From my dad: Daughter was leasing a 2019 Santa Fe. Lease had come due, and she ended up buying the vehicle. Came by the house, and I was finishing up an oil change, and rotation on the wifes car. I said let me look it over. Said she just had an oil change 2-3 months ago ago at the dealer. Ok, so I open the hood, and the first thing I notice is the coolant resevoir is bone dry. Pull the dipstick, and the oil is coal black, and is shearing on the dipstick. Brake fluid is about 2" low in the master cylinder. Told my daughter all this, and she could not believe it! I told her no more dealer, as long as I can do it. Topped everything off, and has been good. Just changed oil yesterday, rotated tires, of which she will need 2 new tires, because they never rotated them at all, with 41,000 on the odometer. Also, she needs a set of brakes, which I will install myself. That is why the master was so low. After an inspection yesterday, brakes tomorrow! Going to this dealer, and give the service manager a piece of my mind! Told my daughter if you had kept taking that car there, you would NOT have a car in less than a year! I went in to Patrick Hyundai hoping to leave with a new Palisade. I started texting earlier in the week looking specifically for a 2nd row bench seat. I received a text saying they were able to find one. I went in to test drive and negotiate a fair price. They don't negotiate. They just move numbers around. I did my research and knew what I was doing and they tried to confuse me. They proceeded to tell me it was the only Palisade with a 2nd row bench seat in a 250 mile radius. That was total b.s. because after walking out, I did find others at another area dealership. They also try to scam on trade-in. The poor couple next to me wanted to trade in their vehicle for a new purchase. The dealership would not match a Carmax quote and suggested the couple go sell their car to Carmax while Patrick Hyundai starts the paperwork on a new purchase. Unbelievable! My 2017 Genesis dies on a weekly basis, if not more. There is obviously something wrong with the computer system but every time I bring it to Patrick Hyundia they can't find anything wrong. Obviously they are not checking it out. If it's not the battery, started or alternator then what is it. They need to dig deeper but do not. Had it jumped yesterday and it's dead again today. The great warranty Hyundia has is useless if they can't fix my car. Is it Patrick Hyundia that doesn't care or are they unqualified. After buying 5 cars from Patrick Hyundai, my family and I have finally decided to ditch Patrick and Hyundai altogether. Their Sales department is terrible. Rip-off prices on cars that have major mechanical breakdown, and a brand that doesn't back their product. Not to mention the sharky sales experience every time you walk in the door. Make sure you hold on to your pennies, this dealership will definitely reach into your pocket for you. After unknowingly purchasing a Tuscan with a nationwide class action suit, as well as a major oil consumption problem, I have received little to no effort on Hyundai's part to fix the problem. Even when they sold me the car that way and in the first place. Would not cover an engine oil consumption problem on a car under 100k miles. Told me: "These cars are known to do this, Hyundai might or might not cover it." They didn't. Total engine replacement was more than the car was valued. Lost 6k selling the car, not to mention the 1k down payment. Buyer beware - if you want a car that lasts, a brand that respects their customer, and backs their product; don't buy a Hyundai or buy from Patrick. Went here again to look for a car for my son since his was totaled on his base in North Carolina. I spotted a car I liked on the internet and emailed the sales guy (Dave Polcik) that I worked with before. I told him if you can get me this car for a certain price out the door, I would buy it. Dave Polcik called me back to tell me come on in, lets get this done. I left a deposit with him to hold the car until the next day which they let me do. I also told them to get me out of there as soon as possible the next day, which they did again. The used car manager who's name was Dave also, was excellent to deal with. We signed all the papers in the Finance manager's office in about ten minutes and we were gone. If GUS ROZOS is your service advisor ask for another one immediately because he charged us for something we didn't ask him to fix and wouldn't fix the issue that we brought up. On top of a disrespectful service advisor, the service desk associate, Aubrey, was just as rude and disrespectful to me. BUYER BEWARE!! I have purchased 2 new cars from Patrick within the past 3 years. Yesterday (7/11), I went in to trade my 2022 Sonata NLine and purchase a 2022 Sonata Limited. Unfortunately, their trade in offer was extremely low ($31,000) and they had mandatory add-ons listed in the price of the new car - I didnt think anything of it, seeing as these same mandatory add-ons were on my NLine I purchased two months prior. The numbers wouldn't work out, so I went to a number of other dealerships. In doing so, I realized the questionable practices and "mandatory" add-ons that Patrick makes customers pay for when purchasing a new car. First car from them in 2019, they forced us to purchase the tire and wheel package, trim, and window etching and said that was mandatory and part of the deal to get the pricing. This time they made us again purchase key replacement, trim protection, and window etching. These are just additional predatory tactics to increase their bottom line and essentially wipe out any dealer incentives (first responder and/or veteran discount). We mistakenly purchased 2 new cars from Patrick in the past 3 years and thankfully they helped make the decision for us on our 3rd. We won't be back to purchase any more cars from Patrick seeing how they treat Veterans and loyal customers. I highly recommend exploring other Hyundai dealerships before making your purchase. I was victim to not knowing there was something better out there because I appreciated the convinience of proximity. Let me tell you, it is worth exploring your options. The other dealership was absolutely fantastic! The other dealership gave me a reasonable amount on my trade ($34,000) and I managed to walk out of their finance department with a brand new Sonata Limited (see attached photos) with NO add-ons. The trip to the alternate Hyundai dealership saved me in excess of $6,000 compared to Patrick. That is how it is supposed to work!!! Seriously, don't buy your new car from Patrick. read more

I was very disappointed with my experience at Patrick Hyundai. The gist- they were Johnny on the spot trying to get us into the dealership and then never contacted us after the car we wanted was sold (details below). Plus, some shady business practices made our experience less than stellar at Patrick. I would only go to Patrick if I were well educated on the car market, the specific car I wanted, and the pricing on their used cars. If you're a newbie like us, skip Patrick Hyundai. _________________________________________________________________ We were looking for a specific car and found one at Patrick Hyundai. We went in to test drive it, and our sales rep was eager. He printed out the CarFax and was willing to look up information about the car/ ask his manager for further explanation on a couple of things. We left the dealership almost 100% certain that we would be buying the car two days later. That Wenedasay (two days later), I called around 12:45 p.m. to make sure the car was still available and was assured the vehicle was available. Made the awful rush hour drive to Schaumburg from the city. When we arrived, we had some more questions, so we sat to ask them. After getting the answers, we were ready to buy, and our sales rep came back to the table with a manager that said the car had sold earlier. It was incredibly inconvenient that we had to rush to the dealership during rush hour for a car that was sold. They can't possibly be selling so many cars they didn't know this particular vehicle was sold. On a cold Wednesday in February- come on! We were particularly annoyed because we were not told that there was an opportunity to put down a 100% refundable downpayment on a car if you're thinking about it. However, here is the shady part- When the manager came with our sales rep to tell us the car was sold, he mentioned that they had an "almost identical vehicle coming in next Wednesday, and it had almost identical specs and milage." He further suggested that we put "down a deposit, or that vehicle could also be sold from under us." Um, ok. So now you mention the 100% refundable deposit? And now all of a sudden there is an 'almost identical vehicle" coming in from another Patrick dealership? By the way, we checked their website a week later, and there was no "almost identical" car available online. SHADDIEST part? When the manager and our sales rep came back to let us know about this new car, the manager had printed the MSRP for another vehicle in the lot. It was a vehicle that we had already seen and was not interested in. The manager had the nerve to tell us that he would be willing to 'compromise' and give us the same price we were going to pay for the car we wanted because of the 'mix up.' Great, right? Except for the car he was talking about was already $500 under the price of the car we originally wanted. The manager actually manipulated an MSRP printout to have a higher price. Something that is easily verifiable by a client- just by checking out the true value site to know the price they should have honored. All in all, it made it very difficult for us to want to return to Patrick and purchase from them. We ended up getting a Tucson from another dealership with 11K fewer miles and a higher tier for about the same price as the one that 'got away.' Thank you, Patrick Hyundai, for giving us such a bad experience that we went elsewhere to find the perfect car for our family. read more

I took my car in for a repair. When my car was ready for pick-up, I came in to pick it up. The check sent from my insurance straight to the dealership for the supplemental estimate was lost and took a whole day to find it at the dealership. As a result, I had to pay with a credit card since they could not confirm whether the check was received or cashed by Patrick Hyundai Dealership. I called my Insurance company, and they confirmed that the check that was sent to the dealership was cashed. So, Patrick Hyundai received payment from my insurance company AND from my credit card. They received double payment. Then even after I did a 3-way with my insurance company representative and the representative from hyundai, they STILL COULD NOT CONFIRM they they received the money EVEN AFTER we just got off the phone with state farm saying their systems show the check was cashed my Patrick Hyundai! Lastly, it's 4pm and the hyundai representative tells me the department that checks to see if checks are cashed is closed, even though the service department is open until 7pm. The people at the dealership will talk to you nice, but they are all so disorganized and they are full of empty promises! Beware, if you have any problem greater than just a simple oil change, you will likely walk out very annoyed and angry. The service at the dealership has steeply declined. I give a 2-star instead of 1 because they did give me a loaner car for the 12 days it was at dealership. read more

So when I decided upon a new Veloster N and began my search for one, I was braced for the worst. But I have to say my experience in purchasing my car from this dealership was very good. We were able to arrive at a fair deal quickly and the overall process from sales to financing was reasonably painless for a new car purchase. Everyone I dealt with there was friendly and straight up. Extremely disorganized. When I purchased my car from them I had set up an appointment. I live an hour away. Half way through my drive they called to tell me the car I wanted to purchase wasn't available that day. After much discussion they had the wrong vehicle scheduled for me to drive. I was able to buy the car I wanted. I set up an appoint to have undercoat and paint protector services done (things I paid extra for) showed up for my appointment and have been waiting for over 30 minutes to even be serviced let alone get my loaner. They double dealed AFTER SIGNING AND TAKING A DEPOSIT. I went to the dealer and sincerely negotiated a price for a car. We agreed to the price of the car and the trade in, SIGNED A CONTRACT AND EVEN PUT DOWN A DEPOSIT. They had to have the car prepped and inspected, so a few days later I was on my way to trade the cars and finish the paperwork and THEY THEN CALL ME BACK AND CHANGE THE PRICE OF THE DEAL BY $6,000!!! The excuse was a BS, "we made a mistake and gave you too good of a price". What is the point of a negotiation if the price i literally signed an agreement on and put a deposit on is not worth anything. I have done hundreds of negotiations in my life, but I have never dealt with a more dishonest institution. I live in the area and in the past purchased 2 cars from Patrick and recommended many friends to do the same. I would now highly recommend against dealing with Patrick. read more

Made Appointment 2 weeks to get oil change. 1 was 1 st in line. The 3rd person in line did not have an appointment. The service agent told him that there were 70 people ahead of him and they could not fix it today. The customer sayid we will see about that. The service manager took him 1st and her was out of the dealer :15 minutes before me. So I asked and the service manager said he is a friend so he goes 1st. **BEWARE OF THE SERVICE DEPT** My car was in for an engine replacement that took 8 months. Not one time did I ever hear from my service advisor. The only follow up I received was when I called to inquire about my car. I was sent a video of my car showing me it was running. In the video it stated my service advisor would be reaching out to me. I didn't get a call from my service advisor until two days after the video was sent. What a way to initially tell me my vehicle was ready after having it for 8 months I pull into the service dept and got out of the loaner. I'm immediately told by the service advisor my keys and paperwork are at the cashier station and what stall my vehicle was parked in. I would think after having my car for 8 months, they would've pulled my car in and went over what was done. Not to mention it was raining. I get in my car and it smelled horrible. The smell of antifreeze and oil was overwhelming. When I go to drive off my brakes sounded horrific. After sitting for eight months in the rain, sleet and snow not being moved, you would think they would've checked that out. I'm sure the heard it when the test drove the car, or did the test drive it? I was told the noise should go away once I arrived home since I live an hour and fifteen minutes from them. I never looked over my vehicle because it was raining. The next morning I look under my hood to find my engine cover broken up and they had the nerve to put it back on without replacing it. Not to mention they spilled oil and antifreeze under my hood and didn't bother to clean it up. That explained why the inside of my car smelled that way. Under my hood was nasty. Could they have power washed under my hood after replacing the engine? I guess that's to much for them. My antifreeze wasn't filled back up to where it was supposed to be. Someone tried to pry my front passenger door open. Also, someone got to close too something and damaged my front bumper. My backup camera has a blue screen. I have a hole in my driver's seat. Someone must've had a sharp object in their pocket when the sat down. Grease marks from the mechanic was all over my inside driver door, so I know they never washed my car. My rims were also black. ​Last year I had my USB replaced so I asked Saul the service advisor to have them take a look at it because it stop working again after using it on time. He assured me it was tested with 3 different cords and it worked fine. I also, wanted to make sure the recall was done to which he advised it was done also. I took my car back immediately after looking it over and spoke to Rich Fail. He tried to tell me my car came into them with my engine cover broken (what a joke). He also stated they were to busy and short staffed for my vehicle to be cleaned. The damage to my door and front bumper he tried to advise was like that also. I told him to pull up the pictures they took of my entire car when it was dropped off and I can assure him those damages weren't there. They couldn't locate the photos of my vehicle. Rich apologized and assured me my concerns would be taken care of if I left my vehicle. I went to pick my vehicle up Saturday 10/15/22 and dealt with Jim Gruman who has horrible customer service skills and he's the service manager. He walked me to my car and showed me where he tried to fix the door dent and my front bumper. He told me my engine cover was ordered and I needed to come back to have it put on. Mind you I live one hour and fifteen minutes from them. Why would you not keep the car until everything was done? My car looked the same as when I dropped it off. When I asked about them cleaning under my hood, his response was "I did the best I could." Which was nothing. He stated the checked my breaks and they were fine. It was my tires making the grinding noise. I guess he thought since I'm a women I was stupid. I told him Rich assured me after driving my vehicle himself he would change the breaks as a courtesy. This service department is a joke! I tested my USB port with two different chargers and neither one worked. I asked Saul whom told me he checked it with three different chargers to come show me it works. He plugged in the charger and to my surprise it did not work. He looked dumb founded and told me it worked when he tried it previously. Stop the BS!!!! At this point I don't even believe they changed the USB. There is no way it worked one time and never worked again if it was brand new. I was beyond frustrated and Jim Gruman did nothing but give me attitude and tried to make me feel as if I wanted something for nothing. I asked for my new paperwork and he stated they would email me. I didn't accept that. It took him 40 min to get me the paperwork. He also, came back with my engine cover he stated wasn't in. Trust the reviews and stay away!!! read more

I am updating my review since I bought my vehicle and have had to interact with their service department. First, I received a notice that there was a recall for a wiper blade on my 2023 Hyundai Palisade. I also received a call from the dealership...great, right? So I asked when I could schedule a service and was told the part was not in yet and they would contact me when it was. I waited about 6 weeks. I called them back and was transferred to the service department. They still did not have the part. I asked if they had any idea when it was coming in. The service rep stated he did not know. So I called Hyundai America to find out for myself (since nobody in the Patrick Service Department seemed to care) when the part will be in. They told me they would look into it for me and get back to me. They called me the next day and told me the part was in at Patrick and someone from Patrick was going to call me to schedule an appointment. Cool! So I waited two days and no phone call. Finally, I called them back and they initially told me they didn't have the part! When I told them I contacted Hyundai America the person on the phone said "Wait, let me check." Shortly thereafter, VOILA, the part was there and I could schedule my appointment. So I did. I scheduled it for 1:15pm on a Thursday the following week. When I arrived, nobody greeted me (even though 4 service attendants gave me blank looks). I finally approached someone and received help. I asked about how long it would take for the service. They did not know because there were "4 cars on racks and 4 more cars ahead of me." I told them I had scheduled a 1:15 appointment and they said that's just a "window" for service advisement- not actually when they would work on my car. Huh? I've owned many cars in my life and never heard of this (neither did my father-in-law, who worked in the service department of a car dealership for 20 years). Anyway, I was told they would call me when it was done. I left the dealership. Around 5pm, my wife told me to call them and find out the status. Got a hold of the service rep I was dealing with and he said he called and texted me at around 3pm...even left a message on my voicemail. Narrator: He did not. I do not know who he called and texted but it was not me. Anyway, I love the car itself (even though I overpaid for it during the car shortage crisis), but their service department is not friendly, lacks knowledge, and are extremely slow and unresponsive to customer needs. read more

I brought my vehicle in for service today. I was told it was going to be quite a long waiting period maybe (4+ hrs) and it was completed in 3 hrs. Mike was very upfront and kept me informed as I patiently waited. The building is currently being remodeled so the waiting area is a little loud; but they offer cold water, coffee, snacks, TV and wif. Did my research on sedans. The usual suspects. Accord, Camry, Sonata, etc. Went to Patrick Hyundai and met with Ron. Found him to be transparent and sincere. He spent 2 hours with me, with no assurance that I would buy. In fact I told him I was doing my due diligence and was not ready to buy that day, and he I felt gave me the same attention as if I said I was ready to buy. About a month later I decided that Sonata was the right car, and again Ron was excellent. Yes there was some back and forth discussion about price with him and his Manager but that is to be expected. Throughout though it was done professionally and without feeling it was "us against them" kind of scenario that I have experienced here and there when shopping for a car. I got the right car, at a fair price, got treated very well during the process. Roy the Business Manager same thing. This dealership has a good atmosphere and they hire people that make it so. Buyer beware!! I've been back 15 times for the same issue on my 2022 Santa Cruz in less than 90 days of having it! Hyundai and especially Patrick Hyundai could care less!! Trying to blame my phone, no accommodations, nothing.. I currently have my 5th loaner so there will be a 16th visit. . ONLY service manager is helpful but can only do so much. A tech has videotaped the problem at their dealership and cannot fix the issue after replacing the unit twice! WORST customer service experience I have ever had. Can't get assistance from anyone at Hyundai!! Sales manager Scott at PATRICK HYUNDAI is also aware and will not assist, said call customer care! They don't return calls. Don't go here! The only metric for this dealer is how many emails and text messages they send you. People emailing "I'm here to help" and you email them back but it's crickets, no answers. Their Patrick Promise taking care of you every day, is more like ignoring you every day. We purchased a vehicle there and they kept talking about this "amazing" deal in their service coupon book. They were out of them when we got our car but promised to send us one. And 3 months later guess what, still out of them. And now there is some app for it that is pointless. Both the service department and our salesman can't tell me what is in the book so I don't even know what I was supposed to get. When we were talking to the finance department, my wife and I were in masks and the person comes in, closes the door to the small office and then says "I'm more comfortable taking my mask off ok" and my wife and I looked at each other and were both thinking "Um no, this is where you should have it on!" Go elsewhere! My Hyundai has been burning a quart of oil every thousand miles. Called them about it because I'm still under warranty "you'll have to bring it in for an oil consumption test". fine no biggie. Got there and they said "oh this model doesn't burn oil, so you're not covered and have to pay for the test". It DOES burn oil, maybe not as frequently as other models you're watching for, but that's hardly a selling point for your lousy cars: "these ones aren't as shitty as the others normally". If my engine and trans are warranties to 100,000 miles, and I'm complaining of mine burning oil... do the Damn test. Instead, they tried strong arming into trading my turd of a car in for a newer piece of shit. I said several times I just want mine LOOKED at. Was refused. I now go to the dealer in Elgin, where I didn't even buy my car just to avoid these schmucks. Thanks for nothin, Patrick. read more
