hasn't changed is their incredible batterless calamari. The sauce is amazing, and I love scooping up every last bit with the bread. Despite a few changes, this place remains a solid choice for some delicious dishes! The restaurant is clean, intimate and you can have a shout free conversation with a group of friends. Service is always good although nowadays we prefer takeout. read more

I used to go a lot but hadn't been there since the pandemic. I went recently for a birthday celebration in the separate room they have there. The food was decent - not really special but good. The service was really disappointing. This large group had been reserved for several weeks so they knew we were coming. Still, we had to wait a ridiculous amount of time for our food to come and didn't all come at once - some people at our table had to wait quite a while after others got their food. The waitperson was stressed, never smiled or chatted, and we practically had to beg for more water. I expected better from them. I came here on a Wednesday, not too busy just a casual dinner with a friend. The service was on their A-game, professional and quick with service. They serve warm toasted bread with butter before your main courses arrive. I ordered the cheese tortellini, and my rating for that dish is 8/10. Don't get me wrong, it's delicious with the creamy mushroom peas and ham added on, it was great! I never had stuffed pasta except ravioli but the pasta used in this dish just seem off for me. Overall, I enjoyed the comfort at this restaurant. I will try out other dishes when I come visit again. read more

FIX YOUR RESERVATION SYSTEM or don't offer a reservation. Very deceitful. 2nd time we have made reservations at 6pm for two and the chaos at the front entrance was like it was at the 1st reservations we made last year on a busy holiday. At least five reservations around me at the cramped front entrance were for 6pm and there was nobody (hostess??) at the door to organize the chaos. Servers were whippin around and thru the crowd. 50 couples/families can't have 6pm reservations at the same time. The system is broken. Last year, we waited until 7:30 to be seated for a 6pm reservation. Yes, we waited and finally got a table. Thought we'd give them one more chance this year because the food is good, but its not thAt good. So, we left and drove over to Thai Village in Pleasant Hill and had a wonderful Valentines Day dinner. Don't waste your time on reservations at Pasta Primavera, they have no reservation system, it means nothing. The wait is at least an hour, even WITH reservations. So many great childhood memories here, and the food is still tasty! We used to come here all the times as kids with our grandparents. Now, we come here as adults to pick up something quick for our own kids. Time flies and Pasta Primavera is still here for us after all these years! We typically order spaghetti and meatballs, pesto Gorgonzola with shrimp, and buttered noodles for the kids. So delicious! Salads are always fresh. Love their olive tomato dipping sauce for bread. Be careful with parking - it's a tight area. Although we haven't eaten here (in-person) for years, take out here has never let us down! read more

I should have read the reviews before I went to this restaurant. My husband and I went there to eat for the very first time, and we were lucky to have the infamous 'Eva' as our server. She was very rude like so many reviews said. The amount charged on my card was a few dollars more than the amount on the initial receipt. I didn't say anything since it was not very much. Loved it! It was our first time here last night. We had been looking for a spot in Walnut Creek, but on Friday night everything downtown is booked and crowded! This was perfect- away from the downtown crowds and no long wait for a table. We split the house salad: bed of greens with a delicious light vinaigrette dressing. So good! We had the bruschetta: fresh, garlicky goodness on really good bread. Garlic bread: is really a garlic cheese pizza. The dough is FANTASTIC. No wonder the host said his favorite is the pizza. It's special- you can't get that just anywhere. Chicken Alfredo: Large portion- 2 can easily share one. Lots of chicken. Ask for more broccoli on the chicken Alfredo if you need more greens like me. The sauce is more buttery than the kind I make from scratch at home. It is good. Shrimp Jambalaya: large portion! Spicy saucy goodness. On the way out ask for some Jelly Bellies. They send you out with a little container of jelly beans for the ride home. My favorite part besides the food was the host- tall teenager that must be the sweetest kid in town. Went last night 5/14/23 (Mother's Day) party of 4 - Eva was our l waitress (Eva 456). At the end of our meal this waitress had audacity to write on the bottom of our bill in big letters her own "Gratuity $$". It completely threw us off, so we added the bill up to see where her numbers came from only to discover she gave herself a nice 30% tip, which she calculated for herself on top of the grand total amount which included tax. So when does a party of 4 have a 30% gratuity automatically added onto their bill, and I'm sorry but gratuity is off the amount of food purchased not the food purchased plus tax. We nicely inquired about this to Eva our waitress and she literally had a temper tantrum at my father who asked about this, grabbed the bill out of his hands and disappeared for 10min. Only to return when my father had to ask another waitress what happened to her. Finally she returned with a normal bill, and we tipped accordingly 20% - absolutely not 30% Eva wrote on at the bottom of our bill I mean the nerve of her thinking she so deserved 30% even though she never even asked how our meal was (which just average nothing to write home about) or asked if we even if we wanted drink refills (our drinks all sat empty 3/4 of our meal). What a wacadoodool tipping culture this restaurant is promoting - Eva you totally ruined our entire dining experience. Delicious food and great ambiance. I would say it's a 4 star for the food and 3 star for the service, rounded up because of the amazing Bar Manager (I didn't catch her name, but I can tell she does a lot of the heavy lifting) It has been 7-8 years since my first time here. Not entirely sure why, but this is one of those restaurants where I pass by and think to myself 'I should check that place out again, sometime'. Sometime finally came last Saturday. I came here with my significant other, and arrived at the perfect timing. It was a little before the dinner rush and we were promptly seated at the bar. We snagged the last two open spots, that were next to each other, and an avalanche of patrons came in within the next 10-15 minutes, in 5 minute increments. It appeared that they had a good system where parties of 1-2 were seated at the bar, 2-4 were at the square tables, and larger parties occupied the back room. Being a Yelper has many benefits. Other than the amazing community, the coolest events, and helpful reviews that help you distinguish what to get... there are some places with Yelp Check-In offers that give you discounts or freebies. The current Check-In offer allowed us to get 50% off of the dessert (Tiramisu). I had asked our server, who (and this may have been a weak point in the layout) had our portion of the counter as well as some other tables in the far end. She was rushing in and out, and had told me to ask the owner. I was going to let it go, just because I didn't want to rock the boat. Luckily, the aforementioned Restaurant/Bar Manager (I honestly didn't know her title, but it seemed like the hosts/servers were all turning to her for questions) asked about desserts and gave me an opportunity to present that. My significant other ordered Chicken Cacciatore ($18.95) on linguine, while I ordered the Chicken Saltimbocca ($18.95) over penne. As others have mentioned, the food is made to perfection, but is pretty Americanized. I would say that the classier cousin of Olive Garden, but in a cross between personal and family style sized, as one serving was enough to be satisfied without knocking you into a food coma. The food was fresh and you can taste the ingredients listed from the menu, but it wasn't necessary mind-blowing. Maybe something a good home chef can do with a good online recipe and a respect for fresh ingredients. The Tiramisu ($7.95) ended up being fully comped but the amazing lady that wasn't our server. To be quite honest, the server disappeared between giving us the delicious complementary bread, and the check at the end. It ended up being another runner who brought us the food (which is fine), and the boss lady that helped us. I would say that my water was only refilled once and remained empty for the better part of half the meal. Oh well. I ended up tipping a good 30%, due to the complementary dessert. read more

I really like the food here. My second visit was good I had the linguini with clam sauce (white) it was really good. Last time I had it with the red sauce , I thought it was better. Service is ok. Our waitress must of had a bad day. Desert was good , the coffee was cold. Not a big place which makes it really cozy. Parking might be an issue in the plaza, I had to park on the street. Price is reasonable. 3 soft drinks,, 3 entrees, one appetizer, 2 desert and one coffee ($129). They do add a credit card fee mine was $4.00 plus tip total $157.00 not too bad. Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet etc. We were pleasantly surprised last week to hear a more updated music selection and talked with the staff that indicated there had been a coconscious decision to change it. Placed a take out order here during dinner time and everything was efficient. We ordered a calamari appetizer, mixed seafood pasta, and Chicken Saltimbocca - all the dishes were cooked to perfection. FYI, the mixed seafood is a little spicy. The chicken is tender and moist with lots of flavor. Portion sizes for the dishes are generous. We also got two warm soft rolls on the house that was yummy! Worst experience ever!!!! 3 out of the 4 dishes that we ordered had hair in the food or another object in the food. The server was good about asking to remake the food. The remade food also had hair in it! We noticed the kitchen staff are not asked to wear hair nets not any other gear to make sure the food is prepared in a hygienic way. I never ask to speak to restaurant managers but my children and I felt that this was a unique situation to bring to the managers attention for health reasons. I was told that the manager was not available, yet his office door was open behind the bar and I could see the manager sitting on his/her phone. You would think that me stating that I would post a review of our negative experience would get him/her to take the feedback and try to make amends. There was no amends, only multiple apologies from the server and bus person. We will never return to this restaurant based on this experience. I have eaten here before and never had to deal with this type of health issue nor have I been made to feel like no one cares that we had more than one dish with hair/stuff in our food.
