Shrimp are large which is good but we're only blah. Hush puppies were good.

Sad to leave a bad review but customer service was terrible and food only meh. Called in takeout order for Shrimp (4), onion rings, fish(1) and hush puppies. Asked about combo and substitute onion rings for the chips. Indicated it was ok. Arrived for pick up and was charged full price for each item. Asked about combo and lady said "you have to ask for combo" which I did on phone. Now it's too late. Bill should have been less than $20 instead $35. Felt scammed. Plus, food seemed blah. Maybe because I was pissed for getting price gouged.

This is a mom and pop shop in Long Beach, off Palo Verde and Stearns, featuring fish and chips ($11.50 for 3pcs). I stuck to the fish, but my wife got a "combo 2" ($13), that included two fried shrimp and two fish. Food was fried to order and ready in fifteen minutes, which is the way to enjoy some chippies. I think the fish was great as it had a nice crispy batter with flakey fish. I don't usually like malt vinegar, but it went really well with the fish and tartar sauce. The shrimp in my wife's combo 2 was OK. We felt the proportion of breading to shrimp was a little too high. The fries were also standard thick fries that were light on seasoning. Next time I come, I'd probably come back for their fish, some popcorn shrimp, and maybe some coleslaw to balance things out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Shop is small with four two tops and no public restrooms.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I prefer to take things to go here. Parking isn't bad. Cost and portion were pretty reasonable.

Ordered Seafood Combination - Prep time - 10 minutes Fish 3.5/5 Wasn't piping hot nor big in circumference compared to (England's) fish n chips on pacific. Fries were just ok. Scallops were good 4/5 Fried shrimps were small but fried well. Onion rings was ok 3.5/5 Cocktail sauce 5/5 is boss with the clam strips! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mostly white folks and elderly people frequenting this place during my stay.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service - Friendly and welcoming. A good local business to support as their prices aren't too expensive. You do get what you pay for.

Hidden Gem Alert! This place feels like the last of a vanishing species: the true mom-and-pop shop. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The moment I walked in, I felt that familiar pang of recognition: something only children of immigrants might understand.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a look to it, unmistakable: the storefront window with its slightly uneven finish, the fridge in the corner where you're trusted to help yourself to a drink, the owner who is both cashier and cook, moving seamlessly between roles with the ease of someone who has built their life around this place, the old manual register till that doesn't suggested tips starting at 20%....[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Just incredible food served on a humble dixie plate. And, of course, the quiet generosity; this is the kind of business that sponsors the local little league team without forms, applications, or committees. Just heart and an honorable plaque with the team picture to show for it. When my fish taco arrived, I surprised myself by tearing up. The batter was perfectly crisp, the vegetables freshly cut by hand.... each piece even only in the most human way, and the fries golden and crunchy. The food was more than good; it was grounding, nostalgic, even moving. It tasted like care, like memory, like a small miracle served on a plate at a price you can actually afford. CASH only! Shops like this are disappearing, but this one is still here, and for as long as it is, I'll keep coming back.

For whatever reason it seems that my previous review has been deleted. Perhaps because I rated them a 1 star and gave my personal honest review? Anyways, I'll keep it even shorter and simpler than the last review: * Service was average. * [[HIGHLIGHT]]Environment was small, cozy and embodied an almost rustic feel.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] * Fish had no flavor, consisted primarily of breading. * Fries were average. * Tartar sauce consisted mainly of onion. * I ended up discarding my entire meal as it PERSONALLY didn't suit my palate. Conclusively, I find it almost tacky when businesses cannot handle any (respectfully cordial) criticism from clientele. I hope this review is nice enough to voice my honest opinion in terms of taste and my overall experience. :)

I have been wanting to try out this place and stopped to pick up lunch today. Parking was difficult. I had to park a block away. I picked up 2 pcs and fries for $9.50. Waited about 10 mins for the food. The fish was crispy on the outside and soft in the inside. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a few tables inside for dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely will come back again to try their other menu items.

One upon a time, it is the season for fish and chips! What better place than LB's Village Fish and Chips to have a delicious meal at a good price. The end.

Wanted something and didn't want the usual stuff. I opted for #villageinnfishchips l ordered the combo it was a lot of food, enough for dinner. The service was great very nice couple so happy I told them I would do a yelp review. My food was yummy will definitely return soon...

Stars for friendly service and the best fries! Shrimp was good, fish was ok. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dining area is dirty and small, not a good option to sit down, but ok in a pinch.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Even the decor had crusty grime, and maybe leftover from previous owners?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was all fine. I'm glad I tried it.

    Cindy O.

Very good fish and chips! The fish was not overly greasy and it was still piping hot when I drove it home, nor did it getting soggy! Fries were great. I saw some onion rings coming out and definitely want to order some on our next visit. I just ordered two London's, two pieces of fish and fries. It was the perfect size for each us. It doesn't come with coleslaw and wished I had ordered some. The price point is very good, $8.57 each! The owners, husband and wife, were very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There are a few tables inside for dine-in but I think mostly a take-out operation.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

2 fish and an order of fried zucchini!
    Lisa F.

I finally got there! The food tasted exactly like I remember from the "other" fish and chips place that closed. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The service was good and the place looked like a real fish and chips store.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The parking lot was a challenge for sure. I was just happy I got to go and enjoyed the food!

Triple catch (1 fish, 2 shrimps, 3 scallop w/ chips)
    Christopher T.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute, small & friendly place, but outdated decor.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Got fish tacos, and triple catch, great tasty fish tacos, fish is nice and fluffy, shrimps & scallops are okey - just abit much of the batter. The owners (I thinks) are very friendly, especially the husband (also the cook too). Nice place for English foods.

Unfortunately, one employee, Marisol, consistently provides poor customer service. She comes across as combative, takes no accountability for mistakes, and makes resolving simple issues unnecessarily difficult. My daughter called in our usual order for pickup. When she arrived, she immediately noticed something was wrong because the total was much lower than expected. When she politely brought it to Marisol's attention, instead of acknowledging that there may have been a mistake, Marisol insisted the order had never been placed that way. She then asked my daughter if she wanted to order the missing item while she was already there to pick up her food, which would require waiting another 15 minutes. Since the delay was the result of an incorrect order, my daughter asked if she could at least receive fresh fries while waiting. Marisol told her she would have to pay extra for fresh fries. Marisol also claimed that she had repeated the order back over the phone when it was originally placed. That simply isn't true. She rushed my daughter off the phone, saying she'd see her in 15 minutes, without reviewing the order. We've continued to support A&J's because the food is consistently excellent, but experiences like this make it harder to keep coming back. Great food can only go so far when customers are made to feel dismissed instead of valued. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and provides additional customer service training so loyal customers receive the experience they deserve.

This spot is great for small groups, and has visibility to several TVs scattered across the bar. We ordered a variety of apps, including the spinach and artichoke dip and the fried pickles.
