Although I don't think you would come here for the ambiance, it is clean and comfortable. The prices, while not cheap, were fairly reasonable. All meals came with rice and beans. My wife ordered chicken, my daughter steak, and me beef stew. I had a piece of my wife's chicken and it was delicious. My daughter's steak was a real steak and she devoured it. I wish my beef stew was real beef stew but it was just chunks of beef. Still, it wasn't bad. Again, if you like rice and beans, you won't be disappointed. I'll give this place 3 1/2 to 4 stars. Looking for a place for a bite and decided to check out Tio Pio. Noticed they had a special deal for a free soup when you ordered a sandwich, so went for Roast Pork Sandwich and Lentil Soup. Definitely tasty, but the drawback here was a couple tables needed to be cleaned and the loud group of kids hanging out, sitting there and not ordering, while constantly vaping. Also, wouldn't necessarily calling it cheap eats for what you got, but that being said you may want to try Tio Pio out. read more

Stopped by during my lunch break and immediately got a franchise vibe from this place. I was hoping to buy pernil by the pound, but that wasn't an option, so I ordered it as a meal with maduros. The pernil itself was solid--above average with nice crispy skin--but the maduros were just okay, nothing special. I also tried the tres leches cake, but it was disappointing. They added cinnamon for some reason, which didn't help, and it lacked enough tres leches, making it a bit dry. I didn't even finish it. I had passed this place a million times and today I finally decided to give it a try. Everything was amazing! We had the burrito bowl with pork shoulder with pineapple sauce and guacamole as well as the Tio Pio salad with the homemade lemonade (made with a hint of horchata). This was my first time coming here and I was not impressed. The roasted chicken was bland thank god it comes with a green sauce that helps with the lack of flavor. It wasn't too dry but definitely needed more seasoning. The combo meal came with your choice of rice (white or yellow) and beans. The beans tasted odd I couldn't figure out what it was I was tasting but they were lacking in flavor as well. I think the best part of my meal was the side of sweet plantains.. kind of hard to mess that up though. There are so many much better Spanish food options in the city nearby. Overall for $19 including a diet coke it was well worth it. The only thing that was missing was bread. I had flan for dessert. The texture was a bit hard for flan but tasty. Creamy, I could taste the egg and the other ingredients. However the chicken from the Stewed Chicken needed some Latin spices, the Bananas were not fried plantains they were bananas.
