Last night, my husband and I had a wonderful meal at Pastina Rustica Italian. Our waiter, I believe, his name was Phil was great. We had calamari done perfectly. Lightly coated, fried crisp, and very tender. My husband had the pasta marinara with meatballs. They had me at chicken piccata, which was one of the specials of the evening. I was served with a side of pasta, artichoke hearts, and broccolini. We brought half our meals home. Dessert, of course, were cannoli's. Dinner was fabulous, to say the least. Here was my sticking point. I knew the place was pricey by the menu prices, but we deserved it. The price that shocked me was the chicken piccata special. Remember I said special. It was the most expensive at $26. Side salads are $5. A drink my husband had was $13 and was mostly ice. Food, one drink, dessert tax, and tip. $130. This is a five star review! Yesterday I attended a 50th Wedding Anniversary. I was rather apprehensive about Patina's as I heard mixed reviews. I am most happy to say it was an amazing experience. The food was delicious. Meatballs were almost as good as my Grandma's. The staff... they are the asset of this restaurant. Welcoming, happy, bright, working well under the pressure of a large demanding group of people. I met a waitress in the women's bathroom who beyond courteous. I am a believer. Absolutely my favorite restaurant of all time. Italian food is my favorite food but I'm Italian what can I say. My favorite is the three cheese ravioli which is outstanding! Drinks are great. Had my 60th birthday dinner there in February and sitting in front of the fireplace was so nice and cozy. Definitely my go to restaurant. read more

We had a reservation for 7 people at 445 on a Sunday. The restaurant was not busy when we were sat. The food was good and came out right and fast but the service had to be the worst I've ever had! It took literally 45 minutes to get our checks after we asked for them and when we got them they were totally wrong. After about another 30 minutes and more mistakes we finally saw what I'm guessing was a manager trying to help our helpless server! Not a single visit from our server or a manager to our table.....I will definitely not be returning and will spread the word about how horrible our service or lack thereof was!!!!! read more

We visited today on a whim. My sisters suggestion. We had four adults & our little one with us. There was a small wait but we expected that (it's the day & Friday right after Valentine's Day). We weren't told how long the wait would be, but we honestly didn't mind. We asked for a booth because it would've been easier with our toddler. Our buzzer went off about 30mins later and we were seated in the patio area - not in a booth. It was enclosed, of course. Our waitress was very tentative & was able to put our kids food order in first (chicken parmigiana). She came back soon after and we placed the pizza order. She dropped off some bread & dipping sauce. After that, the rest of the party was ready to order. The pizza came out in just a short while - which was awesome. The kids plate came out a little while after. Then our salads & rest of our entrees. The dipping sauce & bread was awesome. Our salads were also delicious, everything was fresh. My husband loved the pizza. Our entrees were very good as well. I loved the house made pastas. I had a large portion of chicken with my piccata. There was very little sauce on the linguine, but I thought maybe it just got soaked up. The noodle portion on both the kids & adult chicken parmigiana dishes were similar. One just had a larger piece of chicken. The spinach ravioli with Italian sausage, was the best I believe. We got some dessert to go. The brownie with gelato, a cannoli & creme brûlée. I didn't get photos because of this. Some were eaten in the car on the way home and others were ate later that night. The cannoli was massive & very tasty. The brownie with gelato was also good. The creme brûlée was amazing but there was such a small amount in the togo container that we were a little disappointed for the price. I do believe the actual food is priced correctly for the quality. The dessert seems to be a little high for the portion size. You can't get anything similar in the area. Our table was looking for more variety with the wine selections, there was only one sweet wine & that was moscato. I had to dock a point because the patio area was simply too cold. The window was next to us, which left our food to be cold as soon as it was served. Our table & others all had their winter coats on while eating dinner. It shouldn't be like that. It should be more comfortable. We couldn't wait to pay our bill and head out so we could warm up. Even our feet were cold. Because Ohio's weather is so unpredictable & cold at the moment, they should have some other barrier on the windows if they wanna use the full patio for seating. Especially with our toddler, patio/window seating wasn't the best. If we would've been seated at a booth as originally requested, we wouldn't have been in the patio area. However, I think most of the families with kiddos were placed in the patio area. I get it, was just disappointed with how cold it truly was in there. read more

My wife and I along with her brother and sister in law celebrated my wife's birthday at Pastina. We love going there because the food is always top notch and the service is always first rate. The four of us split an appetizer of calamari which was really great. We had veal parmigiana, bolognese , butternut squash raviolis, stuffed peppers and arancini . I had the butternut squash raviolis and they were phenomenal. I will order theses again. My wife had the veal parmigiana which was really great. Our guests had the bolognese and the stuffed peppers and arancini which also was excellent. Our waitress, Heather, was very friendly and attentive to our needs, and checked on us from time to time to see if we needed anything. The restaurant is always clean and has a good atmosphere. If you like good Italian food you want to go to Pastina. Sorry for not including any pictures but trust me, all the dishes were plated exquisitely. read more

First of all the sauce that comes with the bread is absolute heaven! I could eat that stuff off a toilet seat. The pasta here is homemade and you can tell. It's a magnet for your sauce. We went with the mushroom pasta and gnocchis with meatballs and a Margherita pizza and zucchini fritz for dinner and apps... mushroom pasta had some sweetness to it which was a lil different from my norm... My husband and I have gone to Pastina a handful of times and we do love it! The atmosphere is great and there is nothing like it in the area. You don't expect it to be this kind of restaurant because it is in a strip mall like building but when you walk in it just captures an Italian restaurant completely. My husband and I have been there for lunch a couple of times and for dinner as well. We love going on Saturday's because the live music is amazing. The last time we went was a man with his guitar and he honestly crushed it! Now in terms of food, they're known for their pasta. It is delicious and full of butter and cream and more deliciousness. My mother in law and sister in law are both gluten free so the fact they offer gluten free pasta makes this one of their favorite restaurants. I was on a diet the last time I went so I got a steak and vegetables. Unfortunately, the steak was overcooked when I originally ordered medium but that didn't stop me from eating every last bit. When my husbands pasta didn't come with the chicken he asked to be on it, they brought him a side of it and the manager graciously took the fee of the chicken off the bill! My wife and I tried to eat at the establishment the other day. We had a not so enjoyable experience the last time we ate at this establishment, both in terms of service and food, so we tried to give it another try. We quickly were seated and noticed the establishment was fairly empty for a 530 dinner. We were seated inside and asked if we could sit on the patio, we were accommodated quickly. After being seated we waited for approximately 10 minutes and were never waited on when we decided to end our evening as a result. No customers in the restaurant to serve and we wondered why no one acknowledged our presence. My wife let the hostess know why we were leaving and she didn't seem to care. I think we know why now why it was empty, nobody goes there anymore, let's see how much longer before they close. Such a shame. read more

So I have never eaten here before, yet know it's owned by the Longo's, and since I love their other restaurants I figured I would give it a try. I called in an order for myself and 6 other co-workers which totaled $175.00. I scheduled it for a 7:45 pm pick up, yet they didn't start making it until I got there and paid for it! Like I was going to not pay or something! On top of having to wait 20 min for them to make the food I ordered 75 min earlier, I used up all of mine and my co-workers lunch time because I had to wait for food to be prepared. Then the chicken was over cooked and dry, like they put a heated weight on the chicken to cook it quicker. Very disappointed in the service and the food, would have thought they would have better food and service at the high prices they are charging. We are full and pleased. The decor was more than we expected with a classy but not stuffy ambiance. The warm earthy hues compliment. The server Sarah was smiling and pleasant and offered suggestions. We wanted fresh homemade pasta and they answered. After a trip to Italy this summer, nothing compares. But for Mentor, Ohio, we got the best restaurant Italian meal since our journey. We had a wood-fired stone oven pizza for starters and then carbonara and chicken Alfredo. Everything was very good and flavorful. To top it off, a few glasses of the house red from Italy. We have eaten here before, as well as their Longo's Pizza restaurants. Yesterday, 11/11 we chose Pastina Rustic Italian for my veteran spouse's dinner. They were AWESOME!!!! Marcus was our server and he and other servers quickly provided our order when ready. Spouse was able to select any entree and salad. Short ribs (his favorite) with gnocchi was a special yesterday. Everything was tender and flavorful with enough to take home for another meal. In addition, we both had their beet and goat cheese salad....fresh beets with a nice portion of goat cheese. The restaurant has a nice ambiance but not too formal or pretentious. We recommend them highly. They are part of our local restaurant rotation. Their pizza crust has a nice chew as well. This place is the real deal. Great flavorful sauces and homemade pasta. What more could you ask for? The chicken alfredo is absolutely outstanding and their ravioli is soooo good! I like to pair the ravioli with their marinara/alfredo cream sauce. It's the best. Caesar salad has such great dressing so that's highly recommended as well. Service is hit or miss sometimes, but the food more than makes up for it. It's hands down the best Italian in Lake County and probably northeast Ohio. If you love red sauce, get your pasta with the sauce they serve with their bread. That one has much more flavor than their traditional red sauce. By far, this is my favorite restaurant. read more

Today my daughter and went at 6 pm for dinner. We were Quickly seated in the dining room and our waitress quickly asked for our drink order. We needed a minute to look over the drink menu . It started downhill after that. It took a while to get drinks and to place our order. We both ordered chicken parm. It arrived at the table Luke warm and soggy. Our over busy waitress never came back to our table until we were way beyond finished with our meal. I mentioned to her I thought we were totally ignored the whole time and that the dinner was really sub par. She wanted to get a manager and pay for our meal and whatever else. Not the point.
