So impressed by the staff and wow the portions are so plentiful... Can't believe you still get a salad.....bread....baked potatoes...and veggies for one low price.....So if you love the Chicken Pie Shop... We went this morning because the rating is 4 stars. But the only thing good about this place is the guy who answered the phone . The rest: food, flavor, freshness, presentation is 0 star. Or make that 1 star for the amount of salt and oil they used. Our food was swimming in oil. Our potatoes looked like they fell on the floor and were just scooped up. The French toast tasted like bread that was old and moldy and re-used. We had been hiking in the area and wanted to find a local place to have breakfast on a recent Sunday morning. We're glad that we tried Patty's. Here is what we liked: - Huge menu, lots of different options including standard fare as well as Greek and Mexican options - Lots of outdoor seating. It was a little annoying when a car alarm from the local Big Lots parking lot started ringing, but that wasn't Patty's fault. - I got the Mediterranean Omelet (which wasn't on the menu or special board, but our server told me about it when I asked about some of the other offerings. It was soooo good...lots of fresh spinach as well as the Gyro meat and feta cheese, tomatoes, etc. I asked for my hash browns extra crispy and they were perfect, and got pita bread on the side. - My wife and son got the Miramar and California Omelet's respectively and they both loved them. - Service was attentive...a lot of people arrived at the same time we did so it took a little longer than we would have expected, but it was very fresh when it came out. - Coffee was ok, nothing special but it kept getting refilled. Brunch is the best a Patty's! They have inside and outside seating. I love the French toast. My friend Carol often gets pancakes and asks for extra butter. I also sometimes get the vege omelette. Located in a shopping center in La Mesa so parking is ample. Smaller location not too ideal for large groups although I'm sure they would be able to accommodate one large group at a time. First timer here! The ambient is nice and quiet. The food taste great but with one complaint. I got the Miramar Omelette and it is small, no fluff and very flat. It is super thin. Cant get over how thin they were. From all my breakfast experiences, my Omelette that I have ever eaten have been generally fluffy and stuffed. Miramar was nowhere near that. Honestly disappointed but willing to come try other choices in the long menu. I would not recommend Omelettes here. Maybe try something else? Experience it yourself? My overall rating 3 out of 5. This is a cute little independent cafe in a strip mall shopping center. Inside is comfortable, clean and inviting. The food was very good. I had a gyros salad which was huge. The meat was tasty and juicy. It came with two small containers of salad dressing and Tzatziki sauce which I added to my salad. My granddaughter enjoyed a carne asada burrito. The Cafe serves American, Greek and Mexican. Our waitress Trish was superb and very attentive. I took my granddaughter for her birthday lunch. I love this little neighborhood, family owned coffee shop. I use that term because it reminds me so much of what a coffee shop was when I was young. It's not what the young kids talk about where you can only get coffee, a muffin and work on your laptop. If you're a foodie or food snob, you're probably going to turn your nose up at this place. To me it's the best food at a great price with friendly service. It's delicious, homestyle comfort food. My fav is the club sandwich with fries. A cute diner in beautiful La Mesa. This ain't no fancy place but the service was on point and the food was good. Not a long wait for a table. Came here for breakfast and had French Toast with bacon and eggs. The french toast was alright but the regular white toast was really good. Patty's Cafe just opened Aug 13th next to Big Lots in La Mesa, in the space Pedro's Mexican food was in for a few years, and a Greek-American place was in before that. We couldn't make it opening day but went the next morning. H got a breakfast combo and I got an appetizer combo, both about $8 and both good. The best thing on my plate was the falafel, crispy on the outside, crunchy on the inside, perfectly seasoned. I can't say the decor looked a lot different than I remember though I hadn't been there for a couple years. The wood chairs at the tables were especially pretty. We want to go back to try the Greek food some evening. The service was good. Update: I'm upping the stars from three to four. We went back a couple of weeks later, assumeably to try the Greek food but both ended up ordering off the Specials Board and both were VERY impressed. He got the Ribeye, I got the Lamb Shank, both about $10.85, both came with a delicious large Greek salad, extremely fresh vegetables, very well-prepared meat, absolutely no complaints. A local favorite with good food and service at a reasonable price. Selections are varied and generous. Many restaurants had problems during the pandemic but Patty's had a special problem, someone ran their car into the front windows. No one was hurt and they returned to business the next day with emergency repairs. No wonder we find them reliable and welcoming. Recommended. read more

This is a decent spot for a quick, hearty meal. It's not the sleekest, most modern, or most creative place, but it gets the job done. We went specifically for breakfast, having spent the morning in La Mesa for some other errands. It's located in a strip mall, next to a local bar. No pomp, nothing fancy, but the menu is pretty large, and the service was fast, if not exactly friendly. I ordered a very simple breakfast of biscuits and gravy, which came with eggs, potatoes and sausage patties. My husband ordered the carne asada skillet, which consisted of carne meat cooked with eggs, potatoes and veggies in a skillet (thank you, Captain Obvious!) My meal was decent. There was a lot of food in front of me, and I couldn't finish everything. It didn't blow me away, but then again, it's biscuits and gravy. I don't expect to be blown away by something so basic. My husband really enjoyed his breakfast, saying that the meat was surprisingly delicious, and that the skillet came together well. The coffee was good, as well, and they got the food to us quickly. I would have given this place 4 star, but left scratching our head since we paid more than what we owed. Too lazy to drive back and ask the server about our bill. The only explanation is maybe she added tip, but still way overcharged. Anyways, loved the food and the ambiance. Oldies music playing in the background. The vibe of the diner is more Americana. My BF Tim is a country boy and reminded him of home. They serve American, Mexican and Greek food as well. We ordered calamari for appetizer. It came with pita bread, marinara and tzatziki sauce, olives, and what seems likes a small side salad. Calamari was really tender. And pita bread was nice and warm. I ordered the rib eye steak and Tim got the lamb shank. Both were really tasty. He was really wowed by the lamb shank. It was falling of the bone.
