this place continues to be a chill place for a drink to end the long week. service continues to be good. kind of nice they decorated for the holiday :D

Came here for a friends birthday and had a great time! The music was Latin themed on this Friday night, made me feel like I was back in Puerto Vallarta! We got there around 830 and there was no line, but there was a line to get in later in the night. Good music all night and decent priced drinks! About $10 for well drinks, good prices for LA in my opinion. don't go out much in dtla anymore but I would come back to pattern bar the next time I'm in the area! They also serve food, we didn't order any but they were making tacos that smelled so delicious!!

Left was one of the mezcal cocktails. Right is a Paloma. Killer cocktails. Loved!

Total stumble upon situation that lead us here. While waiting for a show to start at the Orpheum, we headed to the rooftop bar at Ace but were put off by the long line. So I trusted in Yelp, as one does! And found this place which was a very fast walk. They check ids/Covid vaccine cards and inside it wasn't too packed but there were tables on the street too and lots of open windows. The line at the bar was light, the DJ was loud and playing great music! The sound sealed the deal. And then the bartender sweetened it by getting straight to us with no delay and making us delicious cocktails. We also ordered the shrimp tacos & the potato tacos which were crunchy and satiating. We were able to grab a booth and hang out. People were dancing, and it's small and intimate so everyone is front/center which makes it fun to people watch. We really enjoyed the DJ and just having an unexpected night at a bar with a club feel. Post Covid, it felt like such a treat and I'm so glad we ended up here to enjoy it! I'd definitely return.

After discussing the evening with my date. I don't understand why he paid $50.00 for reservations. No hostess to greet us, no table reserved, the bartender saw the RED tickets. But still charged us for drinks. What was the purpose for those ted tickets? The Christmas theme drinks were awful. They kept getting my dates food order wrong he had to settle for his tacos. My bacon wrapped tacos were good. The D.J. Played Christmas trivia music with games. That was cute. But not my thing. Do I recommend it? No. Not for $50.00. Just go to any bar. There all decorated for the holidays.

I attended the Drag Brunch hosted by Pixie Dot yesterday and it was an amazing experience. The show was so entertaining. The performers were beautiful and so talented. I hope they continue to feature drag brunches in the future. I'll be there! The venue is wonderful - lovely set up, extremely friendly and helpful staff, and delicious food. They have a fantastic margarita drink menu too. I had a strawberry infused margarita with spicy salt and it was the best margarita I have ever tasted.

Don't even bother, looks nothing like this

Bought a ticket from BucketListers.com to an event titled "Tinseltown: The Christmas Speakeasy in LA" at the Pattern Bar for $22. Total scam. Check out the 3 photos from the website used as advertisement, vs. the photo that was reality. We received 1 drink for the $22 which was ok. We could have walked in without the pre-purchased ticket though, so there was nothing "speakeasy" about it, and it was NOTHING like the advertised photos or experience.

    Cute bar on the corner

This bar is a swanky little establishment with fun decor, laid back aesthetic and pleasant staff. They were pretty busy before the covid incident emerged but it will prevail again. I enjoyed my conversation with the owner and his suggestion of the menu items. Ive been here a few times so my mind is collectively giving you the experience. The chicken tacos were good, the pastrami tacos did not need cheese and the chicken quesadilla could've used a dash more seasoning but all in all it was a snack for happy hour It is located on a busy corner with no parking but there are places within walking distance. It is right off the dash stop on spring street. Go visit and see what items they have added

    Cool place with good drinks

We were having dinner across the street when we heard good music. We decided to go inside. Small place with a dark intimate setting. Perfect for a date night and drinks. The Dj was playing good house music. The drinks were well made and fairly priced. We didn't try any of their food. My only gripe is that the restrooms could use some elbow grease. Lots of dust and debri. They didn't have any toilet seat covers. I find that very important considering covid and so on. Also their windows could use some windex. Hard to see outside through the mud streaks. Will I come again? Yeah I'll give them another chance.

Drinks: Really, really good. My absolute favorite was the boat drink with foam on top, but we split several others and I liked everything we tried. Vibe: Unmatched. There are several drinks on the menu with a theatrical presentation that gets the whole bar involved. The space is small, so you'll inevitably have your conversation interrupted by an alluring siren's call or some ceremonial rowers. This is a crucial part of the tiki experience for me. The bartenders all have their different spin and clearly are in it for the love of the game. We had a lot of fun chatting with the staff. Food: I ate 2 orders of soup dumplings and probably could have bodied down 5 more. They were ridiculously good, but prohibitively expensive.

Our waitress got us some free shots, very kind. :) Ambiance 4/5 I love the vibes, the darkness, the decor. It's just too stinky and smokey whenever they serve the Painkiller.

It wasn't your typical corner haunt. There was an intentionality here that turned a simple evening out into a genuine education. The curation of spirits was nothing short of impressive, but what set the experience apart was the conversation. I arrived knowing the difference between a glass and a bottle, but left with a newfound appreciation for the nuances of rum, the craftsmanship behind a smooth whiskey, and the unexpected complexities hidden within a well-made vodka. Each pour came with a story, a history, and a level of expertise that transformed every sip into a lesson. The atmosphere was the perfect anchor for it all--utterly chill and devoid of the frantic, forced energy you find elsewhere. It was the kind of place where the music sits at just the right volume and the lighting invites you to actually linger. It was refreshing to find a spot that treats its craft with such respect while keeping the vibe completely grounded. I walked out feeling a little more cultured and a lot more relaxed. Consider this my official notice: I'll definitely be back.

Echoing what everyone else has been saying - the service is SO slow. It was about 45 minutes before we were able to order our second drink and our water glasses were empty. They have so many runners bringing the drinks out but only a few servers and, from the looks of it, one bartender (on a Saturday night - what?!). The server was saying he was trying to find a manager to help out but they were nowhere to be found. Clearly management is fine with these service times since they're still making $$$. The drinks were delicious, and I loved that there were heaters on the patio (though they did get very hot at times). Our server was so kind and brought us a celebratory drink. I do wish there were more explanations with the beverages, especially for the Paid Vacation as most people will not realize you're supposed to bite into the buzz button for the tingly sensation. I would come back, but need some time for my wallet to recover first, haha!

We decided to get a drink to celebrate Father's Day, only to strike out at the first two bars we tried--I guess a lot of places are closed at 9:30 on a Sunday. This is how we ended up at Thunderbolt, a buzzy bar in Echo Park, just far enough away that we'd never made our way over. I loved it immediately. Thunderbolt has the friendly, comfortable atmosphere of a neighborhood bar and the hip aesthetic and high-level cocktails of a millennial boozer destination. (Not that young people can't or shouldn't hang out here, but it seems especially geared toward people like us, who drank at Walker Inn a decade ago.) We ended up sitting next to a guy who regularly drives up from Palos Verdes. I guess the place gets pretty busy, but it was ideal on a Sunday night. Happening but not crowded, with just enough space at the bar for us to grab two seats together. The bartender was great, super helpful and welcoming. He also made excellent drinks. Thunderbolt is one of those bars with an encyclopedic illustrated book for a menu. Not a long menu, just a detailed one, with a lot of information available about each drink. We got a Liquid Picnic and a Barcelonnette--just one round to close out the weekend. Both were delicious. The Liquid Picnic was a smooth, savory gin martini made with London dry gin, tomato, citron, vermouth, rosemary, and black pepper. I learned from the book that it used clarified tomato water. (There was also further reading about the clarification process.) The Barcelonnette was a mezcal sour with Suze, passionfruit, and lime, the foam made without egg white through some geeky mixologist process. Thunderbolt is not our neighborhood bar, but we plan to go back when we can to check out the rest of the menu. It's a wonderful place, well worth a jaunt on the freeway.
