Just had my first pastrami sandwich from Pastrami Plus. It was the best Pastrmi I have had since I was a kid in Forest Hills, Queens, They did an awesome job with the homemade knish as well. The rugalach was incredible. I'll be back. Nice customer service and a cute environment if you want to eat there - I particularly enjoyed seeing the old fashioned seltzer bottle on display - the kind my dad used to have delivered. Cute pics of "I Love Lucy" and Brooklyn Dodgers. However, I took out....the way that they packed the food there shows they care and have this whole takeout business/sandwich thing down to a science. They just really know what they're doing. This is what they do and they DO IT. It took longer than I would've thought to get the sandwich, but I'm really happy, I mean perfectly willing to wait, for the kind of meal I just had. I placed an order through grubhub on Sunday. The order was accepted. I received a notice that the food (a $50 order) would be delivered between 7:30 - 7:40. I allowed a bit more time, but the food never arrived. I made numerous attempts to contact Pastrami Plus, because according to the grubhub site the restaurant was responsible for the delivery. No one answered the phone. Eventually I contacted grubhub directly after 8:30. Grubhub also attempted to contact the restaurant after verifying that they had accepted and confirmed the order. No luck. Grubhub did agree to cancel the charge. If Pastrami Plus took the order, and if there was some sort of problem delivering it, then they should have contacted me, or Grubhub. I was expecting to eat dinner around 7:45. Instead I had to go without, since I had nothing quick to prepare and it was too late to bother placing an order elsewhere. I have no idea how good or bad the food is, and will not order from them again! read more

Delicious pastrami sandwich , probably one of the best on Long Island. Tasty pickles and the people are all very friendly. Definitely worth checking out. Just returned for the 3rd time. Just ate there and will likely not be back. The food was traditional and tasty but I am used to a sandwich with 50-75% more meat. Coleslaw and half sour were spot on. My issue was with the check- they tacked on a "service charge." Now I am not sure if it's because I charged it or if they add 4% to every bill but this wasn't posted and when they charge $2 for a can of soda they don't need to add hidden fees. I didn't argue, I just adjusted the tip ( severely). read more

Disappointing. Dry turkey that smelled like yesterday's meat on good rye bread. Knishes were over microwaved and tasting of old oil. Would've retuned it if I hadn't taken it to go. Good pastrami on Long Island? yep. This is the real deal. Not quite as the old Pastrami King in Queens but far and away the best pastrami on the Island. Much more flavor than Ben's, a solid sandwich is made here. The meat is piled high on rye or roll. It is not too lean (though when requested they do cut a good extra lean sandwich) but has just enough fat to keep it moist and tasty. They have good dinner specials as well but when I am going there it is for the combo sandwich. People who work there are especially nice. read more

I Loved this place!! I was about to head over to bens and thought to do a yelp search to find a closer one! And glad I did. I called my order in and arrived 20 minutes later to pic it up!! Nope. Just too hit or miss. Neighborhood dive place (I usually like that) small crappy sized sandwich. Pastrami is sometimes top notch, sometimes dry and crappy. If you tell the owner he just gets an attitude. It is not inexpensive, but the sandwich requires extra meat or it is wimpy. That is just not how a Jewish style deli should be. Soup is OK. Hot dogs OK. Deserts tried twice over the months both time sitting in a fridge forever and awful. I really want to like this place but the lack of cleanliness, hit and miss food, and on and off again crappy disposition of the staff make it well worth going to Merick for Pastrami King. As I look over my review I see it got 2 stars and 3 crappys. Sums it up well. Marginal meal and value with a staff that is doing you a favor. read more

Just ordered food from here due to yelp high rating all a lie. They are overpriced I Ave a small sandwich I paid $15 for! I ordered corn beef and they gave pastrami, the pastrami is way too over seasoned. My boyfriend got the cheeseburger and it was cold and dry. This place is greatt I have been in the neighborhood for thirty years and always past this place. Today I went on fb to get recommendations for a great turkey sandwich they gave me this place. I orders a pastrami sandwich and matzo ball soup and of coarse the turkey. I am jewish and this is by far the best matzo ball soup I ever had and the pastrami sandwich was also the best I ever had. If you're looking for your run-of-the-mill, hole-in-the-wall Jewish deli/Pastrami joint that just happens to be run by Egyptians, well, then this is your palce. Food is pretty amazing (hey, it's on par with the type of place it is. If you want 5-star, then drive up to Greenvale or Plainview and fork out your money at Ben's). It's not Kosher, rather Kosher-style. Still pretty excellent though. I just wish it wasn't such a pain in the ass to get to though. I can get good pastrami anywhere at any deli pretty much. It's not that hard to assemble my own tasty sandwich. But what makes me come back time and time again to pastrami plus is the Peirogies! It's hard to find a tasty Pierogie(unless you want to travel all the way to Manhattan to go to Veselka) but this place makes a darn good one. Boiled or deep fried I love them both. I also love their corn beef sandwiches and brisket sandwiches. They do have a good pastrami sandwich as well. But Its not what keeps me coming back. The food here is usually pretty good. The reason for the 1 star rating is because I don't like being ripped off. I came in with a friend of mine and we ordered sandwiches. I ordered turkey with chopped liver and I told the girl I wanted the chopped liver on the side. It was a very small amount of chopped liver. I asked for the check and realized the girl charged me for 2 sandwiches. A dumpy place in Levittown should not be charging $24 for a sandwich. When brought it to the waitresses attention she didn't want to fix the error. No tip for her. Stay away this place is dirty and filthy. read more

I've gotten food from them twice and both times I liked it for the most part. Most recently I ordered the fried kreplah which is why I give this review four stars because it was delicious! The serving size was quite big and it came with onions on top. The menu says gravy but I didn't see any the kreplah was good without it tho. The stuffed cabbage was disappointing. For $8 it was just one piece in so much sauce that when I dried to dig into it it all fell apart and became like soup. The potato knish was ok..too salty for my taste. As far as I can remember their sandwiches were good and large. This place is kind of pricey but when my cravings strike for the home made taste this is the only place in the area for us to order kosher style food. read more

I went with my wife recently to pastrami plus for lunch. This place is a plain looking deli type of restaurant.We ordered a pastrami/corned beef platter and a tongue sandwich with sides.The meat was quite good in fact the pastrami was superb among the best I haver ever had.However the sides were very ordinary and the gravy was terrible.We were charged a dollar extra for fried onions which I felt was unwarranted.Service was good and was responsive and the owner was friendly.The price to value ratio here is slightly above average for this type of restaurant. Considering the experience it may be better to order meat to take out. read more

Ordered through Grub Hub, took 2 hours. Soup was cold (and no taste), potato pancakes cold, French fries soggy. When we called an hour in they said they were waiting to deliver upon closing. Ate there for the first time after reading the review. Good pastrami sandwich and comes with a nice bunch of pickles. The deli mustard is good and spicy to really make the sandwich sing! Had some sides also. The Kreplach was very tasty but a little oily from the frying, the sauteed onions on top were good and I liked the gravy it came with (on the side). Matzah ball soup was a little bland but some salt fixed that right up. The stuffed cabbage was in a way too sweet sauce and not worth it. All in all a good sandwich for the money...I will definitely go back. Next time I'm gonna go for the tongue sandwich and potato pancakes-which looked really good! read more

make sure you ask for a receipt when you use your credit card, if you're not paying attention, they will not give you a receipt because the amount on the cash register is different from your credit card receipt. I realized it when I got home. They charge an extra $1.95 using your credit card, and without even telling you. Never again, I will patronize this neighborhood shop because of their dishonesty. read more

I see my last Yelp review is no longer here so I will write another one. As someone else wrote, it could be hit or miss. Last night was a hit. Ordered take out of mushroom barley soup, corned beef, home made potato knish (as opposed to the square one they also have that is not home made), cole slaw and a stuffed cabbage and all was delicious. At other times, I had to throw out the stuffed cabbage (rancid) but they did replace it next time I was there. I think the prices are expensive $22 lb for corned beef or $10 a sandwich. $4 a pint for soup is reasonable but a grilled cheese sandwich for $7 - come on ? read more
