I have to be honest...reading some of the reviews I was really uneasy as our vehicle had come from the New Jersey and I was very concerned about rust that I might not be able to see. I am honestly totally taken back by my experience here. We pull up and the sales guy asks my husband how he can help. My husband mentioned that we have had two friends that have recently bought cars from them that loved their experience and that they where great at making sure the price was fair. The man immediately said that he would not negotiate price on any of the vehicles more than $150 dollars. He was very rude and even made a comment about my husbands age. Since that has anything to do with the situation. He left a horrible taste in my mouth. Especially considering a lot of the cars on that lot you can find cheaper at places like PMR auto. I've been in the middle of a used car search for my mom that had all the makings for a potentially disastrous experience. Here's the gist of my experience. To make a long story short, I bought a 2001 4Runner that looked really clean and only had 80,000 miles on the clock. I took it to a mechanic to have him look everything over. Everything checked out except he was concerned about the amount of "Rust protectant spray" that was on the undercarriage. He and I couldn't imagine that it would be that bad because of how clean the rest of the car was. I went back to the dealership and asked about the spray and if they had any pictures before they completely coated the undercarriage of the car. Mike told me they didn't, but the coating was to protect against any new rust and stop any current rust from spreading. I know 4Runners are prone to rust and since Patriot motors specializes in 4Runners and Honda Odysseys, I wouldn't think they would sell or try and cover up anything that was going to be a huge problem. Two weeks after purchasing the vehicle I had a transmission sensor go out. I brought the car to my mechanic to have it worked on. Despite what we originally thought, underneath the "rust protectant spray" is years of deep rust that has destroyed many components under the vehicle. The rust was so bad that my transmission lines literally shattered when removing the sensor. The motor runs great, but the problem I have now is that I paid a premium price (a couple thousand over blue book) for a vehicle that is going to cost thousands to repair over time because Patriot Motors successfully covered up the flaws of the vehicle. Patriot Motors knows what they are doing. Many of their 4Runners come from the east coast, and they know how to cover up the rust. I have met a few different people that have bought 4Runners from Patriot motors since and they have had similar problems with rust. I feel lied to and deceived. I feel like the whole experience I had at Patriot motors is exactly how my 4Runner is, beautiful on the outside but impossible to repair deep down. read more

They don't sell quality cars. Save yourself your time and money. Do not buy from here!! If you do, make sure you get the vehicle you're considering inspected by an outside mechanic and make sure EVERYTHING works. Test every button, seat belt, door, etc. They claim each vehicle has gone through 3 different 100+ point inspections. However, they have no record or documentation proving it, nor can they tell what is actually inspected in those 100+ point inspections. We thought we inspected it fairly close ourselves and test drove before purchase but found out several things that did not work on our van (electric sliding door stopped working a week after purchase, found a backseat seatbelt literally cut halfway through, heated seat button, and rear axle problems). We had to put $3000 into this car to get it fixed and now the sliding door is acting up again. They sell crappy cars and try to sell you on their warranty package instead of actually selling quality cars. read more

What kind of Used Car Dealership tells you they have had a 3rd party frame inspection on the vehicle you are looking at just to calm your nerves. The frame had enough black undercoating to trick anyone that looked. I feel that this is not the first time this has happened with one of the vehicles they have sold. They sell a lot of "low mileage" 4Runners from the same areas. I could tell the black undercoating was fresh since the Oil Filter that came with it had the same undercoating on it from overspray. An honest company would not have approved this frame with the defects I am seeing. A frame with holes in it from rust does not happen in 7 months, it takes years and the 3rd party company would have found it. Also, the in house "Toyota Certified Mechanic" did a lousy patch job on the passenger side exhaust manifold. The Driver side needed it done as well. I took it to a trusted shop and had them preform the repair. Driving it out of the shop I still heard the same noise, turns out the passenger side patch job was still leaking and wasn't done correctly in the first place. A significant amount of money later and I had new exhaust headers on both sides. Also, the spare tire on the car was a mixed matched tire. It wasn't the same size as all the rest and in an AWD car that cant happen. The Cable holding the spare to the underside of the car was in bad shape and wasn't reliable. We are not able to use that location to keep the spare anymore. This Vehicle has many issues, and the dealer sold it saying it was in great condition. If I were you I would look elsewhere for a vehicle. Patriot Motors, Orem 05 4Runner Car fax showed it was brought to Utah with around 92,000 Miles from the NY and NJ region. read more

Don't do it. We have had nothing but problems with our car purchased here. First, it was quoted as inspected with a clean carfax. Turns out the car had been wrecked and not reported but sold at non-wrecked pricing. A basic inspection would have shown damage to the frame and we regret not taking it to a mechanic. We have had nothing but problems with the installed dvd/audio system. We don't even use it because it is more trouble than it is worth. It was sold as a factory installed system but after having it looked at, it is an after market system. Lastly, the car has had computer problem after problem primarily due to poorly installed equipment. A car with 40k miles selling for 20k plus should not have these types of issues. The owner and salesperson were very friendly until we started having problems then it became a game of cat and mouse. Buyer beware! read more

I took my Acura MDX in for repairs on the brake pads in July of 2015 before I was to head across country. The owner of Patriot Motors sold the car to me as well as an aftermarket warranty. For starters, getting into the repair dept. was like pulling teeth. The guy I kept trying to make the appt. with made it seem like he was doing me a favor by taking my car for work that was done under this warranty. Um, I paid a LOT of money for this warranty! But here's the worst part...the auto-repair department ONLY replaced the pads on the front brakes, but TOLD/INVOICED my warranty company for pads on BOTH the front AND back brakes. As a result, now that I need pads on the back my warranty company won't pay for it. I have obtained a copy of the invoice that shows this. I think the owner is good, but the guy who handles the repair department has a gruff and difficult personality and I've shared that with the owner. I thought it was just a personality clash until this was pulled on me. SOOO frustrated!! Furthermore, when I drove the car away and noticed that it was making the same sound as it did when I brought it into them, the repair dept. guy challenged me as to whether or not I knew what I was talking about. He reiterated again that it was ONLY the front brakes that needed attention. Out of frustration, I took the car into another place a couple of weeks later to have the brakes checked thinking that maybe it was just the back brakes making all the noise. It was then that I was informed by the warranty co. that I had already had the front AND back brake pads fixed. *sigh* Furthermore, the new place that checked things out said that the pads shouldn't have been fixed without the rotors being looked at as they were quite worn and I should have at least been informed about this when I had the pads replaced. (Naturally, the rotors aren't covered under the warranty.) I had to jump through all kinds of hoops when I bought this car to get it up to snuff for what I could see on the surface, and Sammy did that for me, but it just made it SO not worth it and a constant reminder of that frustration now that I have to deal with ALL of this nightmare again. Sammy kept reminding me how he was fired from his job after making the car deal with me and that's why he went to Patriot Motors. He kept making sure to tell me that anything done to the car after the fact was coming out his pocket. I think that's very unprofessional and that I shouldn't be made to feel burdened with any guilt when I purchased the car and paid outright for it under a set number of circumstances and understandings that were put in writing. I'm sorry. I can't think favorably about anything related to Patriot Motors after all of this. I've found problem after problem after problem with this car that Sammy never revealed because he never took the time to go over the car--at least I hope that he didn't knowingly sell me this lemon! He had literally JUST gotten it from auction when I picked it up. I assumed that before they let it off their lot, they would put it through certain checks and balances. I paid for some upgrades to it, but they should have checked out SO many other things as well. It's cost me literally 50% of my original purchase price in repairs thus far and that's ON TOP OF the $2,000 warranty I purchased to prevent these kinds of expenses. But unfortunately, the warranty doesn't cover everything that can go wrong with a car! read more

Bought a beautiful Highlander in November for a premium price. Liked like new inside and out. When stuff started going wrong this spring we took it to our mechanic. Who said that it looks like it has been sitting in the ocean. The underneath is so rusted nothing can be repaired it must be replaced. I can't resell to someone else because I can't do to them what patriot auto did to me. I've got 4000 into current repairs and mechanic says that's only the beginning. Do not trust these guys. They tell you that 140% of loan to value is acceptable even though the only companies that lend like that are charging you much higher interest. We recently purchased a Honda Odyssey from Patriot Motors, both Andre (the salesman) and Sammy (the owner) were great to work with, and they really had to work with me. When we arrived to check out on of the Odysseys I saw online, it was currently in the shop having the timing belt and water pump replaced, an oil job, and the transmission fluid replaced. When they say that these things have been done, they truly have because they have a shop to take care of their cars right on the lot. Also, when you purchase a car through them, you receive 20% off all parts and labor for future needs when you use their shop, Precision Auto. The night we purchased the car, we were going through the paper work and I started to feel like I'd rather sleep on it before completing the purchase. Andre was completely understanding and offered instead to add a warranty to the contract that I could bring it back the next day and void the whole transaction "if I didn't feel good about it" (that was the actual writing he put on the contract). This gave me the opportunity to take the van home, drive it a bit and make a good, well informed, decision. The next day we decided to go through with the transaction. After discovering a flat tire, we took it in and they offered to fix it without hesitation. When I learned that my van was running on overly-priced run-flat tires and rims (which come standard on the 06 touring I bought) I asked if they would switch them out with normal tires and rims. I feel that they were not obligated to do this in any way. We could have voided the transaction right then and there and they could have sold this van to someone else who wanted the run-flat tires. However, they knew I loved this van and they offered to switch them with the only other vehicle on their lot that had tires and rims to fit my vehicle. Sammy also made me aware that my vehicle didn't come with a spare and offered to put one in for me at his cost (Odysseys with these run-flat tires don't come with a spare). This is something I wouldn't have known about as I assumed all cars come with a spare. If Sammy hadn't told me I could have been stranded in the future. When I decided I didn't like the quality of the tire they put on, Sammy paid half the cost for me to put on new tires. (Sammy also offers his clients new tires at whole sale value with no tax and no installation fees through the BIG O in Provo). I ended up paying $140 for an all new set of tires. Not too shabby! All along the way, Sammy was completely up front and honest with me. He expressed that he understands it is easier for him (a car guy) to correct problems than it would be for me (not a car person). He really is a great guy who will do what it takes to make his clients happy. I had no prior relationship with Andre or Sammy before buying this van. This is an honest opinion of them after the experience a had a week ago. I plan on using them for my car needs in the future. read more

They said yes, and we agreed on a price (which involved approval from the owner). We asked if there was anything else we needed to do and they said no. The next day we called to check up and they had sold the car to someone else, presumably for more money. They said, sorry, you didn't pay a deposit. You gave us your word! This was by far the WORST auto buying experience. My young family and I wanted to trade our small car in to get a bigger car for our growing family in which we regret due to this place. We typically are not the people that complain about anything including if we go out to eat and the order gets messed up. We just eat it anyway without complaining. We thought we were getting a good car, but it turns out that they knowingly sold us a lemon. When we were buying the car the dealer tried to cheat us out some money by changing the price that we agreed on the night before and then preceded to joke that it was a minimal amount of money before he changed it to the agreed price. When we took the car to our mechanic, he said, "if it were him he would not have bought the car." That's how many problems were with the car. We then took it back to patriot motors to their mechanic to look at and fix since that was in the contract. We arrived during the mechanic place just before closing hours so they let us rent out a courtesy car for the night. The next morning we noticed that the car had an additional 26 miles on the car in which we don't know what happened to our car. They said that they took it out for a test drive to see what was wrong with the car, but it doesn't take 26 miles to try to figure that out. After talking with the owner they were dishonest on multiple occasions, but did pay for the diagnostic to be done on the car after we had been there all day. I had to take off of work just to try to get this matter resolved Some of the problems that our mechanic found could not be fixed by their mechanic due to them not having the parts for it. We tried to get the owner to just give us back our trade in car in which he said he would not do. In the end he ended up paying us just over $100 to get a small part of the car fixed at a different mechanic since we didn't trust their mechanic would do a good job. This money was used as part of the down-payment for a different car that we ended up having to buy costing us $6,000 to trade it in for a different car. We definitely did not have a good experience here and are only writing a review since we looked at their reviews before we went there and only found good ones. read more
