Six pack plus 1 Large Chicken with chicken gravy .

Stopped by just before closing for the six pack chicken pasty deliciousness with gravy. Both gravy's are equally delicious however this trip I had the white gravy . I added a large pasty to my order and it is indeed large . Although at closing time , the food was fresh as if just baked . Actually removed directly out of the oven . The ambience is great and service is always quick.

6 pack of chicken and beef meat pies

I first found this spot when I lived in the area, and now I make it a point to stop by anytime I'm nearby because I genuinely miss it. It's a small, no-frills to-go shop in Los Alamitos that absolutely delivers when it comes to comfort food. The meat pies are the highlight -- you can't go wrong with either the chicken or the beef. They're hearty, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying. And if you're getting a meat pie, definitely order it with the gravy. It takes everything up a notch and really complements the flavors. They also have a great selection of pastries that are just as impressive. The staff has changed over the years, but they're generally friendly and keep things moving efficiently. Overall, it's a simple spot that does what it does very well -- and that's exactly why I keep coming back.

First time here it is a nice little place at a corner parking in the back is easy for a small vehicle. Food: they are like a little pot pie stuffed with meat potatoes and vegetables crust is not heavy a nice little meal, make sure to order gravy to pour over delish. The dessert is awesome specially the pies apple was bomb. Service: real good and fast as it got crowded Ambiance: not much as the place is really small inside but nice seating outside around the corner Absolutely will be back

Apple Turnover (1/5, but I don't like spiced apples)

Full disclosure, I am only reviewing dessert not the meat pies. We already had lunch so we were just looking for a way to cap off a meal. Banana Pudding (4/5 - good flavor but needs more banana in it). Peach Turnover (3.5/5 - nice peaches). Cherry Turnover (3/5 - good texture but lacking cherry flavor). Apple Turnover (1/5 - spiced apple is not for me). Peanut Butter Cookie (4/5 - soft and good texture in the middle with a nice crunch on the edges). The turnovers would be much better if they were hot (or at least warm). I'm going to try our leftovers tonight, heat them up and add some ice cream. Maybe you need to heat them. If so, they should have recommended it. Service was just ok and they forgot one of my items so we had to go back. I'm being generous with 4/5 but I want to come back for the meat pies.

I stopped by Pasty Pantry around 11:45 a.m. on a Tuesday, and the place was quiet. It is a true pickup only spot. You walk in, order at the counter, and head right back out. Parking is easy with a 24 minute green zone out front and a little parking in the back. I ordered a large beef pasty with a large gravy and a peach turnover. The gravy was the highlight for me. Rich, flavorful, and the part of the meal I would actually recommend. The pasty itself was basic. Not bad, just very straightforward. Same with the peach turnover. It was sweet, but it was missing the warm spices that usually give it a little depth. Overall the food felt more on the plain side, which could be perfect for someone with a simpler palate or someone who likes kid friendly seasoning. Service was quick and friendly, and the spot is convenient if you need something warm in a hurry. For me, it was a one time visit. The gravy was great, but the rest did not land on my must return list.

While at a basketball tournament in Cerritos with my daughter time aloud for me to drive 5 miles south and go down memory lane. In the past, it was only beef and chicken and maybe turkey, today they offered chorizo as well as sausage and pepper. I opted for the sausage and pepper and boy was I treated. It was delicious . This place, never disappoints, thank you. I'm glad I picked up an extra couple for later on today or tomorrow

It's hard for me to give this place a low review I've been going here since the 90s , it seems like since my lunch break is after 2pm they are giving me old pasty's. Never had an issue before since I found out new ownership. I have them 3 tries now I'm out !!! It was awesome while it lasted but my food was horrible old and the meat is pink . It's saugy old pasty. Inspect them before leaving it's my fault .

Pasty kitchen was recommended by my sisters, and we were in the area, so I decided to place an order online for pickup. 24 minute curbside parking is available right in front. I ordered a variety of items, including a 6 pack of their beef pasty (comes with 2 gravy containers), veggie pasty, apple turnovers and a broccoli salad. I also got an extra side of beef gravy, which was so good that I may or may not have drank it while taking bites of the hot delicious pasty (thin flaky pastry crust filled with ground beef, potatoes, carrots and onions). Will definitely be back again!

A simple menu with pastries baked with simple ingredients. The flavor, however, is anything but simple. These meat filled pastries are perfection in a pastry package! My mistake was ordering individual ones instead of starting off with the family pack. Be better than me and just order the family pack. :)

After hearing amazing things about this place and being only a few minutes away from the Long Beach VA, I decided to make a pit stop. Best decision ever because this place did not disappoint! I've never had a meat pie before, but they are very similar to empanadas and well who doesn't love a good empanada. They sell a variety of flavors in either small or large and two gravy options (chicken and beef). With an assortment of fruit pies and cookies. What I ordered: Small chicken with a small side of chicken gravy. Definitely my favorite. Small beef with a side of beef gravy. Also great. Small chorizo was good, but I prefer the chicken with chicken gravy. Chicken gravy is a bit more runnier and the beef gravy is thick. Both are flavorful and perfect for dipping. Broccoli salad- definitely a must if you are a fan of this salad. It's really good! Apple fruit pie takes me back to the McDonald's version from the 90's. Especially if you pop it in the air fryer for a couple of minutes. Cherry fruit pie was good, but the apple one was better. The difference between small and large comes down to how much can you eat. Keep in mind these meat pies are very hearty so I recommend getting the small one, but if you are sharing definitely get the large. I will say if you order to go, since they are fresh and packaged great, they stay warm for a while. They are easy to reheat in the oven at 350 for 10-15 minutes. Prices are very reasonable. The staff were friendly and helpful with going over the menu items. If there is a line, it moves pretty fast. Overall, definitely recommended!

Ask the Community - Pasty Kitchen

Hi, I bought a whole bag of pasties but I forgot what the color coding on the twisty-ties were. I have red, blue, and green. What are they?

Are credit cards accepted?

Yes

Have the vegetarian pasties returned?

No they have not. I was told today that they were discontinued.

What are the directions for a small frozen pasty?

Bake for 45 minutes @ 400º F. I grabbed one of their business cards last time I visited--the directions are printed in the corner!

Is the regular staff back?

I was in there today for the first time since the beginning of the pandemic. It was a whole new staff and they really didn’t seem on top of things.

Any plans for delivery options?

We have been looking into it, however currently we don't have any. I will post it on social media if and when one comes available. It is still at least a few months out.

Is the veggie pastry vegetarian ? I couldn't tell what the brown consistency was?

Yes they are.

Does your gravy contain any pork products?

No. Not according to the ingredients listed on the package. I checked for you.

Can I order pasty’s ahead of time if I want at least quite a bit of them for family and friends?

Yes we would actually appreciate it if you called ahead for large orders, especially if it is during the lunch or dinner hour.

Hello I went to your kitchen this past Saturday. It was highly recommended by my friend/coworker. I let her know that the flavor of the pies were delicious BUT very dry! She asked, didn't you get the gravy? NO! I didn't. Am I suppose to ask for it?

Yes, it's not free but it's so worth it!

Have you ever had a calorie count done of one small beef pasty? And a small gravy too by chance? Thank you!

There is no calorie info on the food items. Sorry

Can you request without carrots /peas if ordered ahead of time. Just want the onion/potato/beef?

Unfortunately we cant . However we dont use peas at all in our beef or chicken pasties. I am a picky eater myself so trust when I say that you can hardly notice the amount of carrot in the pasty. (Especially if you have it with gravy).

Do you sell your pasties at any farmer's markets?

No. We only sell them at our restaurant.

Is shipping out of state available?

Unfortunately we do not offer any shipping of our product.

What are the cooking directions for the frozen ones?

Wrap in aluminum foil and oven bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes to an hour.

Are the veggie pasties vegan or just vegetarian?

Yes they are vegan.

Are there onions in their pies?

Hello Nina. We do use a very small amount of onion in our pasties. As you can see by the other answers it is almost undetectable. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Open until 8?

Yes, except Sundays when they close at 5.

Would you consider the meat in the pasty to be rare, medium, or well done? (I'm sorry if the question seems odd, but I have a fussy eater at home.) Thank you for your help!

The meat is raw before being wrapped in the pasty and then placed in the oven. The meat is well done.

My family and I decided to visit for the first time for British cuisine. It's not a far departure…read morefrom foods of other cultures around the locality, but you'll notice differences between British and American English, for example. Many of their dishes include chips, which during my visit, resembled steak fries due to their thickness. You'll also see that curry is a signature dish in the menu, which reflects how Anglo-Indian cuisine has maintained popular influence in the United Kingdom. I ordered Cutty Sark's curry with chicken, rice, and chips at medium spice. The name is derived from a British merchant vessel that operated during the late 1800s. The curry had a mix of savory and sweet flavors, which reminded me of both Japanese and Indian cuisines at the same time. I couldn't say with certainty that the curry fit into just one cuisine. Packed with some heat and bold in spice, it's a delightful and large dish if you desire a lot of flavor. Where the curry went a little off course was the addition of celery. The petiole is strongly flavored and distracts from the curry in my perhaps controversial opinion. Curry seems to better mix with potatoes and carrots. I tried some of the bacon sarnie as well. The word "sarnie" is an affectionate diminutive for "sandwich." American bacon usually comes from pork belly, which provides a flavorful yet oily crispiness. However, the British variant usually comes from the loin, which is meatier and leaner. I thought of the bacon here as similar to a savory ham. The sarnie bread is fried in fat to emphasize buttery flavor. The restaurant, filled with English decorations, has the style of a cozy and dim pub. There's a good amount of small wooden booths with cracked leather seating. Our server was really nice and made sure we got everything we needed despite the busyness of the restaurant. For example, my curry came with a chutney, and I had asked for a lid to take it home. While I forgot to take the chutney home, she went outside as she noticed that we took the back exit to look at their double-decker bus. She even offered to take a picture of us. The service deserves a lot of kudos, and we were grateful for her consideration.

However, after our experience last weekend, I don't know if I'll be returning any time soon. We went to celebrate Father's Day and my birthday and we're seated quickly. While the restaurant wasn't terribly crowded, the service was awful. The blonde waitress with the British accent was very rude and yelled at my son's (15, 18, and 21) which they later said made then feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. The service was very slow and we only had one water refill, despite asking repeatedly, in almost 3 hours. They were also out of multiple items including scotch eggs, sausage rolls, steak and ale pies, and sticky coffee pudding (they only had two). We never received our scotch eggs and sausage rolls and it wasn't until I asked about them after the entrees came that I was told they had run out. And we were never told that the beef wellington, which we ordered in place of the steak and ale pies that they had run out of, was almost $20 more than the steak and ale pies. Then, the bill came and the scotch eggs and sausage rolls were still on the bill, which I failed to notice at the time, so we had to return and ask for a credit for those two items. This was the worst experience we've had at this restaurant. We've had the blonde waitress before and she can be abrupt but this time, she crossed the line into being downright rude and we all felt unwelcome as a result. And to receive the treatment and have this many issues while celebrating special family events was disappointing. I'm not sure if and when I'll be back after the poor treatment we received which is a shame because I do love their food.

The storefront is almost hidden on the right side of the food hall and can be easy to miss if you're not looking for it. There was no wait, and I was able to order right away. They gave me a beeper, and I was able to find a nearby table without any trouble. I ordered the Fish N Chips, which was a generous portion. It came with two large pieces of fish that were nicely fried. The batter wasn't too thick, and the fish itself was tender rather than overly flaky or hard. The texture and overall quality were good, but it was a bit lacking in flavor, even with malt vinegar and tartar sauce. The steak fries were crispy and not overly salty, which I enjoyed. Overall, the meal was average. With limited fish and chip options nearby, it's still a decent choice if you're in the area and craving it.
