I had the biggest craving for Fish N Chips. I randomly found this place one day while taking my kids to Simone's Donuts next door. OH EM GEEEE This was easily a 10/10. The fish was perfectly crunchy and fresh as can be. The couple working it (Hi Michelle) were so sweet and hospitable. They have a special $9.85 (or something like that under $10) for 2 pieces of fish, 2 pieces fried zucchini, fries and coleslaw. Such a steal of a deal. Truly cannot recommend this cute little hole in the wall more. Vibe was great. When I got home my 5 year old said "what's the smelll, can I have that?" And ate my second piece of fish for me. I came here because I had a craving for Fish and Chips and this place popped up on Yelp. It's in a strip mall with a crowded parking lot. The inside looks like it is was an H Salt's, which is what i was looking for. On the other hand, it looks like it hadn't been updated since the 70s, except for a few fishing signs and plants. The menu looks like the original one. It's that old school fried food thing, The woman who takes your order fries the food. I got mine to eat here. She brought the food to my table. It's frozen fish in that famous triangular fish piece that no fish looks like. The fish has good crunch but little actual taste. The tartar sauce does not taste like it was freshly made and it's a little overly sweet. But the friend fish with the vinegar and tartar sauce was what i was looking for. This is the kind of place that is reminiscent of what H Salt was. Maybe my memory of what this tasted like is inaccurate. But it just doesn't taste as good as I remember. But that could be me or the place, or both. If you want this kind of place, it'll work. Just don't expect much. read more

This is a mom and pop shop in Long Beach, off Palo Verde and Stearns, featuring fish and chips ($11.50 for 3pcs). I stuck to the fish, but my wife got a "combo 2" ($13), that included two fried shrimp and two fish. Food was fried to order and ready in fifteen minutes, which is the way to enjoy some chippies. I think the fish was great as it had a nice crispy batter with flakey fish. I don't usually like malt vinegar, but it went really well with the fish and tartar sauce. The shrimp in my wife's combo 2 was OK. We felt the proportion of breading to shrimp was a little too high. The fries were also standard thick fries that were light on seasoning. Next time I come, I'd probably come back for their fish, some popcorn shrimp, and maybe some coleslaw to balance things out. Shop is small with four two tops and no public restrooms. The spot is down the way from one of my favorite bars. Considering that today is Friday I was left with just getting fish for lunch. When I walked in, I noticed that it had a very similar atmosphere to H-Salt, fish and chips. It's a small place with only seating for six. If you have the option of calling your order in, especially if you order a lot. I kept it simple in order to fish and chips to-go. When I got home, I was happily surprised that the fish and chips were separated. I really don't like when the fish and chips are on one plate because I like to pour lemon juice all over my fish and rather not on my fries. It was very crispy fish, and while I am not crazy about crinkle cut fries, they were very crispy and very good. Maybe the owners were very busy cooking but the fish were received were SATURATED with cooking oil. Even today, when I attempted to reheat the leftover fish in my toaster oven, the cooking oil was dripping out of the leftover fish.
