The happy hour is straight BANGIN', mmkay?! First, they hit me with $1 oysters. Now, you know I can't say no to oysters... especially when they're only a dolla! HOLLA! And, then they hit me with the $6 happy hour dranks! YAAAASSS! The drinks are on point and their Moscow Mule is the bidness! You must try it. But, that ambiance though! The atmosphere is truly amazing here. Very low-key with an eye catching setup. It's hard to believe that this bar is tucked away behind the Metreon. It could easily go unnoticed if you aren't actually looking for it. I stopped here before meeting up with some friends to see a movie. I was not about to spend an arm and a leg on expensive ass movie fare and I had a little bit of time to kill before the movie started. So I thought... why not? You walk up a few flights of stairs from behind the Metreon, turn left, and then BOOM! This gorgeous little beauty will be right at your feet! Their patio is beautiful! It overlooks the ever so stunning Yerba Buena Gardens. One a warm city day, you can't beat the views here. I came on a weekday during happy hour and the place was busy but not overly packed. I really think that this has something to do with its' hidden location, but hey... I ain't complainin' about it. Despite this, the bartender who was holding down the bar that evening appeared to be a bit overwhelmed. The wait wasn't too long but there definitely was a wait. I ordered a dozen oysters, truffle fries, a Sangria, and a Moscow Mule. Everything tasted wonderful! The oysters were a on the smaller side, but they were fresh. They rotate the type of oysters that they offer pretty frequently, but I guess I came on an itty bitty oyster day. Their drinks are very tasty! I enjoyed their sangria, but I was most impressed with their rendition of a Moscow Mule. It was missing the cute mug that I'm used to and the color was unusual, but damn was it good! And, those TRUFFLE FRIES! Just PERF! They were served piping hot and perfectly seasoned. The dipping sauces were legit! This would probably be a go-to item for me if I frequented this spot on the regular. They also have a restaurant menu if you're looking for more than just appetizers. Happy hour is from 4-6:30 every dayum DAY! Yes, you heard me right! This bar has one of the best happy hours that I've been to FiDi! If you're looking for a great little happy hour spot in the city, then look no further and check out B.

Happy Hour Dollar Oysters from 4:30-6:30 Daily, YUMMY

Had a great $1 oyster happy hour deal! Had to wait like 20 min for a table inside but totally worth it! Fresh oysters, and great ambiance over looking yerba buena gardens. Servers were friendly. The Moscow mule doesn't come in the traditional copper cup and has bitters. Not my favorite variation but was decent. Would be back for those oysters!

I came on a Friday after work and this place gets crowded! I got the pitcher of red sangria, truffle fries and a cheese & charcuterie board. Sangria was great, fries were average and the board was delicious. I got the daily dairy gouda, finochietta and capicola. Next time, I will pass on the capicola though and try the salumi or another cheese. The food and drinks were average-good, but what got me to yelp B Restaurant is the service. I believe his name is Nelson! He was super attentive and fun to interact with. Thank you Nelson for being so awesome!

Came here for some small bites and drinks on a Friday night. My friend made a reservation for 7:30 for our group of 7, but we didn't need it as the restaurant was surprisingly pretty empty when I arrived early around 7. I loved the ambiance, as the indoor area is very open and airy with modern decor. There is a lot of outdoor seating seating as well. I wish we had made the happy hour, which they offer 4:30-6:30 daily, as it includes great deals on drinks and dollar oysters. Regular price for all cocktails is $12, and prices for food are on the pricier end, as you would expect for a restaurant in this area. I settled for ordering their Thrilla in Manila cocktail, which has rum, passion fruit, campari, pineapple, lime, and maraschino liqueur. It was a deliciously sweet (and strong!) drink, which is exactly how I like it :) For food, I ordered the PEI mussels served in a tomato broth ($16) and honestly wasn't too impressed. This was the first mussel dish I've had that I didn't like, as the sauce tasted a bit weird to me and had a lot of ginger in it which I ended up picking out. Overall, this was a good place to come on a Friday night as it wasn't too crowded or loud. I'm glad we came here so we didn't have to deal with crowds, even if the food was a bit lacking.

I'm surprised that B restaurant doesn't have a better overall rating. I had such a good time coming here for happy hour + appetizers. The space itself is absolutely beautiful - a glass box at the top of Yerba Buena gardens, overlooking the entire park, quite nice! There is a lot of outdoor seating, so I highly recommend for you to come on a sunny day - the only issue is, you might find the restaurant a bit crowded on a sunny day since a lot of others may have the same idea as you (drink outside, duhh). If you come and its crowded and the bar is packed, then put yourself on a waitlist for a table - it's worth it! Come for happy hour. DO IT. 4:30 - 6:30 pm, daily. Order drinks by the pitcher $45 (both the moscow mule & kentucky stud are excellent choices). Order the truffle fries $8. Order the crispy brussels sprouts w/ spicey maple glaze $9. Please order the seared ahi nachos (omg divine) $16. Do not order the chicken wings $14 (too dry and not enough meat). Do not order the pork ribs $15 (bad cuts of ribs - too fat and barely any edible meat). Enough said. Please a friend or two, your boss, your whole team, your SO. DO ITTTT!

Aviation (too much creme de violette!) and Pisco Sour (not foamy enough)

I wouldn't make B restaurant my go to spot because it's pricey for a weekday lunch, but this was a special lunch indeed! we celebrated winning a free trip to Vegas courtesy of KOIT 96.5! (shamelessly plugging lite rock, less talk!) We wanted to have a long lunch and ordered a bunch of plates. The ceviche tasting came with fried plantains, but the manager informed us beforehand that he was going to exclude the squid and double up the salmon belly and tiger shrimp portions instead, because the squid wasn't up to par. I appreciated their honesty and also making sure not to serve us mediocre seafood. Their cocktails are yummy, but it needs work. Wait a minute, drinking before noon?!? Well, if it's an Aviation made with real creme de violette, then it's totally acceptable. A little heavy on this ingredient which made my cocktail on the sweet side. Their pisco sour isn't authentic looking, but it tastes like one, so we'll let it slide. For lunch, I balanced the asparagus, shaved fennel and grilled shrimp salad with a bowl of extremely addicting truffle fries. Why, yes! I even managed to effectively block bf's attempts to steal some. He reports that the burger is cooked like the way he wanted, but the bun is a bit hard... (um? That's how I like it!! LOL) oh sorry, what were we taking about?! I blame it on the booze! ;-) Andrew is a joy of a server, totally attentive but not smothering. Very efficient too even when it got busy. Food/drinks are really 3.5 stars but the awesome staff bumps this up to a 4. Highly recommended if you're looking for a fancy lunch with views of the Yerba Buena gardens.

    - Update 3/2/07 Okay I have to admit it, B and I are back together. We broke up after a rocky start, but she addressed her issues and I'm falling for her. Great place for a business lunch, there is always space and sitting outside is awesome on a beautiful day. The menu has been tweaked and I'm now much happier. Full Disclosure: They're now a Yelp advertiser. I've been here several times since my original 3 star review and I left it intact until I was certain they deserved a rating upgrade. - Original Review The interior design kicks ass, if you ever shut this place down for a high-class cocktail affair please invite me. Just like it's neighbor Samovar, B benefits from sweeping views of downtown visible through large panels of glass. It's hard to describe, but trust me it's a cool space. The food and service on the other hand are still under construction. I've been here for lunch twice. The first time I had the "jerk chicken sandwich". Not to be a jerk (heh), but the sauce was more of a spicy mayonnaise then a real jerk sauce. Also our food took about 50 minutes to arrive, argh. The next time I came in I ordered the burger (medium). It arrived very rare, but I downed it anyways. If I had enough time I would have sent it back (and no I'm typically not a "send-it-back kind of guy"). Sorry B it's not you, it's me. I'm just not ready for a steady relationship. I'll keep checking back and maybe we'll end up getting together in a few months when you get yourself sorted. Until then, kisses.

So was 'A' taken?...I mean what's with the alphabet branding? ...and what about overachievers who feel peckish? Would they feel comfortable dining in a place called 'B'? ...and what about your friends who show up pissed two hours late because they thought you meant B44 in Belden Place? ...and what about your attention-deficit spouse fuming because he (and let's face it...it's a 'he') thought you meant A16 in the Marina? A16...B44...B...hell, what's the difference? But enough about the name...the isolated location makes it feel a bit, well, sad. I don't think I'm the only one who forgets the place is up in the setback on the elevated part of the Yerba Buena Gardens that nobody walks by unless they're completely drunk on the way from Moscone Center to the Metreon. It's a nice enough place, prairie-style and open-air...but somehow lacking, oh I don't know....charisma? How else do you explain last Saturday when throngs of people are lined around the block for Fan Fest at Moscone West and just across 4th Street, nary a body at this place? It's a shame because the food is pretty darn good. Brunch is the deal. I had the $13 Poached Eggs over Catfish Fillets and Purple Potato Mash. Delish...even though the fish was retaining a bit of water. Jamie W. was having the $8.25 Chicken Salad Sandwich, a winner as this is apparently one of their specialties. It consisted of chicken mixed with olive oil, citrus, basil, thyme, rosemary, red onion and a "touch of mayo". Definitely not what you'd get at Lee's Deli. They have a nice terrace that wraps around a Moscone Center skylight, but be careful as it gets blinding on a sunny day since they seem averse to putting up the patio umbrella. It may be better to try the indoor tables where you may notice that most of the chair arms have broken off...hmmm, IKEA anyone? FOOD - 3.5 stars...good food, especially that chicken salad...brunch is a good deal AMBIANCE - 4 stars...nice and airy though Siberia may be close by SERVICE - 3 stars...gee, do they have a lot of turnover?...the waiter was nice but oh so new TOTAL - 4 stars...I feel generous here, more 3.5...but I say give them a try despite the bad generic name and the remote Himalayan location

This restaurant has a nice view and atmosphere. Went here for a lunch with friends and we shared the truffle fries, deviled eggs, beef sliders and pasta with chicken.

B Restaurant is our tweet-up secret Saturday/Sunday brunch go-to place. Its location in Yerba Buena Gardens is a bit off-the-beaten brunch crowd track, but is worth seeking out on a bright, warm day when you can sit outside. Unfortunately this last time it was a dreary and wet day, and the cold wind whipped through the glass-enclosed restaurant every time the door was opened. Our table of 9 took up about 1/3 of the indoor chairs. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating, even when some in our party were over 45 minutes late. We passed the time with appetizers, mimosas and well-made Bloody Marys with a nice spike of heat. This was the second time I ordered the Spinach & Avocado Benedict which once again was pretty awesome. Two perfectly poached eggs, half an avocado, brioche, Hollandaise sauce and spinach. Divine! The brunch menu is not extensive, but there is something for everyone, from citrus and garden salads to burgers to a *clutch-your-heart* 4-egg B-Omega omelet. We hope to return during happy hour for their $1 oyster specials.

Great scenic spot for Happy Hour at Yerba Gardens. They have 1$ oysters and truffle fries! I came here with a group of 3 on Wednesday around 5 PM and there was little to no wait. We were seated immediately. Baked oysters- filled with butter and heavenly goodness. These were so delicious and juicy. Raw oysters - you really can't go wrong with 1$ oysters. No complaints here. Truffle fries- very subtle truffle oil paired with ketchup and what seemed like mayo. I wish the truffle flavor was a little more tense. At the bottom of my fries I found a hair in it... Also, when I was finishing my drink the guy asked if I wanted another drink I said no and he took my drink away. I was not done with my drink yet unfortunately. All in all, I would still go back for the view.

Came here for happy hour on a Thursday around 5:30. (HH is until 6:30) There's an outdoor seating area, which was not crowded because it was a little cool outside. But the view is pretty nice! Overlooks Yerba Buena. Happy hour prices are alright, under $10 mixed drinks so it's pretty standard. No happy hour pricing on food other than the $1 oysters (minimum 6 per order). Everything came out in a timely manner and the waiters were very attentive to our table outside. My favorite was the truffle fries. So yummy! Comes with an aioli sauce and ketchup on the side. The sangria is pretty good too, and pretty strong. Will come back for happy hour!

B's Restaurant & Bar was ehhh. Though fine, it also wasn't spectacular, and though the location and the patio setting were really pretty, as a whole I wasn't exactly floored with the food considering its pricepoint. Oysters ($1 Happy Hour per Oyster) - (Fun fact- It was also my first time having oysters! So yay, shoutout to that.) Well seeing as it was my first time having oysters, I didn't really have a gauge of what to expect. It was fine, and the sauces complimented the oysters nicely, though the oysters seemed kinda small. Truffle Fries ($8) - I mean I've had yet to ever say no to truffle fries. Pretty good, though the wait for these to come out was a tad long. I'd recommend them, but I don't know who wouldn't ever recommend truffle fries to begin with either. The B Burger ($16) - I mean this was okay, but kinda fell flat for me. It just tasted pretty average, and though it was okay, for the pricepoint I wouldn't order this again considering it was kinda small, though it was somewhat filling. Thrilla in Manila ($12) - Rum, Passion Fruit, Campari, Pineapple, Lime, and Maraschino Liqueur. Really loved this drink! Sweet yet strong, and the pineapple chunk also ties in perfectly as an accent. Definitely a recommend, and I loved this. The location itself is gorgeous in the Yerba Buena Gardens, with it's nice landscape setting, and the patio itself is also gorgeous. I went to go sit indoors inside the restaurant, but when I came there were a lot of flies buzzing around where I sat, which was a tad offsetting. Service here was really good, and my waiter was super attentive. I also didn't have to wait too long when I went during the beginning of Happy Hour, so that was a plus too. Tl:dr; B Restaurant & Bar kinda is a meh for me. It sits at a pretty average 3.5 for me, but leaning more towards a 3 because while I thought it was decent, it also wasn't doing anything too special for me either. Though it does offer a nice setting for the food and beverage provided, it's priced slightly up there for food that didn't exactly wow me as a whole.

Great atmosphere, good beer, and an all-around enjoyable experience. We'll definitely be back and are glad we finally stopped in.

All in all though, if you're not gluten free, paying this money for beer that's a little flat is probably not your best choice. Also, check the price before you buy a flight, they charged us an astronomical price. And the bags of chips are also exploitively priced.

Here's what we noticed: - Great vibe when we arrived...Busy with lots of people, but still some seating at the large number of picnic tables. There's also some outside patio seating in the front. - My wife and I split a flight of beer, which they provide in three 6 ounce pours. We especially liked their Hazy IPA, but the Oktoberfest was very good too. The bartender said their Kolsch is a bit of a classic, and we liked it too, but it wasn't a stand out to us. I later got a 10 ounce pour of their IPA and felt like that was the best of all. The best part is that you couldn't go wrong with any of the beers. - We got chips and guacamole from the taco truck guy located inside next to the bar...You pay by cash, and we got a big container of chips and a humongous couple of scoops of guac for $9. It was just what we needed to go with our beers! Bottom line: if we lived in the area, we'd go back to Standard Deviant for sure!

It strikes a great balance between laid-back and social without ever feeling overcrowded or chaotic. The beer selection is excellent, with a wide range of options that cater to just about every taste. Whether you're into crisp lagers, bold IPAs, or something a little more adventurous, there's plenty to choose from. Everything we tried was fresh and well poured, making it easy to enjoy more than one without feeling overwhelmed by the menu. One thing that really stood out is the food menu. There's a solid variety of options that pair perfectly with the beer, so it's not just a place to drink, it's a place to actually enjoy a full experience. The menu feels thoughtfully put together, with choices that are satisfying, shareable, and ideal for a relaxed beer hall setting. The Beer Hall delivers on all fronts: atmosphere, beer, and food. It's the kind of place you can casually stop into and end up staying longer than planned. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great beer selection, good eats, and a genuinely enjoyable vibe.

From the outside, The Beer Hall almost blended into its surroundings - I almost walked right by if it hadn't been for the neon "The Beer Hall" sign. The taproom is quite spacious and could accommodate several large groups; however, the night of our visit was relatively quiet, perhaps due to the cold weather. Since there weren't any large tables, our group spread out over three smaller tables. As people came and went throughout the evening, it was convenient that we could each order our own beer and food at the bar. I selected an IPA from Fieldwork, a local favorite, and the beer stayed cold and refreshing throughout the evening. The food menu was limited, but I was craving something warm and salty to pair with my beer. For nearly $10, the fries weren't cheap, but the plate was piled high with some of the best fries I've had in a while. They were served piping-hot alongside two dipping sauces - aioli and ketchup. My friends sitting around me couldn't resist them either, and the mountain of fries disappeared in record time. The servers at the bar were very friendly and checked in on our group often. We spent a few hours enjoying our conversation and beer, overall having a fun, laid-back evening.
