Found this place by accident. We had some friends in town and they wanted to try some Thai food. We were planning to try the Thai place a block down from this one but someone waiting for their takeout said "go in there, best Thai food I have ever had, we've been going here for 10 years." The food was delicious and the service was par to none. The restaurant is very inviting and a calm atmosphere where you can enjoy some good food. Our server which was the manager as well treated us with so much respect and was very attentive. Definitely give this place a try if you love Thai food. read more

I used to eat at Phuket Thai a lot when I was in grade school since it was located in our local town center. After it closed down a long time ago, I was excited to find out they had opened a location in Kakaʻako! During our visit, we ordered the crispy calamari, Thai crispy fried chicken, and Thai fried rice with beef. We also got a Thai iced tea and mango sticky rice for dessert. The portions here are huge! We were especially surprised when the calamari arrived, the serving was very generous and at a great price. It was crispy and came with a tangy dipping sauce that reminded me of a chili vinegar sauce. The Thai crispy fried chicken was served in large pieces and had a delicious lemongrass flavor. The beef fried rice was decent, although I remember it being more flavorful at the original Phuket Thai I used to visit. This version was a little milder than I expected, but still enjoyable. The Thai iced tea was refreshing and sweet. The mango sticky rice was tasty as well. The rice seemed a bit different from the sticky rice typically served at other Thai restaurants, but it was still a satisfying dessert. The restaurant wasn't too busy during our visit, although they had plenty of takeout orders. Our server was friendly and efficient, which made for a nice dining experience. Overall, we enjoyed the generous portions and yummy food. We'd definitely come back again to try other items on their menu! read more

This is truly the best Thai place in Honolulu and we have tried at least a half dozen restaurants on the island. The food is consistently tasty and fresh and the portions are generous. The seasoning is just perfect and while it is a tad inconvenient for us to get there, and while there are 3 Thai restaurants within walking distance to our Ala Moana condo, we think Phuket is worth the time and effort. We love the Drunken noodles and they don't break the noodles up as do some places with overcooked noodles. We love the Massaman curry and green curry and if we don't get this food for a couple of weeks we start fantasizing about it, LOL. In fact, picking up an order in an hour for lunch after this latest storm! Ruh Roh, Just picked up order and... Drunken noodles were half the portion it usually is, and all the noodles were broken into tiny bits! I called to express my disappointment and they didn't seem to care too much. Spring rolls were great and curry, too. But c'mon---now you are just like our neighborhood Thai places with the small portions and broken noodles. Too SAD! read more

I want to start off by highlighting the outstanding service we received when we ate dinner here. We were so well taken care of and we had a birthday cake which they stored and even brought out extra plates and utensils when it was time to bring it out! The food was solid for Thai, but the highlight was the fried chicken. So crispy and I tasted a lemon grass sort of marinade. Will go back just for that! Puke--et. Was by far the most undesirable Thai food I've had in my life. The pad Thai noodles were not flavorful despite w chicken, was very plain. It also came with a free piece of long black hair intertwined with the noodles. The fried chicken was dry, hard to chew. The spring rolls were bland. The sweet chili sauce was packed with artificial nastiness of overly sweet sugar. Did not balance any of the entrees it came with. Ended up tossing the food. I still haven't found a really good Thai spot on island, unfortunately Phuket was pretty average when I visited on a Friday evening. we tried a bunch of dishes including the papaya salad (totally bland and watery), the chicken wings (well fried again so bland), pad kee mao (bland and noodles were too soft), pad see ew (this was the only good dish, lots of wok hei and noodles were perfect), Thai garlic (drowning in coconut milk, too little seasoning), seafood with black bean sauce (decent, plenty of seafood, flavor was a bit bland too). This is the one of the my go to places to eat around Kakaako when I'm feeling for some Thai cuisine. It is within walking distance of from my home and right in the heart of the neighborhood. Street parking is also available if you don't live around the area. I usually order the yellow curry, spring rolls, and tom yum. I always order pad sew ew whenever I go to a Thai restaurant. The noodles were wide and delicious, but the sauce was more sweet and tangy and more vinegar-like, less shoyu. Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... My friends and I wanted to try Phuket Thai Café in the Kaka'ako area where parking is challenging. They remembered that this well-known restaurant used to be somewhere else... However, with the current parking challenge, it's still a popular spot with lots of takeout orders. Customers park right in front, run inside, and grab their orders. We actually parked across the street and down the block for free. Many eyes in the car help to look for signs, tick marks on the ground, meters, etc. Inside, the restaurant seemed dark and had a minimalistic vibe. It was almost like a warehouse feel with a tall ceiling. Service was efficient and polite. We got the pad see ew, yellow curry with sticky rice, and fried chicken as recommended by the waiter. I'm not a chicken person, so, when I say that it was good fried chicken... yeah. Pad see ew and yellow curry were okay. I think the parking situation would still be an obstacle for me to return. If you're really craving Thai and need it fast (and happen to be in Kakaako), then look no further. The menu is pretty standard for Thai restaurants, but the service does have a quick turnaround from order to pick-up. While they are pretty geared toward take-out, you can also dine in. The dine-in experience is pretty casual, and while I've seen large parties eat in, they can it does take up most of the space. I'm no aficionado of Thai food but I thought it was okay. I enjoy their curry, and the (basic) pad thai. While I'm sure there are better places, you can't beat your friendly neighborhood Thai restaurant. read more

One of the best Thai places on island! I've ordered from this place plenty of times but have only ordered takeout as it's near my office. However, the dining area is immaculately clean and well-lit, and the woman that runs the counter is so sweet! You can order takeout either via phone or online; I personally order through Uber Eats with the pickup option so I can pay online and just pick up upon arrival. I've tried half of the menu at this point, including spring rolls, fried chicken, pad see ew, green curry with sticky rice, and the pad Thai. Everything is delicious and so flavorful. This visit, I ordered the pad thai with medium spice and it was SO good. For those that like to have a glass of wine with their food, the pad thai pairs extremely well with a Riesling, just trust me on this. Love this little hole in the wall Thai restaurant. Been at lunch and dinner as I work very close by. The food is great and reasonably priced. It tastes very fresh. The yellow curry is very good, I have had this dish which I don't remember the name that has three kind of seafood, including a white fish, shrimp and calamari with fresh vegetables that are nice and crunchy. Didn't care for the pineapple rice, thought it lacked pineapple which is disappointing since we're in Hawaii, the chicken satay was good, the coconut milk soup was delicious. We were en route to enjoying a late afternoon walk as we passed by Phuket Thai Café when my husband suggested eating before going for a walk. It was around 4:30 PM, and I quickly checked Yelp for Phuket Thai Café's business hours and luckily found they were open, unlike many restaurants with split shifts between lunch and dinner service. We walked into the clean, empty, and sparsely decorated restaurant, and a smiling female worker cheerfully greeted us in the Thai language, "Sawasdee kha," and motioned to sit anywhere. She quickly brought us menus, eating utensils, and glasses of iced water while asking if we wanted any other beverages to drink. Since this was the first time we've been into this less-than-year-old restaurant location but have enjoyed their food at their former location on Queen Street, it didn't take us very long to select our menu items. We ordered only three menu items while keeping in mind that we were going to take a walk afterward. Our server transcribed and repeated our order before taking the order sheet into the kitchen. FOOD: - Thai Fish Patties or Tod Mun Pla: these spongy and springy disks of puréed fish are packed with traditional Thai flavors such as Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, fresh lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, chilies, and coriander leaves. This appetizer was served with a sweet chili dipping sauce. We enjoyed the textures, presentation, and traditional flavors we tasted while traveling in Thailand. Also, the fish patties are commonly found at Thai street food vendors and restaurants. Still, we only ate them at restaurants because our American digestive systems weren't accustomed to street vendors, so that we couldn't compare the flavors between street food vendors and restaurants. $14.50 - Green Curry or Kaeng Khiao Wan with Shrimp: we selected the Thai green curry, which, by its nature, is the spiciest when compared with red, yellow, massaman, or paneng. Thanks to the addition of coconut milk, the tangy green curry is also sweet and not fiery. The vegetables (eggplant, fresh basil, lemongrass, and lime leaves), shrimp, green curry, and coconut milk were like a symphony of sweet, sour, spicy, and salty. $16.95 - Drunken Noodles or Pad Kee Mao with Pork: what can I say? I love Asian broad flat rice noodle dishes, and Pad Kee Mao is similar to Cantonese dry-fried Shahe noodles or chow fun. However, pad kee mao differs in its spice-level and its use of basil, chopped peanuts and garlic. Huge kudos to the chef at Phuket Thai Café who has control of the wok-frying heat as the broad rice noodles were lightly charred but remained soft and unbroken. $14.95 - Rice: we asked for two bowls of rice to accompany the green curry however, our friendly server suggested to order just one bowl since their portion size is generous and easily shareable for two people. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount as we're used to seeing rice served in 4-1/2" bowls but not here! $3.00 Although we were the only customers dining in at the time, the server fielded and processed several phone-in takeout orders before another server arrived at 5 PM. More customers came in at 5 PM but we had the restaurant to ourselves for about a half hour while enjoying a short conversation with our server and her friendliness and efficency. We left the restaurants with satiated appetites and smiles on our faces. After all, Thailand is called the "Land of Smiles." read more

I haven't been to Phuket since they were at McCully Shopping Center many years ago so it was a big change to see this very non upscale location on Cooke Street near Queen. There aren't many tables so we were lucky to find one without reservations on a Friday night. Despite the constant packages of takeout food being brought out and picked up, we were able to order our food pretty quick. I did learn a lesson about the amount of heat there is in the "medium" Panang Curry dish. I was the brave one to try the curry first, since I ordered it. To say it was spicy is an understatement. Fire breathing dragon was how my mouth felt. Thankfully, our server felt sorry for us and took the dish back and gave us a mild version, which was much, much better. We were all happy with our selections, with the crispy eggplant being the big hit of the night. We'll be back - guaranteed. read more

This may be the best Thai food I've had in a while! My parents and I have been struggling to find some good Thai food since moving here, and I think we finally found the winner. Sorry to the Thai restaurant out in Aiea, you've been voted off the island. We arrived a little before peak lunch rush and didn't have to wait to be seated, as we were the only ones dining in. One person was getting take out when we arrived, but other than that, there wasn't much going on. I'm surprised there wasn't more of a crowd, because the food was so delicious. We ordered panang curry with chicken, pad see ew with chicken, pad kee mao with beef, and mango sticky rice--all entrees were mild to medium spice level. I could have taken it a bit spicier I think, but wanted to err on the side of caution...you know how Thai spices can be. The mango sticky rice was the perfect way to end the meal! I'd recommend ordering it, even if you think you can't eat anything else. I didn't think I could eat anything else, but I really wanted this dessert badly haha. Portions are generous and the price is surprisingly reasonable. I really appreciated how they didn't chintz on the amount of protein in each dish, it was worth every penny. Everything was about $61 with tax, before tip, which is really good considering the amount of food we ordered. I am beyond thrilled to have found a Thai restaurant close by! I'll be coming back a lot to get my Thai food fix since I've been deprived for so long. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a delicious meal. read more

I've never eaten in I've only DoorDash from here just because it's a little bit away from my house and it's open late. I can say the spring rolls aren't my favorite. They're really greasy not crunchy. They're made with a weird outside layer and they just aren't authentic spring rolls. 4/10 The pad Thai mild is pretty good. 8/10. :) The Thai tea is 10/10 little bit less ice would be amazing but it's really good ! read more

Ordered takeout, while it did take quite a while, it was 100% worth the wait. Chicken satay was flavorful, perfect amount of seasoning and sauce, comes with dipping sauce. Green papaya salad was great! Wish I had gotten medium or a step up from mild as it was not spicy at all. I played it safe, we got it Laos style and it was perfect, good crunch, good size and good price! Tom yum soup came with an adequate amount of seafood, broth was great and was tangy. Phuket Thai Cafe moved down Kamakee Street to the newer location on Cooke Street. I find myself drawn here more often then I probably should. The location is convenient. And while there is no dedicated parking for the restaurant, I have never had a problem pulling up to the curb and quickly picking up or parking within a block on the street for longer eating in. Eating in is best as, some of the favorite dishes get a little compromised in takeout. Like my favorite spring rolls (fried in yumm, rice paper wrap) or the nicely battered and fried calamari. The first time I enjoyed the company of a great bunch of yelp friends and delicious food. Since then being back many times for my favorite Thai beef salad or papaya salad or one of the many curries or stir fries. What can I say, I prefer Phuket Thai's cooking over mine! Hahah. Prices are middle of the road. Portions are generous. And Thai food is always delicious in leftovers! Hmmm think I will make a visit to Phuket Thai for lunch today! read more

The food here has always beet top notch. If you like Thai curry any of them are good but my simple light go to meal has always been the Phuket Salad and crispy fried chicken. I would go at least twice a month when they were located in the Ward area but now that they moved closer to the downtown area it's a bit farther out so when I want my Phuket Thai fix I order it through door dash. read more

Midweek cravings and the choice was Thai food, and I was not disappointed at all. My order was sticky rice, yellow curry (med spice), spring rolls and papaya salad. Oh and I can't forget dessert of mango sticky rice. My curry had just the right spice of hotness and the potatoes and carrots had a crunch and not overcooked. I added tofu to the curry order and it went well! I love papaya salad and it was very satisfying. The spring rolls were very plump and filling, and the mango sticky rice complimented the entire meal. The dishes are meant for sharing because they're huge!! 2 dishes can be split between 2 people and still have enough for one more meal. I love the rice noodles with basil. The sauce is perfect and basily. I've tried the yellow and green curry so far and both were delicious. I think I liked the yellow more imo. Gloomy weather cravings... Something about the weather just gravitates your mood to a certain comfort craving vibe which I love as it makes the thought process somewhat easier. With a great menu selection me and my bestie had to narrow down our selection and started with the spring rolls (long rice, potatoes, onions, carrots wrapped in crispy rice paper) are six little half sized pieces aren't cut but seems to be prepared that way then fried which are garnished with lettuce leaves, cucumber, mint sprigs and chili vinegar sauce...super yummy and crispy the freshness of the veggies balanced it out just perfectly. Bestie ordered Peanut Sauce Curry (Sweet Peanut Sauce Chili, Fresh Basil, Bell pepper, Lime leaves and Coconut Milk) and I got the Rice Noodles with Basil (Thick Rice Noodles, Bean Sprouts, Garlic, Basil) all stir fried in a tangy sauce. All dishes you're able to adjust the spice level of Mild, Medium or Hot and to have it with a choice of protein (tofu, chicken, shrimp, seafood or vegetables...some have choices of beef or pork as well). I went medium bestie mild we loved our choice along with the prices which is just right even though we both didn't finish any of the dishes being able to make it somewhat our own is nice. I have always loved Phuket Thai, since their early days at McCully Shopping Center. It was my first taste of Thai food and I was in love. The food at this new location on Cooke St. tastes exactly the same as it did years ago. My favorites are the fried calamari, pad Thai and panang curry seafood with a side of sticky rice. The stuffed chicken wings were my favorite also, but sadly it's no longer on the menu. The fried calamari has always been good, especially with the sweet chili dipping sauce. I get the pad Thai with chicken. It has that perfect nutty tamarind flavor. I can't do spicy, so I get everything mild. I rotate between the green curry and the panang curry. I love them both equally. The green curry has eggplant, so if eggplant isn't your thing don't get it. The panang curry is basically your red curry with peanut sauce. If you've never tried panang curry it's spectacular. Of course, if you're doing the curry you'll need a side of sticky rice. Trust me, sticky rice not white rice. The service was on point.
