Patriot is impossible to schedule for the annual "routine VIP maintenance", as they schedule the routine maintenance (that has been paid for) behind other customers, so because we didn't get that done in time, we're going to be out big bucks. Patriot is a slimy company. They care about padding their bottom line, not about their customers. ----- Purchased AC in June 2021. Patriot replaced an evaporator coil already in 2024. What kind of crap did they install?!?!? Now, one month after 5 year warranty expires, need a new evaporator coil. Patriot DID NOT REGISTER THE Rheem A/C when installed or the replacement evaporator coil, which would have extended to a 10-year warranty. Our AC units were failing and the manager made it a point to come out right away - and to get the replacements installed one working day later so that we were back up and running as soon as possible. If I could give 0 starts I would. Please please please do not use them!!! They are just looking for a payday!! Definitely not honest!! I had them come out to clean our vents and dryer with the VIP service last week. There was a solid piece of ice on the coils of the AC in our basement. Immediately it spiraled down that your equipment is old and not working right. You need to replace or you have some expensive repairs. I was also told by Brian that my upstairs drip pan had mold growing. They also stated that both outdoor electrical systems had a bad cap and bad contactors. And also my one system for the basement needed 4-5lbs of R22 which is extremely expensive because it's discontinued. A little back story -we have 2 AC's/ furnaces. I was quoted with a bunch of repairs close to 6-8K for the 2 units of work or a $28,000 of a brand new system for both of our AC/ furnace replacement. In the work summary it stated that the filters were changed which they weren't. Once I brought it to their attention they stated they would talk to the owner and hear back on Monday which that never happened. According to Brian they don't cheat or steal from costumers yet they have already a little spiel for it. I was told in the beginning "oh well I seen you had some filters near the machine or we can drop one off". Not the point. I paid for VIP service so that was included. If it was stated in writing that it was done for both machines but they weren't and you even had filters near you that belonged to the costumer but didn't even bother replacing is ridiculous. That alone raises major flag of what else have they not done or lied about. Half an hr after Brian left to quote for brand new systems I had my AC guy that we absolutely trust and lord and behold everything was over exaggerated by Mike and Brian! Turned out there was no bad cap or bad contractors on either of the systems. I only needed 2 pounds of the R22 not 4-5 originally quoted at $350 a pound. We also found out that neither filters were replaced. Equipment was supposedly cleaned and vacuumed yet there was spiders webs and full of debris on the bottom of the equipment outside. Oh and not to mention that the only thing in the upstairs drip pan was rust!! No mold anywhere!! When I tried mentioning items to Brian he immediately got defensive and stated well we took pictures and Mike is right. Did the other person take pictures? I stated that they did one better they had me stay with them and showed me the gauges and explained everything to me so I was knowledgeable. The picture you took, that suddenly came up with, but did not send to me now or previously could have been taken anywhere!!! Also the text message at 9pm asking if we are going to go with the work but "no pressure" after he left my house at 5:30pm is absolutely ridiculous especially when I stated multiply times I would let him know the following day. After repairing, with my other AC guy, we no longer have an issue. So make that make sense. Having old equipment doesn't not make them crap. Things were made much better back then compared to today. They seen that we have old equipment and it was easy to just say everything is wrong with it and new will fix it all. People don't have $10,000-$30,000 out of nowhere of an expense just because. As a company it seems that you are more concerned about money than caring about a costumer that is just trying to take care of their house and are not looking for an anxiety attack because of the stress caused. There were a lot of other red flags not mentioned. Please if you use them do your research and get other quotes! Do not trust them until you get multiple eyes on it. It easy when you are worried to make a decision that was rushed because you didn't have enough time, pressured or believed you can trust them. Way to take advantage of people in the middle of summer. We got a second opinion and guess what? Our fan motor was perfectly fine. The second company that we had come out had my air fixed within 5 minutes ON THE FOURTH OF JULY for a total of $400 including service fee!!! Bill is unprofessional and dishonest! Do not hire Patriot! They came out for a routine inspection in December and were clearly trying to scam us. The inspector said we had a significant gas leak and needed a new regulator. He never did the soap test or used a meter. Now fast forward to yes. We noticed a gas smell throughout our house. My husband used his meter from work and found a gas leak in our furnace. We called ABT out to check it. They found that the inlet/ outlet for the regulator was never screwed back in entirely by the Patriot inspector. The regulator was excellent. Never again will we call Patriot! Please take my advice and call ABT. They are trustworthy, not patriot, who are trying to make a buck off you! *** UPDATE- This is not a fake review. We have had terrible service and customer service from Patriot. We had our air ducts, dryer vents and the furnace cleaned and checked as part of a 'VIP package'. The guy working on the furnace said there was a tiny gas leak so the valve needed changing for which we paid an additional $800+. Since then, we have had multiple issues and we have now learnt that it is all because of shoddy work done during the valve installation in the furnace. Our fan was running constantly (in Chicago winter) so we had our own furnace guy check and he realized that when the valve was installed, it was done wrong. The main wire was screwed in wrongly so the metal was exposed and was disconnected. Due to this, our AC was running non stop even though the thermostat was in heat mode. With the AC running non stop in the winter temperatures, there could be serious damage that we can only determine when the weather gets warmer. In the meantime, we have had to pay very high electricity bills (due to the AC running non stop) and may deal with a possible damage to the thermostat. These are serious repercussions caused due to bad workmanship from the technician and could have led to potentially dangerous situations in the house, not to mention the major costs we have had to other technicians and electricity. After calling and emailing Patriot multiple times over many weeks, I finally received a call back from someone claiming to be a manager who tried to convince me that my technician (known to me for 8 years) was wrong and the issue couldn't have been due to their work (I had even sent photos of the mishandled wire). They were going to check again and call me back and that has not happened. Noone has taken any responsibility or offered any support for the damages or taken any ownership of the issue. I have used Patriot Heating and Cooling Services as a partner HVAC provider for the past year and a half. Bill W. and his team do an incredible job in assessing the situation and making a reasonable recommendation and then working with you as necessary to get it done. I first used them in my previous house where, in the middle of Chicago winter, with a 92-year old in the house, our furnace died. Patriot responded quickly and installed our new unit the next day, despite the fact that I needed to arrange for funds to be available for payment. Bill and team saw the urgency and responded. I was already planning to move and did within 5 months of that purchase with a plan of using Patriot wherever I moved. I was part of their VIP program when they called me to renew from my old address. I explained that we had moved and I was about to call them for maintenance. They came out the next day to discover a gas leak in the furnace (the original from my house built in the 1990s). No wonder we were having all of those headaches! Time for a new furnace! This time I had the pleasure of dealing with Brian who laid out the specifics of purchase, warranty, installation, etc. and my new furnace was installed the next day again - there was an urgency. Two months later, our A/C was not working (again, the original). Now we are replacing it with a new unit, installed by none other than Patriot Heating and Cooling! As I stated in my Google review this company came out for an inspection in September and I was told the entire system was no good, everything from the system was to big to I have a large crack and scorching on the exchanger!! And most importantly I was subject to carbon monoxide poisoning!! If this was the case he was suppose to shut down the furnace, he didn't!! Left for 3 months and was going to deal with this when I got back. Came home motor would not work and the scare of Patriot 's analysis i decided to replace it. Removed the furnace, bo cracks, no scorching, the exact correct size furnace. I called on a Saturday morning (!) and spoke with Bill. I cringed at the question that I asked him: how to approach a situation of a child urinating in air vent..which were already dirty and who knows when they'd last been cleaned (not in at least 2 years since we'd moved in)?? Bill was very kind and offered some pro-tips about cleaning. He inadvertently talked me off of the ledge that I was on: I thought I needed immediate assistance. Ultimately, he suggested a carpet cleaning company. We had both our air conditioning and heat replaced on our townhouse last late fall. I was upfront on honest that that is not our forever home, we need service that was reliable but not looking to spend a ton of money. I was told all costs, time lines and what to expect. I was given a estimate in less than three hours when I was told by the end of the day. We now have used our unit all winter and the air a few times as well. My only complaint is the unit is much louder than our 21 year old prior unit and that is surprising. read more

We have the vip service and they came out and did the routine cleaning and check over. They installed the new furnace a year and a half ago but not the AC unit. The AC was working fine but in there routine cleaning and service check found that the AC was down 2 lb of freon and the capacitor was out of limits. On the recipe it said they cleaned the condenser washed it etc. since the AC was working fine I found it a little hard to believe it was low on Freon. I had a family friend who also is a HVAC specialist come over and check it out. We pulled the panel on the condenser and found it full of cob webs and the fins full of cotton wood fuzz. Put his gauges on it and by the way the Sevice port caps were not put back on. One was laying in the grass next to the unit and one was missing. His gauges read fine. Well within spec. No Freon needed and the unit was not cleaned up at all. I pulled leaves and other debris out of the unit. We put the service caps back on the unit and closed it up. Now we don't trust this company anymore or at least the technician that came out. read more

This is the second time Patriot heating and Cooling screwed us. My husband was duped into allowing these shysters into our home with their low cost furnace cleaning deal. They came in, declared our heat exchange cracked, advised us it would be fatal to continue to run it. My husband , lacking confidence in their business practice, sought a secondary opinion. Our trusted heating and cooling man at CTC heating and cooling used instrumentation to prove there was nothing wrong with our system. He also noted they didn't even clean our furnace! In the end, we PAID Patriot to come out and offer to screw us, never cleaned our system. Had to pay CTC to save us from being screwed. One would think they could drum up enough honest business and not be actively seek to dupe customers. My husband used to call weekly to request to speak to the business owner and ask for a refund for services not performed. Thieves won't respond. Be careful who you hire. ***Update - we absolutely did not have your company out again at a later date for another 79 bucks. How does that even make any coherent sense? To service a system your company declared unusable? You are the liar. Repeatedly calls indeed went unanswered. Same as your other victims. From reading all your other reviews, anyone can see the clear pattern. Even with your first sentence, "I usually don't reply". They both were so friendly and thorough in the cleaning. Jay cleaned out my dryer vent and found that the flexible dryer vent was broken at some places. I met Alex about a year ago. He was giving a presentation about Patriot Heating and Cooling, and I'd remembered seeing their pro-America vehicle wraps, and hearing about their support for American Veterans and cancer research charities and organizations that help people battling cancer. Greg & Jake were on my service call because my house was not cooling (during a few of the hottest days of the year), which turned into a furnace replacement when it was learned that my furnace was not only 18 years old (which I was aware that it was old, but not exactly HOW old since I'd moved in), but also had some water damage to the inside, and a totally blown furnace fan, which was why no air was being pushed at all. In any event, the guys were nice, professional, and I got the feeling that we shared a lot of the same values and principles, and a love and deep gratitude for American Veterans and fallen warriors. It's very special when you can help out a company that puts their money and reputation where their heart is, and Patriot Heating & Cooling is certainly one of those companies. I own another property that I'll be needing a furnace and AC unit replacement on before I sell, so they'll definitely be getting that call as well! The new Rheem furnace looks SO much better and nicer than the old one. I think that one was a Payne brand. I could be wrong; that might not even BE a brand, but that's sort of irrelevant. I was Having issues with our air. So I went online and looked to find a well reviewed company. Upon arrival of service, the gentleman spoke to me for a an hour snd a half and only really looked at my air. He did test the temp and I asked if it needed to be cleaned, he assured me it was fine. I went with him to look at the ac unit. He never even opened it up, from me being naive I dont know that you need to open it to tell if it needed cleaning I assumed you would know from the outside. He said my ac unit was to big for my house. This was why it wasn't functioning properly and I probably needed an entire new system and such work and vents, the whole nine yards. I had to pay the service fee which I get. But after an. Hour and half visit, he talked more about personal conversations and past customers then my air itself. I then hired a second company for an opinion. They came out told me the air unit was not to big for the house, looked at my unit, vents and all and said that is not the case. He opened my ac unit and it was dirty, he told me it needed to be opened to see. And showed me personally. He cleaned the unit and my air was running smoothly and cold again. I tried to called patriot in two separate occasions to talk to a manager about having to pay the service charge for an hour and a half of personal conversations and nothing done to my unit. And I keep getting told i will receive a Call back, nothing. When my furnace stopped working on Jan 5, 2018 the low was -8 and the high that day was a whopping 9 degrees... we needed help and we needed it fast. I called Patriot Heating based on a recommendation. They came quickly and things looked promising based on their quick response. There were some positives about the experience, their technician was kind and worked well with my children being around. He was young and in retrospect maybe a little inexperienced. The tech inspected my furnace and showed me what he said was evidence of a cracking heat exchanger. Based on their recommendation we decided to replace... this is where the experience started to go downhill for me. I will admit that some of what I disliked about my experience I discovered or realized after they left. After they recommended that I replace my furnace they suggested a furnace that I should replace it with. It was high efficiency (which is what my old furnace was) and I didn't think much of the model. THEY DIDN'T offer me any other furnace than the one I said yes too. THEY DIDN'T ask me what I wanted out of a furnace, what my budget was, if there were any considerations to be made. We were going to add onto our house by several hundred square feet and they didn't check to make sure the new furnace would be adequate. What I wanted was a furnace with an EDM motor, I wanted a 2-stage furnace like my previous house. I got neither. No one ever tried to offer me anything but the base model furnace. Why a company wouldn't even try to up-sell is beyond me. Maybe they needed to unload this model in their warehouse. Maybe they were getting a sales bonus from Rheem for some kind of quota. Either way this is not customer first behavior. Then I asked some questions about the exhaust/intake. Our existing exhaust is a 3-inch pipe that extends 20 feet into the air and out our second floor attic. They insisted that it was adequate and met the specifications of the furnace manufacturer. After they left I checked the manual and the exhaust has more turns in it than is allowed by my model... what kind of company lies about something like that? Then there is the intake. They left it open to the basement... saying that since it is a large open space that is fine and acceptable. Every single contractor I have had in my house since Jan 5 has commented that my new 5k furnace is half installed. Another HVAC tech that was evaluating my addition commented that with the intake set up the way it is I am reducing the efficiency of my 95% furnace by many percentage points. Once again what kind of company just does the bare minimum like this? Ok so none of that is ideal but when I got really insulted by this company was the next two things that happened. 1) I made the mistake of price shopping my model furnace to other Rheem dealers in the area only to find out that Patriot charged me almost double what other reputable dealers would charge for the same model installed. Why oh why did my furnace have to break on a bitterly cold winters day? I felt trapped because I needed to warm my family up and therefore couldn't do the right thing for our budget. The most insulting part is that they wanted to charge the same 2x price to add A/C. I found a company who could install the same furnace and A/C for the price I paid for just the furnace : ( 2) When I found out about how much I overpaid, my frustration with what furnace I ended up with, and the way the intake/exhaust was installed I emailed the company owner with all of my concerns. They already had all of my hard earned dollars and he never responded. While they were still trying to earn the install the owner was very responsive. I can only assume that once they had my money they didn't care if I was a happy customer. That is also very sad to me. Would I recommend Patriot HVAC? Sadly I would not. Be sure to shop around, read all of the reviews, and check in on price. Patriot puts a smile on until they have the sale and then it is just like working with the DMV. Maybe they are better with their long term contract customers? I wouldn't know. We were new and I felt taken advantage of. Even a little response from the boss could have assuaged me... they could easily make it right by fixing my exhaust and intake. There isn't much they can do about selling me a furnace that is "less than" what I wanted and certainly not much they can do about overcharging for a base model install... but they need to learn and correct these types of things before they become issues for more and more customers. 2 stars because they didn't burn my house down and I was warm after they came. read more

I have to say the quality of work this company does seems to not be equal to the price they charge. I would recommend pricing someone else to keep them honest. They also over emphasize being family owned as if that makes the higher price worth the money but at the end of the day their guarantee for a happy customer is simply talk and they do not back it up with real action to rectify poor situations. Take them with a big grain of salt. It seems that not only is the company delayed in responding but clueless when issues arise to actually fix them. This issue happened two months ago and now you are responding? We have moved since then but obviously it doesn't matter where I live as much as the lack of service we were provided. Update: the owner and company had a chance to resolve the issue two months ago and did not, hence why this rating exists. At this point it would be in the companies best interest to listen to the feedback and improve as I am not the first to have a similar experience. Own up to your shortcomings and move on. read more

DISHONEST!!!! PAID FOR SERVICE NOT PERMORMED!!! Patriot supposedly serviced our furnace and AC unit and at the end offered me a VIP package where they would come out in spring and fall to clean/service our units. I signed up for it and paid in full. They came out in April 2017 and did the "Spring Cleaning/Service". At the end he ran the AC and I noticed the air from vent wasn't very cool, but I didn't pay much attention to it. Patriot explained that our AC unit was starting to make loud noises and they had a special service where they could put in a special additive which would lubricate it and quite the unit down and help it last a little longer. They also went over the options of replacing the AC and furnace. I declined the additive service as I was considering replacement of system soon. We shut the unit down as it was cool outside. We didn't need to run AC at all till June as the weather had been very mild. When I started the unit we noticed it wasn't cooling down at all and the air coming out of the vents was like a fan only. I called our old company to come out and check as I was concerned about our VIP service. I didn't tell the service Tech that the unit had just been cleaned and serviced. He opened the AC unit and said we had a blown capacitor. No big deal. However, when he showed it to me I could not believe what I saw. The unit, which had just been cleaned by Patriot, had not been cleaned at all. It was caked with dust. And the capacitor was visibly blown. I could see it and knew that wasn't normal. I didn't need to be an AC guy. It looked like a soda can when frozen. I photographed the unit before the service tech cleaned the unit and then again after. What a difference. With the capacitor replaced, the unit immediately blew out cool air and we didn't notice any abnormal noise at all from unit. I sent Bill, from Patriot, an email with the pictures and explained the events to him. I explained that I was considering my options. He emailed me saying he was going to look into it and would get back to me. A few days later he asked that I call him. When we spoke he explained that the Patriot Tech wasn't sure what happened... he may have taken a phone call and got distracted. He said he would refund our VIP service fees.I couldn't believe the explanation. I do not know what the Tech did back there, but I am fairly certain he never even opened it. Can't say he cleaned the furnace portion either. No refund check ever came. In the Fall Bill's wife called to schedule our Fall VIP service cleaning...I explained that I wasn't interested and was still waiting for refund. She said she thought they had sent it and would do so immediately. Needless to say, it's been 8 months and NOTHING... I would highly recommend watching them perform service or check after them. Zero stars if I could. Can't believe the scam of a Service Business trying to sell new units instead of providing a service that had been paid for. I have the pictures if anyone is interested. Highly recommend Air-Medics... they have gone above and beyond on additional work for us... I feel I have been extremely patient in giving Patriot the opportunity to do right by my experience. We were unimpressed by Patriot and would not recommend! We had our A/C ducts cleaned and seasonal maintenance for A/C as well. The employee kind of cornered me in my bedroom to tell me our A/C unit was broken and could not be serviced and we'd need to spend around $10K to replace (but don't worry, they offer financing). Not only did he insist on this (in an extremely pushy way), but also informed me that my unborn child (I was pregnant at the time) would surely burn itself on our radiators in the winter if we also didn't pay patriot to convert all of our heat to forced air. He said multiple times that I shouldn't put my baby in danger, "safety first," etc. I called my husband to come home. He asked more questions which led the employee to become defensive and even angry. We called another local company for a second opinion. One of our A/C units is old- but they did service it and got it up and running. 2 seasons later, it is still working great. Not only did this confirm the dishonesty of Patriot-- but he also politely showed us that Patriot never even cleaned the 2nd newer A/C unit and didn't even change the filters. We paid them $350+ for cleaning and maintenance on that unit and it was never done! Finally, we also paid for duct cleaning. They did not replace half of the vent covers, lost the screws and left dirty finger prints on the ceilings. 2 seasons later and our vintage A/C vent covers are still falling off because they bent them beyond repair. This is one of the most dishonest companies I have interacted with. Trying to pressure and scare me into huge $$ services I didn't need. Try someone else! read more

Zach from Patriot came out to clean our dryer vent. There were numerous blockages that could've been very dangerous. He was very professional, took the time needed to clear all blockages and then cleaned the whole vent very thoroughly. My dryer is working like it's brand new again. I'm very happy with Patriot and plan on using them to get all of our vents cleaned in the near future. read more

I normally never write reviews but had to sign up for an account and let everyone know STAY AWAY FROM THIS Company. They are nothing short of lying cheating crooks. I had them come out to my house to repair my furnace and all they tried to do was UPSELL me on a new furnace and tried to get me to buy a prepaid service plan ( what a joke ). After I had to kick them out of my house I called another company that fixed my furnace for 250 bucks. NEVER CALL THIS COMPANY. read more

Beware! I was excited to Call this company when my Ac was acting up as I was referred to them by multiple sources. They did come out quickly but then pushed the replacement of my 9 year old unit versus repairing my existing unit. Other companies I spoke with said there was absolutely no reason to completely replace the unit and that it just needed more frequent air filter changes. I'm shocked a company with great reviews wouldn't be more honest about the situation and instead tried to scam me out of $4700 for a not necessary brand new unit. read more

My experience with Patriot Heating and Cooling has been a positive one. I recently met with numerous companies to get quotes for a new AC unit. Alex came out and helped me to understand my options. He was very professional and I appreciate that he took the time to get to know his customer. I ended up qualifying for the "hero" discount based on my profession. It's nice to see a company that recognizes the efforts of those of us that have been on the front lines since the pandemic began. My installation team, Greg and Reese, were phenomenal to work with as well. Great communication and professional, friendly personalities. I've been using my new AC for a week and it works great! 3 I bought an AC unit from this company thinking I was supporting a small business. I spent $8100 on this "new" AC. I voice my concern about two rooms of the house that were really warm, and Joseph assured me he would come back in a week to make sure everything was OK. Joseph never returned, I made a call and was put in contact with a tech, who was busy that weekend, so I said it was fine to come the following week. Of course I never heard from him. Now I've tried several times to get someone out here and I've always been rescheduled. I was courteous, understanding and fine with the change. 2 months later, someone shows up and my ring doorbell doesn't work. They leave, I text and call Joseph 2 minutes, YES TWO MINUTES later. No answer, no return call, no show. I text him again an hour later. 14 hours later, nothing. Please use another company who will follow thru to make the customer happy! I'm very disappointed in the "after care" service from this company. I would NEVER recommend them now. Such a shame that customer service is not important, only the "sale". read more

Had an A/C and furnace clean and check the other day. I have 2 systems, one old and one brand new, installed by a terrible company that went out of business before I could give them a minus ten star review. As a courtesy, the tech checked my ducting and drainage and everything of the new system, knowing how bad the installer had been. My almost 20 year old furnace is still humming along, cleaner and easier now that Patriot came out, and I know who's getting the job to replace it when it finally dies. read more
