I waited almost a year to write this review to make sure there wasn't any water intrusion during the winter storms - not a drop anywhere. They were in the mid-high range in pricing on the bids we got, but I'm happy we spent a little more went with them. Can a roof be sexy? Ours sure is. Post going live with my system has been a nightmare of terrible customer service. I continued getting PG&E bills even after the system was fully functional. I was first told that my batteries turned themselves off and that is what is making the difference. Then I was told that the breaker got turned off, "not tripped", and that was the problem and that I should start locking my panel as myself or someone else went in there and manually turned it off. I was then told that I would be assisted with the unnecessary PG&E bills that I was receiving. I have now been double charged for energy for the last 3 months. I have now been ghosted by the company for about a month until they just came back to me today to say that I didn't get enough solar panels and that must be the actual problem! Even though they built a system that would have an overage of production based on my last year of energy usage for the last 12mo. My energy consumption has not changed at all, even anything it has lessened. I have also called both the office and the sales rep I worked with a combined 10+ times in the last month and not a single returned call. So unfortunately I am having to come here and write this review to get any attention to this problem that has been going for months. My next points of escalation will be the Better Business Bureau and the state licensing board with all the receipts of communication (or lack there of), misinformation, and my original contracts showing that I purchased a system with enough panels.

The switch to the battery happened so fast that my TV didn't even turn off. I didn't even realize the power was out at first. The crews were friendly, answered my questions, and kept me updated through every step. Justin, my solar consultant, was great to work with. He answered all my questions and was always quick to respond. When I get an electric car in a few years, I'll have Hooked on Solar come back and recommend whether I should add more panels or another Tesla Powerwall. I'd definitely use Hooked on Solar again.

This confused me because sun strong was adamant they could not find my residence or account. (Plenty of email traffic) Anyways Alec tells me he found the account. How did he find it and not sunstrong is a mystery. He advised me he could see it was offline. What further does not make sense to me is the $790 which included: a team to lift the panels and verify the serial numbers, he told me this is a must because all my neighbors have solar and there system could not identify which was mine or the neighbors. Now this sure does sound ridiculous in the 2026. Next was claiming serial numbers to existing monitors Now: Complete system check Finally: Helping homeowner gain access I advised I just needed a connection to my system and I was text "we will close the ticket for now" I put this review here for plenty of reasons but most important is transparency. I was interested in adding panels to my existing older solar roof panels. My panels are working well, but I could use more power. Was also interested on behalf of my daughter who wanted extra panels after adding an EV and hot tub. After a couple of tel/cons with Diego, we determined in both our cases, it would not be worth adding additional panels because our True-ups were not high enough annually to warrant a system purchase. We had an extensive discussion about the fact that there are no more perks or discounts to install solar and things have just gotten more expensive over the last year, with loss of rebates, etc. Diego was very honest that in both of our cases, the cost of upgrading our mutual systems was not worth the money it would cost. I truly appreciated his honesty as he talked himself out of not one job but two.
