Next day, it's squealing louder than I've ever heard before. Called a few days later, like, "How is my Jeep worse today, than it was when I brought it in?" The explanation WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING, was "You might need a new bearing in one of the pulleys!" This was AFTER the courtesy check they're supposed to do when installing a new part. After I said no to the $2K tires they recommended, no to the oil change, no to transmission and transfer case fluid change the final $1300 bill with a bundled Fuel System Cleaning that I didn't ask for, I now have another problem I didn't have before. I had a flat "run flat" tire so I went to this location to buy "one" tire. Now understand Im driving on a run flat thats flat . But the salesperson wanted to sell me 4 tires to the tune of $1600.00 with the story of it being for my safety and against the law to sell me one tire. He claimed all my tires were too worn which is really ironic as the passenger front tire was just replaced in May . Regardless of that if it was truly a "safety" concern wouldn't I be more "safe" with a new tire as opposed to driving on a flat run flat tire ? Im all done with this company. I went in on 12/11 to only get a tire rotation on my fairly new tires. When I left and got on the highway my pressure warning lights came on. They put 79 PSI in my rear driver side tire and 32 PSI in my rear passenger tire. I immediately went back to the store and they fixed the issue with no apology. I feel I deserved one as my tire had twice the amount of required air and could have popped and caused an accident. Then proceeded to look the tires to sell me two new ones. I declined. I went to Advanced Autoparts purchased a plug kit for $15 and installed it myself. If there was an option to give 0 stars, then that is what I would have done. Where should I begin, so I bought my first car back at the beginning of 2020. Practically brand new all but 15,000 miles on it. I was new to the car industry, cautious and actively learning what would be best and safest for a New England winter. I bought brand new tires for the winter that was approaching because this was around November of 2021. I took them over to Firestone where they had the simplest task of putting on the new tires (which they are apparently known for) and an oil change. As far as I was concerned they looked great, everything felt fine (until it didn't), but there was a small noise coming from the left hand side of the car when I would drive on the highway. I didn't think anything of it until they noise began to grow a little louder, in which I then proceeded to call them a few days after the service to ask what this could be from. They were not concerned and said only to bring it down if there was any particular smell or the noise got louder. The next night, I am driving down route 8 from one job to the next and in the blink of an eye, I end up on the side of the road where I was feet away from colliding with a concrete tunnel. It was a miracle that I landed safely into a grass patch without hitting anyone or anything. However, brand new tire was completely missing, and an entire number of damages were caused to the left side of my car. AAA was called and when they arrived tried to look for the tire but was no where to be found, but on the other side of the highway was a three car collision not far up the road which I strongly believe was caused by my flying tire that was not placed correctly. The door on the driver's side was unable to open, huge dent to the entire left hand side, a ton of damage underneath, and in front of the vehicle. Basically new car, now destroyed, and if it wasn't for my roommate who called them to make sure they remained in office until after close just so we could bring the car back to them in order for them to fix the damage that they ultimately caused, then they were unconcerned and were not going to do anything about it. I was in panic mode for the next week, as they tried to deny me a rental car as well while it was being fixed. If you were even considering stopping by, I would think again. Management is horrible and claimed he was on vacation during all of this when I saw him a day prior, and the staff CLEARLY does not know what they are doing, because they can't seem to even put tires on correctly. Worst experience of my entire life and the reason I struggle to trust anyone with my car to this day. read more

I'm a mechanic. Unfortunately, my winter/secondary vehicle developed a flat. I asked that the two rear be replaced due to being 4wd (not all four because it's my winter beater) and emphatically told the service advisor I wanted my va love stems replaced. I also asked for my air filters to be replaced (I was being lazy) and an oil change. $700.00. Valve stems not changed but I was charged for it. When I questioned the manager, I got a lame excuse that they didn't want to break the tpms. A conscious tech wouldn't break them due to the locking nut is plastic. But, if he had, I specifically asked for them to be changed. Why not make a phone call instead of just charging me and letting me walk out the door, paying for work not done. Now I get the manager was covering for the tech, likely for the company's sake, but don't roll the dice that the person you are spewing bs to doesn't know better. It really makes you look pitiful. Find a trusted private mechanic and pay appropriately. Don't trust the box stores. read more

Absolutely frustrated. I brought my car in on April 25th because I had a nail in my tire ..... simple right ? You would think since you know Firestone specializes in tires..... the kid replaced my tire and broke my TPMS sensor .... again simple right ? Not a big deal they broke it so just warranty it out and replace it ..... well I pulled out with my tire pressure light on .... I drove over 10 miles and it was still on so I bring the car back and they said if it doesn't go off call us tomorrow. We'll Wednesday morning I turn my car on and yay the air pressure light is off but my TPMS light is on ... I bring the car back. The guy decreases the air in the new tire and says drive it another 10 miles if it doesn't go off let us know.... and guess what lol it doesn't go off so I go back on Thursday and they say we will order a new one and call when it comes in .... a week goes by and nobody calls so I at this point I am frustrated and I call corporate.. guess what?! Yip you guessed right .... we get a call with in 10 min of me hanging up the phone and they say oh the parts been in for a week bring your car back. I go back today and they replaced it with a Honda tpms sensor because everyone knows after market tpms don't like to link to my year make and model. I have been very respectful each and every time... corporate told me I can ask for my 60 dollars I paid for labor back. So I walk up to James and respectfully asked about being reimbursed.... it's only 60 dollars but it's not the point it's the principal....James says Corp didn't call me and I've worked here 10 years and never refunded and it corporate wants to refund then call them ...... so I did. Guess what! Yip you got it! It's 9pm and my TPMS light is back on ! All there attitude is unnecessary and uncalled for ! For something I didn't even mess up 4 trips is crazy and now I have to go back a 5th time and if they tell me to drive my car another 10 miles and call them I am going to scream ! My TPMS light has never been on until they broke it ! And again it's not the POINT it's the Principal! Treating a person how you would want to be treated goes a long way. Alls I wanted was my 1 tire to be repaired ..... oh and mind you I just bought all 4 tires with them a month or so ago so it's not like I don't spend money with them. Honestly disgusted with there Customer service because if they at least apologized or at least faked the funk and spoke with out the tenure speech of he's been here for 10 years and he doesn't give refunds maybe I would have been understanding to my 5 probably more trips to them ! read more

Horrible customer service. I brought my wife's vehicle here for a maintenance and oil change. They advised me that she needed new brakes and gave me a price that was overpriced to say the least. I asked them to put the brakes back on and I would take it elsewhere. After they put the brakes on, there was an extremely loud noise which wasn't there before I brought it. I ended up bringing it to another place and they explained to me how poorly they put the brakes and tires back on. They said had I driven the vehicle for another 10 miles, the brakes would have failed and bigger problems would have ensued. I highly recommend you look elsewhere read more

The people here thought I did not know much about cars, so they told me that the wrong sized tires were on my car (when my car can have one of three sizes) and that I needed to replace all four. Keep in mind, I just purchased new tires in March. They quoted me over $1,100. I asked them to put on the spare so I could go to the tire place near my home that I usually go to. We went in for an oil change and was told I had a puncture that could not be patched. This is 1 year old tire. These 4 tires were purchased at Firestone but they could not locate the purchase or the warranty and I didn't have the receipt with me so I had to pay full price for a new tire. Not to mention I had an appt and had to wait nearly an hour to be seen and then waited 2 hrs to complete it all. A family member brought their car as well for an oil change and they too were told they had TWO punctures. This person asked to SEE the tires before the recommended new ones were installed. Turns out there were NO punctures in any of the tires...the technician later said well the tires looked worn. With the threat of being reported, they offered a price of $43 per tire. This place is fraudulent. Do not take your car there. They always have a long list of things your car needs without actually checking!! They constantly say you need air filters and I asked, "are you sure I just changed it last month". The response was " the computer just recommends these items based on mileage". read more

Does anyone ever give an auto repair facility 5 stars? I've been bringing a variety of vehicles here for years. Most of the time I get them back the same day with the problem fixed. I've had a couple times when the replacement part isn't good and they fix it a second time for free. I've had a few times when I've picked up a vehicle and it hasn't cost me anything. Brought my 2019 car to the Stratford, CT Firestone shop for a routine oil change. Upon the conclusion of the oil change I was informed that everyting was in good working order and that I was all set. A few weeks later my check engine light went on. Checked underneath the car and saw some oil residue. Not knowing what was going on, I called AAA to tow the car to the dealer. AAA repairman popped the hood and said that the oil cap wasn't replaced properly and that there was oil all over the engine. The dealer service shop checked the engine and informed me that there was less than one quart of oil remaining in the engine. It was the opinion of both the AAA repairman and the dealership service shop that clearly the mistake was made by the technician performing my recent oil change - Firestone. Not properly securing the oil cap following my oil change had caused this massive damage. I was informed that if I had attempted to drive the car the engine would have seized. After spending over $900 to repair the damage, I brought the receipts to the Firestone repair shop expecting to be compensated in some way for their mistake. The manager, James, informed me that he would see what he could do. After waiting more than 6 weeks I was just informed that Firestone has decided that I wasn't entitled to any sort of reimbursement because I didn't bring my vehicle back to them. I ask you, if a doctor had misdiagnosed a routine injury on your child would you bring your child back to this same doctor? The answer is clearly no. I would avoid the Stratford Firestone shop at all costs. If they can't be trusted to properly replace your oil cap, can they be trusted to perform any other more complicated repairs. Plus if they make a mistake, their policy is that only they will decide if it's true. Good luck having them determine that. Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!! read more

This location is known for their outstanding customer service record and I can say they really work to keep it up as I've been coming here for years (only for tires mind you). They take a great deal of care (I have 3 cars I bring - 2 of which are antiques). I've have seen them do anything they can to slide folks in at the last minute and get work done even if not on schedule. I really believe they care about doing great work and you can tell they take pride in it. I can't speak for for other services but for my tire work, I won't go anywhere else. read more

I'm in town for the 4th and my rental needed an oil change, in fact it still does. I went to Avis earlier today (6/3/19) to see where they brought their cars for an oil change and the guy said firestone but that I couldn't just bring it there. I said well, if I don't, it will easily have another 3500 miles on the old oil and will probably blow up the motor and that I was just trying to do a good thing, so he agreed and chuckled. I checked around 5:30 to see what time they were open until and it was 7, so I left where I was and arrived at Firestone about 6:08 or so. They said they were about to close, not according to google, and they usually need an appointment unless it was an emergency. I pointed out that it kind of was, so we went in and he made a call to someone, but another man came out from a hidden room to tell me they don't normally allow customers to bring the vehicles in for oil changes. I said I am just trying to do the right thing so their engine doesn't blow up, and he shut up. So they both walk away and I notice there is only one tech out in the garage, nice scheduling btw, when the first guy I spoke to with a goatee and salt and pepper hair came and kind of "assedly" asks me "do you need something?" I said just an oil change, so he says "well it's gonna take about 45-60 mins, we're not like a quick oil change place". Then why ARE you like? I have worked at a few places changing oil when I was younger, and it took like 20 mins, ESPECIALLY with no customers and at the end of the day. I just said I'm gonna hold off and he grabbed the repair order plastic holder thing, grabbed the key and almost flung it at me. Which brings me to my review. I KNOW it's the end of the day, I KNOW they aren't obligated to help me, but c'mon, I'm having to pay for an apparent $73 oil change, with my OWN money, HOPEFULLY getting reimbursed by Avis later on, I just wanted to be treated better for being a good person and trying to help out Avis. No good deed goes unpunished, and Firestone definitely was more of a punishment than a pleasant experience. If you want to overpay for an oil change and take a long time out of your day for no reason, go to firestone in Stratford CT. Excellent customer service is truly dead. read more

Brought my F-350 in to fix the ball joints. I confirmed with them over the phone that they could do this and the weight of my truck would not be an issue. Had my truck towed there where I presumed they were working on it. Got a call over a week later saying they put it up on the alignment rack but lost my key and couldn't get it off the rack. Ok, understandable accident. They made a new key, but then called me 2 days later and told me they couldn't work on it because it was too heavy. At this point they had had my truck for almost 2 weeks and had managed to do nothing but lose the key and break my drivers side door handle in the process. They refused to give me any kind of compensation or fix the door handle and then they made me pay an inspection fee for the truck that they weren't even able to look at. Couldn't get my keys back without paying. If I got a flat in front of Firestone, I would pay to get my car towed somewhere else rather than go back here again. read more

After spending a frustrating afternoon at the Milford, CT Firestone only for them to tell me I'd need a new tire and they didn't have it in stock, I decided to drive over to Stratford Firestone and they had me back on the road in just over 30 minutes. No comparison! Their service is much more efficient at this location. I got my tires less than six months ago from this location and luckily purchased the protection plan (I picked up a nail in the tire - it wasn't defective otherwise), so the replacement was inexpensive as well. I was pleased with their friendly customer service, affordable fees, and the minimal time it took for my tire repair. read more

To make a long story short, I was driving down to Stamford, CT when my car broke down and i had it towed to Firestone to get a new alternator installed in the AM. I'm no car expert at all (only thing I've ever replaced is a battery & air filter) but, I figured replacing an alternator is a relatively easy job. We'll fast forward to the next day and I'll say Firestone is a complete rip off. First, I was told "the part" cost $289 which I knew was ridiculous I went to advance auto the next day and they looked up the part for my truck which was only $160 brand new or $130 reconditioned. To add insult to injury they told me their (Firestone) labor cost was $82 an hour. Who in America makes $82 an hour on anything these days? My regular mechanic back home charges $60 an hour. but since I was over an hour away from home I was in a tough spot and didn't want to go to a mom & pop auto shop so, grand total I was ripped off for $389 for an alternator. I'll make sure to put it on myself the next time. But, just so everyone knows this company is only looking to rip you off so I'd steer clear of this place! Also, since I've got it done my car runs awful and I'm bringing it to my mechanic in a few days (they couldn't pay me to bring it back to a Firestone) not to mention they called me 4x's in the 15 minutes it took to replace it while I was having lunch down the road to tell me everything under the sun was wrong with my car. I rarely post here on yelp... but today I have to. This is a great place! I was working on a buddy's car and we had an issue with a frozen bolt stuck in a caliper. Brought it over and a guy there was able to free the bolt in minutest. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone who's looking for work on their car!! I got new brakes installed on my car here. I found a coupon online for $99 per axle for new brake pads (with a lifetime warranty), rotor cutting, and installation. Pretty good deal. They were really quick -- might have been even quicker if I told them I was waiting, but I had a ride -- and very friendly.
