Had the WORST experience at this amateur hour excuse for a dealership over the past two weeks, and would warn ANYONE away from doing business at this dishonest place. Made an appointment to drive a used GTI I found on cars.com. I drove 40 minutes to the appointment, after Patrick VW reminded me to come in by email and by text. Got there to find myself the victim of a bait and switch. The frat boys who work here said "uhh, sorry, the car's not here -- our manager took it for the weekend. I'm soooo sorry, no one will drive it until you can! But we do have new GTIs you can test drive..." So I did. Liked them alright but still wanted to drive the used one -- they promised they'd have it for me the next Saturday. This time, I emailed to confirm the car would be there. Matt, the guy who didn't have the car the first time, said yes, it will be there (no apology, either). I once again got a reminder email and text from Patrick VW (ha! The hypocrisy is real.). Once again, drove 40 minutes on a weekend day to drive this car, and was ready to buy despite the bad first experience. 5 minutes before I arrive, my cell phone rings -- it's Matt. He's confirming that I'll be there at the agreed time. I said of course I will -- I confirmed with YOU on Wednesday that the car will be there. And then he tells me it isn't. The car isn't there. It's "being driven." The level of incompetence and disrespect for customers here is UNBELIEVABLE. No one seems to care, at all. When I did get there, they confessed the manager again took the car for the weekend and that they "were busy training a new girl all week" and "forgot you were coming in." (WHAT?!?!? AGAIN?!?) Then they pushed me to buy a new car instead (bait and switch for the second time). I drove to two more dealerships and bought a car that day. Don't waste your time or energy dealing with dishonest, smarmy car salesmen at this dump when there are other, better dealerships around -- Wellesley VW being one of them. read more

The service manager is completely unprofessional, Denise will track you down on LinkedIn if her feelings get hurt. Dear Mr. Patrick, I am writing to tell you of my recent experience purchasing a "certified" 2009 Volkswagen GLI at your dealership in Auburn in April. It is quite possible that no one ever looked at the vehicle; Period. Let me start out with the shining star of your dealership, Service. The rotors were shot as well as the pads (something that I had brought to the attention of the salesman shortly after the sale), so they did the right thing and replaced them, all. Job done right and they did what they said they would do and in the time they said. The Service area seemed to have it together but I am pretty sure that the brakes would have been examined during certification. Before I go more into the mechanical, my problems began with the financing. Upon close inspection of my documents, I found that there was an extra charge approaching $500. The first time I asked about it was when I was getting the brakes taken care of, and the apparent manager (seated at the off-putting slightly higher table adjacent to the bathroom and eyeballing customers without making contact - pretty much a boys club with hushed chit-chat and laughter that was only privilege to them. Odd for a service business) had said that that was just a subtotal of the tax, registration, doc fees etc. and for the moment, I accepted his word. Then, like I said, upon further inspection and re-adding the numbers countless times, I called the dealership. After a spirited discussion, it was called "just a mistake" and I was issued a check but let's be serious. You are self-described professionals. As far as the certified condition of the vehicle: 1. I replaced the front tires because on close inspection there were bulges in the side walls and a screw in the driver's side. ($430) 2. Trim attached securely- As part of the negotiation prior to agreeing to buy the vehicle, the trim on the driver's side was partially detached, as it still is. Many emails and texts were sent to the salesman asking for time to address this as well as the other issues that were promised to make the sale but Scott was evasive and full of excuses (see more below) 3. It was my understanding that an extra key comes with a certified vehicle- not mine, although it was promised by the salesman multiple times (When I can afford it, the key is about $300) 4. I had the oil changed because no one could tell me when the last or next one was ($80) 5. The indicator lever sticks, especially in the rain, so you end up looking like a fool after you change lanes on the highway by wiggling it back and forth to get it to stop. I can't wait to be in front of a cop and signal right, then left, then right, then left and.... 6. I was flat out lied to that the car had a clean CarFax and after shaking hands on the sale I was presented with a CarFax and an apology that included "well, it's only minor" 7. Possibly due to the undisclosed damage, but I can not say, but when it rains water collects into the right rear tail light assembly and dumps into the trunk when the trunk door is opened. Nice touch. 8. The passenger headlight assembly or bulb is loose so the light shakes on the road in front of the car but it's not as much of a distraction as the headlight on the driver's side which is stuck in high beam mode. 9. I supposedly paid a charge of $600 (built into the price of the car, per Scott) in order to have the rigorous process of certification. 10. There were unending promises of a loaner if I ever needed service (which I could not schedule with Scott, or when I did, he would not call at the specified time, or call three days later and present me with some excuse why it couldn't be this time - but we would plan again). The loaner was apparently not available at any time in order to schedule my service. Scott had excuse after excuse after excuse. No follow through. And wouldn't you think that someone in a higher capacity would speak with a customer who just spent nearly $20k to see if things were being handled right as some sort of quality assurance/follow-up? I asked Scott, the salesman, repeatedly to schedule time, any time, to get the key and have the trim fixed and to address the items in which I was promised to make the sale. If you would like copies of the texts/emails I will gladly send them to you but you will be able to read them in any case as soon they will be part of a wider dispersion of this letter (I've been busy). I am writing to tell you of my experience. For me, I just have to accept the fact that someone actually lied to make a sale and that your claims of "certified" are empty. I am the proud owner, and you made your sale, but I do not have to return. I do however feel it's necessary to share my experience on social media through review pages as well as at least making the BBB aware of my experience so that people can have an idea of the type of operation you run; that you have no problem telling someone anything just to make a sale. read more

I never had a problem with these guys until last week. Brought my car in for a small repair (starter) and while doing the repair they basically look over your whole car to squeeze more money out of you. They also mentioned my radiator was leaking, which was unusual. They told me my car was ready for pick up, drove with my wife 25 miles to pick it up, only to find it sitting in a puddle of radiator fluid and was NOT drivable. Told them they obviously broke the radiator while putting in the starter since I could see the leak was on that side of the radiator and wanted them to fix it at their cost. They only offered a discount repair. I told them that was unacceptable, had the car towed to another garage, where they called up and said it was obvious that Patrick VW broke the radiator. I will be contacting the BBB to send a formal complaint. read more

Went to look at a used Saab. Friendly sales people, a little pushy but not out of the ordinary. Got to talking numbers on the car, and they refused to budge off their 'already very good' price, which was some $2k more than the value indicated by the big 3 valuation websites (edmunds, kbb, nada). Then, they look at my trade in, and made a down right insulting offer on it ($3500 less than the big 3 valuation), and refused to budge. This dealer looks like they're hoping for uneducated consumers to walk in the door, be fed a line, and fall for their sales tactics. Don't go looking for even an average deal here, there isn't one to be had. read more

Terrible service department. DO NOT BUY OR USE THEM FOR SERVICE! I scheduled an appointment to replace my brake pads and rotors. I confirmed the appointment on a Tuesday and scheduled work off. They called me to reschedule and claimed that they had a mixup. I had to tell work I actually needed Wednesday off instead. I get to Patrick and sit for about 1 hr while they check my brakes. They tell me that I will need to reschedule because they don't have the parts they need. It is inconceivable to me how a business could not check to make sure they have the necessary parts in advance. I explained this to the woman and just got blown off. I have decided to permanently take my business elsewhere as a result. If I felt that anyone over at Patrick VW would care, I would call and tell them about my experience. I cannot imagine how their service department got its certification from VW. I purchased a brand new car from them and it's out of alignment! Ok, that happens. They agreed to align my car with their brand new "state of art" alignment station. Guess what, it still pulls to right after they spent the entire afternoon with my car and they cannot figure it out. Locked in a price on a jetta I didn't get to see because they didn't have the color I wanted. And of course for their lowest price, I had to put a deposit on something I never got to see. Next time I am paying nothing until I see it in front of me. Or just go to a different dealership and see what they have. So finally got it in, and it's not really in new condition... it has a big stain on the passenger side seat and even after deep cleaning... it was STILL there. Then I bring it home... at already 250 miles and the panel is popped out. How is this a brand new car?? The service team is really nice and ordered a part for me immediately. Managers are the worst of the worst and don't even try to seem to care. "Dan Garney is the definition of standard management when it comes to car dealerships. He's a hard ball type of person. Doesn't like confrontation and seems to try to steer through corners to not be evidently clear. We bought a car from this dealership. Both management and sales person involved dropped the ball. Not only was the car not clean upon arrival but I had to ask 3 different times to get them to clean the things I asked them to do prior to buying the car. Then they tried to say we didn't have it in writing so right there. Standard Manager. I wouldn't recomend going here due to the hassle Dan Garney provided me and the amount of run around logistic explanations he gave to me. Fun fact. They CAN issue gift cards to VW dealerships. However, they will tell you it takes 30days. They just want to see if you will remember or hassle them for the hundo. Do your self the favor. Skip this dealership unless it's the only place that has your car then RIP pay a better dealer for a transfer and deal with ANYONE else but this man and his yokels." This car buying was for my sister and she didn't feel comfortable or confident during any of the buying process due to the way they handled the entire transaction. I have nothing but good things to say about Patrick. I've been a customer for over five years and have taken my 2007 GTI to them for regular oil changes and small things here and there. I go to my local european mechanic for big ticket items since it's cheaper, but Patrick is more convenient for smaller items. I usually wait for service to be done and they have plenty of seating, Wi-fi, a work area, and free coffee and water. I am consistently impressed with the service staff- they have more patience than I could muster, especially with some customers who are arguably in left-field. Keep up the good work. My wife and I came here to look at Sportwagens and were 51% sure we were looking at a TDI, but we test drove a TSI and liked it. We tried to buy a TDI holdover but they really pushed a great deal on a new TSI. I really like how fast things progressed and they found us a car in the color we wanted. It would have been five stars but I recently found out VW will not allow the sale of diesels. I guess they're concerned if they say that you'll walk.... read more

We bought a used Saab, a car with which we have been happy. The sales department, including Pawil, are nice enough, that makes the lies go down easier. I bought an extended warranty that was a $2800 rip-off based on a bald faced lie told by my sales guy (now no longer with Patrick) and backed up by Pawil. Now the sales department tells me (and my wife) that we are liars or mistaken. But they'll credit me $2000 on my next car purschase. So I'm guessing they think we are stupid. I actually liked the service department, although the mechanics are not the brightest bulbs. I was told I had a bad horn which needed replacing. Just a loose wire. Couple other examples. But the real mechanical item (suspension etc.) they did a decent job on. Despite this, the sales department rules the review. I will never use this dealship again. Can't recommend them either. I have been interested in a new or used VW Eos now for several months. However I cannot get ANYONE to call me back from the Auburn, MA dealership about availability. I have stopped by TWICE, called several times, was told a used one was coming in and they would call me back when it was on the lot, and then in October when I stopped a third time, was promised a call by Thanksgiving (!). Nothing! No calls - no contact. The sales/customer service at that dealership is so bad that I will never buy a car there. They also have a rule about not being able to get a loaner car when your car is in for service if you DID not buy the car there. Which is very annoying since they make it impossible to buy a car from them. I have a Saab, which I bought elsewhere because they never got back to me with a manual transmission car to test drive. Is there any way that I can register an official complaint against this dealership? I am deeply disappointed in them and as a result VWs in general. read more

I was referred to these guys by a close friend of mine and the actual car buying experience was incredibly smooth. It's a family business and I felt like my needs were met and never felt strong armed. Matt and Aaron were fantastic. The only reason I'm not giving them 5 stars is I had to wait much longer than anticipated to sign the final paperwork with their Finance guy. The option for additional add ons during signing (tire coverage etc) were pushed pretty hard but I know they have to ask. Overall I would go back to them for my next VW. read more

Great service department!! I brought my jetta in for service. I got right In service was done when I expected it to be. I had a bubble in my tire that I didn't notice. We've been costumers since 2007. My husband bought his first VW a Jetta, back in 2007 when he graduated college. We got married had kids and in 2012 we upgraded to the Tiguan with baby #2 and now with baby #3 we are keeping the Tiguan and we'll upgrade my husband's Jetta to the Atlas and we were going to buy through them since we had a positive experience with this dealer and service, everything was fine until yesterday when I took my car for an oil change. I was then advised I needed new tires on the front and that the two in the back were fine but one had a nail in it and it was in a place where he couldn't plug it, so I would have to change the 4 tires. I was asked what I was going to do and I decided to make an appointment to come back since they didn't have the tires I wanted in stock. They put the donut on and off I went. I called my husband and told him what happened and he was surprised because my tires were only a year old but with the roads being so bad he said it was possible and if that one tire couldn't be plugged we would have to replace them all. My husband comes home and check my tires he was disgusted by their dishonesty and couldn't believe they put me on a donut when I had two little kids in the car when there was no need to do so, he plugged the tire himself. Never ever coming back to this place. I would like to point it out though that Macy is a sweetheart and I wish her the best. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had. First, when I got an appointment to fix my odometer/speedometer and get my inspection sticker, I was told they would have to order the part, fine. But, when it came time to get my sticker, the mechanic informed me that I needed new rear brakes at a cost of $450. Consequently, I left. I got a second opinion on the brakes....they were FINE, they had just been done less than a year prior. Second visit: Returned on Sept. 12, as the part for the odometer had come in. Was told after waiting over half an hour, that it was the wrong part, and they would have to do another diagnostic examine at a cost of $123 as this is their charge per hour. So, because of their error I would have to pay for their mistake, not happening. Told them to go ahead with the sticker. Came back with a list of other things that had to be done in order to get the sticker....light bulb for number plate, some lens for R/F, lens for L/F, and another cover of some sort...at a price of $312. As you can imagine, I left. I would not recommend this outfit to my worst enemy. read more

Completely incompetent group at Patrick. Just purchased an used diesel wagon which after one week of driving something didn't feel / sounds right. Brought it into service and they had it for 8 days replacing most of the front end suspension components. It's a CPO car and how on earth did this pass there " rigorous" inspection criteria. The trunk didn't shut right, the side door wasn't shutting right the rear bumper needed paint. I get it's an used car but having it be cpo certified means they went through and inspected and replaced any part needing attention. This was my 4th car and after being lied to by one of the owners ( Jim ), my diesel bought back due to diesel gate, my hybrid jetta transmission failing out of warranty and now this, I will not purchase anything else from here. Dan was the only thing looking up for this place and now that he is gone it is going back to its previous ways. Only a matter of time that the Patrick family will be in the news again for scamming innocent people. I am proof that quality is poor and CPO is just crap. They gamble on these cars being good and if they need repair VW pays them to fix it. So they could care less giving you an upfront decent running car. Just look at their turn around with enjoyment..: a joke!! read more

My wife and I are returning customers of Patrick Subaru... We have always had the best experience at Patrick Motors.. The sales department has always been very friendly and helpful.. When I walk into Patrick Subaru I am not bombarded by obnoxious salesmen as in most other dealerships.. I have never had any issues getting my subaru serviced at Patrick Motors either.. The service department has always been friendly and efficient.. Cant ask for much more than that.. I really cant say enough good things about Patrick Subaru, my wife and I have always had a great experience there.. We have referred many friends to Patrick Subaru and they have had the same positive experience...We will continue to be loyal customers in the future! read more

I have been calling for 3 months to get information on my extended warranty and every time I call I get a person and they say that my information is "lost in cyberspace" and transfer me to a different department whom NEVER answer the phone. What a horrible level of service and a real dissapointment. I will NEVER purchase another car from them again or even take my car in to be serviced here. Bought a car there and when we get home and look closely at the paperwork and discover that the price was WAY higher than we had discussed. Called the salesaman (Pawil) and he puts me off to then finance guy who is defensive IMMEDIATELY. I explain there must be a mistake and he gets very rude-"YOU SAW THE PAPERS ETC..." and he hangs up on me when I get terse and start explaining there is a MISTAKE! Finally get the "used car manager" to look it over and sure enough they had added some items twice on the paperwork, so no problem-we'll write you a check. When I asked for a breakdown of ALL the charges so i could see what had actually happened they were very not very forthcoming-The guy tells me that he'll e-mail it right over. That was three weeks ago and I'm still waiting. So he tells me over the phone what the charges are and what was "doubled" and the numbers still don't add up. I tell him this and THAT was when he tells me about the $300 "doc fee" that had NEVER been discussed and they definitely did not tell me about. I tell him I did not recall seeing the papers signed that had the fee on it as I don't have a copy, he tells me it was signed and I have no choice but to believe him as I'm still waiting for a copy of that as well. Even if it was signed I find it quite curious that that was the only paperwork we did not get a copy of. VERY DECEPTIVE!!! I now believe that this was all done on purpose (even the mistaken "doubling" hoping that we didn't notice. And that's not all. We were told by Pawil our salesman that the financing rate would be 6%. Direct quote-"the rate WILL be 6% if not lower." Well sure enough we get home and look at the paperwork closely and the rate is 8.25%. Shame on us for not looking closely at the paperwork-but we trusted them as they were very nice and friendly-that was up until the point that I drove the car away. All of this hassle of trying to figure out what happened took MANY days as they do NOT return calls. If I did not catch the person at their desk I quickly found out that they would NOT call back. I waited to write this review until I had a chance to talk to the owner, thinking perhaps he didn't know what his employees were up to. He does call me back after I have to call a different branch to ask for him as the Auburn store wasn't even answering their phone (caller ID?). I explained the situation and he was very nice and says he'll "look into it and call you tomorrow". That was Tuesday and it is now Saturday. BUYER BEWARE!!! Update- Well I finally got the owner on the phone. Basically told me I was out of luck, and I could tell he didn't even know what I was talking about as I had to explain to him again what had happened. He had not looked into it AT ALL. So I call back the used car manager and he tells me "I could have told you that!" Still have not received the check or copies of the paperwork for their supposed "mistake". Over a month now and I call DAILY and they simply do not return the call. I am calling the AG's office on Monday. You would have to be INSANE to do business with these people. Bought a used jetta there years ago. Sunroof leaked, it was under warranty. Brought it to get fixed, told me they couldn't see problem. It would soak my entire back seat, brought it back again (still under warranty) they couldn't find the problem. ....told me it must be "pine needles" getting stuck in the sunroof. I never parked my car near any pine trees. Brought it back again.......This time my warranty ran out...... and Like magic they found the issue with the sunroof (the rubber seal) and wanted to charge me 1300 to fix it, Even though it had been an existing problem. I had the unfortunate experience of purchasing there and they wouldn't fix it for free even though I brought it in three 3 times before my warranty expired. I have told everyone about them. I am in the market for a new vehicle (I like the touareg) I will never step foot in Patrick motors (they are only 15 miles from me). I'll travel elsewhere. Beware of this dealership. read more

I belong to a buying group, and was looking for a new VW. They send your information to a few local dealers with the understanding that they can contact you. Patrick Motors is like a dog with a bone- DO NOT give them your phone. They have called me 25 times. I called today and asked that they not call me anymore, bought a VW from Colonial. "Matt" who answered didn't care, no apology, no nothing. Just a big "whatever". Glad I went to Colonial. They actually care and offer good service too! read more

Very difficult place to deal with as far as service once they have gotten their money. When I went to pick up my car there was only one key but a certified used car is suppose to have 2 keys. They were insisting that I had to pay for another key but then finally after discussing the situation for about an hour they agreed to give us another key. They don't make things right quickly and they waste your time. I have gone there to have them fix my car and they will not have the parts necessary to fix it even though I call in advance they refuse to order the appropriate parts. You have to waste even more time going back yet again for another appointment. Long story short is that I would not recommend this place to a friend because you spend a lot of money on a nice car and they don't provide good customer service. Called on May 2015 and asked "Do you have a brand new Volkswagen CC with Manual transmission for me to try? I am coming from Connecticut". Their response: "Yes of course; come in". Got there and they only had a 2014. When complained for the enormous waste of time. Their response: "Well, they drive pretty much the same so I was gonna put you in a 2014 and then order a 2015 if you liked it"...Total BS, Lazy and below poor customer service. If it's the middle of 2015 and I asked for a brand new CC...what do you think I am referring to a 2014 or 2015? Had very simple request which I was ensured would be taken care of. I had called and told them what I wanted done during my 20k service over the phone AND in person.. They explained how they were going to fix the problem and what tools would be used ...after waiting 3 hours (by this time service has now closed) I get to my car and the problem still existed.. I came to yelp before making appointment and I should of listened to these reviews... Now I'll be traveling an extra 45 minutes to get the quality service I deserve !!! Eek! Methinks not. read more

I recently purchased a preowned 2014 Audi A4. They happened to have a manual, which is what I had my heart set on and they're extremely hard to find. The whole experience was wonderful. I did a ton of research ahead of time and the car was very aggressively priced. I can't remember my saleswoman's name but she was fantastic - very honest and patient with me. The sales process was easy and I could not be happier with my new car(it's 2 years old but in perfect condition, it seriously feels like new). On top of it, the warranty makes me feel very comfortable with my purchase. I couldn't believe they offered a 10 year, 100k mile warranty for a preowned Audi. It was better than the Audi dealership offered. I got the extra wrap warranty, which covers things like brakes and electrical as well. I highly recommend Patrick Motors and purchase from them again. read more

Learn from my experience... - they used deceitful phone tactics to get me into the showroom - didn't own up to verbal commitment - they danced around a direct question, "am I better off with $2500 off or 0% interest", leading me to the option that was not in my best interest ... rip up the paperwork and start over - when I brought my car in for detailing, it took an incredibly long time. A month or so later, I found broken glass in wheel well - so, that's what happened! Ooops, Patrick, you left evidence and a mess behind. - Rust appeared on the panel under the window that was broken. At least they owned up to this and agreed to fix it. Only problem, they told me it would take a few days, which led to 2 weeks, during which time they never returned my phone calls or called me to advise when I could expect to get my car back. There is no "Customer" Service here! - Was told the car was vacuumed and washed, so come pick it up. When I got there and opened the hatchback, the back was not vaccuumed - in fact, debris from the work was still there. Another mess the customer has to clean up! read more

My wife has taken our Subaru into Patrick twice in the past year, and both times the result was near disaster. The first time was an oil change, and they left the pan bolt loose. I found that out a week later after the car spilled a quart of oil on my garage floor. The next time was even more troubling. My wife took the car in for a recall, and they had to replace the catalytic converter. A week later, I drove her car on a trip to NH, and recognized a strange engine noise from my experience with older cars - the power steering fluid was completely empty, which can quickly damage the pump. It turned out there was no leak - either Patrick emptied it as part of the job and forgot to refill it, or did it intentionally to get a pump repair job. They denied any responsibility, but I don't believe it. Bottom line - don't trust these guys with your car. read more
