He also helped my grandma find something on the menu that wouldn't be too carb heavy since she is diabetic. He was pleasant all around, he was patient with my grandma all night and made me feel like he truly valued our time and didn't rush us. He is everything you want in a server-kind,direct,knowledgeable, and dependable. I would come back any time just to get customer service like that. Now on to the food, I had the Fettucine Arrositi which I believe is their signature dish. I have had it before but this time it was especially delicious. The sauce has a flavor like no other pasta I've ever had it's rich but not too rich creamy but not too creamy and the thing that sets it apart from other creamy pastas is the subtle Cajun flavor. It tastes a bit like old bay and Tabasco to me with some other amazing things in it I'm sure but it was delicious 9/10 My grandma likes to order a lot of things for the table because she never got to have that so she ordered a bunch of things for herself to try and for me to finish. We had the meatballs and they were fantastic but she felt they were too big haha 9/10. Then we had the calamari which was my favorite of the appetizers we ordered. I'm hoping next time to try the polenta fries. Then for her main course my grandma had the wedge salad which she loved but she did mention she wished it had lots more bacon and I can't blame because I too always want more bacon on things. I really appreciate how much care they put into my sandwich. With some of the other sandwich shops, the ingredients are not slopped on, and everything looks sloppy when you get your order. The bread was pretty solid too, but not for the faint of carbs... Shall we jump over the salad straight to the dessert? The cookie was quite delish so that I forgot to let my camera take a bite before I took a chunk off and popped that into my mouth. It's got the chewiness, but also a bit of crunch around the edges. But what really surprised me was how good the chickpea / Garbanzo bean salad was! It was light, refreshing and flavorful, I forgot to get a picture. In any case, the whole meal was tasty and the sandwich was hefty so even half was too much at one sitting. Knowing Joe Marty, a former professional baseball player, originally opened his bar here back in 1938 and seeing how they've renovated it without losing that character makes it feel like a really special piece of the city. One of my favorite moments was when my husband ordered a Manhattan and the bartender came over and poured it tableside. It turned into this whole little production and the table next to us immediately ordered one too, which was kind of fun to watch. The food held up just as well. My teen had the spaghetti with marinara and meatballs on the side and finished the entire plate, which says everything. This last time however I switched it up and got the Italian cream soda; which comes in a cool souvenir glass, the cheesy garlic bread for my appetizer, and then for my entrée I got the manager's favorite. It includes any two sauces, so for my sauces I went with the rich meat sauce, as well as the white clam sauce. He told us that the reason the food was taking so long was because of the chicken entrees. Lol. Comical. He said that cooking the chicken 8 minutes or so casued a 75 minute delay. It was a less than ideal experience and the events of the night left a bad taste. My mitzra pasta was absolutely trash and disgusting. O threw it away when I got home after taking one bite. The lack of customer service and ability from both the waitress AND the manager to address our concerns and get us decent food in a timely manner even after expressing our frustration was unfavorable..not sure we will be back after this. The deli in the back is extremely organized and they had signs everywhere with instructions on how to make an order or pickup. For the price, I don't think you can get a better sandwich anywhere else. We ordered a corti special and chicken parm and we'll be stopping by here again to get the same thing on our way back.
