I've been here a few times over the past few years and it's quickly become a must visit winery for me. The property is just stunning, the outdoor space is cozy and inviting, they have bocce ball and a putting green, and the indoor bar top is gorgeous. I have thoroughly enjoyed every wine I've had here and have never had a bad experience with any of the staff. The prices are fair and it feels like a hidden gem amongst the many wineries in the area.

Another great wine I picked up at Paul J!

I recently went on a trip to CA where I visited several of the wineries in the Shenandoah Valley. Paul J's was my favorite of the whole trip! We sat outside since the weather was nice and were well taken care of. It was evident from the get go this was a family business and that made me love it all the more. It provided a relaxing atmosphere with great wines and staff that really cared about the wine they were pouring. We had a mix of people pouring for us, all of which were happy to tell us about each wine and even pour us a few extra sips so we could better decide which ones we wanted to ship back to SC. Our wine arrived the other day and I'm hoping it lasts until Thanksgiving as I've promised some family members I was bringing awesome wine for them to try. My favorite was the Barbara and I will definitely be placing another order over Christmas! If you're visiting the area I highly recommend this winery for the great outdoor space, friendly staff, and excellent wines!

In my opinion, they are doing so many things to enhance the wine tasting experience, it could blow away the competition. Examples are as follows: 1. Rebuilding, refinishing and updating the tasting room and facility. 2. Hiring the former Sous Chef from Taste restaurant to create food offerings/pairings and provide a small bite sample with wine tasting. 3. Display unique and unusual art in and around the property. (They have seven full size panels from the Berlin Wall adjacent to the tasting room.) 4. Staff is exceptionally friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. 5. The wine pricing is reasonable when compared to the quality. 6. Both the food and wine are excellent. That said, I think the one possible stumbling point could be their attempt to blend in their east coast sister wines and styles with this region. It might be an interesting idea, but I am uncertain people locally will appreciate or understand the effort. The Amador wine region is not Napa Valley, and I don't think it possesses the international appeal, notoriety or demographics that will support the concept of bi-coastal wines. In any event, we will return to further experience the ongoing evolution of this remarkable winery.

I had to show them the email confirmation. It was fine and we were still able to sit down right away. The inside wine tasting room is kind of small but the outdoor patio and area makes up for it. It is quite big and open. I think someone can host an outdoor concert or a wedding. We got to taste about five type of wines (Sauvignon Blanc and few blended red wine). They were all good. I particularly like the 2020 Interlude and purchased a bottle for my sister. We also got to sample from their gallery collection library club that's like 20+ years old ( I forgot the exact year) and that was special. They also have dumplings and spring rolls for purchase. I skip that because I wasn't sure if that would go with the wine. We bought some cheese with us and we had that with our wine. Of course, we asked for permission before bringing in our own cheese and crackers. The gentleman that served us was really nice and friendly. We didn't feel rushed and wine was poured at a good pace. I do want to mention that most winery at Amador will comp at least one tasting with purchase, but not at Di Arie. If you're not a member, be prepared to pay the full wine tasting fee per person.

It's a Terri blend of Cab Sauvignon, Cab Franc, Syrah and Primitivo! The host and hostess were all very friendly and knowledgeable! And of course to meet and chat with the wine maker himself, Chaim, was a wonderful treat! The grounds were small, but very cute and relaxing. It made for a warm, friendly ambiance! Of course we walked away with a case of the Sierra and the 3 OG vintage wines! We're definitely coming back in a few weeks. Thank you Di Arie!

The tasting room is nicely decorated. While most people tried a few wines they then bought a bottle, which Tracy put in a bucket of ice along with glasses which they then took back outside. They have lots of seating with a covered patio along with other tables with umbrellas for a more intimate experience. Arranged around a few man made ponds they were in the process of cleaning up the reeds. So I didn't see and running water features. But from the patio you could see the hills with some of the vineyards. We did ask for specific varietals we like to enjoy. My husband and I tried the reds. 6 different ones for each of us so in all we tried twelve and bought three. Overall nice wines, good price point.

The entrance opens into a large room where the tasting counter is at the far end. The walls are decorated with assorted flags and a family style crest over the focal point of the wine tasting bar. The wines offered on the wine tasting list were similar to what we had tried before at Villa Toscano. But we ordered another $5.00 flight that included our favorites along with a few we hadn't tried yet. We enjoyed the flavor variations, but had a hard time deciding on what to purchase, so we went outside for a while to take in the scenery and discuss which ones we liked the best.
