We're relatively new to the region and were happy to learn about Turlock's large Assyrian community and of course their yummy restaurants :) We got a spicy eggplant and tomato appetizer, chicken kebab combo, and lamb shank, plus dessert of baklava and Turkish coffee. Everything was delicious and generously portioned. In fact the lamb shank was enough to feed a small family, and I happily took most of it home. The baklava was some of the best I've had anywhere. Great service time! The whole restaurant was simple and cleanly. The music choice was well picked and calming. The menu was easy to order from, not an overload of options. There were amazing combinations of flavors in the Zereshk Polo. The saffron rice with the little red berries, cilantro, and onions what very refreshing and new. The chicken was cooked perfectly; moist and tender with very flavorful but not chewy or unsettling textured fat. It melted in my mouth. Wonderful place to eat! We sat outside, the patio area in front is decorated with live plants and nice roomy table and chairs. This is a family run restaurant, the owner and Daughter were such gracious hosts; they are wonderful and you can see they have a passion for the food they create. My wife and I could not have asked for better service. We started with the hummus that is made fresh with garbanzo beans, garlic, fresh lemon juice, topped with olive oil, paprika and black olives; by far the best I have ever had. We also had the grape leaf dolma which was hand made with rice, beef, chopped onions, dill, topped with tomato paste and side garlic yogurt; absolutely perfect. We moved onto our entrees, my wife had the beef soltani and I had the lamb; both were perfectly cooked. Both dishes were served with white rice, barbecued tomato and jalapeno. For desert we had the baklava and Shole zard, both were fantastic. This is a must go to place when you are in Turlock, I look forward to visiting again! Highly recommend. read more

We ordered and we called an hour in advance to tell them we will pick up the food at 6:30 because we are driving from a far away place. Craving some halal food this place came up on yelp. We had ordered the chicken kabob combo and the chicken kabob plate They are supposedly supposed to close at 7PM but when we arrived at 6:35PM the sign was turned off and the lights turned off inside. The door was open and when I walked it I asked if they had closed already, and was ready to apologize for keeping them waiting, instead the lady replied we no longer taking orders. We told here we were there to pick up our order and she said she only has two gyros for us. I repeated my order to her and she replied I only have two gyros for you and that some other lady came to take our order already. I repeated to her that is not our order and that we did not want to take it. She once again told us she has two gyros for us and that is all she has for us. Not only was she not listening to us but she was really rude in her demeanor and manner in which she spoke with us. I told my fiancée lets just leave. I am honestly never returning or would recommend this place. They have no customer service, are rude and were trying to force us to take food we did not order. After we left they called to tell us they called the other customer, who had taken our food and was going to bring it back and if we wanted it. today I decided to try this restaurant since I have been craving Mediterranean food. When I first walked in, it was very clean and nice and smelled delicious. When I was ready to pay for my meal, I noticed that I had forgotten my debit card at my home. I am not sure if this is a family owned place but the employees there were very, very friendly. anyways, I mentioned that they had Apple Pay but they said no, I was going to have my mom give me my debit card numbers and enter it in my Apple phone so I can pay. One of the employees there said just take the food and come back and pay later, I was very surprised to hear that. honestly that was very nice of them to say and really appreciate it. there are still nice people out there in this world. thank you again to all your stuff - my food was delicious I got the lamb chops with chicken, and could I have been more satisfied than I am now. Even if you couldn't get anything else, I say, make your way over for the dolmas! This is the second time I've had the herb/vegetable stew. Both times I've had it, my mind has been blown. I can taste the love that it's made with. There isn't enough I can say about the food!! The restaurant is cute! The patio out front is so nice and relaxing.
