Orders Seafood Comb 1 fish , 1 Large Shrimp , and chips 9.99 Place is quite small with about 4 tables. Output time - 10 minutes which isn't the fastest but they do have a bunch of locals coming in and out. Fish 4/5 - Freshly made but mid size in portion. Shrimp 3/5 - there were 2 sections which consisted of primarily of just hallow batter. Fries - Basic...ended up discarding most at the end of the meal. Tartar Sauce - Very very good! Environment - 5/5 You definitely feel safer to dine in as compared to other trendier spots from village inn or "Englands Fish n chips in Long Beach". Overall - Support your local spot for fresh fish!

Wow. I believe this is authentic. I've never been to England, but I hear stories about flavorless British food and this really opened my eyes. The fish was good. It was shaped like a wedge, it was a good size, and had a delicious flakiness and a strong crunch. It went well with the tartar sauce. I personally didn't like the malt vinegar, it's too sour. But apparently the British go crazy for it? Must be me. 10/10. The fries were dry, lacked salt, and were not crispy. I hated them. Must be me. 10/10. The scallops were actually juicy, they were a bit salty, and they tasted good. Very weird. Shrimp was good too. I learned I don't like fish and chips. I mean personally, my American tastes prefer a square-shaped McDonalds filet-o-fish and a side of McDonalds fries. But I can get that anywhere. If you want an authentic British experience, American tastes be damned, come here. I may get the fish by itself next time, the vinegar was kinda growing on me.

Maybe it is the fact that I use to get fish-n-chips from this same location when I was growing, but I think it was a different restaurant name. The service was polite, but stern. Pleasant, and hospitality but serious. Good honest service. The ambiance was hints of the UK all over again, as I had the pleasure of going there a few times. As for the fish it was flakey and crisp. I would suggest eating the chips there as the steam in the bag made them a bit soft. Although I was impressed that their bags had vent holes in them to help try to relieve the steam while taking your food home. I would definitely go back, but it is more of a comfort food. Enjoy

When you walk in, you're just hit with the smell of fresh frying oil. I came here at lunch time, so I know what I was expecting. It was a wait. The wait time was pretty bad, but that's because everyone is trying to get some fresh fried fish and chips. This place makes it fresh and keeps it coming, they work hard! The inside is small, as it's not meant to hold a bunch of people anyway. Most of the people inside are just waiting for their order. The fish and chips are just like the H Salt chain, very similar. But getting the fish and shrimps fresh has a really nice bite and crunch. I would come here again if I was nearby and craved it.

New go to fish and chips place !!! I stumble upon this plaza because I was waiting around to have lunch with my husband and went to the dollar store right next door. I looked up reviews and they had good reviews but I was hesitant, but they even have the United Kingdom flag up so I was like they can't mess that up!! I think he was the owner at the front, super friendly & attentive. He told me my order would take 10 minutes. Everything came out super fresh and crispy, my 2 years old even screamed "I love it!" lol. We will definitely be coming back!! They even sell other items!!

This place is so good really- The vibe is super warm and themed and the fish and chips are honestly the best It's all cooked to order, so obviously it's going to be a bit of a wait but they come out piping hot everytime. The breading is so golden and really crunchy crispy and the fish comes out so light but hearty. Love this place

The fish was really tasty with the malt vinegar and tartar. Two pieces with the "chips" filled me up just right. They have a lot of other English items like mushy peas. Just stick to the fish & chips and you can't go wrong. The dining room is extremely small. Consider getting it to go.

This is busy fast casual fish and chips joint in the corner of the plaza. It's in the corner, but the line was consistent and moving along. We purchased the 1 fish, 1 shrimp, 4 scallops, and chips combo and three piece fish, calamari for two people. We got to try a little bit of everything from our meals. The fish was the best item, nice and thick, flaky, but not over battered. The fish and shrimp had the same batter, probably flour. Then the calamari and scallop had the same seasoned breadcrumb batter. The french fries were standard, but could use some salt. They provide condiments in plastic containers and bottles of malt vinegar. It was a small quaint place. They had few tables inside. And shelves of british snacks and candy for sale. I would return to this place, but stick to ordering the fish.

This place is very popular! We came in at lunch time and there was a line out the door. They were constantly frying and putting out freshly fried food. There is no ambiance, it's very cozy inside with a few tables crammed in and the ongoing line. There were two employees, one person frying and the guy taking orders (possibly the owner?). He would take turns between taking orders, phone orders, and cooking the food. The line did not move fast. He would prioritize the phone orders over the people standing in line which made it longer on the ordering and pick up side. He would ring people up and give them a receipt but no number or any identifier - he would look at you after some time and ask you what you ordered lol either way, it all worked out. The fish and shrimp were good and worth the wait.

We dropped by this place for the first time. I was craving for fried batter fish and chips. We ordered fried fish, onion rings, fried zucchini, fried chicken strips, French fries, and coleslaw. This place is clean. The food is so yummy. Definitely will return. I would want to try out scallops, calamari, and shrimp next time. Prices are reasonable as well.

I grew up in the SF Bay Area, going with my parents and eating on a regular basis, H. Salt Esq. Fish & Chips. One of my favorite ways to eat fried fish, drenched in English Malt vinegar. My wife and I are always on the hunt for an establishment that would be relatively the same as my childhood memories of fish & chips. There have been some places that are pretty good and others that have disappointed us. While my wife shopped, I quickly looked at my list of fish and chip places to try. Looks like Union Jack Fish & Chips was pretty close to where we were at, so off we went. Union Jack is located in the same strip mall where Dutch Bros is located. The line of cars lined up was similar to that of the vehicle line for In n Out's drive thru. There were two Dutch Bros employees taking orders from the vehicles queued up a la the In n Out process, but just be aware of the line sinking behind the Chevron station. Union Jack is tucked in the NE corner of the mall. It is a small establishment with seating for about 15 persons both inside and outside the shop. Most of the folks seemed to picking up phone orders or ordering takeout, but for us neither is an option due to our distance from our residence. When I walked in, I mmediatedly flashed back to memories of walking into an H. salt Esquire shop. The same decorated front prep counter where the freshly fried fish and other goodies would be dumped to drain of their oil while being salted and lightly splashed with malt vinegar was there. We looked at the menu and chose a 3 Piece fish & chip dinner and one 3-piece fish only, with two large fountain sodas. Total price was $33.55. I'm was pretty disappointed with my initial interaction with the gentleman at the counter taking the orders. I observed he was busy taking phone orders and I stood there patiently not like an entitled, demanding patron. Yet, no eye contact, no silently mouthed be with you in a moment etc. It's almost like he had an immediate dislike for me either racially or whatever. I have never been to this place before or met this guy somewhere else so I was puzzled about his lack of congeniality. After he rang up my order, no thank you, nothing. He just literally tossed my payment card on the counter after running it. Yeah, so sorry but I'm not tipping you for that type of unwarranted behavior. I watched him interact with other patrons, and he seemed to be more friendly with them, regarding of gender or ethnicity. Maybe he treats his regulars differently from walk-ins, but that can make a walk-in a new regular as well. As for the food, it arrived after so many orders taken after us were fulfilled. But once we received it, the piping hot fried fish was so delicious. The fillets were lightly battered and fried to a golden brown with flaky moist fish inside. A light sprinkle of paprika on the coating made it very eye appealing as well. The fillets as they cooled were not oily and greasy and the french fries were great also. A bottle of malt vinegar & ketchup was also silently handed to us as we picked up our order. I was in heaven having the ability to douse my fish pieces with the malt vinegar. Four small sampling sized cups filled with tartar sauce was also included on our tray. We both really enjoyed our fish and despite the unexpected cold service from staff, we will come back often for the great fish and chips!

    H. Salt is no longer as far as I know but, Union Jack is here and maybe better than H. Salt! The owner was taking the orders and was very engaging He has owned it since 1990. For less than $20 got what you see here including a large drink The fish was fresh, flaky and perfectly fried and oh so good! The chips, aka fries, were good as well They have a nice selection of traditional English items including candies and sauces. Miss H. Salt? Here is the new go-to place!

I wish I had time to enjoy a drink because they looked good when I saw a waiter delivering drinks to other tables. Our server, Abbie, was gracious and friendly. She was attentive to us and to all her other tables. Never skipped a beat on what part of the meal her customers were at (ordering, mid-meal, refills, dessert, paying, etc.) We ordered: A bowl of clam chowder - creamy and flavorful. Good amount of clams. A side salad - my hubby and I couldn't agree on dressing so Abbie brought both for us on the side. 3-piece fish and chips - crispy fish batter, not too thick. It's mahi-mahi so it's meatier than the typical cod. Fries were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Doused all of this goodness with their malt vinegar. We recommended this place to the other water polo families. Hopefully they stopped by too. I will definitely return! Thank you.

Service was good and there's a decent amount of seating inside with cute little marine themed decor. Lobster roll combo with the soup ($32) - I got the Maine style (cold) lobster roll which had really good flavor and the amount of lobster was really nice. I wish they pushed the lobster down into the roll a little more instead of stacking it on top to make it look fuller because it made it a lot harder to eat. The side salad was okay. I liked the clam chowder a lot. Fries and tater tots were perfectly crispy! Flaming hot lobster fries ($25): This feels a bit overpriced for what it is and kind of lackluster. Fries were good and crispy but the cheese wasn't melted well. Lobster is thrown on there and I think it would be better with cheeto dust versus the random cheetos thrown on top. Fish tacos ($15): You get three tacos which is decent pricing. The fish was crispy and flavor is basic but good. All in all, a good spot to get your lobster roll fix without having to drive too far!
