Long story short: The Liberties DTLA has the best Guinness in Los Angeles. I've been to Griffins of Kinsale in Pasadena, the Auld Fella in Culver City -- nothing comes close to what you can get at the Liberties. Excellent presentation (great head/ dome), classic Guinness glasses, and rich, clean taste. The food and vibes are fantastic as well, with a big open floor plan and wide windows that let in the sun, ample seating for sports watching, and lots of big-screen TVs. It's a sophisticated mix of an authentic Dublin pub (they even have a "snug," as seen in traditional Irish bars, a cozy alcove with comfortable seating) and a lively American sports bar. A great place to go for celebrations, big sports events, or just knocking down a few Guinnesses at happy hour. The staff members are always friendly and make the time to introduce themselves. We've been coming here since its Plan Check days and stayed loyal after it became Liberties. It's consistently been a great spot, strong drinks, a solid beer and liquor selection, and food that always delivers (the burgers, fries, and pizza are all standouts). The bartenders are friendly, attentive, and genuinely on top of things, which is a big reason we've kept coming back. Over time, we've even met some of the owners, and the place has always felt welcoming and well-run, even through ownership changes. That's why this last visit stood out and not in a good way. The bar was packed for the basketball games, and the staff was clearly hustling. Honestly, they could've used more support behind the bar for a crowd like that. Instead, one of the partners seemed to take on the role of... social host. He made sure people knew who he was, but didn't actually step in to help where it mattered. We've seen other partners jump behind the bar or run food when things get busy, so the contrast here was hard to miss. At times, it felt less like leadership and more like a running announcement tour. Meanwhile, the team that was actually working kept pushing through a packed house. The vibe took another hit with the TVs. With so many screens already locked on basketball, it didn't seem like a big ask to change just one on baseball. One of the bartenders even put it on, but a few minutes later, after a guest played into Mr. Big Shot's ego, he went and changed it right back. Just unnecessary, and honestly felt a little performative. We still like this place and really appreciate the staff who show up and do the work. The menu sounds and looks promising, but unfortunately the food does not live up to the standards. It is extremely greasy and tastes like frozen food I can reheat in the oven/microwave. The fries were very bland along with the cauliflower bites I ordered. However, the drinks were decent. They have a solid selection of drinks and beer. We attended an engagement party at this venue and were surprised by the amount of space in being able to accommodate everyone. We found the seating very comfortable and the service was good. I love this place. I've been to LA twice in the past year and each time I've gone here for some great food and a magic pint of Arthur's finest, aka Guinness. There's a fantastic selection of Irish whiskey that will make Irish whiskey lovers smile, and reach for their wallet. The pint is close to perfect. 4.75 out of 5 on my scale with the cream sticking to the side of the glass all the way to the bottom. Food wise I LOVE a great Lamb Burger and the one at the Liberties ticks all the boxes. Their pizza choices run the gamut with lots of great options. I always have the Lamb Burger but I saw lots of pizza leaving the kitchen on both of my visits. A mere 4 minute walk away and close to both free street parking and paid lots, this is a great location and they serve up some decent pizza and pub food to go with both traditional Irish Whiskey and anything else you crave. Started my evening here for some drinks with the boyf and the service was great. Loved that they do happy hours on weekend -- the reason we ended up coming here while in town. We started with the frozen Irish coffee which was creamy, sweet and so strong. And I got a couple nitro espresso martinis which unfortunately weren't on the happy hour menu but were great. The happy hour menu was somewhat limited for drinks, as there was only like two beers and two cocktails that were available which was kind of a bummer, but the drinks are good. Liberties deserves more than 5 starss We were craving some juicy hamburgers and came upon this place. Wasn't sure what to expect because it was our first time, and seemed like a regular bar spot but Liberties exceeded in alll aspects. First off, the drinks were phenomenal. We ordered the irish coffee frozen and cold, and even got to try the hot version thanks to the owner (i think his name was ray), speaking of, he was so nice and welcoming. We could really tell he was passionate and loved his work. It really made our experience another level. Now on to the food, we ordered the Liberties hamburger and diavola pizza. Hamburger patty was sooo thiccc and juicy, cooked perfectly to medium rare as requested and the fries that came with it were very crispy. Pizza was flavorful from toppings to dough, I usually don't finish my crusts but we killed the entire thing. Their happy hour menu has great options and we even learned that they have trivia nights on wednesdays! I was visiting a couple of my friends who lived in a nearby apartment to The Liberties of Dublin. They frequented Liberties and suggested we go there for dinner. It had cool lighting, cozy booths, and classic 50s Motown playing in the background. Seemed like a great place to hang out. Service was totally fine. We didn't interact with the wait staff much, but we had a friendly server. Drinks and food came out rather quickly. I found their Irish coffees in 3 ways a unique offering. You can get the Irish Coffee hot, frozen, or like an iced cold brew. I opted to get the frozen version, because it reminded me of Erin Rose in New Orleans where I had my first ever frozen Irish Coffee. Liberties' was good but way more boozy than I expected. Not complaining, just saying. The frozen version came out thick like a chocolate shake. I got the chicken wings lemon pepper with a side of blue cheese. The wings were perfectly fried and full of flavor. I did find them to be on the saltier side though, so the blue cheese definitely helped. I tried my friend's burger and fries, which were awesome. Their fries were excellent. Golden brown and crispy on the outside. The burger was wagyu blended and had such a juicy texture. The sharpness of the white cheddar and tang from the mustard sauce gave the burger a unique taste. I would certainly get this dish for myself next time. read more

I walked here from the 7th Street/Metro Center station for a social. I ordered the lemon pepper chicken wings $13 according to their happy hour pricing ($15 otherwise). We sat in the patio, which had a spacious area and long table. I appreciated that they had a separate spot where you could get a water cup and refill it on demand. To order your food, you go up to the bartender, and you can pay up front to close your tab. I appreciated the bartender's friendly and welcoming attitude when I ordered. The lemon pepper wings tasted really savory with a seasoning that reminded me of Cajun flavors. This matched well with the lemony taste to create a great blend. They also provided me a good amount of wings that made me allowed me to share a few. Although I only reviewed the wings, the burger and fries dishes also looked great and sell at almost the same price as what I ordered. The Liberties of Dublin took over the space that Plancheck used to occupy. So that was our happy spot before they closed. So of course, my co-workers and I were excited to hear another place was going to take it over. Since they have opened, it's quickly become our spot to go for happy hours and after work hang outs. For happy hour, you place your order at the bar and they charge and ring you up there. The drinks and food are good. My go to drink is their whiskey mule. Their food is typical bar food, fries, chicken wings, pretzel bites but they have fried pickles. I know not everyone is a fan of pickles but if you are. You have to try these. The batter is light and airy and the dipping sauce is great! They didn't change much to the space. But it's very open especially when they open the windows. read more

Liberties of Dublin is nestled in a great location on the cusp of DTLA and Koreatown. I have been going here for the past year and truly enjoy myself every time. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and personable. Their menu items are well thought out, and the food quality is amazing, especially for a bar. My favorites are the vampire lamb burger and the newly added "On the lamb" pizza. Their wings (bone-in and boneless) are very popular and come in various flavors. The ambiance is welcoming, relaxed, with a layout for groups, parties, sports fans, and a person just wanting to unwind after work. Look what popped into the neighborhood and what a pleasant new addition it is! This new Irish pub replaced the old neighborhood bar/restaurant that was here before and it really has been a welcome addition to the neighborhood. I honestly didn't know if there was something else that was going to open up shop that's how long it's been. Before Liberties was PlanCheck and they closed because of the pandemic and since then the place has been empty until St. Patrick's Day Weekend came along and lo and behold the unveiling of The Liberties and good things are finally back. They have a whole whiskey list and more on the way too of a lot of interesting and international whisky choices. They also have a wide variety of beers to choose from. They definitely came ready to go and I can't wait to come back and see what more they have. The owners are cool. Brad and Craig really have a vision for the restaurant and what they hope to bring to downtown. They said they want to have entertainment nights along with whisky and beer flight club nights as well. Came here before a concert since it's walking distance from the venue. All I can say is I'm so excited to come back! The staff was friendly, they have plenty of beer on tap.
