While a long time place for company happy hours, I think Patriot House is gaining more traction with the general public. Known for their happy hour and great staff, there's always a steady flow of customers coming and going as well as the regulars that basically have seats at the bar with their names on them. Either park in the garage, or if you want to attempt (and I use the word attempt fully understanding it's not going to happen) finding street parking either works to access the venue. read more

Came here for dinner Saturday night before attending the Punchline comedy show. Patriot House is a hidden gem! Ordered hamburgers and the grilled margherita sandwich. Ordered vinegar fries, two Lagunitas beers and two margaritas. Everything was incredibly delicious! Hands down one of the best burgers! They did a great job with the margarita and did not water it down with ice. Our server/bartender Aleisha was awesome and super friendly, absolutely loved her! We settled and got greta service right in, timed mid afternoon and avoided any rush. Ordered up tacos, sliders, Reuben, and Burger, I noticed only the burger was sized properly! But prices normal for the city, beer went down right, and my Reuben tasted made well. Patriot House is tucked away in the upper area of embarcadero 2, therefore, it doesn't get a ton of foot traffic. My work does happy hours here often, because it is a reliable place to get a table for a large group. Surprisingly, when we came in yesterday, it was a lot more crowded than it usually is which adds to the vibe. In general though, I wouldn't come here for the vibes since some days it can be relatively empty. There is an outdoor patio which is nice for sunny days! There's plenty of screens for watching games and an outdoor patio area (with seating) if the weather is nicer and its not too windy in FiDi. It's on the 2nd floor of the Embarcadero Center, tucked away and not the easiest spot to find unless you know where it is. Service is consistently friendly and somewhat quick, even with peak hours (like trivia nights). I'm usually there with friends and almost always stick to the happy hour deals, which are not the best I've had but great bites to be something you can always order and split while folks order drinks. There's usually a cocktail or boozy slushie of the day and the rest of the happy hour menu is great. I personally am fond of the spinach and artichoke dip. Not a date night spot, nor would it be my go-to for dinner, but it is a great hangout spot to invite a bunch of people without committing an exact number, and chat and catch up with whatever friends show up over a couple of drinks. It's perhaps most famous for it's appearance on the reality show Bar Rescue - when it was transformed from a bar called Holding Company into an American Dream with revolution era memorabilia on the wall. This bar is a great place to catch a game, or congregate for a happy hour after work. The menu is traditional bar food with offerings like tatchos (tator-tot nachos), quesadillas and wings. For drinks, you have some standard options like Trumer Pilsner and Firestone Walker 805, but you also have some nods to America with the State of the Union cocktail or a traditional Budweiser. PUB GATHERING My co-workers stated this place used to be the Holding Company, which was a gathering place for the insurance industry. The first time I ate at the Patriot House was around August of this year as a lunch gathering for co-workers to mingle as most of us have hybrid work schedule. For lunch I ordered one of the specials - tomato risotto with salmon. I've had mixed experiences with salmon at restaurants as they tend to be overcooked. At the Patriot House the salmon wasn't overcooked, but moist. I also enjoyed the crispy skin of the salmon. With the tomato risotto this dish was hearty and filling. I washed down the dish with a soothing cider. The second time I came for another company gathering in December. I don't like order the same item twice. This time instead asking for a special I ordered an item from the menu. The item that really intrigued me was the braised beef short rib. When I received the dish the short rib was placed on a dollop of mashed potatoes. The savory beef rib matched well with the airy mashed potatoes. The portion of the short beef rib and mashed potato balanced each other. I didn't drink cider this time but ginger ale. Inside the Patriot House the decor has a dark amber color that makes this place look similar to a pub. This place has an inviting, soothing atmosphere that is opposite of a dive bar. I can see my co-workers said this place is a great gathering place in our industry. My husband and I stopped in for happy hour for the first time and were really happy we did! The food was really good. Honestly, probably the best wings I've had in San Francisco. They were meaty and large and well flavored. My husband like the sliders too. Really inexpensive happy hour meals and drinks! They also have daily specials or events happening. Within the modern exterior of the Embarcadero center is The Patriot House which transports you to a warm, wood, stately, continental feeling classic pub with a friendly atmosphere. Honestly amazed how easy it was to seat 14 people on a Friday night! We were having a goodbye dinner for our coworker and we're able to get three tables together like that. I've been here a couple of times and it's a pretty good solid spot. While it may not occupy the top spot in my recall list, it's still a place where's there enough drinks, appetizers, entrees, and TV screens that there's always something for everyone. The happy hours are not as generous as at other places what with just a buck below the standard price for their specialty cocktails, and appetizers. That said, the garlic fries were pretty good with the option to add feta cheese. However, the texture of the garlic fries was relatively flaccid vis-a-vis the french fries which was almost perfect with a lovely crunchy exterior and a soft moist body. The fish tacos were decent. It had good flavours with the smoky chipotle mayo. The fish was supposed to be lightly crunchy with a thin batter coating but the crunchiness was missing. It was delicious but the fish was about half the length of the taco so you end up eating just tortilla and salsa at about the half-way mark. The 'tot-chos' is the house version of nachos substituting tater-tots for the tortilla chips. It came with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole. There was the option to kick it up with pulled pork or some other beef or chicken concoction. The tots were pretty good and the toppings made it a little better. Some of my friends had the Buffalo chicken wings and the Thai chicken wings. I had a bite of the Thai wings and it was something I personally wouldn't order myself or recommend to anyone. I forgot to order an alcoholic drink so I have nothing to add in that regard. read more
