My son wanted a backyard party for his college graduation so I searched my West Islip FB page for recommendations. A couple of people recommended this place so I figured I head over there to try out the food first before placing a big order. Not only was the place packed - it was packed with guys I could tell knew good Italian food. Finally I get to the counter and tell the guy what I'm looking to do. He is so busy he tells one of the kids to just give me a big box of fresh manicotti and sauce for free (good sign) and tells me to come back tomorrow and he will make up some more variety. Short story long, I ate the pasta and it was so good I placed the big order right away. Everything else was just as delicious and they didn't break my shoes when I had to make changes to the order. Delicious fresh food every time. They have the best fresh mozzarella.. it's always warm and recently made. The taste is amazing. I love that fresh pasta is available in an assorted shapes. Amazing fresh ravioli. Full cold/hot counter display with olives and fresh pre-made foods. Fresh breads. Also a large freezer with ravioli, shells, manicotti. Marvelous family owned Italian store ,offering amazing ravioli , manicotti , stuffed shells and much , much more! Today my daughter and I were in the Deer Park area and decided to stop in and get their outrageously scrumptious fresh mozzarella! I have been here a few times before and have never been disappointed! I have had the manicotti for the holidays and they are always super fresh and creamy !The owner is so friendly and told us that they will be celebrating their 50 year Anniversary! You have to make quality foods and be dedicated to remain in business for so many years ! Everything is so inviting! Don't go in the store when you are hungry because it will be hard to restrain yourself from buying everything! So of course I also bought some of their home made fettuccine !Used it for dinner and made a quick fresh shrimp sauce ! The pasta was perfect just cooked it a few mins to keep it al dente! My family and I have been going to this establishment for my whole life, my mom and I moved away to two different towns and we still make the trek. I had the prosciutto bread around November and it tastes horrible! Just went back today hoping that it was a one time fluke. Afraid not! The bread is not moist, barely any meats and cheese and has just a downright horrible taste. I don't know if they switched manufacturers but they need to go back to the original prosciutto bread. I've always been a fan of Pastosa and I have even recommended it to people for sandwiches but I was so disappointed today after going in their and ordering my meal. I paid $11 for a mini hero bread with cold cuts which isn't a bad price because it's usually made so well. Today, I was given 3 slices of meat and 1 slice of cheese on my sandwich. The place was empty so it's not even like the girl who made it was in a rush. Super disappointing- felt like I was just eating bread. Holy Italian Mama! Their ravioli is bangin'! Note: I specify... Their RAVIOLI. Their ravioli totally deserves 5 stars. Their homemade-mozzarella-made-fresh-and -onsite-2-to-3-times-a-day... Umm, not so much. THAT deserves about 1 or 2 stars. I mentioned it was my first time trying Pastosa and received the mozzarella on the house, which was super sweet of the owner, but I would have been really upset if I had to pay for the dry consistency and unsalty blandness of their cheese. Anywayyy - in all my foodiness, I honestly never thought there could be gradations of ravioli. I knew there were different combinations of cheeses, meats, and vegetables that were placed inside, but I believed that was the extent of variation. Pastosa certainly proved me wrong! Their ravioli's consistency and texture remained "al dente" and never got soggy, while the stuffing was plump, smooth and rich with a ton of flavor. But the actual pasta's texture - geez - yummmmerz (I am clearly a "texture eater")... I can't get over it! This time, I tried their sun-dried tomato ravioli, but I'll pick up their pumpkin kind soon and create a brown sugar, butter, and sage drizzle for it. Other kinds that I happened to see included crab, vegetable, plain cheese, butternut squash, and some kind of meat. Fair warning: it can be a bit pricey. 12 ravioli circles come in a box and costs $7.99. Though each ravioli circle is pretty hefty in itself, you may want to consider buying an extra box for anyone who won't be able to resist having another serving! read more

I have been going here for years. After ordering food for my daughters sweet sixteen party. I was very disappointed. The whole transaction was about them charging me as much as they possible could. They refused to break up full trays into half trays with out charging me for them. I ordered many full trays but I needed the space for serving purposes. If I ordered just 1 half tray I understand. That was it the case. $1200 worth of food you would think they could spare a couple extra tin foil trays. Just very very dissatisfied how I was treated. My parents catered our Palm Sunday dinner from Pastosa. When my dad arrived home with the food, it was ice cold. So we had to wait 30-40 minutes to have dinner because we had to put the food in the oven to warm up. Not a major deal, just a slight inconvenience. We ordered penne vodka, and meatballs. The penne vodka was delicious! Really creamy and flavorful. The meatballs... were absolutely disgusting. They tasted like spoiled fish!! They even smelled like fish. Something was really off with them. My entire family said they were horrible. I've never had worse meatballs in my life. So an entire tray of meatballs when into the garbage! If i could give this place zero stars, i would. The owners are extremely rude to not only their employees but also their customers. I have been there multiple times and i see the way the bosses treat and speak to their employees. They constantly are talking down to them and belittling them. They are also extremely overpriced, and they charged $60 for a 40 pack of water. If you complain about being unsatisfied with their food, they make you feel like it was your own fault. When i was there the other day i saw a RAT! It probably got in because they have yet to repair their store front. I've been buying Pastosa products for years now. I went to this specific store for the first time in Summer 2016 then again in November 2016 and had issues both times. Both times I got manicotti. The first time the cheese was a little, well, not so smooth. It tasted ok, though. I thought it was because I bought it fresh and then froze it. (I've since heard that isn't so). In November, however, I bought three boxes of the manicotti for a birthday dinner and Alfredo sauce for another time. Not only was there what appeared to be MOLD on some of the crepes in one box, but in the manicotti from the other boxes (which I cooked), the filling was almost sour. It was really embarrassing to have guests eating something that tasted like it was about to go bad. THEN I went to heat the Alfredo sauce a few days later and there was HAM in it!!! There are NO ingredients on the container and I have yet to find any recipe online that shows ham IN Alfredo sauce. I've been vegetarian for 24 years, so this did not sit well with me I contacted the headquarters in Brooklyn and received excellent customer service from Jacqueline F. She offered to either get me a credit from the Babylon store or send me fresh replacement products from the Brooklyn location. I chose the second option and was very satisfied. No sour cheese, NO HAM and immediate shipping. I will definitely order from the online store from now on. Not only have I never had a problem with the products from their location (Babylon makes their own) but the customer service was WAY better and I appreciate the way my problem was handled. Spend the extra $13 and have the food shipped from the online store, you'll get better customer service and the food is much fresher!! read more

The Worst ravioli we ever brought for the first time going there on Nov 9, 2014. We took the trip because of their name for their well-known fresh tasting ravioli around, nonetheless, it was a half hour drive!!! Cant believe we purchased two 18 pack of "fresh" ravioli to go that had sour fillings after we cooked them. Very Disappointed in the product. Talked to the manager the same day and told us that they might of not been rotated properly and got the bad patch. Are you kidding me!!! We wanted a complete refund but were denied our money back. Don't order prepared food.....We have been primarily going to Pastosa for cold cuts and Raviolis which are okay. Last Christmas we ordered trays of food. Our full trays of baked ziti was sour the next day and we never addressed it with Pastosa thinking it just went bad somehow. This Thanksgiving we ordered Penne Alla Vodka on Wednesday morning before Thanksgiving and picked it up Wednesday night when it was ready for the next day. We refrigerated the tray right away. However when we had it the next day for Thanksgiving it was sour and we felt so embarrassed because we had taken that tray of food to my in laws for Thanksgiving dinner. Everyone said it was sour as if it had vinegar in it and didn't taste right. We had to throw away the entire tray. I called up Pastosa to let them know and they claimed to offer no sympathy or regret to make up for it but instead said it never happens, that they make everything fresh and they get no complaints from their customers. We will never order from them... they give you no acknowledgment for their bad food and instead tell u that they did it right even though u had to deal with the bad experience. read more

A home-town favorite. I come here for all my Italian needs. The owner is so friendly and always remembers regulars, making you feel welcomed when you walk in. The fresh mozzarella is milky (never dry) and salty. Come in the morning and it's still warm. The meats are great quality as are the frozen, house made sauces.
