Disappointed to the point I will not return. It's like after COVID the whole place got amnesia and nobody knows my history there anymore. For one, during COVID I called and left several messages to let me know when they opened back up. I even spoke with people there that supposedly put me a call list. Apparently they opened up for business APRIL 2021. I was never informed and I just called on a whim the day before my appointment. It is now JANUARY 2022. (RED FLAG #1) I had an appointment for full hair color, nothing extra except for a deep conditioning. I was told that since I had color in my hair already that I would have to get highlights (more $ and time that I wasn't expecting) to make my hair lighter. ( I use AgeBeutiful box dye because I have grays and I can turn my hair any color pretty much so this was RED FLAG #2). I refused the highlights and I settled for a root touch up. Definitely not what I wanted cuz now my roots are shiny and the rest of my hair is dull af. So then comes the "deep conditioning ". She puts the conditioner in my hair then proceeds the tell me that she won't put me under the blow dryer because just dyed my roots. (Are you serious?? This could have been explained to me prior to putting that conditioner in my hair! I could have done this "deep conditioner" at home and saved myself money. And in the past, they have put me under the dryer after my hair dye. It was part of my routine. ) So now I'm stuck sitting g there in a freaking plastic hair cap and it's not doing anything extra. (RED FLAG #3) I asked about the program where you would receive credit after your services. They don't do that anymore. They gave me a punch card and after 10 services you get a free hair cut. I don't let anyone there cut my hair because it's curly so that's useless for me. Last red flag for me honestly. I'll look for another school to dye my hair in the future. Or I'll continue dying it myself and save $35 plus gas and 4 hours of my day. I really did enjoy coming here and thank you to all the ladies in the past that were awesome! read more

I came in platinum blond wanting to touch up my roots with a second session of balayage... they toned my hair until it's dark brown, black, and purple. Then they rushed me out, covered the mirror with my ticket so I could barley see my results. I ended up having to pull over on my drive home to cry... I have always been blonde and just wanted my roots touched up.. I have attached an image with my hair extensions that were a perfect match to my initial color:( please don't go here!! I was a student at Paul Mitchell the school Modesto & I just want to talk about my experience. I'll start off by saying that I had the most amazing learning leaders, Ms. V, Sheyla & Zoie. You can tell that they are very passionate about what they do, very educated, & really care about their students' education. I learned so much from them! One thing I was told by some friends before starting the program was that "beauty schools" have A LOT of drama, so because of that I always made sure to just mind my business & get what I needed to get done, DONE. I have always been big on being kind & respectful, because you never know what someone else may be going through in their life. There were two separate occasions where I felt that I was spoken to very rudely... it's to where they put you in a position where you'll want to snap back at them. I remained calm & kept it professional. I'd have to recommend that these staff members (specifically, Nadia, Catalina, & Jason) review & take notes of chapter 4: communicating for success of the Esthetics Milady's book to get a better understanding of how to properly communicate with their students in a respectful, mature manner & to make sure to always be aware of their tone of voice to make handling any situations easy & effective. Let me just say, I had not said a single word to them for them to talk to me in that manner. I can only assume that these people must be going through tough times in their own personal lives & are taking it out on all the wrong people to make themselves feel better. I requested a facial and booked with Eileen. I have to say the quality of the facial was amazing. I received a European facial and with that she did a diagnostic on my skin. She was detailed and thorough with the specific products she used for my skin. Im older and have some sun damage. She so kindly reminded me to use sunblock. . However, the level of professionalism along with the atmosphere was just a wonderful experience. The facial itself felt like a professional massage. I've never fallen asleep during a facial, I woke up completely refreshed and renewed. Eileen has a gift of making you completely comfortable and her hands are so healing. Maybe that sounds strange , but I can't explain how much better I felt afterward. It's been a couple of days since the facial but my skin still feels and looks great. The following review contains 2 parts due to length of message. (1/2) EXTREMELY Unprofessional & Disrespectful. Former Esthetician student here- I am warning you, do NOT go here for an education. The only reason I have the education I do is because of one teacher. The rest of the staff is by far the most childish, disrespectful, and unprofessional I have ever come across (including the majority of staff in other departments AND the owners). The teachers all talk badly about students in front of other students, and when addressed to administration, those same teachers easily manipulate the situation into making the students look disrespectful. The owners treat staff who aren't "mean enough" to students horribly, and they don't acknowledge ANY issues or concerns brought to them. The teachers never apologize or even acknowledge any of their mistakes, they lie to put blame on students, and the cycle continues of staff allowing other staff to be disrespectful to students since "we're the ones with attitude." Additionally, when our teacher chose to leave the company, they gave us the front desk person, Maximillian, as a teacher. We all tried our best to give her space to adjust in such a chaotic time, but she treated us with absolute disrespect from the moment she moved to the clinic floor with us. She would take weeks to approve our tallies (which are needed to graduate), she almost always had an attitude with students for no reason, and for a while, she would not allow us in the clinic until an hour before school ended even though there were 2-3 clients a day maximum. Additionally, Maximillian would leave for periods of time while there were students and clients in the clinic, leaving us with no assistance if needed and no supervision. This school was so insanely desperate that they even had students in Core taking clients before reaching the required hours and taking any of the exit exams (ILLEGAL!). On top of this, even if she was in the clinic, she had no clue what she was doing- one teacher would tell us one thing, she would tell us another thing, and eventually one of them would get mad at students for doing differently than told even though the staff was at fault for not being on the same page. If there was a treatment step that was pure preference, she would tell us that we had to do it HER way because SHE said so, and if asked why, she refused to give an answer other than "(students) don't thoroughly remove product." Maximillian also attempted to write a student up for refusing to use the student's product (that was paid for by tuition) on a paying client. She picks and chooses who she wants to "respect" and who she's willing to pass in exams. The staff also do not let students touch school product to practice with- you are forced to purchase additional product (ex. wax cans, sticks, oil) on your own for tallies if you run out of the one wax can of product provided to you in your kit. However, the teachers "must" grab certain products for clients, but won't actually do it, leaving clients waiting for 30+ minutes after their service time has started. Mind you, the kits received are cheap & inconsistent. The wax kit you can buy for less than $50 at Ulta. The lash kits we were supplied are one of the staff member's lash kits- the tweezers don't close, the doll head does not mimic a natural eye at all, and the lash fibers and glue are cheap. The makeup kits' are just as horrible, barely any product provided (can't even make a full face look with it) & foundations have no coverage at all and are super watery. The Dermalogica products provided are decent, but for being in the esthetics program, they 100% cheated us of a sufficient amount of products to learn from considering we payed over $2000 for our kits. The amount we are paying does not at ALL add up with the amount that these kits are listed for online. They asked us for our opinion through a survey on these kits, and when seeing how horrible the feedback was, they held multiple guest artists using those kits to belittle us and make it seem as if Cyndi (the lash kit supplier) was doing us a favor and that WE did not know how to use the products. Throughout this entire Guest Artist, Cyndi repeatedly said that her lash course was only $750 for students but that she would GLADLY charge us $1800 if we wanted. read more

I've been using them on my hair since I was 19, and I am now 90. It just depends on where I'm at at the time. When I travel I don't always know where to go or I don't have transportation. I came in at 9:30am for an appointment and the two ladies at the front desk on Feb 24 were actually so indescribable RUDE. It looked like they don't even enjoy their job or even want to be there. So unprofessional. They checked me in and basically cut me off when I was saying I was here for an appointment, they just cut me off and said "name?". While I was waiting my turn to go to the back for my hair, I saw a girl/student ask them for something and while she was waiting for them to give them a paper I think, the girl with long hair behind the desk just ignored her and just kept laughing with the other girl behind the desk, I believe she had short hair. Just overall, they really look like mean girls! The girl that did my hair was amazing and loved the service she provided, but I really couldn't stop thinking about how rude those girls at the front were. When I went to pay and I asked if I can leave a tip, she just looked at me and said "oh you can just go back there" and turned her back at me and went away. I made an appointment to get a haircut, and a beard trim. The price was affordable, and the customer service was amazing. My barber was Shane, and he did an amazing job. He kept checking to make sure I was ok, he had a gentle hand compared to some certified specialist ive had in the past, and he kept making sure i was ok. If you are going to get Beauty Services consider other Beauty Colleges! Paul Mitchell has raised the prices of many services considerably. Many people, seniors and others that can't afford to spend top dollar go to these places to get bargain services in return for letting a student train and get the hours in that they need. I go to these places just for the student training aspect. if im going to pay over $20 bucks for a basic haircut that takes a couple of hours and needing to be checked by student trainers than I might as well pay Salon prices. Do your homework! There are other local beauty colleges that re well more price efficient and local for student training! read more

The lack of professionalism show by the staff was ridiculous. I went in and there were students in rooms with no teachers. While waiting in the chair, I witnessed two different teachers berating a student as each was giving her different instructions at the same time. I walked out before my haircut, scared of the situation. Spoke with an instructor on my way out to explain the situation and was alarmed that they had very strong alcohol on their breath.
