    Pav Bhakti Dosa

Great flavors. Friendly staff. Would come again. This is why America was discovered. Columbus was looking for Indian food.

    Pav Bhaji Dosa

A fast casual spot for Indian food in Times Square! While dosa is the main dish, the menu spans into many other options. I tried the traditional masala dosa and pav bhaji dosa. Each comes with a chutney, sambar lentil soup, and a garlic dip. I found the food to be a bit spicy for me, but still good. I don't know if 'mild' is an option for the dosa I ordered. Lol Cool to see the dosa perfectly made in front of you. Everything was nicely packaged to go. Service was great! Indoor seating is cute with elephant artwork. A few tables and bar seating available, but most have to go orders. Very clean & organized inside. No restroom.

This place is a very casual spot for Indian street food and everything is absolutely delicious. The staff is so nice (Tony made some great recs) and the chaats are probably some of the best I've had. Very big portions for the price and highly recommend stopping by!

Meh. I tried the traditional masala dosa (was a little dense) and chili cheese sandwich (honestly better than the dosa). Obviously you can get a better dosa at Dosa Delight or Temple Canteen or the guy in Washington square park, but it's Times Square so we'll take what we can get. I will say the sauces that came with the dosa were excellent. They also forgot my friend's order and it took forever to get our food. Not ideal when you're trying to quickly grab lunch on a work day. 3.5 stars.

I really enjoyed the options on the menu and how different they are from Indian food you'd find at sit down restaurants. As more street food, the variety is fun and interesting. We got the paneer uttapam and lamb canteen sandwich. The canteen sandwich was our favorite - I'd probably get a different filling for the uttapam next time so that it's not so dry in texture. Flavor was good though. Lots on this menu that I'd like to try again!

Food tastes good and is made to order, but pretty pricey for what it is (1 dosa and 1 chaat came out to be 30 bucks). Dosa is good and hits the spot. You can't adjust spice level which can be problematic depending on your spicy tolerance. There is only paid bottled water on premises which is slightly odd for a spicy food place - so add that to the bill too. Not the best dosa in NYC (that would be the gunpowder dosa at Semma IMHO!) but it is the most convenient for midtown dwellers.

Vada, Idlys, Pani Puri (2 kinds)
    Emina S.

Ordered: traditional masala dosa (spicy potatoes) + Order of 3 Idlys + Vada (savory rice&lentil donuts) + samosa chaat + paniyaram. Sambar was incredible as were all the other sauces and foods. Favorite was def. the dosa. Service was quick and friendly! Not a fan of the way they added the mango lassis to the bottom of the bag as some of one spilled out. Those should be in a separate to-go carrier. Great take-out experience otherwise, and super happy to have this fast casual South Indian spot nearby.

I tried their pani puri and Pav bhaji. I love that they're open late and the food is decently spiced. I wish the Pav Bhaji was accompanied with a side of lime slice, cilantro, and onions. I also wanted to try their drinks but my drink (and overall order) wasn't sealed for delivery and the DoorDash person spilled it all

Uttapam tacos with bhaji and podi

SERVICE - located near Times Square in an unassuming location off of Broadway - limited indoor seating - order at the counter and then find a table if you wish to sit or else take your order to go - depending on your order food can be served quickly or take a bit of time - ambiance good for a casual meal - no water provided other than bottled for purchase MENU - customizable south indian fast casual food - vegetarian and vegan options available - average price ($15 per entree) FOOD - uttapam tacos with bhaji and podi (7/10): three thick uttapams filled with potato mixture and spicy podi with sides of sambar, ginger pickle, and coconut chutney. The bhaji and podi were add ons. I was skeptical about the bhaji since it is meant to be the side dish for pav bhaji. The taste was okay but the textures were too much of mush. If I got it again I would probably go for the spiced potato filling. The podi does pack a heat punch. The ginger pickle was both sweet and spicy which made a good dip for the uttapam. The sambar that I got tasted tangy almost like it was made the day before and left on the counter. WOULD I GO BACK? It was a good fast casual lunch spot if I was in the area and needed something quick

    Dosa with chicken filling

Ever feel like your prayers have been answered? Histrionics aside, when I - a native Mumbaikar - can FINALLY enjoy a meat-filled dosa.... y'all are just gonna have to let me have my moment. I did have my concerns that the taste authenticity would be sacrificed (at least somewhat) to allow this unusual (and by "unusual" I mean never-before-seen-or-heard-of) pairing to occur, but nope! Even the keema filling was authentic is taste. The dosa was purrrrrrfect - that texture, friends? Not easy to strike the perfect balance all the time but these guys nailed it. Anyway, I'm so glad I stumbled upon this no-frills casual (and niche) eatery! Been dreaming about it ever since but totally need other people to share that dosa with.

    Lamb Sandwich

Stopped here on a whim for lunch while I was in the area and was pleasantly surprised! I got the lamb canteen sandwich and it was delicious. The portion was larger than I expected so I ended up taking some home. The decor is beautiful and the space is bright, clean and cheerful. It's counter service, so pretty casual.

Dosa was crispy and tasted really good. I liked the filling as well. The lentil chutney was yummy I didn't care for the other two. Service was a bit slow but I really enjoyed the food. It was also clean.

    Pani Puri ($12)
    Ameya B.

What works: fresh interiors, easy ordering, clean place, and ultra quick service. What doesn't work: the way food is served. Probably works really well as a to-go service, in which case, it's a 4 star. But to sit down, pay $15 for a masala dosa, and not get sambar, and chutney's in a steel plate takes away that authenticity from a "South Indian" restaurant. Yeah I am sure poeple will say it's not just South Indian food, but the name of the place wants you to stick to that cuisine. Ordered Vada ($12), which was okay-ish and couldn't really enjoy dipping it in my plastic container of sambar. The tamarind chutney was absolute banger though. Keema Pav ($16) lacked that masala kick to it, while the Pani Puri's ($12) did manage to hit the spot. Friendly staff, noise levels on the low end, and a reasonably priced menu will bring us again to try their Bombay snacks and Canteen sandwiches on our next visit for sure!

Only have been here once. My 15 dollar dosa contained 3 small pieces of potato. Hardly worth the price. Not filling, not worth it.

However, we never really got to it, having been busy exploring the Semmas and Bungalows of the city. On a cold Saturday evening my partner and I decided to give Indian Accent a shot - got rather last minute reservations over the phone. They were kind enough to accommodate us for a 7 pm slot, and once we got there we were seated immediately. We chose the four course menu, and found each course to be better than the one before! The shorba (soup) and garlic kulcha amuse bouche was a nice touch to get things started - loved the tiny terracotta mugs. Proceeded onto the shakarkandi chaat and the chilly pork roti - the former reminding me of the delectable street food in Delhi winters with the latter being a very good Indian rif on birria tacos. The star of the show for me was the Tofu medu vada - so unique and flavorful and melt in the mouth! I've not had anything quite like it before. My partner had the wagyu kebab that he said was excellent! For mains we had the chicken malai and the paneer - both tasty, but by this point we were already so full, and had to get most of the mains to go. But because there's always room for dessert, for our final course we scarfed down doda barfi with ice-cream and sticky toffee banana pudding - both of which were finger licking delish! Our service was great too - Ty our server was so nice and had the best recommendations. I'd have never gone for the tofu medu vada among all the other options and he urged me to, and it really turned out to be the highlight of my meal. The cocktails were good too. All in all, I think this is such a nice upscale Indian dining spot for a night out in the city. Having tried most of the other trending newer spots, i think Indian Accent sits right among the top! I'd highly recommend and cannot wait to be back!

So Annapurna Bhavan had my curiosity before I even walked in. The ambience was good. They don't take reservations, but we were seated as soon as we walked in. Sadly, the food didn't quite deliver. THE GOOD The dosas were well-made and honestly the highlight of the meal. Crispy, properly thin, no complaints there. THE NOT-SO-GOOD Ordered a Rose Milk. Got a rose lassi. These are two completely different things -- rose milk is a light, chilled milk drink; lassi is a yogurt-based beverage. Not a small mix-up if you know South Indian cuisine. The dahi vada was a letdown. It hadn't been soaked in yogurt nearly long enough -- the vadas were still firm, which defeats the whole purpose of the dish. Authentic dahi vada should be pillowy soft. A lot of the menu leans heavily Americanized. The oothappam topped with cheese and jalapeño is a prime example -- it's more Tex-Mex than Tamil Nadu. Fusion is fine, but don't call it traditional. BOTTOM LINE If you're in the neighborhood and craving something South Indian-adjacent, it's convenient and the dosas will do the job. But if you're someone who grew up eating this food and wants the real thing -- you'll probably leave a little disappointed. The location is great; the authenticity needs work.

The star of the show is Jaz herself -- the owner, hostess, and bartender all rolled into one wonderfully warm, charming British woman who somehow makes you feel like you've been a regular for years within thirty seconds of walking through the door. She's the kind of host who remembers how you like your chai and makes the whole room feel like her living room. Now, the food. The Chana Masala is deeply spiced, rich with tomato and chickpeas, the kind of dish that makes you question every mediocre version you've had before. The Saag is silky, fragrant, and genuinely soulful -- spinach that actually tastes like something. And the Onion Kulcha?
