I LOVE Kaley! She is a wonderful cosmetologist-in-training, and I would highly recommend HER for any service! However...... I have been a licensed professional for over 15 years. I have paid thousands of dollars for services in several different salons, and NEVER have I EVER been treated or seen another mom treated the way I was today. I was beyond embarrassed, and I left this school in tears today when I was asked to leave because I had my 3-month-old sleeping son in his stroller with me. I was here a couple of weeks ago with my son (same situation, he was sleeping in his stroller) for the same nail service, and there was no issue. Apparently, there is a new rule that there are no "extra people" allowed on the floor during services. Not only was the floor not busy this morning, but my son was asleep and we were not in the way. Furthermore, Kaley was completely unaware of this rule enforcement as she was shocked by my being asked to leave. I am a single mom of 2 children, and while I would agree to being asked to leave should I have brought my 2-year-old daughter with me, I am astonished by my sleeping newborn. Paul Mitchell has been a well-respected name in the beauty industry for years. This has left the most sour taste in my mouth, and I would not only NOT recommend this school (for attendance OR service), but I also would not recommend their products simply because it was the worst interaction I have ever had. I do not know about other Paul Mitchell schools, but based on my experience at this specific location in Nampa, I would caution anyone considering attending to do thorough research and consider all factors. I believe the experience at this school may not be ideal for everyone, especially if you're someone who values a supportive and conflict-free atmosphere. That said, others may have had a different experience, so this is just my perspective. I do want to mention one teacher, Gwen, who was incredibly supportive and the only staff member I felt truly cared about my well-being during my time there. I deeply appreciate the guidance she provided. Ultimately, I hope the school will reflect on areas for improvement, but that is up to them to decide. She explained all the steps and well the results came out great. My student was pretty new to the program. she was very good about talking to me. she was not shy. she had a hard time adjusting water temp and the shampoo bowl but with time it will get easier for her. she only had 300 hours in but she did a great job on my haircut. I have gone to Paul Mitchell The School several times for a makeup application and a hairstyle. Whenever my husband has a show (he's in a band), it simplifies my life to not have to do my own hair and makeup. In the last 3 weeks, I have gone 3 times. My first visit I went to Ollie. Ollie did a great job and was able to get help from Victoria. I wanted to have a pinup style with victory curls and then today, I went to Bailey B and had a braid and a super fun color eye. I always give the stylist free reign to do whatever they feel inspired to do. Both times I have been BEYOND happy with the results. The service has been exceptional and the prices are crazy affordable. I highly recommend going to Paul Mitchell The School for any special occasion that you have coming up or even just a date night. It took so long and they stained my forehead not cool man I was bored and they kept poling my hair

Liam was a nice young man. He seemed new. I didn't feel he washed my hair at the nap of my neck. I liked that he asked the instructor for help cutting my right side layers. Unfortunately he didn't cut my left side the same making this side having longer layers. I would have preferred a little more experienced stylist. Brought adult daughter in for lowlights. Natasha was her beautician. She did an AMAZING job!! Beautifully done and she's such a sweet and kind person. Well done! Only reason for 4 starts instead of 5 is I feel the schools pricing was pretty high. $45 for the baseline for our service was reasonable, but the extra $20 for add-ons ("extra" cups of color product) wasn't reasonable...especially since she has thin hair. I can't imagine what the extra cost would be for medium to thick hair. But overall, happy with the service! read more

I went in to have my hair lightened to get the yellow out of my hair. My student who helped me his name was Lalo. He was very gentle nice did extremely well and I will see him again next month. Any cons would be there more students and teachers of course so the student had to wait until a teacher was free to come over and see what they did. All in all I would say go back again. read more

Appointment was at 2:30 showed up at 2:10 didn't get to go to a chair until 2:40 beautician said didn't receive a text message knowing I was here told her I wanted foil could tell she didn't want to do it it was her first time she immediately started asking her colleagues for help finally a teacher got another colleague to help her toward the end of the foiling they had a third girl helping walked out at 8:00 freezing cold with wet hair once I was home and got to blow dry it myself saw how unevenly the highlights were done I look like I have gray hair now very sad that this was my experience I understand they have to learn but a teacher didn't check in on them one time and if somebody's not confident enough to do something they shouldn't be forced to do it read more

The young lady who did my hair was a fantastic young gal. Her name was Emma Closson and I see a lot of success in this young lady's future. All the staff was friendly and inviting. Been here a few times with my wife but we're both looking for other options at this point. I understand they're students and so the process can take a bit longer but when I asked for a simple scissor cut the students here act like they've never heard of that before. Both times an instructor had to take over because the student didn't know what they were doing. If I could give zero stars I would. 1st off I was not under the impression I would get an amazing haircut but I didn't think I would look like someone took tree trimmers to my hair. From the 1st cut I should have run but I tried to keep an open mind. The girl snipped off about three inches the 1st snip. Next she cut the back so short it sticks up. The other side she gouged out a large chunk and left my ear exposed witj the other side being a bob. To make matters worse she had the instructor come over and the instructor signed off on it. Didn't turn me toward the mirror until blow dry time and it was to late to do anything. All the while the girl was telling me she loves haircutting the most and is so good. I have experience as a stylist and would be able to fix it but it is so short in some places and has holes. I have been strategically pining the longer pieces to cover the holes. The instructor needs to go back to school and the stylist shouldn't be working on people yet because she obviously has no clue. read more

dont get me wrong, the lady did a okay job, it was noticeable that it was her first time since she was asking repeatedly what to do to her supervisor and for the first time bleaching she did great but the color wasn't really there, I do have to say I am very introverted so it was hard to say anything and she was super nice she did the hair ask she was asked but the color wasn't right along with your after I left I started to feel a burning itching sensation which hurt BADLY when i woke up this morning my hair turned from copper to plain out orange, when I called all they said is that they can give my first bowl free the rest is 10 bucks... Okay so I've been in this establishment multiple times and so has my family. And almost every time I'm there there are two specific front desk ladies that are so incredibly rude! My family has mentioned that the times they went in there they received the same kind of service and it's very uncalled for! My sister attends the school which is why I visit so often. Mens haircut. With me so far? I was in the chair for over 2 hours and barely spoke to the student at all. Probably because he had his headphones in the entire time. The instructor engaged me in more conversation. The student spent almost 25 minutes on my neck alone! I began to wonder if he was re-creating a work of Michelangelo! Then when I said that the top & front were still too long (90 minutes in & he'd barely done anything there) he acted like I'd asked him to shoot his dog. I asked for very simple hair cut after being in the chair for 1 hour the young lady was not even half way done and did completely opposite of what I wanted after the second time I asked her shave 0 and blend top into 1 very simple I than had to go home and fix my hair. I made an appointment to get my haircut here and my experience was awful. I was struggling with depression and failed to give my hair the proper love it deserved. I felt like it was time to cut some length off so I would feel that I had time to manage it better. I showered and brushed out my hair before going to make sure that it was soft and easy to deal with for the hair stylist. The women there were incredible rude and condescending. I ended having to get a deep conditioning treatment before they agreed to cut it and didn't listen to what I had asked for. I ended up leaving after 3 hours with relatively the same length of hair and a lot less confidence. I understand that my hair is not as healthy as others and that I need to take better care of it but it is well within the normal range. I didn't come to the salon with matted hair asking them to fix it. I am a clean and polite person who simply asked for a haircut. I felt extremely judged and ashamed to have even made an appointment. I felt like they didn't have a desire to help me or give me the solution I asked for. I am posting this in hopes it will deter anyone else from having a similar experience. No one wants to feel worse after going to the salon. read more
