Really inconsistent. One time we come and the pancakes are the best we've had, the next visit they're not that good. Same with the queso. And the salsa. Tonight I tried the Frito burger- it was the most bland thing ever, with the thinnest patty of meat and just weird flavors (pickles and mustard with refried beans?). Most days I would give Pats a near perfect. Today, very few customers and sadly a horrible meal. I started w dessert as I never have room for it and I love their pies. Not today. The pecan pie was runny and didn't have a bottom crust. The carrot cake was tiny and had the consistency of a brownie but my thought is that it was old. My meatloaf which was supposed to be award winning was dry and tough. The mashed potatoes tasteless and cold. The only saving grace was the fried mushrooms. I did turn my meal back and opted to chew on the Texas toast & a few more mushrooms. Our server was relatively new and did her best. I gave them 3 stars solely based on prior experiences. It's so unfortunate, if I could give zero stars I would. We used to love coming to Pat's Place after a fun day in the water. This is a New Braunfels staple, and I was very disappointed to see how it has changed. Tonight, we waited well over an hour and a half for our food. All we ordered was two cheeseburgers and a bean and cheese taco. In the time we were waiting no one really came to check on us, I think they just assumed we understood they were backed up in the kitchen. When the food finally came out, the buns of both cheeseburgers were rock hard (and no I'm not exaggerating) and the beef patty was crusted black (also burnt). We didn't eat them, we just left and went elsewhere instead. ADD ON: So I just checked my credit card and I was charged for the wrong ticket and was charged more than double what was on our ticket. Yes it was then straight away refunded. But the manager nor the waitress said anything about it so I didn't even know. Come on Pat's Place, do better. Disappointing day for Pat's Place, we won't be going back. read more

What a wonderful place with fantastic home cooked food. We came with a group and had burgers, chicken fried steak, turkey and salads. Everything was delicious and the service was wonderful. This place was another great place referred to us by Integrity Window Tinting and another favorite go to restaurant. New Braunfels has so many wonderful restaurants and Pat's Place made us feel like locals. It was a great experience, and we will definitely be going back. read more

My wife and I have been going to Pat's for many years and have enjoyed it. This whole week I kept wanting to get to Pat's for a burger and fries, today we finally had time. But, it wasn't what it had always been....I noticed immediately that the cold, hard fries were not the fries I came for. The burgers are good, the fries and even better the chili cheese fries are what we love. They've changed their fries from homemade, to frozen. The homemade fries differentiated them from other places, now they're like most other quick service places. This is so disappointing, I will not go there for burgers and these new fries. Edit after business reply: No, I did not leave this review while at your establishment and NO a manager did not come to my table. I did not ask for a manager, so you would have no idea who I am. Unfortunately, it was really hard to eat here. The egg was cooked pretty well, the potatoes had absolutely no flavor... They were bland, some soft, some tasted raw, some more crunchy... The bacon was good. The biscuit was good, but there is no way that I should've spent $12.99 on this. And also wasn't the cleanest environment and service was pretty slow. I ordered the mushroom Swiss burger, and oddly, the burger tasted very bland. The patty was not seasoned at all, and somehow, even the mushrooms had no flavor. For almost $20 (for 1 burger, fries, and drink), this is definitely not worth the price or drive if you are coming from out of town. Laid back cafe feel tucked away in new Braunfels and the food is phenomenal. We had chili cheese tots as an appetizer, a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings, and chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, Mac & cheese and green beans. The only thing that disappointed was the Mac and cheese but it's a new recipe so we can let it slide. Every food item was piping hot and the sweet tea was really good just like the service. Ordered a cheeseburger and fries with a side of ranch to go. Arrived before it was ready (it hadn't been sitting there waiting for me). Got it home and the bottom bun was so soggy I couldn't even peel it off...it DISENEGRATED!!! Why you may ask? It was wrapped in paper you may say... The reason was because my soggy, limp fries were laying in a puddle of grease with the wrapped burger along side. For $15 + AUTOMATIC tip placed on my bill (which DID NOT INCLUDE MY M.I.A. side of ranch) I would've rather gone to DQ! PAT'S is NOT what it was under this new ownership. The place has tea gone downhill, I've been coming here for almost 14 years. The customer service is always great and still is, but the food is not the best. This time we got all you can eat catfish, Reuben sand which, and fried shrimp. The catfish had bones and scales in it, and the Reuben sandwich tasted like it had been sitting out for a while if you want a good one I recommend Krauses. The only thing worth getting is the fried shrimp. read more

My family and I have been eating at Pats Place since 1980 (42 years) and for the most part it's always been a pleasant experience (good food, good service, good pricing). Now that Pat's has been bought out (new management) we've eaten their several times over the past couple of months. Each time it's gotten progressively worse (slow service, cold food, increased pricing). I understand most places have increased their pricing as of late but if that's their plan they need to increase their service also. Our waitress was relatively rude and unprofessional. The food was cold when delivered and then our waitress disappeared for a long time. Several of our friends have noticed the changes and were disappointed also. I recognize things change and not always for the better. This is definitely not the Pat's Place we're accustomed to. A nice and friendly NB hotspot to eat. It get pretty crowded so we ate outside in the treehouse. Our server Dawson was fantastic. He was attentive and provided excellent service. Planned a little staycation in the country and this was our first stop of the day, Pat's Place for brunch that's highly rated. The food was excellent and service was good as well. We had mimosas and a few options for brunch. My shrimp poboy was different from any other that I've had for sure. Came with cocktail sauce instead of tartar and the shrimp was fried really crispy. The chicken and waffles were a hit for me. It was spicy chicken and waffles that came in a jalapeño maple sauce and man, it was to die for! My bf loved his chicken fried steak. Here's hoping i do not get sick by the looks of the dirty nasty window they sat us by. The place could really use a deep cleaning. I am hoping the kitchen is cleaner than the dining room. I would not call it award winning meatloaf. It was ok and would have been better as a sandwich. The mashed potatoes were Luke warm and bland. The gravy was good. My wife got the stuffed baked potato. It was stuffed with cheese sauce, broccoli, and taco meat. The potato itself was overdone and mushy. The stuffing was good however. My wife also got a lemonade that tasted like flavored water and not much lemonade. read more

We had 4 To-go boxes (3 meals and an appetizer) and 2 small cups (ranch) with lids... no napkins, utensils or packets of condiments... no way that those 5 items cost more than $0.80 in cost to them (I had my own restaurant at one time). Thought my friends and I would try Pats Place. Good appetizers and great chicken enchiladas. Great service. Was surprised on how expensive the wine is for this place. $9 is too much for only about 3 ounces of wine. We are used to the usual $6 at other restaurants here in New Braunfels and Gruene for about 6 ounces of good wine. Y'all should rethink your wine prices for us folks who love wine with lunch and dinner! My friends and I were very disappointed because we did not purchase any wine because of that price. I recently ate at this location and ordered the 'Fried Catfish Plate'. When I received the plate, I could not get the fork to separate the fish as it was very rubbery, gray in color and off color throughout the first piece of fish I tried. Something was not right about the fish so I took a photo and then called the waitress over to come get the plate. I showed her and she agreed it did not look right. So I ordered something else. The female 'manager' came over to add insult to the bad fish experience to argue with me that, "She ate some of the fish and that is how their fish tastes." She did not want to hear that it was rubbery and dark gray throughout the fish. She rambled on about getting the fish from Granzin 's. Meanwhile the four people at the next table were alarmed that a man at the bar was screaming the whole time they were there. It turned out to be the male owner. To summarize, my experience was bad rubbery fish and an owner who did not respect the customers at the next table and the female manager who wanted to argue about bad fish and blame it on another business. We were really fortunate to get a table here on a Sunday after church! We were able to get seated right away and opted for the outdoor patio, where they had brunch specials not available inside. The patio is really fun: there was music, a separate bar, and picnic tables. Service was wonderful: everyone we interacted with was pleasant and attentive. Our server on the patio was excellent! He turned the music down when we got up there and even shared his own guitar work with us. For brunch, my husband ordered the chicken and waffles and I had Oma's breakfast casserole with a side of avocado. The casserole was okay, the potatoes inside were a bit under done. I was also left a little disappointed that there were no bell peppers, despite it being advertised on the menu. The casserole was mostly cheese. That said, the hash browns were quite good. The chicken and waffles my husband had were a better choice. The jalapeño maple syrup they advertise is good, though it has an almost Tabasco flavor and feels less sweet. That said, it's overall pretty decent. Overall, I'd come back, though probably not for breakfast. The lunch menu looked a lot more promising. read more

The food was fresh, hot and delicious! Ordered cheese enchiladas and they were wonderful, highly recommend. I don't like their chips, they were too thick and corny but the rest of the fam enjoyed them. Great tea and food came out pretty quick even though it was packed for lunch. I'm in agreement with some of the more recent reviews. Pat's has changed with the new ownership. The food isn't as good and the prices have gone up. I understand prices rising with inflation, but not if the quality is going down. Last time I was there, the salsa was bland. The burger patty was dry/over cooked. The server was nice and friendly. My bean and cheese nachos were just as my memory recalled. Their chips are thicker thus crispier than most. Hubby had an excellent CFS with mashed potatoes and fried okra. Family members from three cities met up at local icon Pat's for an early lunch before an afternoon of fun downtown shopping. Famous for chicken fried steak, burgers, and Mexican food. We started off with a GIANT basket of fried pickles with Ranch dressing for dipping. Crunchy and juicy, the pickles were a win. Two of our group ordered hamburgers: a mushroom Swiss burger and a regular cheese burger. Meat was hearty and well cooked, toppings were tasty. We also had the bean chalupas and unfortunately those fell short. The tostadas quickly became soggy and the beans were pretty flavorless. Lackluster lettuce and tomatoes didn't pop up the flavor. Our server was fabulous - SO cheerful and friendly, made recommendations, was attentive throughout our meal. She was a fun addition to our experience. read more
