I had an "okay" overall experience at this location with service being better than the food itself. We started with the Buffalo wings, ordering them all flats and extra crispy. They were able to accommodate the all-flats request, although they couldn't guarantee it ahead of time, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, because the wings are baked, even "well done" they were still very soft and not crispy as I had hoped. We left them behind. The Caesar salad was a generous sharing size, but it was much saltier than I expected. I accepted the optional anchovies on top - next time I won't. My son thought it tasted perfectly fine. For our main dish, we ordered the 12-inch Chicago Ultimate Deep Dish (8 slices). The cheese pull was incredible! Compared to other Patxi's locations I've visited, this pizza had noticeably more cheese and less sauce. While it was still enjoyable, I personally prefer a better balance of sauce to cheese, as this one was a bit too cheese-heavy for my taste. Service was friendly throughout our visit. There were only two people working in the kitchen and one server covering the dining room. Despite being the only front-of-house employee, our server was kind, informative, and attentive. The only issue I noticed was when she briefly went upstairs to the office. A customer who walked in waited about three minutes to be greeted before leaving just as she returned. It seemed more like a staffing issue than a service issue. The restaurant, including the restroom, was clean and well maintained. There were about three other families dining during our visit, giving the restaurant a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere.

A wet gooey mess almost devoid of crust!

Ew. Nasty, wet, gooey mess! A crust that was almost nonexistence- paper thin. Disgusting. Tasty sauce. But, grotesque with all the cheese. Also reminded me of cookie dough. The only good part was the edge... Horrific. The person working was nice and efficient. The box was cute. This pizza makes Sbarro look gourmet! I hope the pigeons enjoyed it... Yuch...... And then walking back to my car and realizing that "Gioia Pizzeria" was just down the street! It reminded me of "let's make a deal" and I chose the wrong curtain! Monty Hall is tossing in his grave.....

Been around for a minute but still quality with fresh dough and ingredients. Don't get take out. Sit inside. It's not crowded. You have space. You can hear your friends! You can chat with the staff!

I really like this restaurant. And it was very nice inside with plenty of room. The food is really good. We ordered 3-14 inch pizzas and they were so filling that the six of us ended up with about a whole pizza to go. One of the pieces was a little bit salty, but otherwise no complain.

    12" Chicken Fajita DEEP

I've been coming to Patxi's for almost 20 years. Specifically, this Hayes Valley location. It's a comforting place that when I have a long dinner break I can walk over and get a delicious Deep Dish Pizza. You can get a thin crust or even a gluten free pizza here, but the deep dish is where it's at. It takes awhile. I've waited upwards an hour on a very busy day, but if they're really slow then 30 to 40 minutes is standard. If you order a thin crust it will come out pretty quick. The service here can be good, but it has gone up and down over the years. It all depends on who is working. The interior space hasn't changed much in 20 years. The chairs are still kind of uncomfortable and make a lot of noise when you move them and the TV's play sports in the background. All of this may not seem the most appealing, but to me it's actually comforting. I have had many of the dishes here. I typically order their wings as an appetizer. They are not heavy or deep fried, but instead are baked. I actually really like the dry rub they use. Sometimes I get a gluten free pizza, because it's easier on my stomach. Their gluten free pizza is really delicious if you need to be gluten free. I like their classic supreme for toppings. The Deep Dish is the reason to come. I think this is the best deep dish you can get in SF. While it's not as good as what you get in Chicago, I think it's as close as it gets. My favorite flavors are the Classic Meat (add basil), the Chicken fajita (surprising, but so good) and the chicken tikka masala (very surprising, but delicious). I also like their spinach pesto. I'm glad this location of Patxi's is still here because it seems several of their other locations have closed in recent years. Glad they are still in Hayes Valley!

Really liked the garlic bread but the vegan daiya cheese pan pizza was a bit runny and not to my liking. The service was very slow, but I guess most of that time was spent in preparing the food. So I would just say, be prepared to wait a long time after you order your meal. The ambiance is okay, not very loud and there was a pickup queue forming. So this place seems popular. We were also given a free Stromboli for checking in on Yelp!

    14" Chicago Ultimate DEEP

The last time I had a deep dish pizza from Patxi's Pizza was probably close to a decade ago. On a Wednesday evening around 6:00 p.m., my friends and I placed a pick-up order for a single 14" Chicago Ultimate Deep dish -- "Pepperoni, all-natural garlic-fennel sausage, green peppers, red onions, mushrooms, herbed ricotta, kalamata olives & fresh basil", on Uber Eats. Note: Uber Eats only has the ability to add additional toppings; there is no option to omit toppings. At roughly $40 for the pizza, it felt a bit expensive, but between the four of us that shared the pizza, it ended up being plenty of food: a slice per person was more than enough because of how thick and heavy each slice is. I was taken aback by how heavy the pizza was when I picked it up at the restaurant. Out of sheer curiosity, we pulled out a kitchen scale when we got home to weigh the pizza and the pizza clocked in at a whomping 6.5 pounds. If you're debating between delivery and pick-up, definitely opt for pick-up if you're able to: the price with delivery -- even with an Uber One account, added around $20 to the total. Not worth it in my opinion. Overall, it's a good pizza that will satisfy your deep dish craving. There's plenty of cheese in the pizza, so you'll get wonderful cheese pulls with every bite. There's a generous amount of toppings on the pizza as well. The reason I'm deducting a star from my review is because we collectively though the crust was slightly underbaked on the bottom. If you ever have a chance to venture out to East Bay and are looking for deep dish pizza, I highly recommend checking out The Star on Grand. Their crunchy cornmeal crust is easily some of the best pizza crust I've found in the Bay.

Usually they're great but I don't see how they would be okay with sending out a pizza this burnt. I was so looking forward to it, especially for a $27 personal pizza, so this was pretty disappointing. It taste burnt and I can't even cut through the crust. Also, two other colleagues ordered and had issues: one had undercooked wings and they were definitely chewy. The other had a hair in his piadina sandwich. My advice: cook the pizza less, cook the chicken more.

I came here with a friend on a Saturday evening. As an appetizer, we got the artichoke dip which came out on a sizzling dish - it was so creamy and paired perfectly with the bread! I would definitely recommend ordering an appetizer because the pizzas take ~45 minutes. We got the spinach pesto pizza (and added kalamata olives) - it was so flavorful and comforting! The portion was more than enough for two people, we had leftovers (which still tasted great the next day)! The staff was really friendly -- the service was a little bit slow on the day we went, but the restaurant was pretty busy. This is the perfect spot for a cold day and I will definitely be back!

    Stromboli

The deep dish pizza here ALWAYS SLAPS, 100/10. Tried the Stromboli for the first time and got the apple one and it was divine! Highly recommend, so glad they've kept this location open!

I met my dear friend here for dinner on Friday night and it was packed inside and out. The wait was about an hour or so, even with her calling that morning to put her name on the waiting list. We walked around and had a drink next door. Plan accordingly! My friend highly recommend the Meatball Gigante. It's one giant Meatball with your choice of sauce. I remember my old Italian neighbor used to ask my mom for the blossoms each year. Not my favorite but it was okay. For the star of the night, we got the New Yorker pizza (gold medal winner Las Vegas) with sliced mozzarella, hand crushed tomato sauce, cup & char pepperoni, sliced sweet 7 spicy Italian sausage, ricotta, chopped garlic & oregano. The crust is perfect. You know it's legit when sauce is dripping out from the corner of your mouth when you take a bite and the cheese is still pulling away. I love it that the slices are cut big so you can fold it in half. IYKYK. I see what the hype is about! We sat outside to reduce the wait time. I would love to sit inside the next time I come back and I want to try other dishes. The menu is huge and I hardly made a dent. A gem in San Francisco!

When we arrived, our waitress didn't seem very knowledgeable about the beers, but honestly, that wasn't a big deal. My boyfriend ordered his pizza while I was still deciding what I wanted. His pizza came out very quickly, which we had no complaints about. The issue started when we had barely been seated for about 15 minutes. I went to the restroom, and while I was gone, the waitress approached my boyfriend while he literally had pizza in his mouth and a full beer in front of him and told him, "My chef said to charge you." He was confused but said okay because it made us wonder if they were closing. I checked the hours, and they weren't supposed to close until 10 PM--it was barely around 9 PM. I HADN'T EVEN ORDERED MY FOOD YET. I was still planning on ordering my own pizza, dessert, and a drink. Instead, we suddenly felt like we were being rushed to pay and leave. What made the situation even more unprofessional was that she left the payment device at our table for Apple Pay and then actually left the restaurant. She was the only server we had seen around, so we were basically left sitting there with the payment device and no server. We eventually had to get up ourselves to find someone so we could ask for boxes and return their payment device. No one had even asked whether we needed boxes, wanted anything else, or were finished ordering. My boyfriend didn't even finish his beer because at that point the entire vibe had changed and we just wanted to leave. We had driven an hour specifically to try this restaurant and were genuinely excited about it, which made the experience even more disappointing. I completely understand if a server's shift is ending, but there is a professional way to handle that--especially when customers are still actively eating and one person at the table hasn't even ordered yet. Someone could have simply explained that her shift was ending and introduced whoever would be taking over our table. Instead, we were made to feel like we needed to pay and leave. Unfortunately, the service completely overshadowed the experience. We really wanted to like this place, but being treated this way after driving an hour to come here was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
