The papaya salad was really fresh but didn't have the essential Thai fish sauce taste to it. Our entrees were pretty lacking, with my pad being way too saucy. Hidden gem with the best Thai food in island. The panang curry is my favorite as it has a bold taste and the curry is never runny or too thick. I also enjoy the pad kee mao noodles and how they grill the noodles a little to improve the taste. Their crispy rice salad is a unique and delicious dish they offer and it's so delicious. The green curry was good, however I pulled a very long hair out of it, so that made me lose most of my appetite. The pad see ew was not bad, but also kind of had this vodka aftertaste, which was interesting to say the least. We ordered online, which I would recommend doing if you aren't eating in, so you don't need to wait. We asked for chili oil/sauce on the side, but had to pay an extra $3 for it, so that was a surprise also. The workers got our take out ready pretty quickly. The restaurant itself was kind of hot inside even with 2 AC's running. Not the cleanest, but not dirty. Overall this place was ok. Here's a place to Thai for!! Pattaya is a city in Thailand though Pattaya Thai isn't as clear viewing them from the outside. There's zero parking it's basically the luck of finding street parking which sadly is a huge challenge with the sink hole blocking off majority of the street parkings just steps away that's disrupting the flow. Walking in it was more of a bar vibe large decent bar top with several booths and tables, there was just one staff taking care of it all though it was a mellow day I can just imagine it can be quite a challenge as it took a moment to greet me I waited patiently as requested to be seated outside. Well yes they serve Thai food and I knew exactly what I wanted...Pad Thai! That is until I glanced at the menu and almost reconsidered looking at many other options but stood my ground and got their Pad Thai with tofu $14. It all came out really fast and this dish isn't your typical dry stir fry it's quite saucy that reminded me of it's similarity to Yakisoba is filled with tofu, cabbage, carrots, sprouts and pile of crushed peanuts. One thing I do love is that you can choose your spice level of Mild, Medium or Hot and decided to keep it medium which was the perfect level for me, not sure if you're able to see the chunks of red chili. Great food I love the chill vibe here just really sad of the lag to fix the sink hole (nothing got started since October 2022) sadly is affecting the flow here which I hope won't be for very long...show this place some love. It has a unique vibe inside. Thai used to be the old Cooke Street diner location. The bar is unique and is actually a good idea to include in an exotic restaurant. They've recently re-opened at their new location and probably new cooks too. My husband used to frequent their former location weekly and used to rave about their food. This new location hasn't been getting those rave reviews so something is up. We walked in on Saturday for dinner with the family. Menus and waters were brought to us immediately and our server was really nice and friendly. We ordered 4 dishes. Kinda peeved because my daughters salt and pepper shrimp came out about 10 minutes after all the other 3 dishes. Hate that. My noodles were good and my daughter enjoyed her salt and pepper shrimp, although it isn't anything like the Chinese fried style that she was expecting. Todays dinner: Tofu Summer Rolls: Tofu was hot off the grill and the temperature contrast with the cold vermicelli and pickled veggies made was perfect. Dipping sauce was delicious too. Would recommend eating it while it's fresh before the tofu cools down too much. Papaya salad: fresh, crunchy, healthy and delicious. Perfect amount of sauce and flavor. Tom Kha soup with Chicken: THE BEST!!! Packed with so much flavor, this is my favorite Thai dish ever! Evil Curry with Beef and Sticky Rice: amazing, super delicious and so much flavor! Options available for spiciness level or they have their assorted chili peppers and sauces available to customize it to your liking. Quite literally the worst service I have ever received at a restaurant. Went with my girlfriends fairly late as it was open late. Went were sat down in the back patio area which was nice. Although we sat there, for almost 25 minutes, until anybody acknowledged us or even brought us a water. It got to the point where I was wondering around the restaurant looking for somebody to take our order. Ordered the pad Thai. It was not good. Having lived in L.A. and having very good pad Thai, this place was below even the very very lowest standard. Do not recommend going at all. This is a VASTLY over-rated Thai restaurant. I do not have a problem with their ambiance. I do not have a problem with their parking. I don't have a problem with their service. My problem is with their food and their prices. We ordered: 1) Green Curry with Seafood ($20 plus $4 for sticky rice) 2) Drunken Noodles with Shrimp ($18) 3) Sweet & Sour Fish ($20) 4) Spring Rolls ($11) 5. Roti With Ice Cream ($10) The green curry's taste was ok (6 out of 10). The vegetables were mushy. The most bizarre thing was the color. I've never seen a Thai green curry this color. The way it stained the fish and seafood I swear they are adding a green coloring to it. It did not seem like freshly made green curry paste. If this was a $16 or $18 dish it might be ok, but with rice this dish cost $24 which is absolutely absurd. The Drunken Noodles was probably the best of the dishes. However the noodles didn't have that high temperature sear on them that I really like and look for. There was a lot of vegetables with it and that I did appreciate. The Sweet & Sour fish was ok. I'm pretty sure they buy the fish pre prepped/breaded and just warm it up then toss it together with the vegetables and the sauce. The spring rolls was a huge disappointment. Clearly frozen and just fried. For the price they charge, I expect much more. There wasn't even sufficient lettuce to wrap them in. This place should be ashamed of the way they serve these spring rolls. The desert (Roti) was pretty good. Its like a flattened croissant with ice cream on it. Unique and I've never had that before. Balancing everything out, this place is a 3* at best. If you want decent Thai food at a cheaper price point there's many options. If you want phenomenal Thai food at about the same price point, check out Olay's is chinatown/downtown. read more

Pattaya Thai used to be a bar on Queen Street near Cooke Street next to the Aloha Beer. They are back in business after being closed for a few years. You will find them now at the former Cooke Street Diner spot. There's only street parking and you may find parking on Cooke St or on the side streets. Pattaya Thai are open for lunch and dinner. There were several seating inside as well as outside or at the bar area, but not sure if they are serving liquor at this time. It was BYOB when I stopped by several months ago. Restaurant was more spacious and not as dark as the old location. The Thai tea was good but I preferred the Thai coffee since it was a little stronger and I like coffee. The waiter was nice to let me have a sample of the Thai tea. There were a few lunch specials but I wanted to order spring rolls and Pad Ki Mao for take out. I requested medium spicy level for the Pad Ki Mao and it was still tasty as I've remembered. Portions may not be as large as the food were placed in the small rectangular reusable take out containers. Great to have a Thai restaurant close to work, but just can't guarantee to find close parking. Pattaya Thai is located across Karen's Kitchen and near Anytime Fitness. And they are back! Run by the some lady who did the old one next to aloha beer, their new location is next to the doggy day care. Being that they just opened recently they are still working out the kinks, getting and training employees, and getting their alcohol license. But it is BYOB for the time being, Feb 2022. The setting is really nice and they have some out door seating as well as nice indoor seats and a couple sofa areas with tables. The windows are nicely tinted so when 5pm rolled around I didn't totally feel like I was baking in there between the tint and the AC it was quite comfortable. The best news is that the food is still just as good as before! Ordered the pad Thai and it was really good, generous portion and had a nice taste and good amount of pork. I definitely recommend rotti with ice cream! It is so good, like a warm cut up fried pancake with ice cream on it. Tonight I ordered Mango Sticky rice at Pattaya. I saw the menu said it was seasonal so I walked in and asked if they had it that day and they said yes. After putting in the order, I stood around inside for a couple minutes then told the folks at the register that I'd wait outside for my order. We were standing around outside for another 10 minutes so then we decided to sit down in their outdoor seating. Context - they only had two tables on a Friday night. So the servers walked past us several times, saw us sitting there with our dogs, waiting for our mango sticky rice. I checked my Apple Pay, I had ordered it 20 minutes ago. By 27 minutes, my mango sticky rice finally comes out. The server didn't say anything like "sorry for the wait" nothing. He just asked if I needed utensils. I said no because idk how long that would take. So I come home and the sticky rice is smokey *sad face* The rice tastes like a brisket when it should taste like sweet condensed milk. I want to give 3.5 stars. We have gone twice for take out. First time, I ordered the seafood Tom yum soup (medium spicy), green curry with beef (medium spicy), sticky rice, drunken noodles with pork (medium spicy). Prices are reasonable (a little cheaper than our go-to Thai restaurant), but the sticky rice is over priced (small portion for $4). Tom yum soup was too sweet to our liking and the medium spicy level was not that hot. So second time, I just ordered the green curry with beef (hot spicy) and drunken noodles with pork (hot spicy). Oddly enough, both were a bit more bland and less spicy than our first time. But, the portions were a little bigger (both containers were full to the brim). We ordered from here for sheer convenience, as it is within walking distance from our home. Online ordering is easy, but please note that there is now an additional online processing fee. There was no online processing fee when I ordered the first time, but two weeks later, there is now a fee. Therefore, you might want to just phone in your order. There's dog-friendly outdoor patio dining. Overall, the portions are decent for the price (except for the rice), but the flavor and spicy level is inconsistent. It's not our fave Thai spot on the island, but will probably still visit in the future because of the convenient location, portions and reasonable prices. What a great find! I just happen to drive by this place, and looked them up on Yelp. It looked good, so I gave them a chance. It was great chance despite the layout and location. I really don't care for the area. Parking is difficult, it is hot, and just not a pleasant area, but this place is worth the effort. At first, when you walk in, it throughs you off with the large bar that dominates the room. All you need to know is that the food is really good. I orded the Thai Iced Tea and Yum Woomsen. The tea was so pretty with the way they served it, still not mixed, but with the layers of liquids still in their pour swirls. For the Yum Woomsen, which is a warm seafood salad with noodles, I ordered Thai Hot!. Finally a place that knows how to use chilies. The salad was amazing and the chilies heat perfect. Stopped by here for lunch the other day with a friend. I ordered my favorite "Drunken Noodles" and my friend ordered the Pad Thai. As usual, I ordered the spiciest level of "Thai Hot" and really looked forward to a delicious lunch. First of all, it wasn't very spicy at all, which was extremely disappointing, and the portion was on the smaller side. They made it vegan and the tofu was delicious and the noodles were a pleasant texture. I can't say this was my favorite place for Thai noodles, but our first choice was closed on Sunday. I came here for a late lunch with a friend. We were actually in the SALT area but decided we needed to get lunch at a less bougie place. So we walked down the street and saw Pattaya. I think this place used to be or is still a bar. It kind of has a weird shape, but there is some outside seating and quite a few tables inside even though they are a little awkwardly situated. There were a few other people eating when we walked in, so I don't think getting a table for 2 or 4 for lunch would be difficult. I wonder if it gets busier for dinner, though. We ordered a couple dishes to share. I also got a Thai tea. The food was good. It wasn't the best Thai food I've ever had, but I'd be back if I were in the area and wanting Thai food. Food is okay, I got a crab fried rice and tom yum. I kept eating the crab fried rice since I was craving it so bad but some bites would have little pieces of the crab shell. The tom yum was okay, me and my mom ordered the shrimp version. It only came with 3 shrimp in the serving. For the price, you could eat somewhere better. It was slightly annoying that the photos which included the price wasn't updated. We saw that the crab fried rice was 18 from the online. But in person it was like 28. Just for the fried rice. Its also understandable that if we came in and the bob haired server took our order but asked if we can close the tab since it ended her shift. It felt like we were getting rushed when most of our food haven't even came in yet. Its understandable if its a fast food area but this place would be considered as a restaurant. And to look annoyed after just wasn't it. Just cuz you want ur portion of the pay of the meal (tips). It doesn't mean you can rush us to pay, when most of the food haven't even arrived yet. Paid 100+ for 4 items in the restaurant. PLUS they charge for take out boxes. (50 cents each) since when does a restaurant charge for take out bags and boxes?? I did an online order for Pattaya Thai on Friday night for nine different items to pick up at 5:45PM. I got there around 5:50 to find out that they didn't have my order ready! The worker said the receipt didn't print, but she was very sincere and apologetic about the mistake. Because they're still relatively new, I would recommend calling to make sure that your online order went through to avoid what happened to me. Luckily it wasn't busy when I went, so they were able to make my order within about twenty minutes. I was close by, but the worker said that there are three options for parking: stalls infront of Karen's kitchen, stalls on Ilaniwai St (only after a certain time), and street parking. I got the mild panang curry with tofu. I didn't expect it to be so spicy even with mild, but maybe I'm just weak. I don't have much to say besides it was spicy, which kind of overpowered the taste. I couldn't really taste the peanuts, but there were a good mix of ingredients (bell pepper and tofu mainly). I also took a bite of my friends mango sticky rice and it was so good! Overall a good meal outside of the normal downtown waikiki offerings for tourists. Protip: due to some construction going on around the nearby park, finding parking can be a hit or a miss. One of the major roads near the park was sealed off to traffic when I visited in Dec 2022. I luckily went to pattaya thai after work hours and parked in the across business office lot cause I knew none of the businesses were open and the risk of getting my rental car towed would be low. Food: Good menu offerings and different cuisine bases from rice dishes, curries dishes to noodle dishes. My party and I devoured everything and found the flavors and portions to be good and fair respectively. The owners are very nice and accommodating. I made reservations on a weekday at 7pm, but probably didn't need to as the place was quite empty. They have lovely indoor and bonus outdoor patio seating.
