Holiday Drink Special - Iced Eggnog Latte
    Kelly B.

I think with the reviews and the 3 things we ordered it's safe to say ALL things are good here. My kid got an oatmeal cookie and wouldn't share. Devoured it quickly. I ordered an iced eggnog latte and it was so good! The froth on the latte!!!! Omg!! My hubs got a peanut butter and banana milkshake with chocolate ice cream base. The three of us can't stop talking how good our items were. My husband said his milkshake was near perfect! Anyhoo, it might take a few minutes for the person to whip these items up but let me assure you...it's worth the wait!

Excellent little icecream and baked goods shop. Amazing quality, priced very reasonably and large portions.

So cute and fun! Delicious treats! We popped in after we checked out the little Hadley Garden across the street.

AWFUL chocolate chip cookie cheesecake!!! (only picture I took unfortunately)

I got a slice of snickerdoodle cheesecake here a bit over a week ago. It was good but not great. Way too sweet. Today I decided to go back for the second time and I got a slice of chocolate chip cookie cheesecake. This is literally the worst slice of cheesecake I've ever had. It tastes like it's a week old. They store their cheesecake and other pastries in a glass case in direct sunlight. I'm not sure if it's refrigerated or not but it sure doesn't taste like it and it comes out at room temperature. It was stale, dry, and hard. Even the pieces of chocolate chip cookie on top. I've had real NY cheesecake in NY so I know the difference between dense cheesecake and old cheesecake. I'm very disappointed because I spent $7.50 to be disappointed by the whole thing. It's sad because I like to support small businesses and I want to like this place but something is just always off and honestly I'd rather go somewhere else. The employees are really nice so that's good.

So good! Kids AND adults loved it!

Great service! Amazing product! Kids AND adults loved it! Would come back again, for sure!

The best cinnamon rolls I have ever had!

Sadly, most of the shops were closed since it's mostly seasonal and on a cold and foggy February weekend, it was pretty quiet. I found the Cat Shack Ice Cream stand while exploring the area. A nice young man assisted me. I ordered a cup of strawberry and spumoni. Very delicious! Almost ate the whole cup while chatting with him. His family has been in Ferndale for generations. The shop next door was his great grandpa's Ford Shop and the house on the other side belonged to his family as well. I love supporting a local, family business, even on a cold day! He told me all about Ferndale, how it is a small town and community. How it is mostly generational businesses and homes. It's hard to even find a rental, he says, without knowing anyone in town. He said everyone helps each other out and knows everyone. I love that type of town which you dont see much anymore. Please come by to support local business!

I thought it was called Get Your Licks based on the sidewalk sandwich board, but presumably there's a different owner though it was still a one-person operation in a standalone kiosk that invited drop-bys by its mere presence. This time I was with Jamie W. and I had a fond memory of the ice cream served here. I found out it came from the Oregon-based Umpqua Dairy. They've been making ice cream since the Great Depression. And I don't mean the Trump years. I went for a $5 Large Cup of Rocky Road and Espresso Chip (photo: https://bit.ly/3b3QF8t), while Jamie had the same size combo of Chocolate and Caramel Cone (photo: https://bit.ly/3tGgySk). We took advantage of the empty weather-worn picnic table and leisurely got our licks. It seemed like the perfect thing to do in the Mayberry-like town of Ferndale. I think Barney would've brought Thelma Lou here after necking at Myers Lake. I wasn't happy about it but I decided to let it slide and hoped the food would make up for it. I was extremely disappointed with the food. My eggs Benny's egg whites were still runny, English muffin absolutely soggy and disgusting, with a thin slice of deli ham. The potatoes (that I wasn't informed or asked if I wanted onions or peppers by the way) were so grease soaked and cold that they were actually inedible. My partner's chicken fried steak was way overcooked, hard and tough. Just all around terrible. TLDR; given the completely wrong drink, food was impossible to get down, and no concern of my uneaten food by the server or owner. Not worth it at all.

I had the "Alliecat's Favorite Toast". It was absolutely delicious. Thick slices of sourdough topped with a smashed avocado, two eggs over-easy, very tasty cherry tomatoes, drizzled with olive oil and sea salt. The room has some really cool farm-type decorations, a hardwood floor, but the tables are far enough apart that you can talk to your guests and not have trouble hearing each other. The last question below was if a staff member requested me to leave a review - she did; however, I always like to share my experiences in case someone else has any questions. I was staying at the Bear River Casino Resort, and this restaurant was the only one on property. I…read morewas quite surprised at how good the food was considering this was at a hotel/casino. We had dinner here the first night and got their special salmon, fried avocado, and fried mozzarella. The salmon was super moist and flavorful. The fried avocado was the biggest hit for the table. The avocado was ripe and breaded and fried to perfection. We had some fried mozzarella sticks with a good cheese pull, while others were not that great. We also had breakfast here the next morning. I got the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were not dry, which I really appreciated. It was a lot of food with not much variety in flavor to eat for an entire meal. I'd definitely recommend splitting this with the group. There is a different price with the casino players card + you're given coupons everyday for breakfast. While the restaurant is spacious, there weren't enough workers to open up the entire restaurant. I'd definitely recommend getting here early if you want to be seated in the first group of customers. Service was excellent at both meals!

I'm really disappointed with our experience at Rivers Edge in the Bear River Casino. We waited over…read morean hour for a simple order, and when the food finally came out, it was subpar at best. My partner ordered the breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 toast, 2 links, and hashbrowns extra crispy. Unfortunately, the hashbrowns were soggy and limp, more like rubber than crispy. The toast was decent, the eggs were fine, but the sausage links weren't cooked to order--they were just as rubbery as the hashbrowns. Parsley Garnish was old and wilted... As for my BLT with avocado and fries, the fries were fine and the ranch was okay. But the lettuce on my sandwich was old--wilted and had brown spots. They acknowledged it and offered to bring fresh lettuce, but honestly, that shouldn't have even been an issue in the first place. I'm giving it 2 stars, and the two stars are really just for the server who tried hard and gave us a 20% discount. In reality, this meal should've been free. This is a management issue from the top down. Here are some basics that should be addressed: Old lettuce and garnish should never make it to the plate--throw it out! When a customer asks for something like extra crispy hashbrowns or well-done meat, it should be done right. You can't just trust your staff to get everything right. They need training, testing, and supervision until they consistently meet the standards. Either you're not training them properly, or your standards are just too low. If I can't trust you to pull fresh lettuce for a sandwich, how can I trust you with perishables like meat, poultry, or fish? Unfortunately, this is the norm up here. Over the years, Bear River has never risen above these basic issues. It's sad, especially with all the money they make--you'd think they could afford to hire and train staff who can prepare a decent BLT or cook hashbrowns to a basic level of acceptability. Sorry, but this has been the same disappointment year after year.
